BE, or anyone else for that matter, would you mind offering an opinion as to the likelihood that RL would be using NEOM's OMS/OMI/NEOSPHERE platforms to process these mobile purchase transactions regardless of which reader is used to access the website. I must admit that I am a little technically challenged as I attempt to understand exactly what OMI/OMS/Neoshpere does and how it relates to the overall scheme of things. TIA
Our Optical Messaging and Interchange platforms (OMS and OMI) create, connect, record, and transmit the transactions embedded in the 1-D and 2-D barcodes, like web-URLs, text messages (SMS), and telephone calls, ubiquitously and reliably. We provide the industrial and carrier-grade infrastructure to enable reliable, scalable, and billable commerce.
It's time for a little less "we owe, we owe, we owe" and a little more "so it's off to work we go"
From RL mobile site, looks like several readers are offered depending on phone/carrier combination. I do not see scanbuy anywhere:)

Thanks for your efforts. BTW NEOM has a couple open positions on the Board of Directors they need to fill by the first of the year. Perhaps you should throw your hat in the ring :)
From the 8K -- in order to recieve the next round of funding, (10/30/2008?) NEOM has obligated itself to accomplish the following milestones and IMO these are also the items that are currently in focus for management. Accomplishment of these objectives should dramaticaly improve the company's position in the rapidly accelerating PWC space race.
(1) The Company shall have completed upgrades to its NeoReader mobile phone technology to enable compatibility with multiple mobile platforms (including Java, Windows Mobile and Symbian) in compliance with Original Equipment Manufacturer standards, and with multiple barcode symbologies (including Data Matrix, Aztec, QR Code and various 1D symbologies) in each case in compliance with Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility (AIM), and/or industry standards;
(2) The Company shall have completed the development of the Neosphere base product and Application Programming Interface specifications for third party tool integration.
(3) The Company shall have begun a marketing program aimed to publicize the Company and its products and services in the marketplace and provided the Buyer with a report documenting its strategy and business model relating to its intellectual property licensing.
Item three and potential licensing revenue will, IMO be the most likely to generate significant revenue in the short term.
Ok -- I tried to download the reader but my Blackberry is not supported.
Here are a couple of related links. Don't have time to find out whose reader they are using but would be curious if someone has time to investigate.

Sony-C902-Cybershot-Advances-the-Mobile-Camera---Sony-Ericsson-C902&id=1245251
The Sony Ericsson C902 is branded with the Cybershot name, and the 5.0 megapixel camera offers auto focus and face recognition software. Sony Ericsson has placed shortcuts to the most helpful camera shortcuts around the screen of the phone which can be touched to access things like zoom, flash and effects. These touch sensitive icons can quickly enable you to select the shortcut you need, for example turning on the flash or enabling macro mode. The C902 also supports HSDPA Mobile Broadband, has an FM radio with RDS support and Bluetooth 2.0.
The biggest difference between the older K850 and the new C902 is that Sony Ericsson have put some real thought into protecting the high quality lens, users can now use a slide feature to open and capture cover the lens when not in use, a feature that other manufacturers should really take notice of. It is a basic problem that after owning a mobile phone for some time the exposed lens gets clogged with all manner of grit and dust purely as there is no cover protecting it.
The C902 has been initially released on O2 in the UK but further network rollouts are expected very soon, in particular onto the Orange network which will double the amount of tariffs on offer and make finding the correct package for a consumers usage requirements that much easier.
Nice!! Thanks for posting dlethe01.
This is starting to look like a snowball at the top of a very big hill!!
From the Spanair site:
The readers are located at the exclusive Mobile Boarding Pass Check-in counters at the airports:
this will drive curiosity IMO
Receive your boarding pass on your mobile phone
https://www.spanair.com/web/en-gb/Services/Web-Check-In/Mobile-Boarding-Pass/
Now all passengers on Spanair flights departing from Madrid, Barcelona, A Coruña, Alicante, Bilbao, Palma de Majorca, Seville, Valencia and Vigo can enjoy this new state of art.
In the last step of our Web Check-in Service you have the option to select either a paper boarding pass or the new mobile boarding pass (on all flights departing from Madrid, Barcelona, A Coruña, Alicante, Bilbao, Palma de Majorca, Seville, Valencia and Vigo). Once you select the mobile boarding pass and fill in your mobile number, you will receive a multimedia message (MMS) on your mobile phone. This MMS includes a bidimensional code as well as all the important information about your flight, such as flight number, departing time and gate, seat number etc.
At the airport you only need to scan the bidimensional code with the special readers to receive a receipt to pass the security control and board the aircraft.
And this--Not sure if there is any connection here.

