MIKERUB...I ONLY POSTED TWICE!!! WHAT THE HECK??? LOL
cosmo- It's the fact that the company is making an honest effort to communicate with the people who have stood by their side through thick and thin. John Howell's hands were tied for a good while. He was not able to communicate with us as he would have liked. It seems things have come to the point where they are willing to tell us exactly where they are in the development process. They are also standing FIRMLY behind their official timelines.
Just one last little tidbit from me and I'm done. It is becoming apparent that the company is making forward progress. In the past they may have been making progress but they did not communicate that very effectively. Those of you in San Diego at the very first "road show" type shareholder presentation may remember that I suggested to John that they utilize the website to keep us updated on the progress of the tech. Mr. Howell immediately shot that idea down stating that they must operate under a veil of secrecy. That was a total insult to my (our) intelligence. I am part owner of this company and have a right to know what is going on. With Cooper's new policy which allows for NV to communicate with us, I believe we as shareholders will be better able to deal with any delays that may come up. In the last President's letter Cooper stated that they would not be able to put as much money into the tech as they would like which would slow the development a little. I can deal with that. What I cannot and WILL NOT put up with any longer is the smoke and mirrors. That era I believe has come to an end. As for me personally, tonight is the first time in several months that I have felt some of the excitement that I felt originally for this company. I have always maintained my confidence in the long term prospects but tonight I actually see the light at the end of the tunnel. We are still a good bit off from revenues but at least it is looking like we may have something to sink our teeth into at last! Optimism is the order of the day for me and barring any cheeseball type communication strategy from the company I suspect that my optimism will remain indefinitely! I have made some posts regarding trading etc. in the past and that was due to the fact that I believed that to be the smartest strategy for this stock at that time.
HOWEVER...at this time (if anyone cares) I would like to officially change my outlook and recommend that we accumulate. I do not expect that my recommendation will have any effect on the shareprice as my negative outlook in the past has not, in my opinion, affected the price. I will say though that I plan to accumulate a substantial position while we are sub dollar. There may still be 10 to 30% downside from here but I think that will be a mere bump in the road when we look back. Timing a trade is one thing. You simply have to time the bottom PERFECTLY. Accumulation of stock for a long term investment doesn't need to be perfect and I believe we are close enough to a bottom to do just that.
Thank you guys for allowing me to make this long winded post. I appreciate you all putting up with my griping when that was necessary. Now let's sit back and watch this thing unfold. Best, Elder.
I really like the way Mssrs. Cooper and Ketch are handling the IR. While John did a good job, I believe NV is taking it to the next level by making it more professional and VERY informative. I applaud their efforts!
Spoke- Once the FPGA is ready for carrier trials, how long would YOU think the carrier trials will take? Should it take as long as the in house field trials have taken with the computer?
spoke- Do you have an estimate as to how long it may take them to dump the code from the pc to the FPGA and have a prototype ready for testing in the field?
Bill- so to sum it all up, what we're waiting for now is for the company to put the software stuff into the form of an FPGA. Once that is done the test should only take a few days just like the last one right?
I second that Spoke. D A M N tired. They need to shoot straight for once. Just say it in plain English.
In my mind there is very little doubt which way the company will go tech wise. The question in my mind is what will the shareprice do once we get there? You can never tell in this bear market. I like to think that people will pile in to recover losses from other investments. Anyone have a contrary opinion? Why? Anyone agree? Why?
SAN DIEGO, Sep 10, 2002 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- New Visual Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: NVEI), an emerging provider of semiconductors to the high-speed data networking industry, today announced that together with Adaptive Networks, Inc., it has applied for patents on its core technology, enabling data to be transmitted at greater speeds over longer distances using regular copper telephone wire.

Will they be attending the conference as spectators or will they have an actual booth/presentation?
TFN- You bet it was fluff. Why are we not miffed? We're use to it. They stated what we already knew and that is that they are moving forward with trying to find a distributor for the movie. LOL!!! The good stuff will come in time. I am betting on it.
Well excel...not that anyone asked...but for me personally I would like to see them sell the whole bloomin' thing. In fact, I'd be as pleased as punch to get the 2.5 million back that we put into it. Just sell it I say!!! Of course Ray won't give up his 2%. We shareholders took risk also funding the movie. Where is our 2%?
