Rexam’s Embedded RFID Bottles Support a Safe and Secure Supply Chain for the Pharmaceutical Industry
06 February 2008 14:50
Rexam announces new RFID enabled containers for the pharmaceutical industry that will bring a robust and reliable solution.
Rexam has developed fully integrated Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) enabled plastic pharmaceutical bottles that allow compliance with FDA recommendations. The tags (either HF or UHF) are encapsulated into discs and molded into containers combining fully traceable life cycle and counterfeiting prevention. Using a patented technology, these new bottles allow for greater robustness and reliability of RFID functions. The integration of the tag with the bottles enables traceability from the origin of the process and ensures 100% viable tags. Rexam's RFID solution offers less damage of tags as molded-in integration protects tag and fewer null reads from tag-to-tag contact on conveyer lines.
As a renowned supplier in packaging for prescription drugs, Rexam has a comprehensive range of bottles and closures with tamper evident and child resistant features that can be delivered with this new, fully industrial, embedded RFID tags.

CRVR - partner Rexam plc awards a $1bn supply contract. It would be worth knowing their marketing and distribution spend on bottles as that would give us a fix on how big this is.

CRVR - Rexams vision of RFID
"RFID in retail has made rapid progress over recent years. According to research by IDTechEx, 500 million RFID labels will be used globally on pallets and cases in 2006, including those containing food, drinks, beauty and pharmaceutical products.
Indeed, by 2015, there could be over 400 billion RFID labels fitted to consumer goods, creating an RFID market worth US$24.5 billion globally.
Eventually, RFID labels will be seen on nearly all supermarket goods. They will reduce costs for brand owners and retailers and improve customer service through improved product availability and faster checkouts. In future, this will lead to trillions of tags being used every year.
In 2004, 35% of European retailers were experimenting with RFID1. This continued with almost half of European retailers committing to an RFID pilot in the first six months of 2005 and 89% plan to use RFID by 2006. We believe a broadly similar situation exists in the USA."
Rexam acquired Ownes end of last year for $4bn to create the worlds largest packaging company. they then combined the two operations under the Rexam banner. With that transaction, Traxxec (CRVR) now have a 15 year licence agreement across both operations covering a global market.
Well having bought Owens Illinois, they are the global market leader in packaging and are the number 1 in the US and Europe.
As an example I think they supply GlaxoSmithKline with 80 billion bottles per annum and these bottles will come wiht the RFID tags form Traxxec.
OK but it wouldn't hurt if Rexam made an annoucement!!!

You're right. I hope poeple are reading as this will fly with awareness and anyone in early will get a great return.

Good Morning mick.

