Real impediments to TPM implementation??
Related to my previous posts on the topic as I've gotten some more info implementing the TPM at our very large company. I have not emailed Steven yet, either.
Would these things be real impediments>
potential negative consequences:
- potential key escrow issue;
- potential incompatibility with Pointsec;
- support could be a significant problem;
- would have to decide what to use it for and program for that usage; this is especially challenging because the software and capabilities differ from manufacturer to manufacturer, and maybe even model to model
Granted, this is not from an internal expert so is this strictly a lack of understanding and Wave needs to educate such customers as this?
Can I get some thoughts on the questions posed in my last 2 paragraphs, for the post I'm replying to here. The main question being the Steven one. Thx and have a great weekend!
Very interesting info............
This is related to a previous post of mine, when I talked about installing the non-TPM usage of Embassy on my new laptop (D630).
You may remember that I work for an extremely large software company, and I'm just a number so take this for what its worth. I had been trying to find out if anyone else even knows about the TPM and if we would implement it across the board, especially considering the fingerprint reader and our lovely suite was listed as recommended software by our IT group. So, I finally got an indirect response that basically said our IT group is AWARE of the TPM but has not developed a corporate policy YET.
Of course, this could all be nothing, but I was just glad that an 'indirect' person knew that the IT group was fully aware of the TPM. That's a start in my book!
I responded one last time and hoping to get something more concrete, but don't expect anything. I'll keep you informed if I hear anything new, but it would probably be after I sell my house and buy shares. ;o)
Just out of curiosity, what happens when a company, any company over 30,000 employees for example, says they are implementing TPM and Embassy company-wide? I'm guessing our little stock quadruples in a week.
Btw, should I be emailing Steven to see if he can add a sales pitch to our IT group?? I wouldn't use my work email cause I'm concerned I may be doing something wrong and get fired, doh!
TheWiz
That smells like there's no real reason to continue the runup then, heh?
I guess we don't hear about Q numbers until early November so we'll probably need to hear about financing first, heh?
Stock action....
I just don't get it. We doubled on relatively low volume really. Is this nothing more than the MM's trying to make a market based on the Acer news, which we really already knew at some level, right?
What is our next 'event' again? The quarterly report? I'm tempted to sell some at these levels and buy back at .35-40 again, but I know how these things work for me. ;o)
How does this affect Wave? Will wave have to pay any type of royalties for such a thing?
It went up because of me and my wonderful luck. For the first time in 11 years, I figured I'd play the game and trade a little bit. I bought some at .25 on Friday. I sold yesterday at .33. Within minutes, it went to .35 and then onto .40. You all see what then happened today. Such is the story of my investment life. Hopefully, I will be right in the long run on WAVX and prosper, but it sure would've been nice to get a double on my first trade play. ;o)
Related, when I tried twice last week to purchase shares, they were not coming my way, leading me to think that someone was hoarding shares for themselves (MMs, financing?).
Let's hope there's solid news behind this, cause we kind of knew about the Acer link already. Over and out.
TheWiz
Forget the M&A, invest in strong banks right now!!! Make some additional money while you can!
Anyone agree?
Based on how things have been going, I'm guessing we got a one-time payment of about $450 for it this time.
The more this 'financial crisis' grows, and hurts businesses, doesn't it mean Wave will have to wait quite a bit longer for BE. Afterall, isn't Embassy really a 'luxury' in the IT world, even though we see it as being required? And if its a 'luxury', why would an IT staff really go after it while they are downsizing and cutting other services?
In the simplest view, you have to think laptop sales are going to slow down greatly, yes?
Is this malarky or a realistic view?
Thx!
TheWiz
Naked short selling...I can't remember the guts of the conversation on this before with regards to WAVX, but what does the 'new' rules of naked short selling do to shorting wavx? No change in behavior? (Rules start tomorrow).
Thx.
TheWiz
So is it bad they did this 'preferred' route, or is it good news they only went after $800k? I don't know these things at all, and I hate being in the constant world of Wave confusion. ;o)
TheWiz
Thanks awk. That explains the ones that have same ad without mentioning Wave(I believe that's what your post was about), but what do you think about all these that do mention Wave? Legit or part of some original hoax ad.

And then this one says the position is no longer advertised:
http://regionalhelpwanted.com/Search/detail.cfm?SN=295&ID=16479967
How do you explain the ads that DO mention Wave Systems then? Is it possible someone outside of Wave created a false ad, and all the job search sites just picked it up?
Why was the job apparently just posted on Sept 3rd, when the date of the position says August 20th, which just so happens to be the date of the Intel Forum where Wave did the vPRo thing. I don't think its a coincidence that date of the position was chosen. Its either a damn good hoax or a hint to longs.
