The update on this news released today is very important if one pays close attention to details...
The article focuses on recent research, which demonstrated the ability of Phytocannabinoids to inhibit HIV TAT a vital function of HIV, as well as Cannabis Sciences' recently launched Cannabinoid inhibitory HIV TAT platform called CS-TATI-1.
Cannabis Science is currently the only company looking at the commercial development of a Phytocannabinoid based TAT inhibitor and we hope to understand more about the promise of CS-TATI-1 as it matures through preclinical development," stated Jeannie Wraight, Editor-in-Chief of HIV Haven.
Cannabis Science will also be pursuing other clinical research collaborations including the AIDS Clinical Trials Groups (ACTG), the Canadian AIDS Trial Network (CATN) and the European AIDS Trial Network (EATN).
HIV's ability to mutate and reproduce itself even in the presence of antiretroviral drugs, has led to a growing rate of drug resistance. Increasing drug resistance is severely limiting treatment options for HIV patients around the world, increasing direct and indirect health costs, furthering the spread of drug resistant strains of HIV and is creating a pressing need to develop new HIV drugs.
The U.S. government invests billions of dollars a year in HIV/AIDS research, treatment and care through a variety of
programs. The Ryan White CARE Act, which funds the treatment and care of people living with HIV in the U.S., totals $2.3 billion a year. Among its many other contributions to fighting HIV/AIDS globally, the U.S. provides $22.8 million annually to The U.S. Military HIV Research Program and approximately $1 billion per year to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Pharmaceutical sales to treat HIV equal US $10.6 billion annually. Treatment cost per patient in the U.S. for HIV antivirals alone is approximately US $15,000 a year.

Importance of Vegas as a hub of International Jet-Setters....Who doesn't enjoy the raw energy of Tinsel Town?...along with a visit to the clinic or salon....with planning in motion for a third strategic location in Vegas. This direction for CBIS looks like a "cherubic bread-winner."

Thanks for your post. I have significant interest in learning more about the biochemical nature of "modulatory triggers" revealed by recent discoveries concerning the "timing gates" in our DNA via the Nova special, "What Darwin Never Knew."
Theoretically, it seems like the biochemical trigger for a DNA timing gate to activate its proper response should be tied to the endocannabinoid messaging system. If so, CBIS would have a compelling interest to have a professional look. Maybe, they already have. I wonder what Dr. Melamede might have to say about this phenomenon? The discussion about the genetic timing gates comes later in the production...I will be listening again, and pinpoint the time since I appreciate the scientific brilliance, and sociological implications concerning the overall subject.
Nature evolves changes for a purpose. All change to living organisms is initiated by biochemical forces in motion which is why I choose to apply the thinking of Newton's Third Law toward the effects of biochemical forces in motion. Whenever mankind sets chemistry in motion , there will be an equal, and opposite reaction. Meaning...something is definitely going to happen....These chemical interventions are known to catalyze resistances, yet, we continue to tread the gratuitous path of subsidizing chemical companies as though they have the answer to our prayers...yet... the real truth is quite the opposite...think about the magnitude of the chemical forces set in motion by mankind. Yes, they WILL have an effect. Many of us know that. Take another glance at radiation levels still flowing from Fukushima. Education may be of benefit for others.
"What Darwin Never Knew"...Sorry, but the NOVA video was removed..it sure still exists elsewhere...

Yes, Pollux....just a sidebar response...I think you have discovered the source of the sensational reputation for "Moroccan oil" as originating from the Argan Tree. Sorry to hear about the shortage of Argan product. I wonder if the Argan tree can be grown in areas of Nevada which may resemble proper climate conditions of Morocco in essential respects? 15 years for a crop...I would still look for cultivation opportunities in Nevada, anyway, or determine if any geographic area in the States might work. If not...I would look toward Mexico for productive agricultural opportunity. I see any effort to stimulate domestic commerce as good.

It looks toward being a "record-breaker" whenever CBIS is legally permitted to have the proper cancer-fighting phytocannabinoids in the formulation. Use of non-psychoactive HEMP oil in the formulation holds impressive potential alone as a product recommended by Cannabis Science for protection from the sun or whatever recommended use may be. The CBIS skin care formulations will also become "trade-secrets." And now Senator Wyden from Oregon is moving to get HEMP removed from the political-emotional stigma surrounding "the marijuana family of natural plants."
We have not yet arrived at a stage of awareness where we have learned about the social benefits of adjusting a person's endocannabinoid levels.
Your comment, deafelephant...."It goes to show the amount of potential CBIS' Phytiva line may hold. Impatiently waiting for the product rollout!"

Talk about a ripe market for high-end skin-care products....Within the last several weeks a news release was aired on a news program about a woman who recently started skin-care product manufacturing in Israel touting the unique properties of... "Moroccan oil"...in her product line. The secret formula may have had 25 ingredients with a small jar targeted to a high-end market at $42 a POP. Apparently, she was swamped with excited customers, and appears to be on a rapid road to wealth accumulation. It was a success story about the explosive growth, and interest her business generated. This should be exciting news about market potential for CBIS too. Sorry, I don't have a link to the story.

