This is great information, thank you.
BUT, this is a public company. We shouldn't need to call the CEO to obtain this information. It is a material event and needed to be disclosed by the company soon after it happened. A $200,000 grant award is significant enough to be PR'd as well....however, this should have generated an 8-K, at the very least.
Again, thanks for communicating your interaction.
From the EXCEL file it looks like this was awarded over two months ago? What is going on with this company that they don't PR something like this? I mean it is "only" $200,000, but it is, again, $200,000...
Company: Applied Minerals Inc.
Address: 1200 Silver City Road,Eureka, US
Award Amount: $200,000.00
Project Title/Summary:
Domestic Halloysite-Derived Silicon as a Low-Cost High-Performance Anode Material for Li-Ion Batteries.
To enable the widespread adoption of electric vehicles, the cost of lithium-ion battery electrode materials must be reduced. This proposal will enable commercial production of high-performance, low-cost battery electrode material through an innovative process derived from a unique domestic mineral resource found in Utah.
Agreed. But I was being a bit flippant - I think we all know and that is why the stock price is down since that announcement. Dilution is coming, that much is pretty obvious.
I guess this begs the question: Where they going to get the $34M?
To be expected- up 100%+ this week alone - needs a day off to consolidate- should continue higher next week. JMHO
Says halted: At the Request of the Company Pending News

I know study data supposed to come back soon, perhaps it is that, or something else? Fingers-crossed.
Awesome, done! EOM
Looks like a great pick-up, congrats. This one is far, far from done.
I agree - not even started yet, totally under the radar.

Total monster - any slight pull back gets bought up - whole lot of strength - I can’t sell a share till I see some real weakness and in the past week there has been none.
Yeah they are early stages, but this has real potential.
I found it on my own - looking for lithium plays/battery metals plays that hadn’t moved yet. Took some work - but with a M/C of $7M (at the time) and company actually functioning it seemed like a no-brainer that it would get some buzz eventually. When I saw it didn’t have a board on here I started one, and figured it was just that no one knew about it and that was why the price was were it was at the time.
You out? I still have a bunch, but my average is .16. I wanna see where this goes so I am riding the wave for now.

totally - there are only 60M shares fully diluted - that means dollars to me with any decent news.
Hey - welcome. I agree with you. This has all the makings of an outright monster.

