Brutal market fact

What is the overall load factor by airline?

Answer me that.

I suspect one of the brutal facts is that legacy airlines with higher cost structures are competing with the likes of SW and Jet Blue.

Flew 4 flights last week. Portland to Newark red-eye - every seat filled. Newark to Tampa - every seat filled. Tampa to Houston - every seat filled. Houston to Portland - over 90% full.

I remember flying red-eyes on the same airline out of Seattle that were less than 50% full.

Heck, even the cruise ship out of Tampa had every stateroom full :). Not a scientific sample, but I have had nothing but good load factors in all my flights over the past year - but then I do not fly a lot.

Hope Continental does all right, my brother has 33 years in with them - but figures his retirement will consist of cutting back to half-time, but then he loves his job.