No comments on this?
Micro,
I'm starting to think it 'smells' too. Why was the job apparently just posted on Sept 3rd, when the date of the position say August 20th, which just so happens to mention the date of the Intel Forum where Wave did the vPRo thing. I don't think its a coincidence that date of the position was chosen. Its either a damn good hoax or a hint to longs.
TheWiz
Maybe this was already discussed but is it just a coincidence the job was posted the same day Wave was demonstrating at the Intel forum (vPro Tech)? Perhaps a deal was finalized with HP that day, and they figured they could afford the $150K salary?
I'm looking to snort any koolaid these days so forgive me.
TheWiz
So does that mean the person who had that position has jumped ship? Or, is this a new position, which I find hard to believe after all of this time.
Wally, appreciate the post but what good is 'signing' if its only for $2 million one-time payment, for example? We can get 100 more signings, but if we are basically giving it away a signing doesn't seem to mean a whole lot, does it?
And you still think we can buy a 'worthwhile' company with the cash we have? Maybe we can, but to me, it seems like pittance. I sure hope I'm wrong.
Thx again!
TheWiz
At the price they appear to be getting lately for a license, even you and I could purchase one, or so it seems! ;o)
We'll probably rally up to 18 cents today. ha
I still can't believe we fell on the side of the J3 that we've been waiting for, and yet, here we are in the teens. Just a joke really.
Still hopin' to get back to 50, so I can take just a 50% loss in many, many shares.
TheWiz
Uh, you mean $150 in 2000, sadly.
Does the patent stuff even matter at this point? We're all M&A now, right? ;o) Again, not why we invested here in the first place, but apparently, that's what we're left with. And what can we really do with the millions we have? That could be pissed away in short work. JMHO.
Let's PTSC!! Do something!
TheWiz
I wasn't going to say anything but since you felt the need to post it twice now (and usually you delete multiple posts of the same topic), isn't it a bit silly to talk about a double from a low as if its some great, wonderful thing? Why don't you look at where we were in April of 2007, 06, 05? Or, how about we pray for it to go down to 0.40 so we can hope for a triple !!! See the point? Silliness.
Respectfully,
TheWiz
In a continuation of an earlier post when I discovered Embassy was in my Recommended list, most likely due to the fingerprint reader on my new D630, I'm posting this to see if this is just a 'normal' install so far.
Yesterday I downloaded and installed said Recommended software. Below is a pic of what my menu path now looks like after the initial download and install. I then just enrolled the fingerprint reader, without TPM, and now get a Dell/Wave signon screen, and not the normal Windows one. No biggie I assume.
Anyway, I'll try to keep you all updated as I progress along here, but after several attempts, I've had no replies from my IT group. I'm guessing that they have no idea what Embassy is and only made it Recommended due to the fp reader. Should I email Steven about this, maybe?
So, does this menu path show anything different than what others are seeing for their D630?
TheWiz
Hey D&O! Yeah, I realize its indirect, but because its in 'the space' it does add to the confusion and does increase the slog for some potential customers. And in some way, is not Embassy just a software solution that can be replicated with alot of hard work?
I also agree with everything else you say too, Mr. Agenda! ;o)
Things are okay here. Btw, you may remember my earlier post about Embassy being Recommended on my new D630 by corporate...well, I've been trying to get a reply from IT about what will be policy, etc but still no reply. Anyway, yesterday I did install and begin using the fingerprint reader, but without TPM activation so far. It is quite interesting seeing Wave's name and logo showing up during login now. I was going to post a pic of what my menu path looks like to see if its similar to others but not sure I can do that without ihub membership.
Anyway, hope all is well with you!!
TheWiz
waverider, if I read it correctly, the MAC OS was just the latest...its paragraphs like the one below, and where others say they are 'first', 'best', 'only', 'most', etc.
"Check Point encryption products support more end-user platforms than any other solutions in the industry, from Windows, Linux and Mac OS based laptops to Symbian, Windows Mobile, Palm and PocketPC based smartphones and PDAs. Today, regardless of the operating systems, customers receive encryption technology from Check Point that is recognized as a data security leader in the latest Gartner Mobile Data Protection Magic Quadrant. "
Anyone have comments on the CheckPoint news? Whether it directly completes with Wave or not, isn't this the type of thing that only causes more confusion and slog for us? I know that's simplifying a bit but its probably also contributing as to why we keep missing our "definite" breakevens the last few years.
Just interested in some comments on the news since it appears most of you are just ignoring it, for whatever reason.
Thx,
TheWiz
Or, do we follow the trend and finance for 50 cents in 3 weeks?? I sure hope not!
