Yup. Too many gifts, too few hits.
Wow. I can't believe he got him on the 11th pitch!
Niese...... Can't Reed pitch 2 innings? Clippard? TC needs to study Bochys playback.
Should have yanked matz
Thanks. Enjoy the game
Any idea when VASO reports?
Well, you know Matz won't go 7 in game 4. Can someone in the Mets pen deliver 6 outs in the middle of the game? If so, the Mets have a great shot. If not, well we've seen what happens then.....
Flores!! What a play. Anyone else nervous as the beejeeezuss on that one? Wow!!
Could be the Mets night here after all with plays like that!
Lack of execution: Noah nowhere close to getting the bunt down, 2 runners stranded. Wasted opps.
With the pitch count running high, Syndegaard will be gone by the 7th. Niese? haha. Colonic? hahaha.
Mets have to build a bigger lead here. They haven't shown that they can win a close game late since LA.
Opened a position in TROV again. It's near its 52 week low. They released a very positive PR yesterday:
I especially like this quip:
"The study data are consistent with my early clinical experience with Trovagene's technology. After testing a patient twice using tissue biopsy, the information on progression was inconclusive, despite my suspicion of the emergence of the EGFR T790M mutation," stated David Berz, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., a clinical oncologist at the Beverly Hills Cancer Center. "Under the Company's Clinical Experience Program, I ordered Trovagene's urinary liquid biopsy test, which detected the emergent mutation in relatively high abundance. This result enabled me to identify a new targeted treatment option for this patient. I'm encouraged by my experience with Trovagene's technology, and will continue to use it in my practice
No doubt. The cost of blowing game 1 was always going to be high.
It's time to fall-back on the old cliche: one game at a time.
Yup. Look, the Mets are one Familia meatball away from returning home even. In game 2, Cueto was Bumgarner. Except better. KC did what they needed to do, protecting the home turf and getting the majority of the breaks, (which consistently go to the better team).
KC took care of business. Now it's gut-check time: can the Mets do the same?
I like their chances in game 3 with Syndergaard. He's been a force at home. And Ventura has been shaky and hittable.
You Mets fans have been spoiled, not just by the Cubs sweep, but by the magnitude of the sweep. With KC, it was never going to be as easy as the starting 4 nailing down 8 innings each and Murphy taking care of the O.
Agreed. No shortage of shoddy defense by the Mets in game 1. Lest we forget, Flores hasn't been playing down to his proven liability level yet this post season.
I thought Harvey pitched fine. No, he didn't have his best stuff, but in spite of that, like all great pitchers, he gave his team had an excellent shot at winning. Up 4-3 in the ninth is a game you MUST win. Once it goes extras, the better bullpen will prevail.
Look, the Mets scored a ton of runs against the Cubbies. That was an Murphy-led anomaly in my opinion. Yes, the Mets have put some curly numbers up late in the regular season, but their calling card is the 4-2 victory with their starter going 7 1/3. Then it's the pen. Amazing to think KC's pen stacks up so well even without Holland.
Yup. Catches win matches. Cespedes looked like Canseco out there today. And the bullpens? To my mind, that's where the series will be decided. So far, no contest.
KERX is one of many, many bio stocks that have sunk to multi-year lows. Check out the action on MACK and RYLP, which were both hammered yesterday after receiving FDA approval on their PFUFA days.
The bio sector has been under pressure from politicians (Clinton) and allegations of price gouging and corruption (VRX). Gone are the days when a bio-tech would shoot up 15-20% based on a PR announcing presentation at an annual conference.
The bio sector reminds me of the tech sector in 2001; it's possible bio-tech will turn it around and the IBB will shoot past 400, but I'm pretty happy to sit on the sidelines until I see some confirmation that the bears have left the sector.
I've dipped an oar back into energy. A starter of AXAS at 1.62.
LOL, I could only wish the Mets were my team! I'm a die hard Brewers fan...still smarting from the '82 series....
Agreed on the Cubs- they certainly over-achieved this year to get this far along. Their big guns (Lester and Arrieta) had to come through for them to have a chance against the Mets and they outright failed. I can't see Arietta duplicating his season next year. And Lester? Solid, but he's no Andy Petite in the post-season, as the Royals can attest.
The cool stat they mentioned on the TV broadcast was that in July the Mets were 52-50. Just goes to show that if you have the starters in place and a reasonable bullpen, a few key pieces can make the difference in October.
I'm thinking it'll be a fantastic series, Mets vs KC. The Royals field a strong playoff roster; they run, they field, their bullpen is top-notch and they can hit. If they get anything from their starters, it'll be a great match up.
I'd love to see Price take that KC series to a 7th game.
