Thanks Bootz, local media has been all over the story for a few days. Probably just the periodic release of pressure, but one day BOOM.
Yamana announces 105 million bought deal financing
So, I knee-jerked it and sold in pre-market for 22% gain in 7 weeks. A dilution dip would seem reasonable, but in today's gold environment, who knows.

An interesting case study in understanding the value of good deposits regardless of size is Goldcorp [TSX:G; AMEX:GG]. The company has more cash flow and income than either of Barrick, Place Dome [TSX:PDG; NYSE:PDG] or Newmont [NYSE:NEM] individually, despite having less production and revenue. Proof that the formula works!
If the race to replace ounces and dwindling reserves hasn’t really yet begun, it is sure to start soon. Taken together the best of the undervalued junior developers do not provide a basket of projects sufficient to satisfy the needs of the big players. If one adds the requirements for the high growth intermediate group, the demand for projects is even higher.
If these companies don’t want to be left standing when the music stops they best start looking for a chair immediately.

Portland Oregonian: Nano craze reveals 'Mac-centric' area
At least one industry analyst reported that Nano sales have been slower than expected nationwide, but they're dancing off the store shelves here, especially the sexy black one that holds 1,000 songs. Would-be buyers are turning to the Internet -- and a two- or three-day wait for shipping -- to track down the wee Nano that replaces the not-so-wee Mini.
Part of the reason, retailers say, is that Portland's long been a MacTown.
"It's the alternative air in Portland in terms of the spirit and culture, and clearly for a long time Apple was the other, alternative platform," said Rob Griffiths, who created the MacOSXhints.com, which he sold to MacWorld magazine in June.

A world poker event last night, stayed up and hour later than usual and should have stopped drinking wine two hours before that :).
Would be very nice if this is the start of a run to $500.

I'm sorry, I
should have ignored this some time ago.

No deal. I asked you a question based on your assertion. Answer it or not, your choice. Just don't be making assertions you are not willing or able to back up.
That is the size of it.
Ron
Bootz, you about
a lazy ass.
:)
Ron
I think you probably mean to say
they are not competing effectively.
You cited over-capacity. I asked about industry load factors by airline. That would make the over capacity arguement. You ignored the question, as is your custom when someone tries to engage you in a rational discussion.
See, I can be just as grumpy as you :)
Ron
Pretty fair day
All in all. Added some yesterday. I suspect gold will be higher in a couple of weeks than it is now. Wish I knew what the Fed was gonna do :).
Brutal market fact
What is the overall load factor by airline?
Answer me that.
I suspect one of the brutal facts is that legacy airlines with higher cost structures are competing with the likes of SW and Jet Blue.
Flew 4 flights last week. Portland to Newark red-eye - every seat filled. Newark to Tampa - every seat filled. Tampa to Houston - every seat filled. Houston to Portland - over 90% full.
I remember flying red-eyes on the same airline out of Seattle that were less than 50% full.
Heck, even the cruise ship out of Tampa had every stateroom full :). Not a scientific sample, but I have had nothing but good load factors in all my flights over the past year - but then I do not fly a lot.
Hope Continental does all right, my brother has 33 years in with them - but figures his retirement will consist of cutting back to half-time, but then he loves his job.

Nano will do
mega sales. Sin duda. That is what I think. If I podded, I would buy one. May get one for Kathy - she has an 8 hour battery Mini. She'd like another 6 hours. Christmas not too far off, and her birthday is just before then.
I need to find the time to find some good podcasts in interest areas - then maybe I'd use an iPod more.

Massive power outages in Los Angeles. EOM.

Keep posting, I'd like to see more posts from you. The Nano thing is not going to change so I was trying to suggest that you not spend too much energy fretting about it.
Sorry

Get over it and move on:).
The only larger cap gold stock I hold is GG
and I plan to keep it for now. I hope NG starts running as it has been an underperformer. May look at OZN and some others tomorrow. Made good money in it a while back. If NXG starts running, maybe, but I don't think much of the company. GRS will get a look. Am about 13% cash, 48% metals 13% energy, 13% international bonds and 13% AAPL. Am ok with the results that is giving me.
Gold up a couple bucks as I write.
Don't have time to follow a lot of stuff, though. Got the day job thing.
Watched the event last night
It was interesting - thought it was somewhat low-key. Like the Nano.
Wonder how CPU sales are faring. Wonder if put buying time is near. Not buying a CPU until Intel is inside, unless this one craps out before then. Probably not buying puts right now either, but I still wonder.

