Holistic Manufacturing
With traditional manufacturing, most objects are typically made up of separate parts that need to be produced, shipped to the same location, and then assembled. With what is known as “holistic manufacturing,” companies print complex designs in a single operation, effectively consolidating many different parts. GE’s widely discussed 3D-printed fuel injection system for its new jet engine is a great example of holistic manufacturing that produced great efficiency — and cost savings — by consolidating 21 separate parts into one. Many companies are now actively looking for opportunities like this to apply holistic manufacturing to their products, making it one of the most promising — and potentially most disruptive — uses for industrial 3D printing.

You are absolutely right. no word about profits.
I don't expect any profit for 2015, but I am investing for years, not months.
I expect the company to be very profitable within 2 or 3 years, and I expect that for Arcam as well.
Biggest EBM market within five years?
In my believe:
Heavy duty construction parts with extreme weight-strength ratio
In my opinion within five years the biggest market for EBM will be in heavy duty construction parts.
First of all parts like brackets in aviation, keywords for properties are; extreme force/loads in a specific direction, extreme demanding in weight to strength ratio.
In my believe within five years per plane more construction parts are EBM manufactured than there are turbine blades within that plane.
In other sectors these “low weight” construction parts are very welcome as well:
Think about race car construction parts, military vehicles, mining vehicles and equipment, cranes, shovels, bridges, etc.
Now the base material for EBM manufacturing is very expensive, suppose in five years that price is lowered with 50%.
We are on the base of a new aera, there is much to discover, and markets have to recognise the possibilities for their specific implementation.

For example: A team of Northwestern University engineers has created a new way to print three-dimensional metallic objects
The process takes a very intense energy source, such as a focused laser or electron beam, that moves across a bed of metal powder, defining an object's architecture in a single layer by fusing powder particles together. New powder is placed on top on the previous layer, and these steps are repeated to create a 3-D object. Any unfused powder is subsequently removed, which prevents certain architectures, such as those that are hollow and enclosed, from being created. This method is also significantly limited by the types of compatible metals and alloys that can be used.

What I see in shortanalytics is still a very positive sign:
Little investors are shortcovering their stock, and with that little shortpositions the market is not expecting the stockprice to drop much more.
Knowing that, and what we have seen from GE, and what we expect to happen in the near future...

They do not mention what data they are using, so for me it's a question as well.
One opinion:
I've looked at this site before and decided it is impossible to verify its data or conclusions. (at least for me) They use a proprietary algorithm and public data to draw the conclusions but don't specify what it's based on. Since every transaction needs a buyer and a seller, I find it hard to believe that someone can figure out what percentage of the transactions are 1- short seller selling 2- short seller covering 3- stock buyer buying 4- stock buyer selling. If a short seller sells me 1000 shares of MNKD is that classified as a short or a long on the graph? Not enough info on the method for it to be useful to me. It seems to me that if I could only get my crystal ball working again I could come up with equally valid estimates. :)

SLM Solutions Group; sales
The German 3D printer manufacturer SLM Solutions Group AG today announced to have exceeded its sales expectations for the fiscal year 2015th
Without first to give a precise figure, is Chief Financial Officer Uwe Bögershausen expressed in a press release: "We will have exceeded the announced 55 to 60 million euros in sales."
New orders in the SLM Solutions Group AG amounted to a total of 102 machines. In the previous year, a volume of 62 3D printer machine was achieved.
Growth recorded SLM Solutions among others in North America, but also in Southeast Asia. The customers came from the aviation industry, but also from the automotive sector and the field of energy and medicine.
After the first nine months of 2015, sales had almost doubled over the previous year.

I am invested in the stock, and have high expectations.
How will FASTEBM look like?
In my opinion faster printing means more than just higher printing speed.
The real meaning is a shorter production time of the total process.
With that in mind I believe the new system will look a bit different:
Heating up takes time.
Cooling down takes time
Removal of the produced parts take time
Cleaning of the production chamber takes time
Changing to other powder systems takes time
Vacuum pumping after opening takes time.
Etc.
That's why I see a more complex system for FASTEBM
Probably it will look like a MetalFAB1 system

GKN is ready, Boeing is ready, Safran has some systems operational.
I suggest they are all working on the FAA approval.
Maybe that's why the CEO of Arcam wants to be close to the FAA
Manufacturing Inspection Offices to support his clients.
Most of the Inspection Offices are in the USA, for example there is one in Burlington, Massachusetts.

When we take a realistic look on the possibilities for EBM in aviation, we first have to consider what the specific qualities are for EBM, and then relate them to the qualities of competitive production systems.
The competitor is Laser sintering in aviation (EOS) and Selected laser Melting.
For what I have read the advancements and disadvancements of EBM compared to the other systems are:
Advancements:
Speed (fabrication)
Speed (no treatment needed after fabrication)
Less internal stress in the product
Costs in powder
Costs total process
Disadvancements:
Accuracy
My expectations:
By one or more companies LPT1 blades will be printed by EBM, the blades for higher compression parts need a more accurate production system.

In many articles I have read that engine brackets are printed with EBM.
Printed at 25% lower costs than conventional production, quicker, lighter, and enviromentaly cleaner.
Most companies are working on flight certification of the produced parts.
Besides engine brackets there are several more construction parts in airplanes that are suitable for EBM production.
For airplanes:
I believe, measured in weight. in several years the total amount of parts printed with EBM will exceed the total of the engines.

Arcam’s ambition is to communicate information internally and externally so that information about the company and its operations, as well as confidence in the company, is maintained.

The EBAM system of SCiaky is a total different system, used for large parts with very little precision. (tolerance of 2 mm?).
So, a different business, not comparable with EBM or SLM / SLS