Fantastic news about HEMP moving toward cultivation in America along with increased understanding. I recall statistics touting China as one of the world's largest HEMP growers. Obviously, America's former posture on HEMP had the effect of subsidizing China's HEMP enterprise since Washington's stance prohibited domestic cultivation. Senator Wyden's legislative proposal is intended to reverse the economic damage from prior HEMP policy in Washington. Nice to see our Legislative Representatives making an effort to save America a few more bucks, and create more jobs at home. Way to go Senator Wyden. Great for CBIS too.
Ron Wyden of Oregon proposed an amendment to the Farm Bill that would exclude industrial hemp from the definition of marijuana, allowing American farmers to grow the plant legally for the first time since 1957.

Great post from a technical perspective. And then there is this one-minute 16 second NBC NEWS release touting MMJ as an effective protocol for dissolving breast cancer tumors. Ending with a mention about prostate cancer. These positive releases about the expanding awareness of Cannabis Science seem to nurture, and feed the others...
You see....The primary message has hit Middle-America via a bread and butter outlet like NBC NEWS. There sure seems to be a mother lode of bread being buttered these days. Some may like their bread dipped in the miraculous oil from the days of our ancestors. Soooooooo...we need a vote to get healed?
Anyone who watched the Tommy Chong interview on CNN today with Don Lemmon Must still be smiling, especially, if you believe in a bright future for CBIS. The relaxed drawn-out interview was peppered with valuable information as the host conveyed sincere interest about Chong's Cannabis oil approach to telling his prostate cancer cells to take a permanent hike. Chong mentioned Phoenix Tears.
I enjoyed seeing the "Hollywood-effect" from an interview with a name all of America knows. We might all get lucky when someone posts the interview clip on U-Tube. I saw Chong's picture after his cancer diagnosis when he had that pallid grey look...the way most people with serious medical problems look...but, even now, I noticed Tommy Chong has his skin-color back, and he looked animated. The interview ended with Chong saying, "You should have me back when I am cured." And Don Lemmon responded, " We would love to have you back when you are cured, and hear more about your treatment program..."
I guess some people still doubt the healing power of Cannabis? Oh yeah, it may not be that anymore....I almost forgot....we are finally getting down to the last wall of resistance....defeatist speculation that CBIS can't get a product into a bottle, and into the marketplace. It sounds like kind of a silly supposition....but it makes an interesting bet if you know the path is "balled-up" with regulatory red-tape...since recent revelations from leadership indicate the bread gets buttered in Washington through back-door diplomacy.
And then there is the persuasive power of a compelling message being heard from a person everyone knows about.... If this isn't an exciting story, then....What Is?
Ladies, and gentlemen...are we ready to place our bets?

Getting more effective less expensive drugs to market will take full support of the American electorate in light of special interest maneuvers. CBIS has a busy road ahead. A report from the NY Times...

WASHINGTON — After weeks of quiet talks, drug industry lobbyists were growing nervous. If they were to cut a deal with the White House on overhauling health care, they needed to be sure President Obama would stop a proposal by his liberal allies intended to bring down medicine prices.

I don't expect to see CBIS in this SP range for much longer. Too much momentum, and awareness unfolding in the "Green Sector," in general. Far too much talent assembling at CBIS to keep a lid on the emergence of MMJ. Cannabis science has limitless potential...and it kills cancer. I'm not idling around to debate naysayers...I've seen enough already. A miraculous message is reaching mainstream America. Many other eyes we do not see are are watching closely...and some of those beings wield clout.
We are moving onward with a very exciting adventure whose time has come. When one hits a point of critical mass...it's up...up...and away. I don't need to chase SP...I'm fortunate.

