WahuQ is safest bet,but not many are interested.
Greed is human inbeing. If there is a piece of gold in the fire and a piece of sliver on table. I believe lots people out there choose to jump into the fire to get gold. LOL.
You can gamble, Smart one will buy insurance against it. I spent 40% buying wahuq as a insurance, rest of money can gamble without too much worry. In case WamU does not have enough assets to distribute, for example: I put 40% of $10000 and bought 2000 shares of WahuQ, $6000 for other stocks. in the event WaMu doesn't has enough essets to distribute, as a junior creditor got only half of its value,$25/share then others stocks to be wiped off totoally.
$25 x 2000= $50,000. althought I lost $6000,but I still got 5 times gain from $10,000 investment.
at this situation, Others without buying WahuQ as insurance will loss everything completely. Hope gamblers could understand this. buy insurance is vital important.

You knows, some Institutions always and intentionally sell their stock for loss for the year end tax purpose. just somewhat similar to NOL benifit. and or sell for many other purposes, no need to be so curious.
They don't need to sell 108M shares all in one order in one day. Normally,it takes 1-2 weeks to sell off, especially they like to sell on news. WaMu common stock is worthless anyway compare to $8 before B.K. moreover, the cheaper they sell, the more bargain hunters will be attracted in the market, especially in pinksheet world.
"currently owned" means up to date
go to their message boards and read the information in Ibox could help you find a way to make up your mind. Here:
WahUQ is preferred stock issued by Wamu capital trust 2001, but shareholders of WahuQ is unsecured bondholder of WaMu,inc. Its liquidation face value of $50 plus interest will be paid first then other preferred stocks. it has only around 10M shares.
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/board.aspx?board_id=14346
WamPQ and WamkQ both are preferred stocks issued by Wamu,Inc.
They are in the same class to share leftover of assets from WAhuQ. WampQ has $1000 face value with only 3M shares, WamkQ has $25 face value with 20M shares.
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/board.aspx?board_id=13494
Since WamPQ and KQ are in the same level class, To choose which one is cheaper to buy between them, don't just look at their trading price. you have to do the calculation and know that WamPQ gets 40 times liquidtion value than WamKQ does on the distribution date. So WamPQ price per share has to match up to be 40 times more than WamkQ to be equal investment.
WampQ and WamkQ ratio: 40:1
Currently WamPQ at price of $3.5, WamKQ $0.20
But based on 40:1 ratio, it means when WamKQ trade at $0.20,WamPQ shall be $0.2x40=$8/share to be equal value. therefor, WampQ price is 2 times cheaper than WAmKQ currently.
Hope these might help you make up your investment decision.
Faked ! links do work.
I don't think WaMuQ could rock any better than other preferred stocks with 1.7B shares. only If there were no preferred stocks, WamuQ then could rock high. WamU has been splited for four pieces, WamuQ itself has no more power to rock.
We shall start introducing these stocks to NYSE, Nasdaq market, those traders, investors like these kind of preferred stock. they have more $$$ than one in pinksheet world picking penney stocks.
well, congrats to you ! I am not good at jump in and out to catch opts. you knows, I've locked my shares up.
Dragon, I am not saying you. I am say someone stupid to pay more for less value, then you took a advantage on them.
Right, Wamu is not in real liquidation, but its essets has to be revaluated and redistributed to all creditors and investors based on the ratio of face value. Company doesn't have to be liquidated to pay off, Since Wamu is under chapter 11 reorganization. The company will distribute its new stocks for exchange of the debts and shareholders revaluated value. preferred stock is based on the face value if company has enough essets left to distribute.
Here more example:
WamKQ is trading at $0.20 ; WamPQ is trading at $3.50
If I had $100 now to invest, I could buy 500 shares of WamKQ at $0.20
Or I could only buy 25 shares of WampQ
When distribute to its face value:
WamKQ gets $25 x 500= $12,500
WamPQ gets $1000x 25= $25,000
you invested with the same amount of $100, but in return, WampQ gets two times more than WamKQ.
Now you see the true value?
I am buying for its liquidation value. Let me give you a lesson:
because Wampq and WamKQ will share the same "cake" based on 40:1 liquidation value.
WaMPQ to be paid $1000, WamkQ to be paid $25, the ratio is 40:1
for example:
when you buy Wamkq at $0.20, It is same like you are paying $8 for WamPQ (Q is 40 times more value than K's).
but in fact, current price of Wampq just $3.50. why are you willing to pay more than two times to get the same liquidation value??
Some people here just don't get it and don't know how to calculate.
Tell me $100 bill and 100 piece of $1bill, what is the different? same value, right?
Now, let's say WampQ is $100bill, WAmkQ is $1bill. will you get the 1 piece of $100bill, or get the 10 piece of $1bill?
of course, 1 piece of $100bill has more value than 10 piece of $1bill.
So don't be scare by the face value or bigger amount of value per share. you have to see the true value. otherwise, you will be paying more for less value.
WamKQ and WampQ are in the same class of preferred of Wamu, inc
WahuQ is in the higher priority class of preferred of trust, It is a bond, bondholders are unsecured creditors to Wamu, inc. big differrent.
its price already tell you the different.
Don't you see government bailout money goes into companies for the exchange of preferred stock, not common stock. They want to stand on top of the common stocks head.
Don't count my shares, My WahuQ and WamPQ shares have been locked up to my safe box for the liquidation value.
well, that huge amount money requires you to be patient.
It's ok to live in the dream. can we? life will be inanimate without dream.
then, that buyer must be moron. He could buy way cheaper price at market, but he didn't. and yet, he could even choose to buy preferred stocks in the market for bargain price and priority to get paid.
It will be soon over $10. If wamkQ trades at $0.20, then WampQ shall be traded at $10 for equal value.
The court restricted trading common stock of over 4.75% which is around 80.75M. To be able to transfer,it has to be agreed by company and creditor's committee first, if rejected he then turn help from judge. obviously WMI and creditors did not agree( of course),the judge is there to protect debtor, so no doubt it will be rejected. Good that WMI filed Motion to restrict this transfer earlier, otherwise, WMI would had lost the NOL tax benifit.
To be equal value: if WamkQ $0.25, wampQ shall be $0.25x40=$10. because WamPQ's liquidation value is 40 times more than WamkQ.
Toscafund must feel or found that common stock is worthless, he want to dump them, but sorry, company and court will definitely restricted the transfer.
At least $1B for B.K processing cost, $8B liabilities, $8B preferred stocks need to be paid first,$14B unsecured bondholders of WMB are starving. then how much will be left for common? They live on the rumor,so called hope the buyout will come to save them?
Get into upper level to be saved: WahuQ and WamPQ
Toscafund filed Motion to sell 108M shares of common stock
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/8/16/1351891/ToscaSell.pdf
How stupid the WMI will agree? if they agreed, WMI will lose the NOL huge benifit.