Here, here. The better team definitely prevailed in this one. The pitching, fielding, batting- the Metropolitans really took it to them. It was an amazing series for its lack of drama.
I hope Yoenis is ready for the Series. Cuddyer didn't look too good on his late inning AB!
Yes. Go Brewers!
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you!!
I think Bobby Bo is still on the Mets payroll. Maybe he could take Cuddyer's spot at first.
And now the big day out for the AL:
It's hard to see either Texas team rallying back after blowing huge home field advantages. Hamels has the pedigree but those great Philly playoff days were many, many years ago.
Jays 7-2
And that comeback in Houston in game 4 reminded me of why I loathe and respect the Royals so much...I'm still recovering from the A's 8th inning collapse last year! Cueto looks like he has finally found his mojo again.
Royals 4-3
The Dodgers/Mets game 5 could be the best game of the entire playoffs. How do you handicap this one? Looks like it could be 1-0 or 2-1 late...when the Dodgers bullpen folds again.
Mets 4-1
Once again, by holding Utley out of the NY games, Torre commits a travesty of baseball justice: the Mets fans get cheated out of the opportunity to crucify Utley at Shea Jr during the 2 game Mets home stand.
Gotta admit though that Mattingly was right: if David Wright makes that slide and snaps Rollins' leg, New Yorkers would be singing a totally different tune.
Ouch! After that giant confab session, the worst result possible for the Metropolitans.
I'd love to see this one go 5...and the Mets have another shot at Kershaw in Chavez Ravine.
Anyone counting the Jays in at this point?
If it gets to game 7 the team with the better math skills will definitely prevail! It's 3 out of 5 in this round.
Grinding out 162 games is a different kettle of fish than winning a short series. Used to be that 2 hot arms could get it done, ie Schilling and the Unit. Last year Bumgarner changed all that.
The games so far this post season map it out clearly: if your ace is on you win (Arrieta, Keuschel). If your ace gets hit you lose (Price, Cole). IMO, the Cubs put up stronger aces than the Cards. Like the Yanks, the Cards pen is awesome but it doesn't matter when you're losing in the 7th.
Cubs in 5. The Cards don't have the starters to match Arrieta and Lester. Their run of dominance ends quickly, much like the 2015 Tigers.
Can't believe Price got hammered like that.
Astros
Pirates
Blue jays
Dodgers
Royals

I did read the 8k but must have missed the new "Authorized Shares" number in that document. Please enlighten me.
TIA
I've read nothing to suggest that the AS will change. And that's what I was looking for before making a decision to buy. Some companies RS both the OS and the AS as a way to elevate the price without devaluing the shares.
And some RS the OS but not the AS, which often leads to dilution.
Sold TROV for a 7% gain. Sold BDSI for a 12% gain. Bought a stater of PIRS at 2.36. Bought a full position of CRBP at 1.84 (thanks crude oil).
Gotta love the relentless insider buying of CRBP. Amazing.
FWIW, Bought a full position of VER (non-bio) in an IRA at $7.87. Lots of REITs are near their 52 week low while still offering better than 7% dividends.
Watching TTNP for an entry. It has been hammered down by fear of an upcoming R/S and management incompetence. Nonetheless, their adcom was 10-4 in favor and the follow-up trial run by Braeburn was a success. They have re-submitted with the FDA and should be given a PDUFA date in the short term. Closed yesterday at .66. I can't see it trading at this level for long....
Joined you on PIRS. looking forward to news soon
"..and we look forward to expanding our trials and partnership prospects."
Hope I'm wrong but doesn't sound like we'll be hearing about a partner at this conference.
Out of DCTH at .46 from .49 starter
TROV in for starter at 5.79
While I agree with you Wade that the next big move in the market is down, there's a lot of free, stupid money that has been invented in the past 7 years that'll prop the market up longer than usual. I think there will be a lot of sideways action as the market tanks.
My short play is ZBIO- I don't have the stomach for shorting individual stocks, but this ETF gives me a bit of leverage in a sector which tanked hard in both the 2001 and 2009 meltdowns.
Are you playing your short hunch at all or are you just bitter about your losses this year?
TIA
ARNI was a great ASCO run from the mid 50 cent range to over a buck. They had the dark cloud of money trouble then. Nothing has changed since.
Bankruptcy is possible???
Must be an optimist..
Sold 5200 IDRA premarket at $2.79 from $2.57 buy. Singles are the new home run in this market!
The M's aren't too far off. Rodney can now shuffle down to LA and blow a few games for Kershaw.
They really lost the plot when they signed Trumbo imo.
Great to have you on the board in an official capacity. I've followed your posts, but this is even better!
FWIW: bought 5200 IDRA at 2.57 today. Wasn't eay to press the "buy" button what with all the carnage in bio-land over the past few weeks.