I notice you are one of the more experienced individuals around these boards. I find the issues you raise in your post valid. I assume you have been investing for many years?
I see a third possibility with UNGS in the area of real-estate accumulation. The company might be intended as nothing more than a "cardboard-front" to simulate the appearance of a legitimate enterprise while accumulating as much land as possible at shareholder's expense. I recall Wayne began as a podiatrist...or could it have been a proctologist? In light of current circumstances...one might be leaning toward choice #2. I believe Wayne was in Real Estate just before UNGS, and Jim is alleged to have some land or development deals going. So the main plan might be to accumulate land. Actual details seem unclear. I don't believe a "friggin" word I hear on these boards without substantive confirmation. One expects to hear plenty of speculation, and some views seem rather twisted. Sorting fact from fiction takes a lot of work.
I have not heard any concrete details yet about the character of the Anderson "executives" from anyone who personally knows them so I have no real compass for guidance. I am limited to forming an opinion about them based upon their behaviors....So they are not looking too tall these days. I sympathize with the frustrations of everyone on this board.
UNGS is poised to be an asset during tax-season if one needs the benefit of loss declarations. They fooled me...I actually felt they might be serious players at one point. Why did they spend an entire year getting their infrastructure together? That's a move one makes to prepare for a sale or to increase production. Remember a proposed sale of partial assets a few years ago to help clear their 1.78 million debt obligation? The deal apparently collapsed so they issued more than a billion shares instead.
The closing of my last post should have been, "Life can be heaven or hell...which way are we headed?" ...Without corporate guidance there can be no real certainty...And even then...who really knows in Pinkie-land?
Time will tell the real story. Your response is appreciated, thanks.
Best Wishes
The big mystery I find with UNGS is their apparent inability to exploit the vast mineral rights they own. They only purchase wells with previous production history. So, with the massive share numbers, are we all supposed to believe they lack the ability to hire a few more workers to expand production?
I fear they may be little more than a "false-front," an apparent legal scaffolding used to dispose of cash. I'm even more disturbed by unsubstantiated rumors I've heard about the son living a lavish lifestyle globe-trotting. Allegations are that the son has an impressive speedboat, and has a passion for diving. Are his favorite diving places near the Florida Keys?.... I wonder if he ever encounters sunken treasure?....Is anyone thinking this through?
...A simple solution for the Anderson clan....You are encouraged to get your operation up and running like an authentic enterprise with actual production, and drop the hogwash, and sleight-of-hand maneuvers.
Of course, we will all love you dearly if your stonewall-silence is because UNGS has been purchased by another concern. That could explain all the mystery, and silence. Is there anyone still here leaning toward the buyout theory?...It has to be my favorite ending...and would best serve the Anderson boys too. Have never had the pleasure of meeting them.
Life can be hell sometimes...

CBIS needs FDA approval to move ahead with the greenish cancer-killing "goo" we have been discussing for many months. I was "stunned" to learn the FDA is a primary driver behind ECT therapy, also known as electro-convulsive therapy. And they have had their finger in the pie for more than 50 years. Many people fear the FDA will deregulate the device another notch to make it more accessible to "professional medical interests."....While CBIS is still waiting for FDA approval for their "miraculous" cancer-killing protocol. I find the contrast between these two therapeutic interventions mind-boggling.
I already recognize Dr. Moore's outlook does not lean toward increased shock therapy. Instead, it looks like Dr. Moore will be playing a strategic role with CBIS as a liaison with the FDA since he knows how they operate from the inside. Welcome, Dr. Moore, to the cause of improving the quality of life for all people.
On the other hand, why are so many doctors still calling for more relaxed guidelines concerning this aggressive ECT intervention for deep-depression? It sounds like the same old mantra to me...
“People use it because it works,” said Dr. Laura J. Fochtmann, a member of the task force, professor and director of the Electroconvulsive Therapy Service at Stony Brook University Medical Center, Long Island.
States Dr. Peter R. Breggin, “It’s a big money-maker,” he said. “I would say if anything it’s been on the increase because there’s a market that’s been exploited, that is the elderly depressed women on Medicare. The reason for that is they’re covered, and there’s no one to protect them. What commonly stops shock treatment is a family member saying ‘over my dead body.’ ”
Does this sound familiar? Does CBIS have an alternate FDA plan in motion? I can't see exactly what CBIS is doing from the "outside"...but I know...they are all very smart people. In retrospect, I would say the presence of Dr. Moore is the alternate plan for CBIS working with the FDA.

Apparently, some of our schools love ECT too... Anderson Cooper aired the subject 22-05-12. You need seven-minutes and 41 seconds to listen.
For some hidden reason, I feel comforted to know you are listening and watching. Your presence, and contributions are greatly appreciated...a gain for CBIS, and me too. Thanks again, "cowboydan."

The context for this comment came while addressing another shareholder's issues about CBIS in 2009...in case it may matter to anyone...
The above is a direct quote from my comments yesterday...I still agree with myself...even more so today. Thanks, deafelephant, for your tireless positive input here.

BOY! You sure have that right...your comments...
It's amazing to me that all these retired public officials suddenly change their views on cannabis after they retire... Politicians, judges, federal employees like assistant surgeon generals, homeland security, policemen, etc.
What the heck is stopping them from voicing their opinion while they are still on the job ?
anyway, it's great to now have Dr. Moore on board to lend even more credibility to CBIS.
Yeah...I feel we have seen enough comatose elected leadership....AND I NOTICE VOTERS ARE SEEING IT THAT WAY TOO...
A new world is finally taking shape based upon public sentiment...
Time to take a deep breath, and relax a bit more without becoming too complacent, so one can appreciate the miraculous beauty of the journey...
For those who wish to track the momentum of NY planning toward decriminalization for possession....When it's in effect, the new laws will have a huge impact toward accelerating momentum with MMJ acceptance across-the-board. I always appreciate the quality of your contributions on this board.

