Why wouldn't they investigate the SAT crew?
Yup. He kinda went to the pokey for it.
I'll probably get a "we don't comment on the status of investigations" reply.
A journalist cannot divulge her sources ;). Let's just say that I happened upon a "reformed" NSS, who kind of gave me insight on the mindset.
I still didn't get the allure, though. I'd rather earn my money honestly and be able to sleep at night.
I sent this letter to the OSC today after reading about the suspensions of the other companies embroiled in the SAT situation.
I sent it to three communications people, as well as the director of enforcement, Michael Watson.
The letter:
I am a journalist in Dallas, Texas, following the Select American case. I noticed that your agency suspended trade on several companies who used Select American as their transfer agency ( http://www.osc.gov.on.ca/Enforcement/Proceedings/RAD/rad_20070522_select-american.pdf), but there are a few missing, most noticeably Alcar Chemical Group, or ACMG:PK.
Alcar has several side issues that make it a worrisome stock, but one of the things its CEO, Alexander Cavasin, said before he went completely incommunicado was that he was having trouble reconciling the errant shares that seemed to be out there. At the time, he thought it could be naked short selling, but now, with the revelations regarding Select American, I can't help but wonder if the transfer agent is not possibly the problem. And yes, Alcar's TA was Select American.
Is there any reason Alcar is not on that suspension list? If you can't answer that question, perhaps this one is less intrusive into your investigation: Is the list in your announcement the final one, or do you expect to add more companies as your investigation goes on?
Thank you for your prompt response to my query.
Sincerely,
Bethany Anderson
Firepit, please e-mail me - bmandersontx@gmail.com.
I've talked to plenty of NSS. They wouldn't bother with CSHD. Maybe when it was at $4, sure. But after the suspension? Too low to be worth the trouble.
Alacra's just a database. I don't think it has anything more than what you all have already found.
Sorry..just catching up. I um, went to have some Stoli to help me in learning Russian.
Anyway, I wouldn't think there would be anything stopping any of you from e-mailing the investigator that sent Jack and HN the e-mail, and just answering the same questions she asked of them.
Erm....Yes?
I agree. If you don't want to have to answer questions from pink sheet investors, a) come up with the money for an IPO, instead of a R/M; b) don't go public; c)be forthcoming with information that you disseminate through established channels - like an IR firm.
As my grandpa used to say, "You gotta dance with the fella that brung ya."
HN9490, I believe.
I think that's what we're trying to find out from Stefoglo, but he hasn't answered the e-mail yet.
When I get home tonight, I'll try to do some recon on my own.
There is a way to disseminate bad news without bashing. I know, I've done it. LOL
I think what you guys are talking about is gloating when the chips are down, or this: http://www.investorshub.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=20058875
I think it's funny that I've gotten confirmation from two people - independently - that got this letter, I have a copy of the letter, and the Canadian authorities won't confirm they've even heard of ACMG, Cavasin, or anyone else.
BTW, those Craig's List ads haven't panned out either. If anyone has a pic of him, I'll be happy to edit them to include the pic. You can e-mail it to me at bmandersontx@gmail.com
Now that's just mean. Poor man hasn't been paid in months!
Thanks! I should've gone with my first choice and searched on the acronym, SAT.
1. This suit may not be. But I would be willing to theorize that if Stefoglo felt he had a claim to the patents and that Cavasin was going to capitalize on them without him, he'd sue.
2 and 3. Perhaps not. It is possible that after he left, Stefoglo got riled up and filed the suit then - or threatened to.
3. If the deal fell through prior to his leaving, perhaps he thought an in-person meeting would help. It could be that he thought there was riper funding opportunities in SEA as well, because many believe that our Eastern neighbors are a little more forward thinking when it comes to alternative energy.
I'm not saying that its a fact, I'm merely saying that there was a lot of lead time between the time Cavasin left and the time the deal was to be done or dividends issued for something to go awry and scare Siam off in the eleventh hour.
Perhaps someone - if they ever get in touch with Dr. C - should tell him to come back to North America. With the new presidential mandates regarding biofuel production, there's federal grants to be had in the US for research into the use of switchgrass, wood chips, and other biomass.
There is a possibility here: Stefoglo said that to his knowledge, Cavasin was in SEA trying to round up funding. One plausible scenario? Consortiums - especially ones that are made up of several different private equity firms and entities as it appears Siam is - tend to like clean buys, they don't want the hassles and expense of a protracted legal battle.
