DD: Your post is classic elitism. The majority of people in the U.S. do not hold a college degree. And many of those who do are "educated" idiots.
lj: Plenty of airline fuel is being used, at taxpayers' expense, flying illegals into the U.S.
Now they are bringing in the Haitians. There is no end in sight to the illegal actions of an out-of-control Government. JMO, of course.
lj: 87 octane gasoline is $3.50 a gallon on average around here. VLO hitting an all-time high this week is not a surprise, if their capacity is still at roughly 82 percent of full capacity. Don't know when they switch over to the summer blend. I would repurchase the shares I sold this week only if the stock were below $120. IMO, the stock price is in the stratosphere.
Gmenfan: Thanks for posting the link. Bill Ackman went after Harvard after the Dean apparently did nothing about "attacks" on Jewish students by the pro-Hamas crowd. He attacked DEI, exposing it as the sham it is. Imo, it is a racket. People make big money from DEI "training". This has been happening for decades.
lj: EGY
I hope to follow it up to about $6.65 a share and plug the well.
lj: VLO
I was looking to sell shares earlier in the week, so I sold Friday's (3/15) $55 call.
That was a mistake, but $55 a share is a good price. $65 was an even better price, which is the price at which I sold half of my position yesterday. VLO hit an all-time high yesterday. I owned some of the shares since 2009!
lj: Shares called at $50 today. Big money $50 put sellers kept the price about $50 all day? Maybe that is being too cyncial.
lj: So, did EGY's wonderful Q4 earnings report escape your notice?
I am not sure that the acquisition of the interest in the Swedish company is smart, given that the reserves are in deep water off Cote d'Ivoire. And their hedge contracts aren't exactly brilliant either. But the company has wonderful cash flow and no debt.
The stock had a good day today, at long last.

Gmenfan: Update. Bill Ackman contributed $10K to her GoFundMe account.
Commie Bernie proposes a 35-hour-work week. It is part of the Marxist planned destruction of America.
DD: That post tells readers everything they need to know about you.
al44: Actually, you have to wonder who is behind the current unrest in Haiti? It is a black-op to create a huge wave of Haitians migrating to the U.S. who could legitimately claim to be refugees. They need to keep every one of them out of here. Enough is enough.
DD: Because the Biden Administration has turned everything to s***, all your side has left are stupid memes. That is it.
lj: The weather has been ridiculously mild. Ngas prices are ridiculously low, and VTLE has pushed past $50 a barrel. VLO is also up crazily. This might be an opportunity to unload shares of VLO that I have owned for 25 years. But in the back of my mind, I'm thinking as long as the Fed keeps pumping liquidity into the system to delay the disaster until after the election, VLO might hit $200 a share.
XOM has not gone crazy. It is up only a few dollars. What does that tell us?
It tells me the next move is down.
VLO: $50 and change. That should be the top, but who knows.
lj: GME was a horse of a different color. Robinhood!
lj: NVDA
I wouldn't be surprised to see it hit $1K. It was up a crazy amount again today.
Gmenfan: They are going to pull a stunt and get rid of the senile old fart. He will not be their candidate. Today we learn that he had classified documents that he gave to the guy who was the ghost writer of his book. What this says to me is the raid on Mar al Lago was another case of the evildoers projecting their illegalities onto Trump.
lj: Egg prices are a real problem. They are used in baked goods, mayonnaise, etc.
Shrimp salad is almost unaffordable now.
High egg prices--good news for the Trump campaign.
lj: Another excellent post. A single comment. If Bitcoin does drop 90 percent, watch for the next move up and start buying MSTR hand over first if it is still around.
Again, the strains on the grid are AI, crypto-mining, EV's, and illegals.
How much energy do the 10M or more illegals who have entered since 2020 use?
Plenty. Of course, they spend what is left after they send money home. They use their own payment system--it isn't Venmo--but something of that nature.
Are illegals propping up the economy?
Could the man Nikki probably hates the most in the world create the bureaucratic, and let's face it, military infrastructure to send home 10, 20M people? Ask Ann Coulter whether she believes he would keep that promise!
And, lj, so we watch the U.S. come apart at the seams.
Quote from the Bad Orange Man at his rally yesterday in Rome, Georgia:
"Everything Biden touches turns to s***". Yep, he actually said that. The danger of using that tactic is that Biden might not be the Democratic candidate at the end of the day/Democratic Convention. Bad move, imo, to run on attacking Biden instead of running on his proposed fixes, which is what he did in 2016.
And, after this, I wonder whether that simp Mike Johnson, or Mr. Bobblehead, will still be in favor of supporting the Ukraine War. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13179327/Dramatic-moment-Russians-destroys-two-400m-Patriot-surface-air-missile-systems-one-hypersonic-Iskander-strike-costly-blow-Ukraine.html
The weekend is over, so I'll say Happy Daylight Savings Time.
Russia scores big. Not one more red cent of U.S. taypayers' dollars to fund this mess. The fool Mike Johnson was shaking his head in agreement at the State of the Onion address, at the beginning, when Sleepy Joe said we need to continue to support Ukraine.