Couldn’t agree more. When the old CEO, Mr. Z, was interviewed in 2018 he said to that proactive investors lady that the anode application was 3 years away...now it is 3 years later and we are still in the “early stages”. Huh? Are they just setting the bar low or have they not been able to advance the tech till now? Perhaps they were too focused on other (seemingly, ultimately, unsuccessful) avenues of revenue and are just now getting serious with the batt tech? Who knows, but without more information, we are left guessing.
Still hopeful on this one, but the latest move is despite management, not because of it. Hopefully they are getting their acts together over there and we can make the trek higher from here. It is possible, they just need some execution.
Company also tweeted out the news today - that is positive if they are going to re-engage with social media to communicate better - nice to see.
I’m with ya - totally - hopefully we get some news of real substance sooner rather than later - I agree that real news on the batt front sends this into orbit. I mean the last “news” of a deal they didn’t even PR and it went from .006 to .125 - we could see a similar percentage move from here on the right news PR’d - that is what I am still holding for.
Anyone paying attention knows they are current have annual sh meetings and are not “defunct” - this update really isn’t an update at all except for people totally not paying attention.
Don’t get me wrong - it is cool and all but I don’t see folks bidding huge into this - also, if this is the update it kinda signals that we aren’t going to hear much again for awhile —As I am sure you know, signaling a lack of near-term catalysts is a great way to bleed a low-float stock over time....
JMHO
I think if anything the update solidifies a base but I don’t see this sending us over near term highs of .125, though I’d surely welcome it if it does.
To be honest -
The most exciting aspect of this company - the battery angle - they said “early stages” and would let us know....
I really like this company and my sub-pennies have made me great bank here so far and I expect more in the future —- (still in and will hold most)
BUT when one actually reads this “update”, it is really a nothing-burger.
If you have an account with TD Ameritrade you have to call and speak with a rep to start an opening position here -
No new news today - but lots of volume - tells me we aren’t done yet, this still has a ways to go....and if company does put out anything positive we are off the charts...
Could be - Twitter was very active on it for about a week or so, and that has died down so def some day trading activity accounts for some of it
but maybe it is the optimist in me, but I don’t think the volume is just that. I think the Korea batt news finally made the rounds (delayed because no PR) and we saw the rise from that because EV and Battery stocks are crazy right now. Where else can you get a stock in that area that is trading with a M/C less than $5M?
So, I think we have a long way to go here, it should be a very good year and I doubt we see sub-penny again....all that is, if management doesn’t screw it up!
Saw that this is getting some attention on Twitter as of late - but I don’t believe that alone accounts for all the sudden volume.
Not sure of much other than that it is welcomed for all us long term, long holders that were accumulating in the sub-penny area. GL2A
Looks like today gunna be a good day for AMNL +42%
Well, we don't know 100% why an agreement never materialized with the other company (good question to ask, though - by the way) - The original company could have wanted the tech, but terms for a partnership were not favorable to AMNL and another company swooped in and partnered. We just don't know.
Also, it is hard to say what company is part of the agreement now. $500,000 (1M?) is a lot of money to you and I (and to Applied - a company with a M/C of only $4.5M) - but to a major batt manufacturer it is peanuts - so, it is hard to know how serious they are. There are some major players in that area (like Batech, LG, Samsung etc.), but it is impossible to know if any of them are involved and how serious they are in actual development. I am sure they aren't putting all their eggs in one basket and AMNL's solution is just one of many they are testing out.
I too share your concern about the BASF agreement that was supposed to save the company and be this big windfall that materialized absolutely nothing.
I think Carney just doesn't have anything to say right now at this stage and is scared to speculate. However, having a "vision" for the future and a "direction" for the company (and sharing it) isn't speculation and could get shareholders to understand what he is thinking for the future -
The way the meeting went, it left us with very little new information and almost an assurance that we will not hear anything from the company unless something major happens (and even then, it might be in a filing vice a press release).
I was hoping the elder CEO, Concha, was skimpy on the PRs and social media because he is up there in years, and was hoping Carney (being younger) would understand the importance and change direction upon taking over, but so far it doesn't look like it, at all.
I largely agree. This was an opportunity lost to talk to shareholders about the company and what is going on regarding the future. It was like Carney couldn't wait for it to be over and had something else to do. They ignored questions regarding why the company has been silent for so long, other than not much has happened because of COVID.
I do question why Carney didn't have a statement about taking over and his vision for the future. It is like he had a party to go to and this was the last item of the year and was (literally) phoning it in.
In short, no. Basically, COVID slowed down things they expected to occur this year, and they expect them to occur next year (good news) and they didn't say much about batt tech, but said they would issue "news" when something "material" occurs.
They did not comment on why they didn't issue a PR instead of just a filing on the Nov batt news, nor did they comment on why they haven't engaged twitter etc., other than to say they didn't have much to report this year, so they didn't.
No explanation why they didn't announce changes in management etc. outside of filings, even though those would qualify as material events either.
Very little commentary outside of that either positive or negative. Was surprised CEO didn't take the opportunity to talk for any length of time about the future of the company etc.
All three measures up for vote passed.
Whole meeting was about 15 minutes long.
Very short shareholder meeting. A bit disappointed that they wouldn't comment on their lack of use of social media and PRs to get the word out, nor commit to using their Twitter page and other platforms in the future.
They really need to engage the public more and be forward leaning. Hopefully, they start announcing events in PRs in the future as they happen and don't go dark again for nearly a year.
I understand COVID slowed things down and there wasn't much to report this year, but not issuing a PR with the Nov news is really unacceptable.
If management does the right thing - keeps concentrating on battery tech - and keeps its current float and share structure intact - with its M/C, sky is the limit here.
No - maybe it was the call on here that it peaked at .011....LOL
Nice move over .02 - hopefully holds and continues...
It’s not “promotional material” it is compliance material for a full reporting company to comply with federal law for their annual shareholder meeting. Savvy investors would, in fact, know this.
I received my notice via my broker (electronically) on November 25th.
I too am looking forward to the meeting.
It is good news, but kinda baffling why they didn’t issue a PR for such an event; give a little management cometary etc...maybe use social media to link to the PR? All that stuff wouldn’t exactly be “expensive”. Not too sure what the thinking is here with only issuing the filing...
This could be worth a whole lot more than $500k and with our current M/C this is big news IMHO. Hopefully, they make efforts to get the story out there.