Email response from Scottrade. NEOM is restricted anyone know of other brokers doing this?
Dear Client:
Thank you for your e-mail. Due to unusual and/or suspicious trading in certain stocks, it is occasionally necessary for Scottrade to temporarily restrict online purchases. Both stocks you placed buy orders for today were on this list of about 300 stocks on any given day.
Please note that these restrictions are temporary and they do not prevent investors from selling these securities online.
Should you have any further questions, please reply to this e-mail or contact your local branch office.

Like I said, not sure I can vouch for the accuracy of that website. The same site shows a total of 34000 for Google Earth and I just don't think that would be true. Edited to add..having dug a little deeper it appears that the website is tracking downloads of applications installed through "Version Tracker Pro" which is a subscrition PC update program. Dang, I got to take a little more time to research my posts before I post them.
From the PR, I like this paragraph in particular!!
The funds will accelerate implementation of NeoMedia's aggressive go-to-market
plans under new CEO, Iain McCready. These plans will focus on providing mobile
barcode scanning infrastructure to carriers, NeoReader scanning software to
handset manufacturers and code implementation products to the advertising
community. NeoMedia also offers flexible and creative IP licensing models to
enable each of these constituents to develop solutions that enrich the
mobile barcode ecosystem.

The time line as I know it would be that NEOM's response to USPTO is due on or before 9/3. From there I'm a little unclear as to the timeline for the examiners reply but 60 days would seem reasonable. Best case scenario is that he rules in favor of NEOM by early November and the Scanbuy case moves forward from there. A couple of things that caught my eye within the document were that the date of 7/9 should have been after NEOM was already in receipt of the USPTO office action (electronically mailed on 7/3) setting aside the claims. Also the mention of 1 of 2 patents included in the suit. The patent not subject to reexam is patent no. 5978773 wich relates to upc codes. Meanwhile I'm quite satisfied for now, that Management continues to focus on the business plan and am encouraged by recent developments.