Your perspective seems to have "skimpy merit" since actual details of such allegations appear to be unknown. I find continued speculation concerning this issue unproductive....I feel Angel has moved on. He looks intelligent enough to recognize the unlimited potential of what he is engaged with. Who would risk frittering away a prosperous, and meaningful future for peanuts? Can you grasp the revenue generating potential for RIGH when our world wakes-up to the miraculous cancer-fighting potential of Cannabis? I predict Angel Stanz will become rich, and famous....Mark that, if you care to.

PS Compassion has nothing to do with looking for a business advantage to exploit...
We must be companions in the cause to see RIGH prosper....What happens today when the 3,860,000 at @.0002 is taken out? Do we sit on .0001 until RIGH gets their symbol change? Who in the world would ever sell their one's? Oh...it's just a defensive strategy until structural changes come. RIGH has a revenue stream...they don't need to flip for "mills"...I barely recall the green plastic mills of former days one needed to make proper change with...when gasoline was .25 per gallon or lower.
I'm impressed with the International reputation for excellence which RIGH will continue to benefit from. To me, Angel Stanz, looks like a highly gifted intellectual with a compassionate orientation who is preparing for business while global demand for product analysis continually increases....I mean the picture of Angel standing near the airplane...I would post the picture if I could locate it...He definitely selected an opportunistic business niche with immense growth, and revenue potential. Getting all the mechanical pieces in place seems elementary...and will happen over time....I can relax a bit...I get the feeling you can too.
NY getting their ducks in a row to decriminalize possession of herb for recreational use...and once they do...many other States will follow. A foundation for broad acceptance to decriminalize possession will soon lead to an open road for more States with MMJ medical protocols. And Angel is ready for business....Investors in RIGH should feel excited...I know, I sure do. Who else do you think was buying at .0002 today?

You raise issues many investors look at. Who wouldn't be excited about proposed plans for a Cancer Center in Arizona? For some unknown reason, the expectations didn't manifest in a few days. One can only speculate as to why, so we are left with little more than unsupported opinions. We all know CBIS is in an active phase of transition, and planning with so many new faces joining the collective effort. This is entirely new for CBIS....this impressive, "meeting of the minds, and talent" was not part of their prior history. Why are so many of the "eagles" from the "Green Sector" gathering in Colorado? Because the seeds for global change have been planted there. My gratitude, to the visionary people of Colorado who have set a foundation for positive planetary change in motion.
It is easy to criticize CBIS from a theoretical perspective without having the benefit of seeing all contributing factors. I understand the relative value of looking at past patterns...and there is sufficient CBIS history to evaluate. Most people recognize something new appears to be taking shape for CBIS. What is it? Let's take some time to look at positive factors enriching the goals of CBIS.
With Dr. Melamede, CBIS has a recognized world-class authority in the field of cannabis science. The research has been ongoing for many years...in fact, Dr. Melamede states he has hundreds, and hundreds of peer-reviewed articles about the efficacy of MMJ protocol to kill cancer.
Cannabis related medicine is an emergent field with staggering revenue potential. Significant demand for products, and solutions exists.
CBIS is positioned in a geographic location which supports their stated mission. They are in the company of other successful MMJ directed enterprises.
CBIS does not need a sprawling complex with polished marble floors to conduct meaningful research at this point in time. Maybe later...as growth expands...."for first impression."
Momentum toward acceptance of cannabis for medicine, and general use is building. NY is ready to put its hat in the ring with both Cuomo, and Bloomberg, along with other crucial law enforcement personnel, pushing for support of decriminalization for possession of less than 25 grams of marijuana. Their reasoning addresses vital social, and economic concerns. But from here, its just one more small step to provide all citizens of NY the "right to access" MMJ as an adjunct to enhanced healthcare options. It would represent a compassionate gesture of hope for those MMJ will help. NY has always been in the vanguard of imminent social change. Will they do it again? If so, watch the other states follow...
We see sensational anecdotal results with MMJ protocol in the case of the child, Cash Hyde, and with the progressed brain tumor victim who appears to be winning the struggle to stay alive because of MMJ.
As chilling, is the spate of victims afflicted with a flesh-eating bacteria. A fifth subject is now reported. I recall Dr. Melamede stating that MMJ protocol is known to be effective for this condition. Someday, a victim might have a brighter future if they are fortunate enough to live in a legally sanctioned MMJ state. Or, perhaps, they could be moved to a "safe State" for treatment.
Essentially, CBIS is in the midst of dramatic transformation. Why not give them more time to grow?
I keep commenting about the importance of the NBC NEWS release targeting the potential of MMJ protocol to dissolve breast cancer tumors. They mention prostate cancer too so there is a slight potential for this new frontier of emergent science to resonate with the likes of Warren Buffet due to his recent diagnosis of prostate cancer. This NBC news capsule has penetrated the consciousness of "Middle-America." People are starting to wake up. This is a time to be excited about our future...and this is why I continue to support CBIS. Structural changes can be made as they are called for... I'm willing to let the river flow....There are too many contributing factors in motion I cannot see or control...
Thanks, gabbyco, for your time, patience, expertise, and effort.
Link to NBC NEWS release below.
I think you underestimate the importance of the NBC NEWS release about recent breakthroughs in the area of breast cancer with an MMJ approach. Apparently, this study was independent of CBIS, and the news hit mainstream America. Meanwhile, CBIS has been immersed in cannabis research for many years.
By now, Dr. Melamede has enough information to write a book on the subject...an easy bet to win.
You find the link to the NBC NEWS release below...
Thanks. Your copious information in reference to TAT is greatly appreciated. You are fortunate to be scientifically oriented.
Your second point of concern is easy to relate to:
As I mentioned the other day, it appears they have a pattern on not following through as well as feeding off media releases to taylor their PR's. I'm sick and tired of unfulfilled projects not to mention the recycling of them. Now they are going to do what?
Cannabis Science is currently in the process of forming an eminent Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) for the CS-TATI-1 program. The SAB will include several leaders in HIV research and commercial drug development.
Can you say the cart before the horse?
However, I notice the article you link to at the end of your post is dated 27-07-09, so it may not be a fair assessment for today....Even though I can hear the unified, and animated chorus of dissent from here, in-light of so many apparent unfulfilled CBIS proposals in motion.
My solution to enhance follow-through would be to hire someone who could hold a clip-board, and verify clearly defined stages of completion toward every single project proposal made. This way, one could more easily identify progress toward the stated goal...and be transparent if a goal is held-up due to "red-tape" or terminated for a particular reason. CBIS has so much cooking that something, based upon the statistical probability of sheer numbers alone, would reach completion. I can live with a "road-map" toward progress in place... as I find the "scatter-shot" approach somewhat lacking too.