".......if it went even just above 1.00 and stayed, the atmosphere here would change dramatically." And how sad is that?
Seriously, is this not a valid concern........I would not venture to say SKS is an out and out liar. But based on the years of statements that have been made, especially the last 2 quarters, I'd have to say it borders on either major deception, or incompetence with a dash of deception. And with that, how do we truly trust he will do what's best for existing shareholders? I'm not too concerned, at this point, the 'company' will get a good share of business. What concerns me is that existing shareholders will not benefit given what APPEARS to be a long history now of slight deception,if not recent history of serious deception.
I'd love to hear a decent reply to what I believe is a valid concern. And please don't bring up the sell argument cause I have a reply for that and we don't want to go down that path again, kabeesh?
Thx in ernest!
TheWiz
The thing that drives us nuts is we still sit here GUESSING after all of this time. If we are at the CENTER of security as some propose(and I would like to believe) then how can we have a market cap under a paltry $50 million when the street always knows ahead of time?? Is it because of the financial condition and possible delisting?? Naaahh, can't be, cause SKS just said it wasn't a problem.
The overall silence and lack of BOD support keeps me wondering that my existing shares will mean nothing when it all finally happens. Yet, I must be the only one feeling this way as earlier post went unanswered.
Well, back to just GUESSING!
TheWiz
PS. I truly appreciate the DD given by some here, but frankly, due to history here, I just see blah, blah, blah (kind of like my post). :o)
Well, this certainly isn't the company I thought I purchased. Maybe its just me, but how did they(I know, TPL) screw this up and not get on-going royalties in any of the 45 agreements? If I knew one-time payments were going to keep going after the first 8, I would've been gone awhile ago.
It sure seems like we'll be sitting at 30 cents for atleast the next 6 months.
Feeling same?
With the fact that we apparently are out of cash and need funds, and that its hard for me to stay optimistic, should I be concerned that Wave could restructure and screw the existing shareholders? I have no problem waiting for this to eventually come to fruition, but I just want to make sure my bloodied shares still have a pulse.
Also, I think at 500k and options, he has been more then compensated for the past, and I'm willing to move on a new CEO as well. I just find it hard to believe anything that comes out of his mouth anymore.
Thx!
If I read it correctly, this doesn't change anything, right? They already acknowledged this before, etc. I'm sure it will probably scare a few folks this morning, but nothing has changed, unless I'm mistaken (which wouldn't be a surprise being a holder of WAVX, ha).
TheWiz
I guess we're at the part of the hockey stick where the blade actually gets thinner (before going up)?? ;o)
Btw, it was good too see the CBI news but revs are um, disappointing. I could've sworn someone said we would be doubling revenues quarter over quarter, and then that changed to we'll just be happy increasing revenues q to q. So how do we explain this one??
I'm hoping and praying the current shareholders don't end up getting screwed, that's for sure.
Til next Q !
Hi Jas! I sure as heck hope so, but let's not forget that the price only 'appears' to be rising because we dropped like a rock (I should know cause I mistakenly bought a bunch more at 1.15 which is still underwater). Price rising is relative if you ask me.....of course, it beats the alternative. Just hope this isn't just some set up for a big post-CC drop, as we've seen before.
Still hopin'!
Ha, exactly! At this point, why would anyone take Steven's guidance over real revenues? I have to believe the street is not looking at what comes out of Steven's mouth. Fool me once.......uh, thrice....uh, ???? ;o)
Thx Ramsey....so, do I need to now worry about companies spending the next year or two getting TNC going before they decide to upgrade to TPM usage? Am I over simplifying that this is another possible delay in the long slog?
Based on the history of this investment, are others also thinking this other 'option' only confuses the masses even more and thus, causes even more possible delays?
And related to other hopeful posts out, TPM success does not surely guarantee WAVX shareholder success (even though that's what we're all betting on).
Again, thx, and I hope I just don't clearly understand.
TheWiz
Not unless Steven wants to be looking over his shoulder the rest of his life!! ;o)
Doublewide....great common sense posts and views that I think most share. Some longs, with their excellent understanding of the industry (and God knows how grateful I am for their posts), seem to equate TPM success with Wave success. Somehow, the shareprice, and the fact that no insiders buy shares, reflect that success isn't so certain. Also, how many times have we felt this way in the past? Something has always happened to cause further delay (maybe people will think 256 encryption is good enough for a years), and we've always been one announcement from stardom.
Anyway, your posts were pure common sense and shared by probably most longs so just let those holier-than-thou replies wash off your back.
Well, back to hoping, as usual!
So does this mean the Chicago 'group' had advanced warning? If so, please put me on your distribution list! ;o) I'd like to actually make money from now on!
