Just recalling that I was at the airport in Sao Tome a few years ago on a surprise stop for fuel on the way to Nairobi...can't say I recall seeing much other than a typical developing country small airport. Didn't see guards with rifles, so that's something.
I am viewing the twilight zone as well. I often wonder if I'm ignoring cold logic in favor of wishful thinking. However, late last week I increased my share position by 50% at .23. Irrational exuberance or intuition, whatever it is, I'm staying.
Last night I had a vivid dream that it went from .23 to .92 in one afternoon, and that was just the beginning.

Was there any news coming from the 1 Aug conference where STP was to release results of seismic studies on the EEZ? I didn't see any posts on it when I scanned them.
FN
Wasn't necessarily suggesting Offor would join the call, though who's to say he might not monitor it silently? More that the timing came to mind as my company has many conference calls at 8 or 9 a.m. EST when our European or African colleagues are joining us or US colleagues are traveling there. Since the ERHC offices are in Houston but the interests are in W Africa, logical to think some significant interested parties might be there and want to join, hence the early hour.
FN
8 a.m. Central time is 9 a.m. Eastern time is 3 p.m. Nigerian time, fwiw.

Realize this is asking the obvious,
but what will such ongoing regulatory interest/investigation do to the SP after drilling/once oil is established, in the opinion of the posters to this board? I'm trying to work out the impact of a negative perception in the market versus proven asset value. How do you personally reconcile to this? From what I can discern from most posts, it's a "what will be will be" and regardless there's oil and value here. I guess I'm looking for a quantification of the negative impact, so if you have that crystal ball I'd be most obliged. Interested in hearing any and all thoughts.
Thanks

CNN Money's most profitable companies cut of the Fortune 500 list
has of course excellent representation by big oil and gas. The profits are astounding and interesting to revisit in light of the recent goings on for ERHC.

Looking for the person who tipped me to this stock...just in case you're looking at this board...
We sat in the same row on a Beijing-Tokyo-Detroit flight last October. You were returning home to Arkansas, traveling with your brother (I think it was), after visiting a supplier in Beijing.
I want to be able to thank you next April. I learn a lot from this board, and don't have anything fact-wise to contribute that's to the caliber of what's regularly posted here. My gut feeling and non-scientific ideas have me convinced it's April 2008 that things will really happen, and I was happy to see Mark's post today. I'll eat my hat if it isn't April (I get to pick the fabric, and it's not of avian origin).
I hope my Arkansan friend surfaces.
Thanks all for your posts keeping us novices informed and learning; don't forget what a service it is.

Exceo -
Just on line now after a few days off line due to vacation...
My thoughts and prayers are with you, and I will send you all the positive energy I can. I am recently single, with a four year old son from the marriage, and I know how hard the road is when communication is not working. Your continual optimism and positive comments about your wife make me think that all must certainly work out well for you both. Keep the faith. That's what this board is all about apparently, so you're in the right place!
FN
OT: glad you enjoyed it exceo.
FYI, a full reading requires looking at the arrangement of all planets as of the exact date (incl year), time (to the minute) and place (longitude and latitude) you were born. Then compare those aspects or angles to where all the planets are now or to dates in the future, and you have a unique picture that relates to you specifically. There are of course similarities that would exist with respect to others born at nearly the same time and place. Each unique chart requires in depth analysis to yield information, as there are dozens of interrelated aspects to read. The generic stuff in the papers is meaningless for the same reason.
As a developed interest, it has taught me a lot about astronomy and the solar system, including some of the physics involved. Should help when my son hits science class in school in a few years.
Since this is OT I won't comment further on the stars, but will save my previous post to look at again next spring. Until then, looking for concrete facts as is everyone.
.325 is a bargain regardless. Enjoy your volunteer work, I do a lot of it myself.

Exceo: I'm addressing this to you as you seem most entertained by this sort of thing, despite your last unfulfilled forecast. Seems like a fair amount of tension around here lately, and after all is said the only thing apparent is that something will happen sometime.
So, I ran my horoscope out through the end of 2008 using my software. Seems the rest of 2007 is pretty uneventful, almost mundane, but beginning in 2008 that changes:
end of Jan 08: pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable
mid Feb 08: potential for growth and good fortune now;
A time of dues-paying is over; real accomplishment is possible now
Apr 08: This can also be a very good period financially
End of Apr 08: Big changes affecting your career, status, and reputation are likely at a time like this. A powerful time of change, during which you may have great insight into your career. You could change jobs or suddenly find a way to transform and improve your current job.
So, I'll look to accumulate what shares I can through this year, and not be surprised if it's really 2008 that's the shaker. Seems to line up some with drilling, eh?
ALL IN GOOD FUN. Accumulating shares was already the plan, just to be clear.