I am able to answer my own question after visiting Wikipedia... If it matters to anyone else...
Tat is a HIV gene.[1][2]
Tat stands for "Trans-Activator of Transcription". Tat consists of between 86 and 101 amino acids depending on the subtype.[3]
It seems a bit of a stretch to assume people might know what TAT means...
Best Wishes
PS- Wikipedia had it as "an HIV" which I changed to "a HIV" since the simple rule of use for A and AN in the English language is to use "A" before all words beginning with a consonant, and use AN before words which begin with vowels. This rule remains consistent, and does not appear to be taught in many of our schools these days...
Thanks for posting such a powerful and exciting news article about CBIS being involved with MMJ development concerning HIV TAT. Is anyone able to give me the words which represent the meaning of TAT? I'm sorry, but I don't know what TAT stands for...it must be something simple we are all assumed to know. Again, here is the link to the article...

This 15 minute presentation by Dr. Melamede provides a deeper understanding concerning fundamental biochemical issues which contribute to the orientation of complementary personality types. The piece provides good insight into the professorial dimension of Dr. Melamede.... One notices he belongs at the head of the class for a good reason.
I feel your first sentence points directly at the primary obstacle to overcome....
"CBIS - going up against the machine"
We all recognize the formidable barriers of Big Pharma and their loyal alliances to the ultimate success of CBIS.
There is also the impact from the social factor of Dr. Bob airing his views from several years ago. I feel the posted video series of 30 tapes is a major distraction to the current goals of CBIS even though I find his discussion of BLPs, and FLPs brilliant from a sociological perspective. Why? Because it entails an understanding about why we are so different from a biochemical perspective. His view has scientific validity along with critical insight toward social harmony. Dr. Melamede's discussions bring awareness to our fundamental differences without creating the need to "control the other side." Our reality could be, "Live and let live," if we collectively realized the scientific justification to do so. It sure would save a great deal of money, and prevent needless suffering...both medically, and in terms of misdirected social justice.
Now, I understand why Dr. Melamede might be considered a high-priority "impediment" for those unable to digest the unifying aspect of his social message. His free-flowing expressions carry a high charge of energy. Again, I feel this is definitely a distraction relative to what CBIS wants to achieve medically. Did Bill Gates or Steve Jobs have much political clout when they were trying to get things off the ground? If they held an incendiary social perspective, it probably wasn't expressed in their early days. It was later when people started listening to them. I finally have a clear perspective concerning the undying rants about Dr. Melamede giving a shirtless interview. After watching, I feel it's really more about the jolting choice of his words than his boldness to expose bare skin on July 4th. That piece directly follows the link to his seven-minute 20 second discussion about the biochemical distinction between BLPs, and FLPs which you find below.
Thanks, I enjoyed seeing the hemp car. You may have seen this link of bullet-points posted about the history of HEMP. It comes from World-Mysteries.com. One realizes our present world would be totally different had hemp been allowed to flourish.
Did you know, it is estimated that hemp has approximately 25,000 uses? From food, paint and fuel to clothing and construction materials, hemp is used. There are even hemp fibers in your Red Rose® and Lipton® tea bags. And several cars made today contain hemp.
Hemp was so important in England in the 16th century that King Henry VIII passed a law in 1553 which fined farmers who failed to grow at least one quarter acre of hemp for every 60 acres of arable land they owned. There was even a time in history for over 200 years when you could pay your taxes in America with hemp. In 1850 there were more than 8,300 hemp farms in the United States.
* The first Bibles, maps, charts, Betsy Ross's flag, the first drafts of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were made from hemp; U.S. Government Archives.
* In 1916, the U.S. Government predicted that by the 1940s all paper would come from hemp and that no more trees need to be cut down. Government studies report that 1 acre of hemp equals 4.1 acres of trees. Plans were in the works to implement such programs; Department of Agriculture

