Hold the phone! Spider-Man and his wife of 20 years have split
By JOHN ROGERS, Associated Press Writer
Wednesday, January 16, 2008
(01-16) 03:00 PST Los Angeles (AP) --
It was bad enough when Jamie Lynn Spears, the 16-year-old all-American girl, announced she was pregnant.
But Spider-Man splitting with Mary Jane, his wife of more than 20 years? We didn't see that one coming.
Which is exactly the point, says Joe Quesada, editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics. It was time to shake things up in the life of Peter Parker, the nerdy New Yorker who upon being bitten by a radioactive spider attained the ability to transform himself into a web-spinning world savior. And it was easier to do that, he said, if Parker wasn't married.
Still, as the writer and artist who created the story that transformed Spider-Man into Single-Man earlier this month, Quesada has made himself about as popular with some of his readers as the villainous Green Goblin.
"When we first did it, the reaction was, 'How could you do this? This is a terrible thing to do," he recalled. "But with the first issue of 'Brand New Day' (in which Spider-Man returns to single life), our letters very quickly changed to people saying, 'This is fantastic. This is the Spider-Man we remembered. We didn't know what we'd been missing."
To briefly recap Spider-Man's trials and tribulations, his beloved Aunt May was recently wounded by an assassin. To save her life he and Mary Jane struck a deal with the devil-like Mephisto in which she would be restored to good health if they allowed Mephisto to erase every memory of their time as a married couple.
Reaction from the critics was swift.
"Considering I have been reading Spider-Man for exactly 20 years now, and that seems to be the amount of time Joe Q. has decided to rip from Spider-Man continuity, can I simply return all of my Spider-Man comics for a full refund?" asked one of the more polite postings on Marvel's Internet message boards. Some message threads were discontinued after they became nothing more than forums to insult Quesada and others.
"It's heresy for some people," laughed Dave Pifer, who runs the Secret Headquarters comic book store in Los Angeles. Others, however, have been more quick to adapt.
"The ones who are new to superheroes like Spider-Man, they're excited about it," Pifer said. "They feel like they're starting at the beginning."
One message poster even joked that the beautiful Mary Jane, who remains in the Spider-Man cast, is free now to pursue Brad Pitt.
But what of the man who created Spider-Man? What does he think?
"I think it's a very creative idea. It should stimulate a lot of interest in the characters and the books, and I'm eager to see what happens next," said Stan Lee, who wasn't involved in the current story.
It was Lee who married Spider-Man and Mary Jane in a mock ceremony at New York's Shea Stadium in 1987.
"Amazing that they're not even middle-aged yet," Lee quipped.

Lionsgate leaps on 'Conan'
Nu Image to return 'Barbarian' to big screen
By MICHAEL FLEMING
Avi Lerner
Lerner
Nu Image/Millennium Films has made a North American distribution rights deal with Lionsgate for a new film series based on the Robert E. Howard-created character Conan the Barbarian.
The first film will be written by the team of Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer ("Sahara," "Cowboys & Aliens").
Pic will be produced by Lerner, Boaz Davidson, Joe Gatta, Paradox Entertainment's Fredrick Malmberg, George Furla and Henry Winterstern. Trevor Short and Dimbort are exec producers.
Pic is earmarked to begin production later this year, but the start date will depend on the resolution of the writers strike. Nu Image/Millennium chief Avi Lerner confirmed that he is in discussions to make a WGA deal akin to those brokered with United Artists and the Weinstein Co. Such a pact would speed up the process.
"It's a possibility, though I haven't studied it enough to make a final decision," Lerner told Daily Variety. "The whole strike is stupid, in my opinion. They approached us, indirectly, to make some kind of deal, and we are looking at it."
More than one option
Though the original film series dates back far enough that it launched the star of current California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the property maintains a strong brand awareness through ancillary properties that include a Dark Horse comicbook series, a vidgame for Xbox 360 and a Funcom/Eidos multiplayer online role-playing game that was just touted at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Lionsgate, which has also been rumored to have been courted by the WGA, hasn't commented on its plans. But Nu Image/Millennium founders Lerner and Danny Dimbort are the ones fully financing a film that Lerner anticipates will cost around $100 million. It is by far the most fiscally ambitious film he and Dimbort have undertaken.
Lerner said the Lionsgate deal came out of a strong working relationship developed through the Sylvester Stallone-directed actioner "Rambo," which will be released Jan. 25 by Lionsgate and the Weinstein Co.
"I'm very happy with Jon Feltheimer and his whole team. They understand the business and the value of money better than a lot of studios," Lerner said. "We will finance the movie, but the idea is to work closely with them on a creative level and use their experience."Pic will be produced by Lerner, Boaz Davidson and Joe Gatta, along with Fredrick Malmberg of Paradox Entertainment. Trevor Short, Dimbort and George Furla are exec producers.
Malmberg made a seven-figure deal with Millennium after he declined to renew Warner Bros.' option on the Conan property after seven years. Gatta, who once repped the property as an agent before moving to Millennium as an exec, courted Malmberg for a deal that contains strict progress-to-production provisions.
According to IMDb The Wicker Man is on TV
and so is Lover Boy, 16 Blocks, The Amityville Horror, Control, The Badge, Run for the Money, Good Advice, After Sex, Cutaway, and Escape to Grizzly Mountain ...

