Hey Rheeman,
I don't know why they give Keith such a hard time about how he looks. He looks the same as he did 40 years ago. (He didn't look too good then, but he has hardly changed, lol.)
Drugs, Keith,...now that's hard to believe. (How can you perform for so many years if you had to take medication of some kind.) :8^}
~UncleFred
What are you on Rheeeeee...heehee...
Oh, you mean the Nazzzzzz,...I see...
~FX
Hawk, Took a starter position PM. Of course, I now wish I bet the farm (lake, house, a few palm trees,...8^) ).
NXXI, MSSN. eom
Just as long as you're still floating Marcos.
Yes, and I believe Marcos is in that neck of the woods also.
:8^)
Really?
Hope my last post was not too long...
And I hope none of our Chicago friends were anywhere near the workplace shooting (where it looks like seven people were killed).
:(
Yes. eom
Hey, that's my line! Mornin' Liz (Wilma!)
~Fred Flintstone
Boy, how about that MSSN...
Mildly happy with today's trading. Most trading desks were positive, albeit light on activity.
Waiting for the return of most traders & volume...
Keeping fingers crossed, F8
Sorry Jake. Hope your wife is OK.
Have a safe trip up and back.
See you about Friday I guess, if all goes as best as can be expected.
Peace, Fred
Traveling,
Am I understanding you correctly?
Stocks you purchased in '99, recovered for you to sell...at a profit?
If that's true, that's fantastic!
You may be one of the few (or only one) I know that has profitted from that long of a hold (in that type of economic climate).
Who's your advisor (if you have one)?
~F8
Traveling...
I was about to lessen that doom & gloom thought you had, but Jake did a good job at explaining it.
I might add, just keep what you're long in & not affected by this possible correction in this climate (areas like Jake & I highlighted earlier).
As is the case, especially now, you have to separate the trading hat from the investment hat.
(My head's pretty big, so I have a tough time keeping a hat on.)
Ya know, I just reread that last line. Is it me, or is there something funny about it?
%^?
~FredHat
Yes, I agree Jake.
The mtge. inv. trust (INV) is a little a-typical, based on an extensive following and research of the company.
Like ACG, DHF, & FBR of my recent past, INV is just one I start throwing excess cash into for the safe (EPS) alternative to a bank account, and while the price stays low (started putting $ in the mid 6's).
On another note, a few friends are getting hit by this virus today. How are ya'all fairing? I'm safe so far, except for the mail being returned to my inbox, that I did not send out in the first place (one of the effects of other machines with my e-mail address getting hit).
Best, F8
Jake, I may be confusing the terminology a bit here.
While an actual selloff did not ensue, the breakdown of indicators stopped almost everything in its tracks a week or two ago (remember when I first mentioned good news that resulted in a down market).
It appears now, regardless of good or bad news, the churning is continuing.
The signals from those indicators a couple of weeks ago, did not come to realization yet (certainly hoping they just go away). Whether or not they indicate bad things to come, if they don't show something soon, there will be no summer left to selloff into...
What do you think of the financial breakdown?
I feel a fence coming up under me, and it may divide sectors as well.. The trick will be to get on the right horse, and may take some tough decisions to trim down diversification (something I have never felt too comfortable with). Maybe add to my energy & biotech holdings (again, areas I do not like being overweight in), and things like CWLC (China) & INV (a mtge. investment trust).
MSSN (natural gas play) has been my strongest hold of late.
Holding..., F8
Yes, it looks like Intel's influence is not enough to sustain any big difference.
At least the summer selloff was not dramatic.
Holding on..., F8
Well, it looks like Intel will help give the Naz a boost...
Took off early yesterday (couldn't stand to stare any longer), but looks more interesting this morning.
Good luck all, F8
Hawk,
I quit ear smoking on my first try!
(Now, I just need success at stopping myself from setting my ears on fire.)

I've often wondered if gallstones & kidney stones (Flintstones, Rolling Stones) were similar in severity.
(I get a pain just mentioning them.)
Sympathy For The Devil, Rolling Stones (I wonder what that song was about?)
Thank you Ron (Wood)
Rheeman,
I wish I was sitting at that poker table with you. What a howl. I probably would do the same thing. Actually, I don't smoke, but, I once did something a bit similar. As a joke, especially with some of my smoking friends, I put an unlit cigarette in my mouth at a celebratory blackjack table. We were all winning, smoking was allowed, and I was the only one with an "unlit" cigarette.
That infamous lady that you & Marcos encountered, singled me out and asked why did I smoke. I said I didn't, I was just joking around. She said it was obvious that I did (keep in mind, I have never smoked), and maybe I felt guilty about it (?). My friends backed me up saying I was the only one in the group that did not smoke. She asked why I had the cigarette in my mouth then (obviously, not appreciating our humor). So, I lit it, stuck it in my ear, and thanked her for bringing it to my attention.
Here's to the day you can touch those patches...and start smoking with your ears again.