To see which stock is cheaper, you shall follow this price ratio:
WamPQ$1000 : WamKQ$25= 40:1
It means WampQ trading at $4 equal WamkQ trading at $0.10.
Whichever lower than the price, then will be a cheaper stock to buy. currently, WAMPQ is cheaper.
Just do the calculation yourslef, easy to find bargain one.

WaMPQ shall be traded at $6.4 now.
Because WamPQ and WamKQ will share the same "cake",so WampQ liquidation value: WamkQ liquidation value= 40:1
therefor, the ratio for its price shall be the same. but WamkQ trading at $0.16 shall = WampQ trading at =$6.4.
WampQ is trading at under $4. It is cheaper than WamKQ currently..

Circuit City Stores filed B.K ! Only $17M you can have a 100% ownership of those stores.
WahuQ not only gets $50 liquidation value, also interest for the period of B.K will be added and paid. interest about $2.75/yr

On page 58 of SEC filing stated:

WaMu not only has public traded preferred stocks. Wahuq,WamPQ,WamkQ they are added up together to be $4B,There are privately held preferred stocks also worth more than $4B based on its news revealed link as below:
http://www.reuters.com/article/idUS118840+26-Sep-2008+BW20080926
Series A-1: $302.3M
Series A-2: $447.7M
Trust I: $1.25B
Trust II: $500M
Trust III: $500M
Trust IV: $$1B
I don't know if Wamu has some other Series of preferred stocks. at least as I found,WaMu's preferred stocks takes around $8B, wampq, wamkq has to share with those $8B, but not WahuQ. WahuQ get paid before preferred stocks.
WamU is in Chapter 11, restructuring means "change" everything has to be changed and revaluated including stock value. Preferred stock and common stock might end up for nothing, or could be converted to new common stock if company has any asset left available for it. Preferred stock most likely will not be intact for dividend when emerge from B.K
That is trading volume not ownership. Citi as a brokerage company, people like you buy or sell Wamu share thru citi in the monthly volume.
Cit has Wamu share? where did you see this? the links shows:
"Monthly Share Volume Report", do you understand what is this mean? is this mean Cit own shares of WaMU? HOw do you understand this in english? the total volume is more than 1.8B, Wamu only has 1.7B shares total. That volume is trading volume, buy and sell. not the ownership !
WaMu has now holding no banks for Cit, sorry too late.
JPM's rival is WaMu. at this credit crisis, JPM catched this great opportunity, took a advantage of CEO changing, conspired with OTS,FDIC, rushed in Raped and Robbed WaMu before bailout money came out without giving WaMu chance to breath. See, this fighting underneath? WaMu is defeated by JPM in whatever means