:)
Seems to me there's too much info in there that does correlate or reconcile for a yahoo to have screwed it up.
But, I spend a lot of time with financial statements and maybe I've spent too much time doing forensic accounting that I'm just suspicious in nature. (Forensic investigating fraud in Africa and China no less, how relevant.)
FN
No, clearly 31 March 2007. When you switch between the three different financial statements it defaults to annual and you you have to reset to quarterly to get to the March numbers.
FN
There is something wrong with the financials as you note. Take a look at the cash flow statement for the quarter - http://finance.yahoo.com/q/cf?s=ERHE.OB (hope that link pastes in ok).
The cash flow statement shows an increase in cash of 47m, but the balance sheet shows only 2m increase in cash. The interesting part is that the cash flow statement shows net income of 25m, adjustment to net income of -30m, and cashflows from investing activities of 46m.
So the income stmt and cash flows seem to try to say the same thing, but the balance sheet doesn't reflect what they do.
What is this other income and cash from investing activities? Why are the financials incorrect and which stmt is closest to correct?
FN
Since you requested some thoughts exceo....
Mercury enters Cancer on 28 May. Again, I'm not an expert but can't see anything too special for business deals/finances with Mercury in Cancer. Mercury in Taurus seemed much more likely. Maybe this transit will be unique to you and not the rest of us, but we can always hope for all.
Something not positive: Mercury turns retrograde (appears to go backward relative to Earth's position) 15 June. "BEFORE Mercury stations Retrograde, finish projects that involve communication and close big deals. Ordering and purchasing, especially for business, can be continually problematic if purchased during Mercury Retrograde."
So - if something's brewing, here's hoping it wraps in early June or after Mercury goes direct again on 9 July.
I think some on this board don't care at all astrology talk, so I hesitate to say anything or too much. It is strictly entertainment and I agree it should never guide one's decision making, big or small. I find it interesting as a way of self reflecting and necessarily pulling back to look at the big picture of what's going on. For what it's worth.
Enjoy exceo :)

It has several times occurred to me that a person such as Offor might be interested at this point in much more than just money, that being the legacy noted below combined with influence and power. Not that I know but I would suspect you get to a certain amount of wealth and you start to look for something else beyond that.
What effect would this then have on prioritizing maximizing shareholder value? Does building a legacy necessarily equate to building a strong and valuable company that pays off then for the shareholders, or could there be some other value to him that is not what we're looking for? Further exploring the risky side of this investment.

Piece on Wm Jefferson case on NPR this morning....
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=10204313
Excerpt:
But Jefferson and some congressional legal experts say the raid on his office violated the "speech-or-debate" clause of the U.S. Constitution, which protects federal lawmakers in their legislative duties.
So why did the FBI go for that search warrant?
"That's the $64 million question," said Melanie Sloan of the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Government.
At Tuesday's hearing, Jefferson's lawyer, Robert Trout, said the speech-or-debate clause is an absolute protection.
"Members have the absolute right to shield their legislative activities from forced or involuntary disclosure," Trout asserted. "But in this case, the FBI went into a congressional office and for the first time in our country's history conducted a wholesale search and seizure."
The Justice Department argues that it didn't violate the speech-or-debate clause, because one set of agents seized the documents and another set of agents will use them after the court gives permission.
The debate over the FBI's authority in executing the search warrant has tied the case up for a year.
Thank you for the mother's day wish!
As a single mom to a four year old, what I want most for mother's day is for this stock to come in at a very nice multiple so I can cut back on work hours and spend more time being a hands on mother (which I might add is way harder than my day job).
I never appreciated what a mother really means until I became one - best wishes to all moms out there.

The primary problem today in Africa is corruption.
Does poverty feed corruption, or does corruption feed poverty? I don't know, maybe it's both. It is a way of life in most African nations, and obviously the solution is an incredibly difficult one, given the widespread lack of success. With all of their rich natural resources, including oil, corruption must be resolved to some degree in order for the majority of citizens to benefit.
I work regularly in Kenya and South Africa at my company's branch offices there, and the way we have to do business to ensure value for money and safeguard assets is dramatic. Other countries (like China) have corruption, but not in the same way as many African countries.
If real progress could be made in Nigeria, everyone would benefit and MEND would die out. Terrible to see it the way it is.
90 minutes left...?
have a great dinner - act as if it was a phenomenal day anyway.

Agreed;
passing the time. After almost six months I'm now starting to get an idea of the ebb and flow of this investment. I have much respect for those who have been around here for years.

