ICE CEO: Optimistic That Missing MF Global Funds Will Be Found
Dec 7, 2011 10:54:31 (ET)
By Jacob Bunge
Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES
The top executive of IntercontinentalExchange Inc. (ICE) said Wednesday he was "cautiously optimistic" that customer money gone missing from MF Global Holdings Ltd. (MFGLQ) will be found and returned to MF Global's former clients.
"Although they're seeing a hole right now, I know money is frozen all around the world, and all kinds of administrators and trustees are working on local issues," said ICE Chief Executive Jeff Sprecher, speaking at an investor event.
As investigators sift through MF Global's books and align the assets of the company's far-flung subsidiaries, Sprecher said, the shortfall in customer money is likely to shrink and could close, though he said he had no insight into the ongoing probes.
"If people get their money back and the system will turn out to have protected customer funds, which I'm cautiously hopeful will happen, we'll look back and say the system worked," said Sprecher.
The trustee supervising the wind-down of MF Global's U.S. brokerage has estimated that the missing funds could amount to as much as $1.2 billion.
Customers of MF Global and futures-market participants generally have raised grave concerns around the integrity of the business after the shortfall was disclosed, and regulators are mulling changes to the way futures brokers are overseen and customer money is handled. One option--to have derivatives clearinghouses oversee client assets, instead of brokerages--could open up a new business for companies such as ICE that run their own clearing facilities, Sprecher said.
"That would be serving the true end-user or buy-side customer directly," he said Wednesday. "To the extent that's the way the market moves, it would be a new opportunity for us."

Lowey Dannenberg Cohen & Hart, P.C. Files Class Action Suit Against MF Global Holdings, Ltd. and Its Officers, Directors and UnderwritersFont size: A | A | A
2:16 PM ET 12/5/11 | BusinessWire
Lowey Dannenberg Cohen & Hart, P.C. (http://www.lowey.com) today announced that it has filed a class action against Jon Corzine and MF Global's officers, directors and underwriters in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York on behalf of investors who purchased the publicly traded securities of MF Global Holdings Ltd. ("MF Global").
If you purchased MF Global publicly traded securities from November 5, 2009 through October 31, 2011 (the "Class Period"), including MF Global notes issued in connection with MF Global's February 11, 2011 offering of the 1.875% Convertible Senior Notes, August 2, 2011 offering of the 3.375% Convertible Senior Notes, or August 8, 2011 offering of the 6.25% Senior Notes (collectively, the "Offerings"), you may want to consider your recourse for your losses. Investors wishing to act as Lead Plaintiff in this litigation have until January 3, 2011 to file their application with the Court. If you have any questions, please contact plaintiff's counsel, Barbara Hart, Esq., of Lowey Dannenberg Cohen & Hart, P.C., at 914-997-0500, or via e-mail at bhart@lowey.com. Any member of the putative class may move the Court to serve as Lead Plaintiff through counsel of their choice, or may choose to do nothing and remain an absent class member.
MF Global was a holding company that acted as a broker in markets for commodities and listed derivatives. The complaint alleges that Jon Corzine and the other defendants issued false statements concerning MF Global's exposure to European sovereign debt, and raised $900 million in the Offerings. MF Global's securities also traded at inflated prices during the Class Period. On October 31, 2011, MF Global announced that the New York Federal Reserve had suspended the Company's designation as a primary dealer and that the Company had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The MF Global Notes issued pursuant to the Offerings are in default.
Plaintiff seeks to recover damages for violations of the Federal securities law on behalf of all purchasers of MF Global securities. The plaintiff is represented by Lowey Dannenberg, which has expertise in prosecuting investor class actions and extensive experience in actions involving financial fraud.

I wouldn't buy shares here in this one, sorry but CEO has lied in the past and u all should no what that means..Much better plays out there for a lotto tic imo
GLTUA
How many remember this?
From a few posts back....lol post 21444 is another...
in fact at the 0003 mark if it sees it which i think it will, you could realistically buy in with the money you make by selling now at 0014, pick up the 0003 shares, and it's a good chance this stock will then rally up over .001 again at which you can sell. and that will be a huge profit! you can bank nearly 400% profits. I'll probably even jump on that ship when it gets here, really i will! i'm looking forward to it.
so if you're down 60% now, like i say, just sell, take the 60% loss. buy back in at 0003, and then sell when it sees the 001+ mark again. you're going to make money that way - you do the math
Agreed, I have been accumulating and havent sold a single share here, time will tell if this was a good decision or not...
GLTUA as well!
I'm holding on waiting, fingers have been crossed here so long there hurting...need NEWS PATRICK!!!!
