This is not the kind of "interesting " I was thinking of.
And I agree with word lender the stock will be very interesting over the next six months.
Looking at the buy orders on IHUB, there were over 8 million shares purchased after 4 pm. I do not understand the manipulation involved with the Russell index but there must be a lot of BioPath Bulls out there (along with a lot of bullshit).
It appears to m that the drop in PPS was a knee jerk reaction to the dilution of shares. Surprisingly the short selling has decreased according to the charts on short analytics.com. We will see if we recover tomorrow.
It appears that many investors and traders did not share my opinion that this would be a positive event for BioPath. The drop from 1.55 to 1.30 was dramatic but hopefully we can recover in the next day or two. The short sellers will be chattering after the close but I suspect that the sudden large volume was due to short selling.
BPTH to issue $25M in common stock through Cantor Fitzgerald. Is this the "news"? Does anyone know anything about Cantor Fitzgerald. My initial impression is that this is good news for us. While our shares will be diluted, the company will have cash available for developing the drugs and the common stock offering will give us added exposure.
What y'all think?
I am in! (if I live that long)
One should never try to pick An exit point on a stock under $1.50 with zero revenue. That said, I have violated this fundamental rule and have charted my personal strategy. But, like BPTH2008, I have financial stress (being retired since 2008). So the strategy changes from month to month. In the past year I have (regrettably) sold shares at low prices to meet financial obligations.
When this gem starts to fly (note I said "when" not "if")I plan to sell a few shares at $3, more at $10 but to meet my lofty goals, I need to hold a large share for $20.
Now if someone told me they were holding a $1.40 stock until it hit $20, I would call them crazy. So there you have it, I am crazy but very optimistic. And this strategy will be adjusted based on reality.
Looking at other biotechs, $20 is very possible based on potential alone. In fact $80, even $140 is possible......look at BMRN and CLVS
I am betting on the "over" as well but I will be happy to supply a bottle of your favorite when "the price is right".
How many of you are betting on phase II safety news being released by June 30? Surely, they can treat six patients in the 4 1/2 months since enrollment began. Or not?
The short sellers on Yahoo board are not talking much. Most comments are "setting up for a run"' "want to add to position (long)". Yesterday there was a large volume of short selling but the PPS held up and today's volume suggests we are ready for a run. We just need the momentum of some positive news.
SJ, you might want to get ready for a "double" to sip along with the double digit increase. (There I go being overly optimistic again)
Yes, but if I were not optimistic, I would be pessimistic. That would suck, so I have to be optimistic. I should try to be realistic.
I agree. The issues with Russell index and safety phase of the trial should both be public knowledge before end of June. If we have positive news and don't get a bump in the PPS, I might be worried.
Wonder how the "safety phase" of phase2 study is going. Perhaps someone could wake up Rip Van Nielson and check on the news. Patient recruitment was announced Feb 9.......That's four months.
The shorts are destroying us. Look at the last minute of trading today. Simple stock manipulation. This won't be reversed until we have some phase 2 news.
Goooodbye resistance! Is our next stop $1.70? Ready to finally top 50 day MA. Now for the hard part....the last three hours of the day.
Expect the short sellers to jump out in the last hour of trading. Do we have enough momentum to stay above $1.44? I hope so, something is driving this volume. I don't know what it is but expect some type of news later this week.
Hey SJ, is the paint dry yet?
I agree. I am avoiding the daily stock action on most days by fly fishing. The fishing has been great and keeps me away from the computer from 7am to 7 pm.
Today the short traders were very quiet.......no comments at all. The BPTH Bulls were buying and talking $1.30-1.40. I might speculate that today's action suggests new buyers. Is it possible that this is the first hint of a IR firm working for us? As SJ says, "hope springs eternal".??
Is this just a technical rebound or is there something else driving the stock price today? A technical rebound is certainly overdue but it would be nice to have some big news.
Is this the week that the ba*****s will bring us down to $1? They are trying. Where is the IR firm? When will we have new board members? When will someone educate the big investors about liposomal Grb-2? Frustration!
Once again the smart guys are buying today...$1.25. What a bargain but something of a disaster for retired guys who need income from investments. You know, guys like me. No tears please but it's hard to live a decadent lifestyle with stock prices falling. ??????
A good time to appreciate good health, great wife, fantastic kids and grandkids, and the blessing of living in Coeur d Alene, Idaho, USA.