rephrase your question.. Is Stan Lee legit?
My own personal opinion is that this has the makings for being a 10+ bagger (from .13).. Easy.. All the right ingredients. But you can bet your life on it that the MM's will have a field day with it taking it up then bring it down.. Not till we hit the big boards will anyone care.. Real, Stan See... Just watch the "Who Wants To Be A Super Hero" They made a promise to showcase that guy.. I think it was a guy..
Watch the boys put out an announcement that they picked up another 100M from the open market... Wouldn't that be funny.....
I cannot access any part of it

Stan Lee Promises Many, Many Marvel Movies
Still no word on a Howard the Duck reboot.

Get ready for a lot more movies based on Marvel characters -- according to Stan Lee, the company is leaving no major character unfilmed.
While walking the red carpet before receiving his Lifetime Achievement Award at the Jules Verne Adventure Film Festival, Lee stopped to answer a few questions, and Collider was there to chime in (and, thankfully, write the whole thing down). After promising that his cameo in next year's Iron Man is "the greatest," Lee dished on some of what we can expect from his company, POW! Entertainment, in the near future:
I've got three movies that are being developed at Disney. We're working on some television shows. We're working on an animated movie with Paris Hilton and another one with Ringo Starr.
Perhaps Paris and Ringo will be starring in a Caveman remake?
Lee then gets down to business, telling Collider that he "can't think of an important Marvel character that isn't being primed for a movie," and responds to half-serious rumors about a feature adaptation of the publisher's old "kid heroes" book, Power Pack:
They've been talking about -- now they're not working on it but they have been discussing whether to do it -- "Power Pack." They'll be doing "Submariner," "Captain America," "The Avengers," "Nick Fury."
Can't you just hear the casting rumors multiplying like bunnies?

I know we are to hear something but is it what we are hoping for?

Just a little history about this little poor Jewish boy.
For the new and thinking of buying crowd who will be with us this new year.
Stanley Lieber was the teenage cousin of the wife of Martin Goodman, owner of Marvel (then Timely) Comics. He entered the family business in 1939, one year after the debut of Superman, in Action Comics No. 1 (a copy of which sold at auction in July for $46,000). Lieber's first writing for the company was a piece of prose in Captain America No. 3, a two-page text filler that qualified comic books for inexpensive mailing rates. He signed it "Stan Lee," he later recalled, "because I felt someday I'd be writing the Great American Novel and I didn't want to use my real name on these silly little comics." Lee worked with editor Joe Simon and one of the giants of the industry, artist Jack Kirby, of whom Lee once said, "He never drew a character who didn't look interesting or excited. In every panel there was something to look at." But within three years, Simon and Kirby, who had created the successful Captain America serial for Timely, left the company for the competition, DC Comics.

