I believe MrBest tried to get a job with GTE and someone who claims to be close to Huff sent a copy of his resume to Huff. He used to have a site that praised GTE to the skies and showed a lot of work. Apparently, GTE showed no interest in the lad. Then the cheerleading stopped and the rest is history.
I think "closely guarded" applies also to what the photographer shot. The story was about GTE, not the picture.
Thanks, Jim. Beautiful video. Danke
Vern: I'm 70. You've probably already done this, but if you Google yourself, you'll find a lot of interesting hits.
What difference does it make? Is someone going to get shot for being late or failing to corectly predict an event? From Trucker Flying J's reports, the folks at Palmdale are working feverishly at something. I imagine they're doing what they get paid to do: that is, produce a successful launch, not a tethered advertisement for Head On. Relax. Have fun. The future is unrolling before us. Ride it out.
An absolutely great post. Right out of the golden days when things were simple and straightforward and the world was out there waiting. We didn't have a/c or tv or things that send music to the ears, but we did have "The Shadow", Captain Midnight, the Green Hornet and Inner Sanctum Mysteries on the radio; baseball was important, and shoes were not necessary in the summer. A handshake was as binding a contract as you could get, and lawyers transferred land titles and wrote wills. Gone forever. Sorry.
I believe commercial strats will be like Dell computers: built to the customer's order and paid for by the customer, except that Sanswire customers will start with a hefty upfront deposit and then percentage of completion payments with a holdback of the final payment until the device has been tested and proven to meet the specs agreed to by the parties. How else could GTE do this, at least in the short term?
My guess is that the Sanswire/GTE contingent at the exhibition in FL have been talking up GTE and some of the opportunists ran out and called their brokers. Then they called their wives later that night.
The problem is you broadcast your transactions to the board, which then elicits a response from and it goes on ad nauseum. How about a weekly wrap up Saturday mornings? Absolutely my opinion but it's probably shared by others who care about their posts being deleted.
Who you gonna get to run this puppy? Isn't it supposed to be unique? Who knows as much as Huff about GTE's operations? If you could find someone willing to take the job, why should he with Huff still aboard in some capacity. Gag the present CEO and try to do what the company is supposedly set up to do. If you're a sausage maker make sausages. Someone else can sell them.
"Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds" by Charles McKay, would be a worthwhile read right now.
Design33: If that's your decision, you don't have to justify it to anyone. I,too, have owned stocks that went south and came back; I have also owned some that did not. You're young. You can bounce back. You might consider stop loss points in the future. Good luck.
This is neither a bash nor a pump just an observation. If you have any trial lawyer friends, it might be fun to show them the playing of the SHM and ask for comments on Huff's credibility, based on his body language and eye movements. You don't even need the sound. I used to represent a state mental hospital and the director once told me that whenever the president spoke on t.v., the schizophrenics would howl with laughter and say he was lying during parts of the speech.
Every man has a right to his opinion, but no man has a right to be wrong in his facts." - Bernard Mannes Baruch
If Rob were doing his job, there wouldn't be any typos.
That is a beautiful sight. I hope it elicits some positive response from potential customers.
I predict that before the end of 2007, GTE will not be called GTE and will be privately owned, and very, very often the owners will laugh and laugh all the way to the bank.
Steve: What do you suggest AMEX be restrained from doing? It's possible GTE could get a temporary restraining order against Amex, stopping the delisting process, but that order would expire in 30 days unless GTE can prove to the court that the order should be made permanent. Not a slam dunk, as George T. would say.
I think the allegations in the AMEX complaint keep getting amended as more information floats in to the exchange. Where this supposed info comes from, I do not know, but I'll bet it's a disgruntled stockholder, an ex-employee with a grudge against GTE, a mole in the company in the employ of a competitor or someone who has a plan to buy control of the company when the stock value drops to single digits. If GTE truly has no debt, it can go out of business and sell out to Delta Aerospace and start all over again.
Where do you think the writers of the articles got the information?
I believe the crew at Palmdale is working feverishly to get the Strat in the air tomorrow, so that the Q2 results, when published, will carry a footnote that SW11 began testing August 13, and the testing will continue through November. Why do I think that? Because to do otherwise would require a different conclusion.
Justfrank: Then I am in error. I failed to see the '06 date on the filing, noticing only the '05. Speed-reading SEC filings is not always accurate, I guess.
Dumas was not Chairman of the Board on 8/31/05. Is this for real or another example of GTE's failure to proof read?
Gtell: Unfortunately, based on past performance, the only numbers you can rely on are the audited figures. Something always seems to happen between the pencil of prediction and the pen of performance. If we can get through this tsunami, we will be stronger for it.
If Carley been with has been with the SEC for the past seven years, he preceeded all the present players at GTE.
I think it was KSCA or something like that. It was the PR firm that lasted about 2 months or so before moving on. The reason they parted company was not published as far as I can recall.
Slim to none.
Crash: Who cares what his motives are? If his posts are correct, and he seems to document them, they should be brought to the board's attention. If I were a member of Amex, I would be concerned by Rob's association with GTE. Maybe that's why Rob never moved to FL. He knows his past will catch up with him. JMHO based on Wsdomseker"s post.
Wsdom: That post is amazing. Fantastic digging. Thank you. Say goodbye to Rob.
Did you really expect to?
Falon: You pose good questions, but they cannot be answered because GTE has not demonstrated the likelihood or even the ability to do any of the things that you posit. What will happen when pigs fly? What will happen when cars run on water? What will happen when the Israelis and the Arabs intermarry and stop the idiocy? Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana. So what? In the long run, we are all dead and it won't matter if we can talk to our relatives in London for free on our wrist watch telephone/camera/decoder. The game will be over.
That's a good post. The watch analogy is particularly apt here. I'll bet the biggies in the telecom business were at least minimally aware of both Hotzone and Sanswire before GTE acquired the companies. Is there a Darwin award for business?
Seeker: If you are not an investigative reporter, you should be. That was an amazing post. Thank you.
Thank you. I did not know that and have readmitted some of those who were turned away to make room for new candidates.
My ignore button does not work. Does anyone have any idea what I might be doing to prevent it from working?
Ninja: A very thoughtful post and spot on. Don't wait so long to give us your insights in the future.

CP: I think you are right. Wing
Don't expect the Q2 numbers to be as good as you expect.
Cole, we don't buy shares from the company; we buy them from other shareholders.
