Here is the link to Investor information for USAP:

Look at the presentation dated May 18, 2005. They are surcharging to cover increasing raw material costs and it is working. This is a way to protect margin regardless of increasing steel cost. They also list Boeing, GE, and Caterpillar as big customers.
Check this outlook out from last 10 Q (Can't wait for next 10 Q):
2005 Outlook
These are forward-looking statements for purposes of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995, and actual results may vary.
The Company estimates that second quarter 2005 sales will range from $40 to $45 million and that diluted EPS will range from $0.40 to $0.45. This compares with sales of $29.0 million and diluted EPS of $0.25 in the second quarter of 2004. The following factors were considered in developing these estimates:
• The Company’s total backlog at March 31, 2005 approximated $88 million compared to $72 million at December 31, 2004 reflecting continued strength of the Company’s niche markets – namely aerospace, power generation and petrochemical. However, the increase in backlog is substantially comprised of remelt steel products that will not ship until the 2005 third quarter and beyond due to remelt requirements.
• Tool steel sales are expected to remain ahead of last year as continued strength in the industrial manufacturing sector is expected to partially offset lower automotive production.
• The implementation of recent price increases will allow the Company to offset continuing manufacturing cost increases as well as support future capital improvements designed to increase production levels and efficiency.
• Sales from the Dunkirk Specialty Steel segment are expected to approximate $14 million as service center demand remains strong and the Company expects to continue to add redrawer and end user customers.
Wade - USAP You're not too late!
P/E is 8 if they make $2.00 going forward. Looks more like earnings of easy $2.50 plus in the next 12 months giving it 10 P/E and $25 per share. Boom is at P/E over 50. USAP would be $125!!!! I say it deserves at least a minimum of 20 P/E so $50 share in 2 more quarters should be in the cards. This is not a one quarter wonder.
Look at industries they sell to:
Power Generation
Aerospace
-- Commercial
-- Military
Petrochemical
Automotive/Transportation
Food Processing
Pleasure Craft
Medical
Semi-Conductor
Electronics

Hweb - USAP-Next Low Float Rocket!
Harry, I agree with everything in your post. I think the CEO is ticked off at having made such great #'s and kicking but like nobodies business and getting no respect. We are looking at minimum $2 per share earnings with sub 10 P/E and huge percentage gains baked in the cake. This is a supplier to AEROSPACE and POWER GENERATION and really HIGH TECH specification metals, NOT CHINESE SKYSCRAPERS or CRACKER BOX HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS or more RETAIL BUILDINGS and STRIP MALLS.
It is going to take time but this thing should be at $30.00 per share TODAY.
THANKS for another great find!

Any thoughts on USAP? Tempted to buy more before the Q2 report on 7/20. After watching LMIA fly this week...I don't think people are appreciating that USAP's largest market is aerospace. This niche player also serves the strong petrochemical and power generation markets. They couldn't have been more bullish on the last CC (still available on their homepage).
Yet the stock is down with the rest of the steels. Doesn't seem like much is priced in at $12.40. Book value is around $11. Q1 earnings of .45/share vs. .04/share last year. Q1 revenues up 102%.
Guided for Q2 revenues of $40-$45M vs. $29M last year. Guided for Q2 earnings of .40-.45/share vs. .25/share last year. Huge backlog of $88M, up sequentially from $72M. Q3 could be better than Q2 as last earnings PR noted backlog increase was due to products that will not ship until Q3 and beyond.
Company announced a couple of price increases in Q2 and they're also adding another remelt furnace to meet demand. The 5/7/05 PR commented that backlog to melt VAR products increased 10% in April despite running current furnaces 24-7. Should bode well for Q2 results. With its tiny float, if USAP hits their Q2 targets and give positive Q3 guidance, stock could jump back to the $15-$18 range IMO.
Hweb - USAP
I am in this one and hope you will take a minute to comment on the earnings report. NICE FIND here is your first post upon discovering it:

Anyone following USAP? Looks like a good play on the aerospace recovery. Stock seems cheap in the $12's. Q1 earnings of .45/share vs. .04/share last year. Q1 revenues up 102%.