Peter Nielson is scheduled to present today at the TIDES conference but it appears the presentation will not be carried on the website. Why?
I hope the presentation will be posted in entirety but this will be another non-event as far as stock price is concerned.
I agree, SJ, the company needs to be focused on Grb-2 for AML for short term success and to establish cash flow. The longer term however requires development of a pipeline. Looking at examples like ISIS and BMRN, their inflated stock price must be related to multiple drugs in development.
If we get promising data for using Grb-2 in TNBC and IBC, or using Bcl-2 for multiple solid rumors, we will have a market cap of 5-10 Billion.
The other avenue for rapid growth is out-licensing of the delivery system. I don't know why this has not happened yet.
A bunch of traders on Yahoo Market Pulse are planning to short BPTH in the morning so I hope we still have some institutional buyers to push the price up. It could be an interesting day.
It's impossible to predict how long the rally will last but with 4.9M shares traded today I can't believe the volume will disappear in one day. The stock has a long way to go; today's action means little in the long run (but it's a great start).
The buying and selling today shows how little control we have as shareholders. The news brought some big buyers in but when the price hit $1.50 the traders started selling. We needed another institutional buyer to step in.....That may happen in the next few days but who knows? My adrenalin level is pumped up.....I hope we have some fun.
Unbelievable. We still end up at 1.36. Wake me when this is over, I need a martini.
As usual, I spoke too soon! Look at this SOB go. Suddenly volume is over 300,000 and price is up 10%. Are we on our way? I can't see my ship yet but that may be a puff of smoke on the horizon.
This should be "kickass news". So far all I see is a slight increase in volume with sellers equal to buyers......WTF? Maybe it takes some time for the news to be seen and understood?
The most important comment in the newsletter was "the time is right for Bio-Path to implement a more active investor communications program".
The other important statement was about using an investment bank to offer shares at prevailing market price. A first class investment firm along with an investor communications program will go a long ways toward solving the current problems IMO.
These statements suggest that Peter has listened to advice from shareholders but he has not tipped his hand about adding board members.
The Market Pulse on Yahoo finance had been very quiet on BPTH but now, optimism is abundant. Some have a short term target of $1.90 but others are saying $5.00 plus (these guys are traders). My DD tells me that $5 is only the beginning.
I feel so much better when the stock is going up. It looks like things have "turned around" and the buyers are taking over. Are these new buyers or shorts covering?
SJ: amen brother. At least we had a better day. A lot of buyers, few sellers and we reversed the downward trend. Now, PLEASE release some good news and send this stock up where it belongs.
More evidence of a total lack of confidence in the company and executives. If they don't announce something positive we may be able to buy more shares for $1. I hope it turns around soon.
I understand that the potential new board members met with Peter Nielson two weeks ago and expressed their unhappiness with BPTH's progress. These guys have the knowledge and ability to start the IR campaign and work with Wall Street whereas Peter does not have Wall Street experience.
If Peter does not accept them as board members we can have a shareholders meeting and with 25% of outstanding shares can elect them. I understand they have secured at least 30M shares to back the proposal.
I understand that the prospective board members want Peter Nielson to continue as CEO.
My information is "second hand" but probably accurate.
As individual investors, it is appropriate to send emails to Rhonda Chiger and state that you would vote your shares to add new board members.
It seems that panic could be setting in. Remember as investors we cannot make emotional decisions.
The rational path for us now is to support appointment of new board members who will push the company to be aggressive in support of higher PPS. They need to work with the CEO but to separate the dual role of CEO/Chairman. I do not see any sign that this is a "pump and dump"situation. The insiders and other big investors have not been selling. We have over ten years of science from MD Anderson that support the concept of this delivery system and drug.
I expect positive advances in the next six months.
I bought a lot of restricted shares from their private offerings. It could not be sold for one year. My trading account is with Schwab and they could not take my shares until they were listed on Nasdaq. It took about one month to do the paper work and get the shares transferred to my account but Schwab had a department to handle it so it was easy for me.
Many of us share your frustration. I am confident that some significant investors are putting pressure on the executive team and expect that positive things will result. It is hard for me to be patient but what choice do we have?
IND application for triple negative and inflammatory breast cancer will occur.
Initial safety study for ara-C/grb-1 will be successful.
IND application for the second drug is not far away.
Licensing deals can not be far behind.
New board members will be appointed and increase Wall Street awareness.
I can not be pessimistic about the future.