Are you kidding??? 188 boards ??
I have trouble keeping things reasonable with just 1 family.
By the way...be warned. FWIW.. Wife says my horoscope indicates Friday the 27th Mercury changes signs (whatever the heck that means) and a complicated financial puzzle finally comes together despite the fact that others fed me false information. Wife interprets that as meaning ERHE finally hits it big despite rumors that it would happen much earlier. We can only hope. GLTA

Ruby: it is all in fun. Making decisions on anything like planetary effects would be foolish - DD and logical reasoning are the only way to go.
I do personally believe there are things in this universe we have no clue about, and on this topic I agree to disagree. The link to the size of the solar system exercise is very interesting and I've sent it to my brother who is a teacher, so thanks.
Exceo: hear, hear. Hoping ERHE comes in and makes funding my boy's education a non-issue.
Thanks for your indulgence, all readers.
FN
OT exceo: A few qualifications here:
newspaper horoscopes are pretty much worth the paper they're written on, and that's being generous. Generalizing twelve different horoscopes for 6.5 billion people makes little sense. The real art is in analyzing 9 planets (or 8 plus Pluto if you prefer), 12 zodiac signs and 12 houses for a given moment in time, do the math on those combos and then add in the effects of their aspects or angles to one another, and the result is like a fingerprint - no two alike. I personally believe there is a lot to it but humans at this point in their evolution have a fraction of the knowledge of the true scope.
That being said...
Mercury does indeed change signs on 27 April, moving from Aries into Taurus. That's a planetary thing in general, not specific to any sign. Mercury is the communicator or messenger, mental in nature. Aries is impulsive and fiery, while Taurus is deliberate and practical. I'd much rather have major happenings for ERHC or any business matter with Mercury in Taurus than Aries. But, Mercury is a fast planet and will move into Gemini in May, so it's only a window of time. Plus, planetary influences are rarely so precise as to relate to a specific day, they are more longer term trends, so I would expect nothing specifically on 27 April. I don't know what sign your wife was reading and what other energies are at play here, so the true picture is likely much more complicated and wouldn't it be nice if that generic horoscope was right? I'd never bet on it but like all positive news it's nice to think about.
And that exhausts my knowledge and willingness to spend time researching this matter. What would be interesting would be to have a professional plug in ERHC's date and place of incorporation and see what the entity itself tends toward, as well as how the current planetary alignment relates to ERHC's own chart in affecting matters. (IMO this is not fate, only a predilection, free will is always at play.)
Enough of this for the board I'm sure. For myself, I have to say it is fun and a bit addicting.
FN
Many thanks kingpindg.
Very logical once it's articulated that way. The subtleties and unknowns at play here are amazing.
Good news and a price drop are so counterintuitive, glad to see others are feeling perplexed as well. I expect to have cash available to purchase a chunk more next week, hope I get in at the low prices. Even assuming there's a lot I don't know due to inexperience, feels like something unusual is happening, and I want to be there when the benefits hit as clearly the timing is unknown.
I would add that I probably least fit the average profile of the regular posters on this board, now having watched the banter for about four months. I do have an above average interest and understanding of astrology, and thought a lot about exceo's wife's comment on Mercury. Exceo - elaborate on what she said and I'll plug it into my astrology software :) Everyone else - really, don't write me off, I'm just a CPA with an active right side of the brain. Astrology is great entertainment.
FN
Ruby - can you elaborate
on why someone buying 10m shares may need to sell 2m along the way to get the price they desire? Trying to understand the repositioning aspect to the latest activity.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks Fishdog.
Looking forward to a pm if you can.
Intuition brought me to ERHE, DD allowed me to purchase. Expect to be adding more very soon.
The education through this board has been more than entertaining.

Many thanks texas.
Sounds like a great price for more education.
Can you advise what/where L2 is? I recall seeing some details posted some time ago, but can't recall. Thanks.
Is it appropriate
to ask what other stocks you are invested in, per your reference in your post? I am a new small investor interested in these issues, and watching other stocks deemed to have potential is great learning. PM if you prefer. Thanks in advance.
Thanks all for your replies.
I’ve been watching the board
for about three months now - my first post here. I’m a new and small investor in EHRE. Actually, my first direct stock purchase ever (I understand the risk). First, thanks to all for sharing your insights and experience, with more than a few laughs as well. My alias refers to how I heard about EHRE.
Wondering how you all make peace with the risks around share price manipulation, such as short selling and the market managers? I can reckon with the uncertainties around what Offor might do easier than I can with price manipulation, and manipulation has been alluded to on the board more than a few times.