?)
:8^))
That's great Jake/Marcos...
I feel the urge to combine the "binky" (lol) with Marcos' story.
What if that lying lady "caught" Marcos "smoking" with Jake's Nicotrol binky?!
Would loved to have seen that lady's face too, Marcos.
While I'm a proponent of quitting smoking, liars upset me alot more.
Good luck Jake.
Will keep some luck on the side for you Marcos, when you're ready...
Off to motor around the ocean..., Fred
T-Lady,
True, but, unfortunately, for many, it may not be until much damage has been done...
:-/
Marcos, Two thoughts:
One, I see people get around the smoking thing all the time down here. Depends where you like to go, and who you're doing it with (or near). Dis aint NY down here (although I have seen some get around it in NY, just not as often).
Second, and I know it's a radical idea, and I will not elaborate or speak on it too much, but, how about, just considering, if you can, through one of the many methods out there, if I'm not being too presumptuous, about trying to, just maybe, possibly, taking a shot (maybe another shot) at, for the heck of it (OK, you have to know where I'm going by now, I dink)...................................................................................................stop smoking?!?
If your response may look something like this: !@#$%^&*(!
then, I'm sorry for mentioning it.
Some parts of Mexico can be nice 8^). Toonces is there right now ).
~Smokeless in South Florida
Yes, Marcos, we have spoken about that (RB & e-mails, I believe).
The only common advice from all the Dr.'s & fellow sufferers down here (in S. FL), has been to avoid coffee, #1.
Fortunately, I never drank coffee. But, then, what is my cause?
My basic understanding is anything that dehydrates you, is a danger. Caffeine-based products, followed by sodium (salt), calcium, cysteine,... Especially in a hot climate, hydration is vital (water, being the best source).
In fact, while I don't drink coffee, I do have an occasional cappuccino or other coffee-based specialty drink when dining out. It is so convincingly a problem, because within hours I'm having a bit of difficulty.
It might be less of an issue where you live, if the climate is cooler and you're not in air conditioning all the time.
"Crazy From The Heat", Fred Lee Roth
MarcosSixOneEight,
What you know, about NPRO?
Right after you mentioned it, price & volume started movin' up...Hmmm...
Whoa, Hawk, no coffee for me please.
You're not trying to kill me, are you? (Remember, coffee & kidney stones don't mix!)
I'll have to settle for a Van Halen song, and a glass of water.
Diver Down, but, Runnin' With The Devil, F8
Either that, or track INV...
Btw, I think that's a good long-term investment, not likely to go much below its recent low, IMHO.
~F8
Boy, that was a fast response. Were you waiting for it?
I'm no expert, but wouldn't "Shannon" be Irish?
(Prefer long dark hair overall, myself.)
Best, F8
Tough mkt. to trade in...MSSN/GERN...
MSSN still on a mission with insider buys.
GERN in one of those positive PR positions.
Best today to all, F8
Marcos,
I know it's a pain in the ___, but, at least, your files were saved. (Last summer, when my home computer was attacked, I lost everything.)
What OS were you using?
I went back to W98 at home for safety (at least, in my mind). I never did updates well, and, more & more, I feel like going backwards on some versions. (If I could go back to AOL 4.0, I probably would.)
Technology (including software upgrades) is still well outpacing our ability to use it, and our business acumen, IMHO.
Best going forward, F8
Marcos,
Which virus did you have? eom
APOA/MSSN
APOA - Good numbers in 10Q (esp. for an OTCBB).
MSSN - Insider buying in the $1.40's.
Best, F8
Liz,
If you expect the unexpected, doesn't that make the unexpected, expected?! (lol, G. Carlin)
Didn't expect that, did ya?
8^)
~FATE
Ron,
Sounds like your computer problem was unique to you, which was not good for you, but, not something the rest of us have to look out for (I hope).
Maybe Tate is The Shadow...;8^)...
Still holding APOA, SIRI, & WBR, & watching closely.
(MSSN for long term.)
Best, Fred8
Hey Ron,
Your Freestyle Walker looks like a cross between SpiderMan, The Shadow, and something out of Cirque de Soleil. Funniest part was when I had him sit on the other guy's head. :8^)
Couple Questions: What kind of virus (personal or electronic)?
Do you know why you could not post here?
How long were you in the dark (maybe the Dark Walker could have helped you)? :)
I also notice someone welcomed you back on the board,...who I do not believe ever posted here before (pretty good).
Have to wait till morning to judge this market. Many false indications on Friday. Again, maybe The Shadow knows...heehee.
~FredLight
P.s. APOA for you gamblers out there...
Thanks Hawk...
I've been out of the semi's for a while now. I'll take a closer look. Maybe this will be my reintroduction to them.
On another note, weird blackout-affected trading day. No real AMEX trading to speak of, and everything else a bit skewed.
I'm taking my toys and going home now.
Good weekend to you & all.
~FredOut