I think USAP will surpass their Q2 estimates like they did in Q1. Even though the steel sector is weak, this company focuses on niche markets like aerospace, petrochemical, power generation, etc. Said in the earnings PR and on the CC that demand in all of their markets remains strong. Company announced a couple of price increases in Q2 and they're also adding another remelt furnace to meet demand. Bobwins bsic.ob etc.
Hello Bob,
Long time since I took a minute to thank you for sharing your estimates and ideas with the rest of the world....so THANKS AGAIN! I hold bsic and have since Len pointed out how cheap it was in the $1.15 area. I have had my finger on the trigger to sell it every time it has cleared $2.00 and can't seem to squeeze it. I can't find anything better to replace it! I have done well with DNO.OL and PAR.OL, I purchases them in Norway and hold them as a hedge against a falling dollar.
VPHM has grown to be my largest single holding and I have read the 10k/q's and can't find any reason not to continue to hold long term. I do not understand all of the technical/medical stuff nor am I really clear on the short term ramifications of the debt reduction efforts, BUT, if they make over a buck, reduce long term debt to Zero, and have a promising pipeline, AND perhaps share in the profits from a cure for the common cold, AND a current P/E of 10 based on earnings of that buck, WHY DON'T WE LOAD UP ON MORE? I am a little chicken to buy more because of the parabolic rocket and current high % of holdings, but it doesn't seem to want to re-trace????? I keep thinking it will drop and give opportunity to buy more....What do you think????
I also like MVCO.ob from Hweb, have you looked at it? They lost a ton of money on a damn dam project and now have that behind them. I expect earnings to be great and then announcement of an IPO of their Ready Mix business. Would appreciate your comments if you do check it out.
My chance encounter reading your post on the AHOM board several years ago has had a huge impact on my net worth and success investing in the stock market. I feel a great indebtedness to you and Hweb, Len, RRainman, MSGI, and other regulars for sharing so much.
Hope you enjoy the beginning of summer in Seattle! Too hot for me hear in Denver, 102 yesterday and 16 days over 90 and counting. I still hold hope for CPTC, I held all the way through "death valley" @ $.33, we shall see!

My ACTION to reduce gas consumption!
I have a fully depreciated 1995 4x4 1500 Dodge Ram extended cab pick-up with 186,000 miles on it. I was going to replace it with a new "HEMI" last year. I have decided to buy a VW Passat TDI diesel instead. I am going to burn bio diesel and get 38 mpg. I will keep the truck for the days I need the 4x4 and the utility of the truck. Here are the back of the envelope #'s that made me stop and think about what I could do to conserve $ and gas.
Truck = 14 mpg.
Passat = 38 mpg.
186,000 miles @ 14 mpg = 13,285 gallons of gas
186,000 miles at 38 mpg = 4,894 gallons of gas
NET SAVINGS = 8,390 gallons
8,390 gallons at $3.00/gallon gas is $25,170 SAVINGS
" " $4.00/gallon gas is $33,560 " "
" " $5.00/gallon gas is $41,800 " "
What do you think the average price of a gallon of gas will be over the next 10 years?
Now the good part, I am going to buy the Passat with some of the money I have made on TGA, DNO.OL, PAR.OL, and BSIC.ob!!!!

HVDC = "high-voltage direct-current"
China Power Line Deal
http://i-newswire.com/pr26714.html
What is HDVC?
The steep rise in demand for power in China’s industrial centers means that huge amounts of electricity have to be conveyed over distances of one thousand kilometers and more. HVDC transmission is the only expedient method, in terms of both technology and efficiency. Increase of HVDC line voltage is expected to increase to
+/- 800kV DC due to Chinas need for even longer lines and more bulk transmission demand. High-voltage direct-current transmission is the only technically and economically viable solution. China is the fastest growing market in the field of power transmission and distribution and will become the world’s largest single market for HVDC transmission technology over the next 20 to 30 years. Siemens PTD is a leading supplier of this technology.

Xcel wins state OK for new power lines
http://www.startribune.com/stories/535/5461575.html
Xcel Energy Inc. won approval Thursday for one of the state's largest transmission projects in several decades, an $86 million pair of power lines that will bring wind-generated energy from Buffalo Ridge in southwestern Minnesota to customers in the Twin Cities and elsewhere.
The state's Environmental Quality Board gave the go-ahead to the project, which includes an 86-mile line along Interstate Hwy. 90 between power substations in Lakefield, Minn., and Sioux Falls, S.D. Another 40-mile line will connect the Buffalo Ridge substation with a substation in Nobles County in southwestern Minnesota.
"This system was originally built to serve farms and homes, and there weren't many of them," Xcel spokesman Paul Adelmann said.
Xcel has up to 600 wind turbines along the 30-mile Buffalo Ridge. In 2003, the power company agreed to supply at least 10 percent of its energy from renewable sources. In return, the state granted Xcel an expansion of its nuclear-waste storage and an extension on the life of its Prairie Island nuclear generating plant.
The new power lines will give Xcel the ability to move 825 megawatts of power from Buffalo Ridge, enough to supply more than250,000 households.