He must be. LOL EOM
Justin- that scripture says "few", rather than "a few". It has always been my understanding that a couple is two and a few is three. However, I'm really not that concerned. We'll just say from 3 to 8 months which puts us at March or so at the latest.
Thanks spoke. I was just fixin' to say the exact same thing.
LOL
excel- That lady is a marketing GENIUS! I have never seen a website quite like that but this girl is very clever. I bet a lot of people have thought of doing what she is doing but have never followed through. If you look at her numbers it's working!!! On top of that I bet she's a little HOTTIE!!! Her e-mails are hilarious.
porschy- There are no special requirements. Your box already has two 110 circuit bus bars going in which add up to 220 when using the right breaker. All you need to do is purchase a double pole breaker and put it in the box. If there is not a place large enough to fit the breaker then you can simply pull a single pole breaker out and put it in a different slot to make room. Then you just run the proper size wire and poke a hole in the wall for the outlet and hook the wire up at both ends without killing yourself. The tricky part will be when you try to run the wire into the box itself as there is usually very little room to crawl if the box is on an outside wall. As for the plug, just get a sheetrock saw and cut your hole for the plug. Then you will need to make an accurate measurement so that when you go into the attic you can drill a hole in the proper place in the 2 x 4 above where you cut the hole. Then poke the wire down and have someone below fish it out using a coat hanger. One more thing I'd like to add: Do not...I repeat...DO NOT lick any of the metal surfaces inside the breaker panel. It could be a source of discomfort. Hope this helps. Best regards, Elder.
PS- Give me a call if you have any questions. I believe you have my number.
Hitimer- I agree 110%. EOM
Rob- you're absolutely right. We have a prototype. However, it's not the completed prototype that they will be turning over to the teleco for carrier trials. They are finalizing the design and making minor adjustments before calling it absolutely finished. It's done enough for NV to test, but not enough to call a finished product.
Cobra, NT- I'm having to dig into the memory bank here but if I remember correctly, you guys are correct when you say that the original product was going to have the FPGA. However, when I spoke with John in Dallas back in February he told me that they had scrapped that plan because it's much easier to reverse engineer an FPGA versus an ASIC. Don't hold me to that but I'm relatively certain that's what he said.
NT- One thing to keep in mind is that once they do finally have a prototype the chip will be an FPGA. It will take a good bit of time, months possibly, before they are able to produce an ASIC. This is my understanding from speaking with third parties in the industry. While I will agree that they will likely release specifice related to the performance of the tech well before mid- 03, I am in the wait and see mode as to whether they will release them prior to carrier trials as it seems that it would be strictly for the purpose of appeasing we shareholders. Time will tell my friend.
NT- This is one time where I hope I'm wrong. I don't speak much with the company anymore as I am in a watch and see mode. If the impression you get from conversations etc. are that they will likely divulge details about the tech. prior to carrier trials then I say BRING IT ON! Best, Elder.
* Sir Isaac Newton *
Sir Isaac Newton had an accomplished artisan fashion for him a small scale model of our solar system which was to be put in a room in Newton's home when completed. The assignment was finished and installed on a large table.
The workman had done a very commendable job, simulating not only the various sizes of the planets and their relative proximities, but also so constructing the model that everything rotated and orbited when a crank was turned.
It was an interesting, even fascinating work, as you can image, particularly to anyone schooled in the sciences.
A scientist-atheist friend of Newton's came by for a visit. Seeing the model, he was naturally intrigued, and proceeded to examine it with undisguised admiration for the high quality of the workmanship.
"My! What an exquisite thing this is!" he exclaimed. "Who made it?"
Paying little attention to him, Sir Isaac answered, "Nobody."
Stopping his inspection, the visitor turned and said: "Evidently you did not understand my question. I asked who made this?"
Newton, enjoying himself immensely no doubt, replied in a still more serious tone. "Nobody. What you see just happened to assume the form it now has."
"You must think I am a fool!" the visitor retorted heatedly, "Of course somebody made it, and he is a genius, and I would like to know who he is."
Newton then spoke to his friend in a polite yet firm way: "This thing is but a puny imitation of a much grander universe whose laws you know, and I am not able to convince you that this mere toy is without a designer and maker; yet you profess to believe that the great original from which the design is taken has come into being without either designer or maker? Now tell me by what sort of reasoning do you reach such an incongruous conclusion?"

