CNEX News....>
TULSA, Okla., Apr 4, 2002 (BW HealthWire) -- Centrex, Inc. (OTCBB:CNEX) today announced that it has been invited to participate in the Biodefense Mobilization Conference to be held in Seattle, April 9-11, 2002.
The Conference is the largest bioterrorism/biodefense conference ever held in the United States. The Company will also attend the pre-conference biotechnology workshop on April 8th which will outline the profound changes being wrought by this new and rapidly growing biodefense industry.
Principle topics to be addressed at the conference include potential bioweapon agents and biodetectors, disaster preparedness, community planning, facilities hardening, mail room security, responder training, legal issues including public safety and civil liberties, communication networks with a focus on inter-agency communication, fear management featuring catastrophe reporting and the media, and academic and applied research.
"Having the knowledge of how to manage a bioterrorism catastrophe is not enough to win the war on terrorism," said Thomas R. Coughlin, Jr., MD, CEO of Centrex. "We must actively work to develop these advanced technologies into products that will become powerful weapons to mitigate the effects bioterrorism. Centrex is developing a system designed to provide early detection of bioterrorism agents, so that swift countermeasures can be taken and lives saved."
The Biodefense Conference is also a multidisciplinary forum intended to provide biodefense vendors and researchers with the opportunity to present their devices, services and innovations. Vendors with both current products and systems under development will be brought together in one place in exhibits and discussion forums that allow for thorough comparisons and the exchange of ideas.
Centrex owns the exclusive worldwide license to develop, manufacture, and market a system for detecting microbial contamination in air, food, and water. The detection system, currently in development, is designed to be adaptable and is easily tailored to detect a variety of bacterial or viral organisms by recognizing the unique DNA fingerprint of the organism. Since the September 11th attacks and the subsequent bioterrorism attacks through the U.S. mail, the Company has expanded its mission to include the development of technology for the rapid detection of potential bioterrorism agents. The organisms being considered for detection by the prototype device include all those named in the validated threat list published by the Defense Intelligence Agency, in addition to several other potential biowarfare agents. The proposed device is a simultaneous multi-channel detection system that is compact, fully automated and capable of monitoring the presence of biological agents in air, food, and water.
The Biodefense Mobilization Conference website is at www.bio-defense.org and contains not only an outline of the conference program, but multiple links on bioterrorism and biodefense. The Centrex website, listed below, also contains many useful links on bioterrorism some of which are quite technical in content and provide access to bibliographies, Internet resources, journal articles, government documents, education, and training materials on bioterrorism. The Company hopes that the availability of these links will help educate site visitors on the bioterrorism threat and provide answers to some common questions.

The little company that can!

If you’ll think back to your youth you’ll probably recall the story of the little train that could. Faced with an almost insurmountable mountain, the little train began to puff, "I think I can. I think I can. I THINK I CAN!"
As world energy prices rise and become unpredictable, the smile on the face of Marc Page gets wider and wider. Page is the newly named CEO of Hydro Environmental Resources, Inc. (HYVR on NASBB), an Oregon company that is in the business of developing a new energy producing product –– one which will eventually decrease America’s dependency upon foreign produced crude oil. Marc Page comes to Hydro Environmental with 15 years of experience in dealing with small companies and consulting to small entrepreneurs and start up firms.
If Page gets his way with Hydro Environmental Resources, the only crude oil we in the United States will use by choice will be for lubricating our engines and drive trains. Not one drop will be used for powering them. Furthermore, if things go just right for the company they will very soon be a big, cutting edge company snatching away American dollars from OPEC and other members of the oil oligopoly.
Hydro Environmental Resources has developed a Hydrogen gas generator which uses no electricity or other outside power source, but produces low pressure hydrogen gas which can be used in gas powered equipment, gasoline combustion systems, natural gas systems, diesel systems and more. Electricity, in fact, is created by the process when coupled with an electric fuel cell. Heat and distilled water are the by products.
So. What’s the catch? You just need to be able to charge the system from time to time with a cartridge and water. Any water, dirty water, potable or not . . . just plain water.
The details of the way their process works is being kept close to the chest as a patent application is being filed.
What’s so big a deal about that? you ask. For years we’ve been aware of the advantage of hydrogen as a fuel. But there are problems.
Most of the problems, however, revolve around the pressure at which Hydrogen is produced. Most experimenters have been dabbling with hydrogen which must be produced by applying heat and or electricity to the process. That makes the resultant high pressure hydrogen gas very dangerous indeed. In fact, a sudden uncontrolled explosion of a container of high pressure hydrogen gas could level a good sized area. Nevertheless, companies continue to try and figure out how to sell us high pressure gas at a per cubic foot price. They just can’t endure taking America off the Oil teat from which they profit immensely. So now they wqant to put us on a Hydrogen teat.
When one is making low pressure hydrogen gas upon demand for cooking, heating, operating an internal combustion engine, or other application, there is little potential for explosion, especially not the devastating kind that is brought to mind by past high pressure hydrogen explosions such as the Hindenburg.
Will there come a day when your energy supply needs will no longer come off a utility pole but from a suitcase sized device purchased at Sears or WalMart? It could well be coming quicker than you think. Just turn your ear west to Hydro Environmental Resources and you might hear the sound of men and women working and saying "I think we can. I think we can. I THINK WE CAN!"