Con Edison hit a new peak in electricity demand
NEW YORK, June 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Con Edison hit a new peak in electricity demand for the month of June as of 4:00 p.m. today by providing 11,937 megawatts in electrical power to its 3.1 million customers, breaking the previous June record of 11,875 megawatts set at 4:00 p.m. on June 26, 2003.
The Con Edison system delivers energy to approximately 9 million New York City and Westchester County residents. I think MVCO is a candidate for a big run. I posted these highlights on VM board last week:
" I sponged this one off of Hweb. He found it back in April in the $4's and I am in in the high $5's. Read Hwebs Yahoo post:

by: hweb2
Long-Term Sentiment: Buy 04/22/05 11:12 am
Msg: 1003 of 1079
Without the $5.2M loss from the Utah project, MVCO would have earned about $1/share last year. Balance sheet has almost $3/share in cash! Backlog of $93.6M, up from $70.6M. Planning to spin off Ready Mix as an IPO this quarter. Lots of buyers a few weeks ago in the $7's...now nobody wants it in the $4's??"
KEEP THIS IN MIND: 3.65 million shares outstanding, 2.18 in the float. The company lost over $5 million last year on one bad job called "Gooseberry" in Utah.
This is from CEO 30 days ago: "Key economic and demographic drivers in our core markets remain favorable as we look into the new year, enhancing our confidence that the current upward trends in the construction industry will continue. We have been increasingly discriminating in the types of projects we bid (i.e., public vs. private, location, owner, etc.) and how we bid them in order to improve the quality of our backlog. The result is that contract backlog at the beginning of 2005 is not only up 32.4% to $94 million compared to $71 million a year ago, it also is composed of projects with the potential for better margins and less downside risk.
On balance, we are pleased with our progress in 2004, and we look forward to a more profitable and enjoyable 2005."
If this company reports monster numbers for this quarter the price should rocket. Too early for it to be called the next IPII, we will have to wait for earnings for that!
I will look into the IPO status. It is supposed to happen in the next 2 weeks.
Good Luck,

Usually I would go to cash but this time I am thinking about "shorting" the market.

These are the details of the IPO coming out at any moment:
"Revenue for Ready Mix, Inc. (RMI), the Company's wholly owned construction materials subsidiary, increased to $14.0 million for the fourth quarter of 2004 and $58.7 million for the year. This compares to revenue of $11.0 million for the fourth quarter of 2003 and $44.0 million for the year. Gross margin was 12.5% for the fourth quarter of 2004 and 11.3% for the year. This compares to gross margin of 9.0% and 9.3% for comparable periods of 2003.
On February 11, 2005, Ready Mix, Inc. filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for the initial public offering of 1,000,000 shares of RMI common stock at a proposed offering price of $12.00 per share. The shares will be offered on a firm commitment basis through Wunderlich Securities, Memphis, Tenn. Subsequent to the offering, Meadow Valley will own 1,500,000 shares of RMI common stock, or 60% of the total shares of RMI outstanding. Proceeds from the initial public offering, which is expected in the second quarter of 2005, will be used by RMI for the purchase of plant and equipment, repayment of approximately $2.7 million of debt to Meadow Valley, and working capital."

Hweb, thanks for MVCO!
Thanks for finding MVCO last week Harry. I think you have uncovered yet another sleeping giant. Here's the best part $170+ million revenue with only 2 million shares in the float. LOW FLOAT MANIA HERE WE COME!
"2005 First Quarter Results
For the quarter ended March 31, 2005, revenue increased to $39.9 million from $39.2 million for the first quarter of 2004. Net income for the first quarter of 2005 was $0.25 million, or $0.06 per diluted share. This compares to net income for the first quarter of 2004 of $0.44 million, or $0.12 per diluted share, which included a pre-tax gain of $1.7 million for the settlement of a claim in New Mexico.
Construction services revenue increased to $25.9 million for the first quarter of 2005. For the first quarter of 2004, construction services revenue was $25.6 million.
Construction materials revenue increased to $14.0 million for the first quarter of 2005 from $13.6 million for the first quarter of 2004, primarily reflecting an increase in average unit sales price. Unit volume for the first quarter of 2005 declined by approximately 10% compared to the first quarter of 2004, primarily due to unusually wet weather in January and February, 2005.
Net cash provided by operating activities increased to $4.9 million for the first quarter of 2005 from $1.7 million for the first quarter of 2004.
At March 31, 2005, Meadow Valley reported cash and restricted cash of $14.4 million and shareholders' equity of $12.5 million. This compares to cash and restricted cash of $11.4 million and stockholders' equity of $12.2 million at March 31, 2004.
Backlog
Backlog in the construction services segment at March 31, 2005 increased to $81.6 million compared to $53.9 million at March 31, 2004."