Northern Trader- I'm pleased with the progress the company has made. I'm even more pleased with the communications they have opened up even if it's just to tell us that they're not going to tell us yet. LOL I have one question for you. What is it that makes you think they will tell us all about the tech. PRIOR to carrier trials? I'm not necessarily doubting you, I'm just curious as my own impression is that they plan on waiting as long as possible before divulging the particulars to the general public. Best regards, Elder.
Miler- I feel the need to say that I have absolutely no concerns at this time. It has taken me awhile to get over what happened in the past regarding delays, non-communication etc. but I have finally succeeded in doing so. It is obvious to me that Tom Cooper is willing to communicate with us. Let me see if I can help you out a little bit here by sharing my perspective.
Tom Cooper is obviously a no nonsense guy. He's NOT going to make statements without putting a great deal of thought into them. I have developed a great deal of confidence in Tom's ability to deliver on the promise.
New Visual is at the point now where they can more accurately predict how long certain processes are going to take. Let's look at a statement from the pr:
" New Visual's sophisticated simulations also accurately modeled the performance of copper wire in an actual operating environment. "
Do you realize what that means? Let me try to explain. They have many different applications. They are in the process of testing each application and coming up with a spec sheet as we speak. You can bet your bottom dollar that prior to them taking these applications into the field for testing they did the simulation first and worked out a VERY HIGH percentage of any bugs that may have existed. With this in mind, and taking into account that the field test they recently performed only took three days (per John Howell), they can predict with a high level of accuracy the amount of time it will take to complete the remaining tests.
Now you say you are displeased with the fact that we will not have a finished product until the second quarter of 2003? According to my records this is nothing new. Mr. Cooper stated that in the first letter from the president. We are on track as far as I can tell and I am pleased as punch that Tom sees fit to keep us informed and am even happier that he is doing so using official press releases.
"...our underlying science and technology worked as expected. As a result, we are meeting and possibly even ahead of our development schedule."
It's also my understanding that there are some who doubt that the tests completed recently were actual real world tests performed in the field. To that I can only post this from the PR:
" The results of this test, which is the first in a series of field tests..."
Some people work all of their lives to save for retirement. All we have to do now is sit back and wait. Best regards, Elder.
dvinge- I have scanned and rescanned the text of the shareholders meeting as well as the recent letter from the president. Nowhere do I find where it says they will be releasing spec's within a few weeks. Best, Elder
My pleasure. )
One more thing I'd like to add...
Some people seem to have a problem with Cooper's statement stating that it would be a few months before they are ready to release specifics about the technology. To that I say THANK YOU TOM! It's is refreshing to know that he is giving it to us straight. No more stringing us along. Tell us like it is and let us decide if we can wait. I for one think it would be foolish to sell now based soley on the fact that we are going to have to wait a few more months to find out what our tech will do and how it is going to revolutionize the way broadband etc. is delivered. Again, THANK YOU TOM.
I spoke with John Howell today and asked about why the tech. is no longer referred to as the last mile solution. They do not refer to it as a last mile solution anymore because it is MUCH MUCH MORE than just that. The last mile solution is one of MANY applications. They are in the process of testing many applications at this time. This will take some time as the prototype must be reprogrammed each time they begin a new test of a different application. What they are doing now is making spec sheets FOR EACH POSSIBLE APPLICATION so that when they turn the prototype over to the teleco for carrier trials they have their proverbial crap together. They would look pretty ignorant if the teleco tested it for one thing, asked about other applications, and NV didn't have a clue. We want to be able to say..."you bet it can do that and here is the spec sheet. When and how many?" We're doing just fine people.
PS- John reiterated the fact that they just cannot cater their business plan to the investors. They have a choice. They can either try to give us what we want and risk giving away too much too soon or they can fly under the radar screen and have some of us ticked. I for one would be ticked if they took unnecessary risks with my money. I think we'll be sitting pretty by the second quarter of 2003 at the latest. Best, Elder.
Hey guys- I'm looking for a ticker symbol. I want to short the index fund that mirrors the DJIA much like the QQQ mirrors the comp.idx. What's the ticker? Thanks.
FOREONTEE- SORRY...I WASN'T CLEAR ON WHAT YOU WERE ASKING. I DO NOT KNOW OF ANY SITE THAT SEPARATES BUYS AND SELLS OTHER THAN HTTP://WWW.OTCBB.COM BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW FAR THEY GO BACK ON TIME AND SALES.