Your view moves my own understanding in another direction. I appreciate your patience and methodical portrayal of information as you see it. Have you been on the ground up where CBIS is located? It may be time for a drop-in visit. I realize the physical pieces of significant restructuring might look like one heck of a mess to anybody watching. What about announcements of Robert Kane, and Cheryl Shuman moving to Colorado? So many CBIS plans not falling into place?
I realize our government can stop almost anything in its tracks except for the power of truth to eventually reach the people. What happened to Guantanamo Bay plans, and for that matter, the timely resolution of our current national debt crisis? It seems, government holdups are a way of life, and the "big-dogs" have a reputation for squashing those whom they do not favor.
Your point about giving away shares to undisclosed parties for the payment of debt raises concern. Do you know what can be confirmed in respect to this issue? I've felt CBIS research may require little more than a modest setting like a decent sized basement. How long were Bill Gates, and Steve Jobs able to work at home? How much space did Rick Simpson need to popularize his famous oil? Simpson made an impact from his home base, and anyone else could too.
I understand why we might see some panic selling with CBIS. I notice every CEO of every MMJ company seems to get rendered with a strong negative shadow by certain people. So the law of averages fails this paradigm since one is compelled to see all of these people as manipulators, and tricksters. Am I expected to believe one is unable to find just one good man or woman in the entire bunch covering the full-spectrum of leadership in the Green-Sector? I doubt it is statistically possible. This is not a balanced perspective... it's like calling all lawyers, and politicians crooks....Not even close to being a true statement. I suspect the "fixers" are busy at work.
Hey, I'm hooked on the science...take my money. Give me something real to think about...something I care about. I'll go fishing tomorrow, if I need to. Ultimately, is CBIS a viable enterprise or not? What is "real" for me may not be "real" for you. You have given me more to think about.
Anyway, I thank you for your thoughtful response.

I assume the comments at the end of your post convey your understanding relative to CBIS progress or lack there of?
*Yesterday-The company realizes that in order to bring cannabis-based medications and remedies to the mainstream market, extensive research is necessary.
SO, IT'S NOT READY NOW AS STATED BACK IN 2009?
My understanding moves in a different direction. I invite you to please reconsider...
I'm glad you took the time to document the long history of CBIS formulating treatments for various cancers. I find CBIS persistence, and dedication impressive. It makes no real sense to assume CBIS has perpetrated little more than a stringer of deception with their news releases while researching the cancer-fighting potential of phytocannabinoids all-along-the-way. In fact, CBIS has been ready to move ahead for years....And what about the Harvard doctor who is unable to get herb for his research from the only authorized governmental body to provide it? How many others are waiting for the Feds to act responsibly?
CBIS stands to see minimal forward movement without Federal cooperation. CBIS has demonstrated a willingness to proceed with potentially effective MMJ protocols for many years, as your post adequately demonstrates. Our Congressional representatives must awaken to the seriousness of fundamental impediments to achieving success. Protecting the status-quo is no longer an acceptable solution. The world is poised to embrace informed cooperation concerning MMJ. People need to vote. Why blame CBIS for lack of results? Congressional leadership is stalling progress to a substantial degree by keeping cannabis a schedule-one drug. So the big shots get to say, "Our hands are tied." Maybe, they want it that way. What do citizens want? This fact of "grid-lock" points toward the "slanted-agenda," and paralysis of current elected leadership. Talk about a ponderous lack of follow-through? Meanwhile, the MMJ dependent general populace suffers numerous deleterious consequences....For how much longer, I ask? We may choose to kindly disagree about "who" is holding up the show, and why? I see things differently.
One eccentric visionary Billionaire can change the whole ballgame for everyone if they understand how to redirect the global economy toward an economic advantage without causing industrial chaos or social upheaval. Does anyone really still wonder if the global economy needs creative input? It will also be a great day for CBIS. Listening skills, and communication can become effective tools for transformation. People just need to keep the ball rolling....