IDTechEx RFID Market projections 2008 to 2018
In 2008 the value of the entire RFID market will be $5.29 billion, up from $4.93 billion in 2007.
There is so much news and refernce out there on CRVR, Traxxec, RFID and Rexam, and it all syas the same things.....
15 year licnece with Rexam is real
RFID is the future of packaging
Multi billion dollar market
It's all a question of awareness.
CRVR Traxxec - More indepenednet market data.
“In 2006, almost three times the volume of RFID tags will be sold than over the previous 60 years since their invention. Primarily this will be because retailers and military forces are demanding, for the first time, that suppliers fit tags to pallets and cases to save cost and improve service but many other applications will be growing very rapidly.
This exponential growth will continue and, by 2015, the value of sales of RFID tags will have increased by thirteen times over the figure for 2005. The value of the total market, including systems and service, will rocket to $26.9 billion in 2015. Primarily, this will be driven by another new and dramatic development. This will be the tagging of high volume items - notably consumer goods, drugs and postal packages - at the request of retailers, military forces and postal authorities and for legal reasons. In these cases, the primary benefits sought will be broader and include cost, increased sales, improved safety, reduced crime and improved customer service.
Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline and other major pharmaceutical companies have decided to start tagging certain products on a permanent basis in 2005
RFID market from Rexam's site.........
The global pharmaceutical packaging market is growing at around 4% annually in value terms and was US$19 billion by 2006. The eight largest drug-producing countries – the USA, Japan, Germany, France, China, the UK, Italy and Switzerland – will account for over 80% of demand for pharmaceutical packaging.
Based upon industry figures provided, the global market size for HDPE bottles (RFID) can be calculated at $5.7 billion, or 80 billion bottles (assuming a unit cost of $0.08).
mick, just found this on the market size and relevance for RFID - All I will say is global patent protection, and partnership with the largest packaging supplier in the world!
A new study shows that e-pedigrees, tracking and tracing biospecimens, electronic data capture of clinical information and other applications will drive growth over the next three years.
By Beth Bacheldor
The study, conducted during a five-month period, leveraged global economic data, in-depth interviews with major health-care, pharmaceutical and bio-sciences companies, and economic surveys that Health Industry Insights conducts quarterly. The key finding: the growth opportunity for the total life science RFID market size is estimated to be $9.7 billion today, and is expected to exceed $14.8 billion by 2009.
The study identifies eight major applications for the use of RFID technology, including the tracking and tracing of biospecimens; electronic data capture of clinical information; the tracking and tracing of batch and process analytics; the management and replenishment of biospecimen samples; the tracking and tracing of demand-driven supply chains; the creation of electronic pedigrees, or e-pedigrees, to help improve drug safety and fight drug counterfeiting; the management of assets and equipment; and the management of employee access and identities. It also breaks out segments by technology (application software, HF and UHF tags, implementation services, middleware, outsourcing, readers, RFID network equipment and RFID printers) and geographical regions.
The greatest opportunity lies in e-pedigrees and drug safety, according to Eric Newmark, senior research analyst at Health Industry Insights and author of the study. E-pedigrees can document each move a drug makes as it traverses the supply chain, providing the name of the manufacturer, type of drug, manufacturing lot number, and other information. According to the Health Industry Insights report, if pharmaceutical companies put RFID tags on every drug today, the total market size would be $8.8 billion market. By the end of 2009, that figure would jump to $12.3 billion.

Me too. The only thing I can think of to attract investors is for chrostmas to come early and the bid/ask closes but that would mean selling stock. Two issues, why sell cheap and you'd have to gamble on the interest. What do you think.
Doing some more DD an the news on RFID, Traxxec and Rexam is evwrywhere.
If so the steak and lobster's on me.
Good Morning mick and all, good luck to everyone this week.

CRVR - apart from a float that won't sell out below 95 cents and the najority won't sell below $3, you want to know something positive.
Plastic packaging is the focus for RFID and the Traxxec solution for which Rexam have bought a 15 year licence!!
Read below Rexam's projections:
Plastic packaging represents a large and diversified market currently estimated to be worth about US$180bn globally. Rexam concentrates predominantly on rigid plastic packaging which accounts for about US$110bn of that total market value. Within rigid plastics we mainly focus on packaging for beauty and personal care products, pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, and household products.....
With the development of new plastics, new applications and a mixture of standard and highly customised products, the plastic packaging market shows a high degree of both product and process innovation, a trend expected to continue going forward.
95% of CRVR shares are held by the developers - 2. My guess is they want to oncrease the market cap of the company through the pps increase Rexam use any of their cash for another acquisiton.
Only negative as I say is lack of awareness. The Officers are developers and thus are not expert on the markets.
Issued share are 30,363,612
Authorised shares 100,000,000
The 4,147,248 is out as it includes the 144 stock avialable that isn't on the market yet so you can take c700,000 off which means the float is even tighter!

They are technically an applictions house. They develop RFID solutions and then partner with the worlds leaders through licence deals. The partner takes the costs for marketing, Traxxec takes the royalty.
They also provide the technical infrastructure (reading/writing programmes) that manage the RFID tags.
Also the licence with Rexam is for the pharmaceutical market so there is room to extend the licence to health and beauty or additional partners in other markets.