I am absolutely positive that they will be out of town when I visit.. Conveniently... sneaking out the back door. Or have Rambo standing guard. LOL
Films to look out for in 2008
With a built-in fanbase the size of the Delta Quadrant, JJ Abrams' rebooted Star Trek XI is another solid proposition. Explaining how the USS Enterprise crew came together, the movie has virtual unknowns Chris Pine as Kirk and Zachary "Sylar" Quinto as Spock, plus Simon Pegg, John Cho, and Eric Bana as a Romulan. But who does that leave to sort out our problems here on Earth? Thank God for John Rambo. After his last foreign policy success, teaming up with Afghanistan's mujahideen in 1988's Rambo III, Sylvester Stallone's braindead warhorse is now out to kill all the bad people in Burma.

Think we will ever be back to a nickel?
maybe with a 200 reverse split???
Opening in January
Jan. 25
Be Kind, Rewind (PG-13): Jack Black and Mos Def remake films lost when Black's brain becomes magnetized. Hmm.
How She Move (PG-13): Tre Armstrong stars as a competitive step-dancer.
Meet the Spartans (PG-13): Another spoof of current films. Carmen Electra, uh, stars.
Rambo (R): Sylvester Stallone returns as a presumably longer-in-the-tooth John Rambo. What else do you need to know?
Untraceable (R): Diane Lane as an FBI agent hunting a serial killer.

It is of my opinion and I didn't want to say anything but I have been looking at my Hollywood Stock Exchange (HSX, play stocks)for the past 2 or 3 weeks. I am only trying gage it from the perspective of insiders to the business and not the stock market.. They clearly do not like the movies that FMLY has participation in. Righteous Kill and Rambo have not done well in anticipation??? 88 Minutes, of which I shorted, the market likes it,,,,,must be Al Pachino and not George.....
Just very odd when the insiders to the actual business, Stage hands, Fill-ins, props, ect... do not like this company.. Just a feeling...

Sylvester Stallone Unveils 'Rambo' Rough Cut In L.A.: 'Let The Fun Begin!'
'I wanted to take Rambo and bring him up to modern-day sensibilities,' actor/writer/director explained at Tuesday screening.
By Larry Carroll
SANTA MONICA, California — "Well," grinned the legendary Sylvester Stallone on Tuesday night at a tiny screening room in Los Angeles, unspooling an extremely rough cut of "Rambo" for the first time. "Let the fun begin!"
With that, the lights went down and one-man-war-machine John Rambo walked onscreen for the first time in almost 20 years. The lucky few in attendance signed strict "no-review" legal forms, but this much we can tell you: It's the most violent "Rambo" yet, and is good enough to make "Rambo III" look like "Rocky V."
Before the screening, the charismatic Stallone introduced the film he wrote and directed, and in which he stars. "I wanted to be able to take Rambo and bring him up to modern-day sensibilities and deal with a more realistic view," he explained. "In this one here, I was dedicated to trying to do something more realistic."
With that in mind, he was willing to poke fun at his previous 1988 adventure, in which he battled Russians in Afghanistan. "The last 'Rambo,' it was [unrealistic]. You know, you don't walk around in a desert, in 130-degree heat, with a tank top on," Stallone laughed. "You'll get blistered on a beach in Miami in six hours! So, we definitely pushed that envelope a little too far."
When the film opens January 25, audiences will see Sly in a jungle environment, once again wielding his bow and arrow and extremely large knife. "I was looking for a subject that had both feet in reality, which is Burma," he said, referring to the country that is now officially called the "Union of Myanmar." "I called Soldier of Fortune magazine, and I said, 'What is the most underreported, egregious display of human-rights violations on the planet that no one knows about?' And they said Burma. [Abuses in the country have] been going on for 60 years, and it's a horror show, but it's a well-financed coup, and the propaganda machine buries all the atrocities that are going on there."
http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1576850/20071219/story.jhtml
Attorney John Rambo, who represents Hampton Utility District, then addressed the commission.
"I want to address some of our concerns that have led to the resolution before you," said Rambo. "There is a need for a long-term, viable water source for Carter County. The question is, how do we get there?"
Rambo said Carter County's vision of regional water has not been achieved in six years, and that the Private Act should be amended.