http://www.cellphone-advertising.com/guide/nokia/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_source_software
Ever since Nokia acquired Symbian and announced that it will be made free of cost, a lot of questions have been raised. The most important question, and the most obvious one too, is the one about the hundreds of millions of dollars that Nokia stands to lose by giving away Symbian free of cost. But then, I’m surprised to notice that a lot of people can’t see the woods for the trees.
Nokia’s plans are very clear. It wants to put Google, Apple, Research In Motion, and Microsoft out of commission by making its open source software the most wanted and the most used mobile software in the world. What this open source software means to developers around the world is that they now have the opportunity to develop as many applications as possible. This will make Symbian handsets more popular than ever.
In my opinion, a lot of developers might prefer Symbian over Apple iPhone or Google Android. The reason is simple. The iPhone, as popular as it may be, is not exactly the market leader. And Google is yet to come up with Android. So, at this situation, developing apps for Symbian, which is the most popular mobile software as of now, sounds really sensible.
If developers around the world started building useful apps for Symbian handsets, it would make Symbian handsets even more popular than what they are right now and the sales will increase exponentially. In other words, Nokia will sell more mobile phones than what it does right now, thanks to this move. And that is exactly what Nokia wants.
Now, it will be interesting to see the reactions of Google, Apple, Microsoft, and RIM. Something’s gotta give. Let’s wait and watch.
Nice screenshot of Neoreader in the link.
http://www.iphonestalk.com/app-store-welcomes-neoreader-to-work-on-iphone/
NeoMedia Technologies Inc. (popularly known as NEOM) recently announced that the company’s mobile barcode scanning application called NeoReader may now be downloaded on Apple Inc.’s latest App Store without spending a cent. It can be used on the iPhone, both first and second generation of the platform.
The NeoReader lets your iPhone to be a barcode scanner that would provide the access to the mobile content as you click on 2D barcodes.
After downloading from the latest App Store via Wi-Fi or cell network, the iPhone users would simply install the application on their gadget. To those who are interestedto get the barcode scanning application on their iPhone, they may also download the NeoReader from iTunes.
According to Iaian McCready, the CEO if NeoMedia Technologies Inc., they are excited that the NeoReader was approved by Apple Inc. so that it could work on the iPhone. Through the use of the NeoReader, iPhone users would no longer type long url’s on their smartphone. Moreover, they no longer have to go through cumbersome menus. The barcodes from printed mediums such as product coupon, movie trailer and more serves as the hyperlink which would take the iPhone users on their specific web pages.
Jordan, are you using Neoreader on the Iphone? If so could you tell us about your experience. TIA
JP, your comments got me thinking about Blackberry and barcode readers so I checked their application options and it doesn't appear that they have a code reader available without purchasing an add on scanner. I sure hope they are being approached by NEOM management and something can be worked out. An Iphone/Blackberry combination would be the motherload to kickstart this technology!
Got it, Thanks
If you take the time to review the page you will see that 19% of all traffic to apple goes to the Iphone app store. Let's see 19% x 1% of daily worldwide web traffic.... well thats a pretty good start don't ya think?
Found this link but cant find anything newer than 7-30 in the app store hopefully Neoreader will be available on the site soon.
Streets where did you find those pics?

Dr, I cannot cut and paste the image but having dug a little deeper it appears that the publication was posted on 7/10/2006 so it is very out of date. I have read every post on this board for the last year and if I happen to come across something that I have not seen I'll probably post it as I'm doing a little research on my own trying to determine how much more of my hard earned money I'm willing to invest (divest) in support of our ever declining PPS. Didn't mean to create a stir. I will be more diligent with future postings to make sure they are time relevant.

Transport Based Mobile Ticketing Usage to Reach 1.8 Billion Sales by 2011
A recent report from industry analysts Juniper Research calculates that transport based mobile ticketing will grow from 37.4 million transactions in 2007 to just over 1.8 billion by 2011, with the Far East and China making up 73% of the total number of transactions worldwide.
The report found strong activity in the mobile ticketing transport sector, especially in rail and air travel. Rail in particular is one of the early success stories with strong activity in Western Europe, North America and the Far East and China regions.
The report finds that many of the early trials and pilots that were essentially marketing activities by the Operators are now being replaced by real commercial deployments owned by the ticketing and coupon owners such as Ticketmaster and the travel organisations such as the IATA (International Air Travel Association). An example of a successful mobile ticketing trial is that of Gavitec's mticketing work with Spanair Airlines in Spain where passengers received a 2D code on their mobile phones, which functioned both as ticket and boarding pass.
The report notes that a key benefit has been the reduction in the operating costs of the transport providers by way of reduced staff and building space, easing pressure on space within terminals for check-in desks, is a key driver. For the consumer Juniper Research sees one of the main drivers for mobile ticketing as being 'queue busting.' Mobile ticketing solutions allow the consumer to purchase and receive a ticket on the day of travel or the event. This functionality can be linked to VIP entrance in a fast track queue at an airport or check-in.
However, Juniper warns that there are still a number of major hurdles that need to be overcome in order for the mobile phone to be the major storage medium for tickets and coupons. These hurdles include technology challenges in the area of the delivery and redemption of mobile barcodes and the use of NFC.
Other key findings
Savings for the airline industry to be $500 million each year by migrating to mobile boarding passes
Far East and China region to become biggest region with a figure a little below 697 million
2.6 billion mobile tickets will be delivered by 2011 to 208 million mobile phone users