In the news release, Coeur Acquires Silver at Broken Hill Mine From Perilya LTD., issued yesterday by Coeur d'Alene Mines Corporation (NYSE: CDE - News; TSX: CDM - News) over PR Newswire, the heading on the second table following the fourth graph should read "Mineral Resources" rather than "Mineral Reserves" as incorrectly transmitted by PR Newswire.
Complete, corrected release follows:
Coeur Acquires Silver at Broken Hill Mine From Perilya LTD.
Accretive Transaction Expected to Boost Company's Annual Silver Production by
17%
- Adds average annual silver production of 2.3 million ounces
- Offers cash production cost of approximately US$2.75 per ounce
- Provides proven and probable reserves of 15 million ounces
- Acquisition price of US$36 million
- Boosts Coeur's annual silver production in Australia to 3.6 million
ounces
- Continues Coeur's transformation to lower-cost asset base
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Coeur d'Alene Mines Corporation (NYSE: CDE, TSX: CDM), the world's largest primary silver producer, announced today that its wholly owned Australian subsidiary has agreed to acquire the silver reserves and production at the Broken Hill Mine in Australia, which is owned and operated by Perilya Broken Hill Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Perilya Limited (ASX: PEM - News). Coeur will pay Perilya US$36.0 million in cash under the terms of the transaction. The company will finance the consideration with what it deems to be the most attractive alternative, which may include available cash, capital raised through the issuance of additional securities, or some combination of the two.
The transaction is expected to provide Coeur with an additional 2.3 million ounces of average annual silver production at an estimated cash cost of approximately US$2.75 per ounce and 15.0 million ounces of silver contained in proven and probable reserves. This addition to Coeur's silver production profile represents a 17 percent increase in its currently expected 2005 production of 13.5 million ounces of silver. In combination with Coeur's recently completed acquisition of silver production from the Endeavor mine, the Perilya transaction also serves to increase Coeur's estimated annual silver production in Australia to 3.6 million ounces.
"We are excited about this transaction for a number of reasons," said Dennis Wheeler, Coeur's Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer. "First and foremost, we expect it will be accretive to the company's per-share financial and operating results including cash flow per share, earnings per share, production per share, and reserves per share. In addition, the transaction represents another key step in the ongoing transformation of Coeur's asset base to lower-cost, longer life silver assets that generate substantial cash flow for the company. This transaction, along with our other growth initiatives, will enhance our position as the world's leading primary silver producer. Further -- and as was the case with our Endeavor transaction -- we do not assume operational responsibility for the mine. That responsibility remains with the top-quality management team at Perilya, leaving our staff free to continue focusing on our current operations and growth opportunities."
Located in New South Wales, Australia, the Broken Hill Mine is a zinc/lead/silver ore body that has produced approximately 500 million ounces of silver since its beginnings in 1885, making it one of the most prolific silver producing regions in the world. The transaction is capped at approximately 24.5 million contained ounces (or 17.2 million payable ounces) of silver to be mined by Perilya at Broken Hill on Coeur's behalf, providing Coeur with approximately 10 million ounces of upside to the reserve base at Broken Hill, representing a 63 percent increase over the current silver reserve levels at the mine.

A good week.
Seems every time I go on vacation to the Caribbean, I do pretty well. Stars this time were AAPL, GG, AUY, NG and oil service and a gold mutual fund. Other funds seem to have done all right also.
AAPL has been the big star over the past 2 1/2 years.
Apple and Mexico trips
Went to Mexico in early May 2003, December 2005 and last Thursday I spent the day there - as part of a week long Caribbean cruise.
I think you longs oughta pay me to go there :), OTOH, this long has done well with AAPL around his southern vacations.
Also, gold kicked butt on this trip as well, and I did well at the blackjack tables on the last night of the cruise :).
Life is, indeed good. Enjoyed the 2 days in St. Pete and Tampa also. Sure hope Ophelia stays out at sea.

Mine would have been stronger. I wondered how the heck anyone could suggest that they didn't know about the levees when just anyone who was a well-informed citzen over the past decade should have had a clue.
I have seen them break on the Mississippi south of St. Louis. When a levee goes, there is no repairing it until the water is done with it.
Ron
The levees
That is what I thought, but knew you could express it more eloquently :). In fact, the levee knowledge was much more public than the Condi thing. Anyone who watched a special on PBS that has run several times over the past few years would know about the levees.