"The Benefits and Limits Of Medical Marijuana" link is of vital importance. Thanks, Pollux, for posting this PBS presentation. One begins to grasp the reasons for delays, and lack of progress concerning MMJ implementation since the man-in-charge appears to come to the table with unsupported unscientific perceptions. I admit, his views must have some semblance of validity to him. At least, Dr. Voth recognizes the existence of an endocannabinoid system. What a relief. However, he appears enamored by the "magic-bullet" theory which alleges a particular cannabinoid may be sufficient to trigger the desired effect. Dr. Voth's approach ensures patents can be issued. His apparent short-sighted theory excites Big Pharma to no end since they are lined-up hoping to reap big profits. On the other hand, Dr. Melamede has spoken extensively about the shortcomings of "magic-bullet" tunnel vision.
For guidance, I look toward Newton's third law: "For every action there is an equal, and opposite reaction." This particular law places a focus on the importance of natural balance. Why did our planetary evolution produce the biochemical constituents of the cannabis plant the way we find them today? Why do all vertebrates have an endocannabinoid system? Is it wise to minimize the importance of the full-spectrum of phytocannabinoids before we really understand how they work together?
So...you mean we are all biochemically oriented to respond to the full-range of phytocannabinoids found in the cannabis plant? It sure looks that way. And the psychoactive effects of cannabis tends to frighten certain personality types, even though many people are totally comfortable with the psychoactive experience.
I just want to say that, "When one alters biochemical balance for any reason, there will be a noticeable, and measurable reaction." Here's where I appreciate Newton's Third Law. And sometimes synthetic medicines are medically impressive, but don't forget about the long list of side-effect symptoms for all drugs. Some of the FDA wonder-drugs have caused irreparable damage resulting in loss of life. It is wonderful to realize modern science is "trying" to help humanity. Does this mean all people have the capacity to access beneficial critical thinking skills to help themselves or others?
Let's take a glance at Dr. Voth:
Dr. Voth's argument against marijuana in the PBS piece is prefaced with his opinion that because the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not proven the plant to be safe and effective, it is not a real medicine.
In the mind of Dr. Voth and conventional medicine, only an "active component" that has been individually tested and shown to produce a specific, measurable effect by itself is considered a valid medical treatment. Consuming a whole herb or plant to treat disease, on the other hand, is a foreign concept to people like Dr. Voth who simply cannot comprehend the idea that the multitude of components found in medicinal foods and herbs work in tandem with one another to produce a synergistic benefit. And such components might not be as effective -- and may even be harmful -- if they are removed from the others and isolated, or created synthetically.
I feel certain Dr. Melamede would relish an opportunity to have a scientifically-based discussion concerning the merit or cautions raised by taking a "magic-bullet approach" to fighting cancer with the cannabis plant. Are we sufficiently gifted as a country to face this degree of scrutiny, and moral maturity?

Hey, I'm still excited by the NBC NEWS video clip after listening to it five times. Some profoundly positive comments were made, and the video feed went national. And what was said.......
Dr. Sean Mc Allister commented, "....What we found is that this compound called cannabidiol was particularly effective inhibiting aggressive breast cancers." "...it stops the spread of tumors..." You may not realize the affliction of breast cancer claims the lives of more than 41,000 American women each year.
The NBC spokesperson comments toward the end of the piece..."It may be several years before patients may benefit from a CANNABIS cancer-fighter." I recall Dr. Melameade commenting, "Look for CBIS profitability several years down the road. He does not represent CBIS as a "perfect play for flippers." I suppose this point can be argued. I'm glad Dr. Melameade is a recognized world authority in the field of endocannabinoids since it fits so nicely with the mission of CBIS.
CBIS still looks like a great "ten-cent stock" to me. Feel free to disagree. I know what real "stinky-pinkies" look like since I have owned some. CBIS appears to be in a world of its own. Except for SP, I see no meaningful comparison.
For those who may have missed the NBC link, look below.
Henry Ford knew all about making fuel from HEMP, but look what we ended up with. Changing the orientation of the entire world will take a bit of time. CBIS has a great opportunity to become a pioneer in an emergent field. They have the enthusiasm, and the talent to accomplish great things. We see many benefits from this age of technology which help spread the message. Change is a fact of life. This is a time for true innovator's to step up, and shape the history of humanity toward a path of accelerated healing. Sound education all-along-the-way is required.
The first diesel engine was designed to run on vegetable oils, one of which was hemp oil. In the 1930s Henry Ford produced an automobile composed of 70 percent hemp plastic which also ran on hemp based fuel and oil. In 2001 the "Hempcar" circled the North American continent powered by hemp oil.
Every 3.6 seconds someone in the world dies of hunger. HEMP seeds are the most nutritious and economical solution to end world hunger. With an 80 percent concentration of "good fats" our bodies need for good health maintenance and protein with all eight amino acids plus optimum dietary fibre, hemp truly is a "perfect balance" food source.

