BSPM - it's your turn now. Started a goodly position high 2.70's
KNDI looks ready to bust thru $5 today.
ONP CHBT NEP DGW UTA off the top of my head. Rames might have a better list. "Fraud" might be a little strong though. How about "proven or perceived accounting issues".
Anybody have any China rare-earth stocks trading in the US?
YONG - I prefer to believe that it was Burp's chart call :^D
Rames, good ideas in general, but it's not quite that easy from a trader's standpoint. We just exited (or are in the process of exiting) a period where nobody wanted to touch a chinese microcap for fear that it was the next accounting shoe to drop. That kind of perception and resulting selloff will keep many investors/traders away. That 1-in-10 fraud is way too high a % for the overall Chinese microcap sector to remain opportunistic.
Maybe White Tiger can make a list of all the frauds (and purported frauds) in the last 3 years, and whether they were FIEs or VIEs.
re: Rodman article, I'm actually quite confused what to believe. There's certainly enough evidence of fraud in many places, and part of the image that Rodman claims the Chinese business owners are trying portray is one that's fed by success, and sometimes you need fraud to portray success. Gotta take our China Growth stocks on an individual basis, but in general I can say that I'm trying to steer clear of the VIEs, unless there's a good chart! ;^)
YONG - I"m with ya burpy.
KNDI - wow, that news seems quite special and unique. I'm in 4.50
Nice push on Friday, with modest volume. Is constructed to have a silly run one of these days, with its float and sector.
OINK - bout time. Nice breakout.
BNSO - yes I followed them for a long time, and finally gave up. Agree with your conclusion.
considering all the runs the other india plays have had (REDF, SIFY, IGC, and to some extent MTE), SMCG is a screaming laggard. I picked some up at $2.05 today, which per latest filings is over a 50% discount to NAV!
The biggest issue that SMCG has is that it's misunderstood -- it's a closed-end fund with a sizeable holding in an Indian financial institution/brokerage.
OT Rato, re: India - agree on IGC. The whole indian space has gone wild, but one of the best Indian small caps that nobody knows about and has NOT participated in the run is SMCG. I think traders/investors must still think of it as a SPAC since their Yahoo Profile isn't entirely update, but really they're the one direct play on Indian banking/brokerage.
LPH - nice seeking alpha article today. I bought a few 2.1's
CNIT looks pretty good on a swing basis; seems to be lagging GFRE on same flavor news
NEP - I pulled some in for a swing. Excellent news imo.
CSGH - lithium contract
DALIAN, China, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/-- China Sun Group High-Tech Co. (OTC Bulletin Board:CSGH.ob - News) ("China Sun Group" or the "Company"), a vertically integrated supplier of raw materials for rechargeable Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries in China, today announced that it has signed an agreement to supply Huanyu Power Source Co., Ltd. ("Huanyu") with a minimum of 40 tons of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LIP) by the end of calendar year 2010.
The other India plays are showing good strength; seems like IGC would be a no-brainer to join in.
Wade, it's a matter of investors questioning what a "good" China stock is. The frauds are being marched out on a regular basis, UTA being today's "lemon".
Seems to me that the only winners in the space will be ones with big-4 accounting firms, and/or attack the accounting issues like CGA.
Nice sized bidder the past couple days. Would love to see it push thru the 4.50 area
The buyer doesn't seem to have any problem hitting the ask
OINK - it's nothing to snort about yet, but it's getting a nice move on above avg volume
XING - took some today as their results are improving and outlook is bullish
CAGC/CGA/YONG - any idea why continued weakness in the China Ag/Fert sector? These have been pummeled lately. Chinese eating less?
YONG - compelling article on Fool
http://www.fool.com/investing/international/2010/08/31/yongye-is-a-rocket-stock.aspx
Accumulating more shares in the low $3.80s. In no hurry, and don't want too big of a position yet
OINK - pulled in a bit more in the low 3.80's; I'll be eating some Kahlua Pig today, so the purchase seemed appropriate.
UTA IDI NEP; Just about any China with accounting irregularities is getting taken to the woodshed these days. Unfortunately we're getting more and more of these, although on a percentage basis of the China universe of stocks we may not be getting more. You can see how forward EPS estimates are meaning less and less to institutions because they frankly don't believe the management. With earnings season about over, I'm reassessing whether we have enough impetus to head higher, even with the good earnings that the China smallcaps have had.
OINK - resumed purchases of this squealer in the 3.95 area. Looking for more YONG sub-$8 as well
YONG: Jo - that's why I picked up the YONGer. Seems to be lagging the others substantially. Not ready to dive into the OTC dung-runners yet, but that day will come.
CREG appears ready to launch higher on its news today
SKBI some nice action on beating EPS, a bit light on revs. Starting to look awfully cheap all over again.
CNAM gap-down...anybody seeing anything? No position but curious.
Some good price action today on modest volume. Bid sizes look good so far.
2morrow, re: OINK - with the likes of BORN continuing its romp in the ag space, OINK can't be far behind.
vike/bob, re: OINK - I think you guys are missing two important points: 1) the growth rate is off the charts; likely unsustainable, but it needs to be considered. 2) compared to its direct peer HOGS (admittedly much larger), HOGS trades at 10 PE at a very modest growth rate.
So the argument could certainly be made for OINK to trade at or above HOGS' PE, considering OINK's growth rate....let's hope it narrows the valuation gap.
Bob, re: OINK - I assume you mean it's more like a $6-$8 stock
Rato, re: HQS. You are right. I originally replied to your post thinking that HQS really had a neat niche...and I still think they do, but your whole reasoning for icky shareholder appreciation is spot-on. I might actually buy this junk in the 2.50 range if it gets there, but it would be just a trade, nothing more.
tiger, re: OINK - I like what geoinvesting said about the make-good; very shareholder friendly and unique.