lj: deficit spending
As far as I am concerned, House Speaker Mike Johnson has to go. He caved on MAGA's demand that unless the border is closed, there will be no continuing resolution. The spending bill about to be passed has a LOT of the usual trash in it. People are not going to understand why this is a problem until the U.S. dollar is worth half of what it is worth now.
Kyle Bass sounded the alarm on CNBC today, and they let him give his rap in full.
Next week, I buy physical gold and silver. This is not going to end well.
Another plan I have is to transfer stocks from brokerages to direct registration.
If brokerages go under, at least my stock will be registered on the company's books.
I remember my parents' stories about the Great Depression.
At tonight's State of the Union, I hope Margorie Taylor Green calls Bilden a liar multiple times. If the Republicans had integrity, they would walk out. But there are few MAGA members of Congress. Lots of RHINO's, like Nikki. Lots of RHINO's who continue to run up the Federal debt.
LJ: OT
At 2:00 a.m. EST, it is 50 degrees here. Temps should be in the low 40's. These higher night temps mean lower ngas usage. I guess in the not-too-distant future, ngas prices will be negative! Maybe
LJ: VTLE
U may recall that I sold March 15 $50 calls. I am optimistic that they will expire unexecuted, knowing the stock is a real dog.
LJ: 2020 changed the whole car-sales model, no pun intended. No longer can we browse a car lot and look at a big selection of new vehicles. That model worked in favor of the buyer.
Now you have to order your vehicle and wait.
The pandemic was the worst thing to hit this country since WWII. To be honest, it destroyed the American work ethic. Case in point--the chronic problem of filling retail jobs. Also, people who started working from home are loathe to return to an office setting.
Pre-pandemic, the best thing about the U.S. economy was a workforce that was the best in the world, a workforce of people who worked like Trojans (the historical figures, not the other thing).
NYBob: The 47th President,, DJT, will have 6 years to get them out of the country before the next Census. Think additional Congressional seats from population numbers bloated by illegals.
LJ: VTLE behaved exactly as I expected. Oil went up over $80, and the stock drifted down below $50. Speaking of NVDA, the price is really crazy. The big question is whether the algos will get it to $1K a share.
I am back in black ink with MSTR. Not confident it will follow through today (Thursday).
r59: NYCB
Not a bad idea. Will wait to see whether the stock drifts back down a bit and maybe do a buy-write.
DD: Good point on the number of Haley votes. Her percentages in some States were surprisingly high. But, as a neighbor told me just the other day, "I cannot stand Trump, but what choice do I have." There are as many Biden haters as Trump haters.
The Democrats cannot win due to the border. African-Americans know they are going to be pushed out of jobs. Your Party needs an underclass they can control. They no longer control African Americans.
lj: Great post. There is a swamp about 40 miles or so from where I am typing this that needs to be drained, not preserved.
al44: Poll workers will never turn them away, for fear of being arrested by the liberal lawfare crazies. Many poll workers need the supplemental income, and they cannot afford a legal defense. Also, there is the fear of violence.
Illegals can vote, period.
This is a self-destructive nation, al44.
al44: re: Rob Reiner
Both!
valuemind: TM
Perhaps because the new models come out in the fourth quarter?
Car sales are slow during the winter months.
Toyota sells vehicles world-wide, of course, so there might be lots of reasons for the lower revenue projection.
KIK: NYCB
So, given that news, are U going to buy NYCB under $2 a share? The last thing they want in an election year is a bank failure.
DD: Regardless, it was terrible to go after Mike Pence. If he hadn't certified the election, all hell would really have broken lose, not just a melee. Antifa would have burned cities. It would have been awful. Trump should have kept his powder dry and gotten proof the election was stolen.
I think it was "stolen", with fake mail-in ballots. But, there is no proof.
In a civilized society, they all would be tried, convicted and hung. I guarantee that some of the women will get off with light sentences. Actually, animal control should take them away and euthanize them.

lj: Nikki Haley did well in the liberal States of Massachusetts and Colorado. My guess is that in Colorado, people changed their registration to Republican to vote for her. Maybe not most of the people who voted for her, but enough to make the percentage she gained look good. Massachusetts is the State that elected Mitt Romney Governor. Enough said.
valuemind: TSLA
I owned TSLA and sold before the drop. I did not have a big profit, but any profit is okay.
EV's aren'tj going to cut the mustard, imo. I believe hybrids will be the most popular type of vehicles during the next decade.
The grid cannot handle EV's, not to mention AI and cybercurrency mining, but that is another issue.
I am starting to warm up to TM (Toyota Motors.) I might be too late to the party.
al44: Why do we not have a Constitutional Amendment stating that only U.S. citizens can vote? Ask yourself that question.
The Republicans have had a LOT of time to work on one. Think Mitchell McConnell wants that? I doubt it.