I'm not too concerned about CBIS ever breaching this first patent claim since it is so specific. It seems like CBIS would have to be using the very same formula, within a certain parameter, to be held accountable for patent violation. If one asks CBIS how they extract their cannabis oil...does one expect an answer? What are the odds it is identical to the method outlined below?
The specific invention claimed is:
1. A method for producing .DELTA..sup.9 tetrahydrocannabivarin (.DELTA..sup.9 THCV) crystals comprising: i) obtaining an ethanolic solution of a botanical drug substance from cannabis plant material, ii) passing the solution obtained in step i) through a column of activated charcoal, and collecting the eluate, iii) remove solvent from the eluate by rotary evaporation to give a .DELTA..sup.9 THCV enriched fraction, iv) passing a solution of the resulting .DELTA..sup.9 THCV enriched extract through a column packed with Sephadex LH20, eluting with 2:1 chloroform/dichloromethane, v) collecting .DELTA..sup.9 THCV rich fractions and removing solvent by rotary evaporation, vi) re-dissolving the crude .DELTA..sup.9 THCV prepared in step v) in methanol, removing insoluble residue by filtration and removing solvent from the filtrate by rotary evaporation, and vii) re-dissolving the crude .DELTA..sup.9 THCV prepared in step vi) in pentane, removing insoluble residue by filtration and removing solvent from the filtrate by rotary evaporation to give said crystals of .DELTA..sup.9 THCV.

This same subject was impressively covered by an experienced business person on this board who shared some thoughts concerning thinking-strategy during acquisitions, and mergers, including business alliances. Perhaps, it's time to hear from Mr. D again...
Comments from MR. D...he knows who he is...
"There are alliances between individuals from companies involved in various functions of an industry who may not merge their ~companies~, but rather, merge their resources behind closed doors.
This allows them to consolidate their efforts without having to risk capital or cause unnecessary public mis-perceptions before any major moves are completed.
Let me clarify that altho there is no public information (as of yet) on any "alliances", I was speaking in general terms. It is common practice in business to consolidate resources and efforts thru private alliances among "inner circle" execs. I do this as a matter of course in my own business dealings, as do many other CEO's.
One always sets up the appropriate chess moves before one ~mates~."
"When attempting strategic alliances, the press and the rumor mills can often work against initial efforts to line up the moves, so to speak, especially when setting up sensitive agreements and alliances. Before significant financial moves can be made to support this growing industry, the appropriate "financials" have to line up with a support criteria.
As a previous post I wrote had mentioned, "one cannot ripen an apple with a blowtorch..."
I find his thinking reassuring, considering all the loose ends flying about with so many of these emergent MMJ companies. Listening to Mr. D's comments helped me relax a bit more. I wish others well...on their way to achieving some peace of mind concerning investor demands for corporate disclosure while matters are "in-process." Thanks again, Mr. D.

Thanks for the up-date:
The patent was approved in 2003.
United States Patent 6,630,507
Hampson , et al. October 7, 2003
I recall reading an article about the KannaLife Sciences doctor who received a patent to treat one specific affliction. His name may have been Kana. I recall writing something about it too, but am unable to locate the document.
This exclusive patent right raises no major issue for CBIS...right?
Actually, this should be a positive sign since this doctor was given FDA approval to work with cannabis. Obama is on record supporting relevant MMJ research for cancer. This specific perspective should still be standing as current since it is different from selectively shutting down MMJ sales operations.

The information about the government patent concerning cannabis research was posted 16-12-11 before the period for comments had expired which begs the question....was the patent approved?
U.S. Government Licenses Patent for Medical Marijuana Thursday, December 15, 2011 U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is About to Award
Exclusive Rights to Apply Marijuana as a Medical Therapeutic
Deadline for Comment: Monday, Dec. 19
LOS ANGELES, CA – Dec. 15, 2011--The Union of Medical Marijuana Patients has just discovered that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is about to award an exclusive license to KannaLife Sciences, Inc. of New York to develop medical therapeutics based on the chemistry of cannabis. According to the notice in the Federal Register, public comments will be accepted through Monday, December 19.
"We find it hypocritical and incredible that on the one hand, the U.S. Department of Justice is persecuting medical cannabis patient associations, asserting that the federal government regards marijuana as having absolutely no medical value, despite overwhelming clinical evidence," said Union director James Shaw. "On the other hand, the Department of Health and Human Services is planning to grant patent rights with possible worldwide application to develop medicines based on cannabis."
The lady in charge should be familiar with the precise nature of the disposition by now. The article gives her contact information for interested parties...
Comments need to be submitted in writing by next Monday to Betty B. Tong, Ph.D., Senior Licensing and Patenting Manager, Office of Technology Transfer, National Institutes of Health, 6011 Executive Boulevard, Suite 325, Rockville MD 20852-3804, fax (301) 402-0220, or tongb@mail.nih.gov.