Perhaps in the course of doing their due diligence, they found out about the lingering dispute over patents, and the controversy surrounding SAT, and decided that the venture would be more trouble than it was worth.
Ah....
I was just trying to find the Select American board.
If they did, they're probably going to be very bored. I just sent a note to admin, maybe they can figure out what's up.
I can't search - I get logged out instead. Now my name has this werid _inj_inj after it, too.
Anybody else having a problem?
Well, I did strain my pinky whilst typing last night....
Thanks..
Anybody know how to get rid of this weirdness after my name?
And my name is all weird looking. Anybody else getting this?
Just saw this, sorry if it was already mentioned on the SAT board. I can't find the board, and when I try to search for it on here, I am logged out.
Weird.
Anyway:
http://www.dtc.org/impNtc/ope/ope_1641.pdf
I don't remember if this was ever addressed fully or not, because I haven't checked this board in some time. I noticed Always Faithful was looking for proof of the Garland operation.
A few months ago - during the big blowup where he threatened the r/s on the air at MN1, I had a friend who works for the City of Garland check to see if there had been any permits issued for the work that would need to be done to retrofit the space Karney said they'd leased. There were no permits (or permit applications) - which my source also tells me would definitely be needed for the work planned. In fact, there was no paper trail on Clarence Karney, Bill Karney, PDSC, or Produce Safety and Security International.
I think people forget that it's not the CEO they hurt when they bash a stock, it's the average shareholder who is worrying about whether or not they just got had.
Chances are, everyone on here knows that every time you invest in a Pink Sheet company, you're courting a loss. It's the way of the game, and there's a reason these companies aren't on a big board - they don't' qualify. If you need assurances and hand-holding, well, even the big boards won't completely provide that - look at Enron.
That being said, I've always been keenly aware of the fact that its not rich people typically investing in these companies. It's people that work for a living, and in some cases - whether it's a good idea or not - invest far more than they can afford to lose, that are hurt the most when companies falter or go under. I think those people are already emotionally running the gamut - fear, worry, anger - and they don't need people to tell them they should be feeling that way. They don't need to be mocked for having hope, either.
That's why I always try - even when it becomes painfully obvious that a company is shady (take, for instance, ECFL) - to treat every opinion with the respect it deserves. If I just lost a lot of money, I'd be looking for every possible sign it wasn't true. Why on earth would I chastise someone for having that same emotion?
I enjoy being able to articulate my thoughts in such a way that people understand me, and at desire to give a passing consideration to my thoughts.
Unlike some, who couldn't elucidate their way out of a wet paper bag, even if armed with a very sharp machete and a platoon of very hungry goats.
You'd be correct. I'm on the shareholders' side. And, if you go back and look at my very first posts, you'll realize that I also approached things from a very different mindset than some of my then-MN1 colleagues, making the "MN1 has something to do with this conspiracy" conspiracy theory a little bit bunkish, yes? If MN1 had an agenda, don't you think we'd all be singing the same party line?
I've looked over your posts, dounome, and they beg the question: Why do you spend more time berating and harassing message board members than you do contributing to the group DD pool? Do YOU have some kind of agenda?
LOL....
You give me way more credit than I deserve. I love the Mata Hari angle, though.
I know about as much as you do. I've never talked to Sentinel before I started posting here. If you bothered to read back, you'd realize that I came here to answer questions about the initial missed interview. As for the IP information regarding Cavasin's e-mail, I believe I explained that as well.
When I talked to him - albeit not in Russian - he sounded like the absent minded professor type, i.e. brilliant when it comes to science, but confounded by anything that interrupts that. It could very well be that he has, well, a life, and doesn't hang out on messag..
Nevermind.
LOL
As I mentioned before - and slightly off topic, but not by far - I am working on launching a blog. When I have it ready to my satisfaction, I'll post the link, if Sentinel doesn't mind.
True, but a phone call, unless recorded, isn't so much of a danger.
The true test will be if he answers the questions in the e-mail.
Because you don't tip your hand completely before you file. It gives the other side time to bury you in paperwork before you ever begin.
Any lawyer would've told him not to say a whole lot until something was filed.
Ahem....already took care of that - in college.
VODKA!
I mean, um, I don't know either.
Make copies for your files and send the originals back?
I know. I'm just saying that six weeks ago, it wasn't Jeff Roman answering the IR addy.
