Rheeman, to me the BB Bands seem to be seperating, not narrowing, which, frankly, I think would be preferable. If we were within the bounds of narrow bands, I think the piercing would be to the downside. Especially after the the significant move we've had.
To be honest, since the small and mid-caps have been leading this move, I think the focus should shift to the $RUT.
BTW, everyone have a terrific, relaxing, and CAREFUL weekend.
Hello all. Just got in. Had something to eat, after the funeral, and it bit me back, harder then I bit it. Been sick for 2 days. Stuff was leaving me every which way. Aaaaaaarrrrrrggggggghhhhhh!!!! Hope all had a week full of beans!!!
Thank you, maddogg. He did live a full and happy life. I would be thrilled to know that my own would be comparable.
Thank you, Rheeman. (COMPX) if it turns green, I think it will, only, be momentarily. I see a sell-off on the close. IMO
Thank you, My Friends!!!!
Fred & Hawk, thanks for your kind thoughts.
Folks, my father-in-law died Sat. night. I will be going to Chicago, tomorrow, where he will be buried. His funeral will be Wed.. I expect to come home Thurs. night. He did live to be 93 and had a very full life. His health had been weakening the last couple of years, so his demise was not unexpected.
Rheeman, Friday was not just an Engulf Bear, but it was also a "key reversal" on the COMPX. It made a new 52 week high, then closed lower. Classic!!
Rheeman, I use a 13 day EMA, which I consider invaluable, especially the slope. I would look for, at least, initial support at 1728. Of couse, I'd prefer to be wrong, and you be right. But, things just don't feel as good as they did from May 'til end of July. Frankly, the market fulfilled what I had anticipated, time wise. Plus, I'm still a believer that late summer and early fall, is a treacherous time to be in the market.
Glenda, you're right. A loss, or for that matter a profit, is not realized until you sell. But DEAD $$ ($$ being tied up in a falling stock) is worthless. I'd rather be liquid and looking for bargains, then hoping for a stock to "come back." IMO
Hawk (GOAM), It may be bottoming. But isn't their delisting grace period about over?
Fred, another great thing about a Mac is that viruses aren't written for them. You Windows users are blessed with that :-}}
Liz, you're no more a foreigner then I am. LOL
Glenda, "doom and gloom" may be a little strong. Seasonally speaking, between now and, say, mid-Oct., is a good time to be in cash and looking for bargains. I'm not bearish, as much as I think the market is vulnerable to a strong sell-off.
Fred, given that we inflating, economically, being in anything interest rate sensitive, for me, would not make any sense. IMO, areas that would benefit would be Gold and tangible assets. Considering that rising energy prices will contribute to the re-inflating, Nat Gas, Oil Service, as well as domestic Oil companies would make sense. Also, IMO, anything sensitive to China's economic growth will be immune to any sell-off we'll be looking at. The names you mention are sound, except the Mortgage Inv Co. raises a red flag for me. But I'd look at IVAN, CHK, MUR, GV, GOLD, GW, TXCO, just to name a few. I'll do some research over the weekend and see if I can find anything else of interest, which, of course, I will post. FWIW
(COMPX) Looks like we're setting up for a Bearish Engulfing Pattern. I see the potential for a fall to 1680, on the COMPX. FWIW
Liz, do you mean Kentucky Derby winner, Funny Cide? LOL
Rheeman (COMPX), how's it looking to you now? Personally, I think the areas to look for strength, in the short term, is energy, gold, maybe Biotechs, and foreign Internet stocks. Everything else, IMO, is vulnerable to some damage. I would hazard a guess that Monday will be the beginning. FWIW
Fred, I don't think we've had a "summer sell-off" to speak of. A couple of mild corrections, yes. But a sell-off, I don't think so. If we're in store for some damage, I think we're getting real close to the beginning.
I shudder to think what the market would have done, were it not for INTC's news. But even with that news, the market can't seem to maintain any momentum. IMO
Looks like INTC will make sure we don't gap down!! World looks a little better, now.
Ron, it's hard to call a top on enery futures, right now. But, there's no reason to think they won't trend higher through the winter!! FWIW
Ron, we're also at a 5 month high in Gasoline Futures. That will put a drag on a lot of industries and stocks.
Rheeman (COMPX), if we gap lower, tomorrow, you'll be able to call it a "Dojii Star." In addition, I'm concerned about the downward trend in the volume. I hope I'm wrong, but I think we just might gap down tomorrow. I have nothing other then my gut feel to go by, but the market just couldn't sustain any strength today, or for that matter, recently.
Marcos, personally, I'm still concerned about the market. It just can't seem to sustain any strength. Call it lack of conviction. I'm, pretty much, sitting and watching. I can't seem to get excited about anything. It seems just as I'm about to, the bubble bursts.
Marcos (GMST), FWIW, it looks to me like the stock is trying to bottom. It's, already, a tad oversold and some of my indicators are, actually, beginning to point upward. JMO
Fred & Marcos, FWIW, I'm using Nicotrol to try to quit smoking. I feel like I'm walking around with a "Binkie." So far, it's helping. It does everything for me a cigarette does, but without the smoke. The downside is that it gives me a sore throat. But, there's a trade off for everything, I guess.
Glenda, I haven't bought a thing, in about a week and a half. I don't like the lack of conviction, in the overall market. Plus, the volume is underwhelming me. I'll stay on the sidelines until things clear up, for me. I'm even toying with the idea of going short, ie INTC. FWIW
toonce (ATML), remember when you asked about VTSS, and, I said that VTSS and ATML trade in sync? Today was an ideal example. VTSS has come back nicely, and, I think, ATML will try it's $4.50, 52 week high. FWIW.
Rheeman, I have a lot more regard for Nison's opinion then the other guy. You, also, know that I think we bottomed last Oct.. The key will be how well we act between now and Nov.. But I wouldn't be surprised if we went against seasonal tendencies. Time will tell all.
Actually, Glenda, I do like energy. But for me, it's a seasonal play. IMO, this is the time of the year to be buying Nat Gas Stocks, for a hold inot Feb. FWIW
(WAVX), it's beginning to look like, at least to me, the stock is about through correcting. If it gaps up, tomorrow, I would jump on it. If it does gap up, we'll have a Morning Star pattern, which would be very bullish. FWIW. IMO.
And a very good one, I might add. Experience has proven it to me.
Glenda, I liked all the stocks on the list. I haven't bought any yet. When I do, I'll post which one at the time I buy.
MAROC (GAIT), with only 1900 shares, traded, it's hard to have an opinion. FWIW
Anyone, besides Hawk and Ron, awake? ZZzzz?
Welcome, Glenda. Good to hear from you. I hope all is well. You sound like it is!!
I put together a new list of stocks that look interesting, FWIW.

Let me know whaqt you'all think!!
toonce (VTSS), as bad as the chart looks, there is a silver lining. It's very oversold, plus the stock has good support at $4.50-$5. Yes, I've still got mine. I haven't been watching it much, because I have a 0 cost basis. I've been paying more attention to ATML. Both VTSS & ATML usually, trade in sync. I'm thinking that we should see some strength in the market this week, so I would, certainly, hold the stock. Now that you've pointed it out to me, and I see the level it's at, I may buy some more, here. Keep the faith.