'RAMBO' RETURNS
By PETER LAURIA
December 17, 2007 -- Fear not, Times Square tourists, John Rambo will protect you from terror this holiday season.
Beginning tomorrow, this 78-foot-tall, graffiti-inspired image of the warrior whom Sylvester Stallone first brought to the silver screen in 1982 will be unveiled on the side of a building on Seventh Avenue north of 47th Street.
"Rambo" will keep watch over Times Square Jan. 25, the date Lionsgate will debut the fourth installment in the film franchise.
Tim Palen, Lionsgate co-president for theatrical marketing, said that with nearly 20 years gone by since "Rambo III" hit the big screen, the studio wanted to do something to make sure the new film stood out from the crowd.
"You have to scream loud when you're screaming," he said.

I saved a quote from back in May of 2006 and oh how blind sided we all were......
Ok guys just got done X-terminating spiders around the house. Found a fiddle back (brown recluse - they're nasty) last night and another today, so I figure it was time to spry some good-ol-fashion chemicals.
Anyway while doing that I got to thinking.....so know I will get on my soap box for a minute....
Let me first address pegintex's concerns:
"sub penny soon.....
Scam from the get go."
Let us for a moment view the situation from Emmett and Furla's perspective. Here are two relatively young guys and newcomers to the movie industry. They have been growing both in recognition and in experience since 2000. It is now 2006 and they have finished producing 16 Blocks along with some other big movies with many more in the pipeline. They have deals set up with the bigboys in this industry (Mellenium, LGF, Artisan, etc...), they have contacts and a growing reputation. Just this month they recieved a $1M bonus of which they were entitled to 60% per their contract. They didn't get this bonus because they did an average job, no they got it because they did a better than expected job. This means they are gaining momentum in the business and being recognized.
Ok so now we have two guys who are doing quite well for themselves ($300k per year + bonuses) and when they begin producing bigger buget films and more of them they will be banking even more. So they have quite a good motivation to be successful and if E&F are successful then FMLY will be successful (just read the 10K). Now with all these opportunities and with their carriers now taking off why in the world would E&F think of running a penny stock SCAM!!! It doesn't make any logical sense. They are going to sell us shares keep they cash and get thrown in jail by the SEC. If they were going to run a scam then FMLY should be a pink sheet, everyone knows that. I'm done talking about the "scam theory". I think anyone who takes a moment to seriously consider FMLY realizes that it is not a scam.
My second point deals more with the happenings of today. Today we experienced a sell off. I think some people were expecting the 10K to make the pps explode and when it didn't they sold. I personally used today to buy more shares at .015. For those of you who got in from .02 to .024 (I'm there with you I bought $4K worth at .022) don't worry too much right now. Spa and wenshar have been in FMLY for a VERY long time and at a much higher average and they just kept doing their DD today, ! Like many have said before FMLY is a long term play and in 3 months you won't even remember today. I know it hurts to see your account get smaller (mine fluctuated from $16,600 to $11,200). But we could see this hit .025 in one day with some heavy buying so don't get to hung up about it. Also consider this shake as a way to shake out some short term holders and put shares in the hands of us LONGS. The effective float is thus reduced which means we need less buying pressure to move us back up. Whenever you have a bad day like today just ask yourself..."how many pennystocks do I know that I can look up their products, watch them, check on their status daily, see if they are successful, watch the company continue to grow, with complete transparency"....I think the answer will be..."one (as far as I know)".
I suggest everyone who is a little shaky take a breather and remember we could see .025 tommorow or the next day or higher with IMO even a little momo. I believe FMLY is still under the radar as far as many other investors are concerned. I think E&F need to work on their PR skills and need to make FMLY better recognized as a true investment. They need to work on raising the pps to get other heavy players in on FMLY.
Remember this is a company that is poised for quality growth and 2006 is a turn around year IMO. The PPS will lag (which makes for great entry points), but will eventually climb higher. I think many people may find FMLY frustrating because it doesn't move like so many other penny stocks (on pure hype PRs, rumors, fluff, etc). When this starts to move consistently upwards more people will begin to realize that FMLY is a quality investment unlike so many penny stocks out there.
Ok...I'm off my soapbox now...don't make me do that again!
Lets have a great day tommorow!
