Euromax closes option deal with Freeport McMoran
2007-07-13 02:51 MT - News Release
Mr. John Menzies reports
EUROMAX CLOSES PROPERTY ACQUISITIONS IN MACEDONIA AND SERBIA
Euromax Resources Ltd. has closed the options to acquire four exploration properties in Macedonia and five exploration properties in Serbia from Freeport McMoran Inc. subsidiary Phelps Dodge Exploration Corp. (PDX) and its Macedonian and Serbian subsidiaries. Under the terms of the agreement, Euromax has an option to acquire a 100-per-cent interest in the Macedonian properties by the payment to PDX of $600,000 (U.S.) and the issuance of 100,000 Euromax shares and an option to acquire 100 per cent of the shares of Mining and Geology South Danube Metals Beograd South (SDM), a PDX Serbian subsidiary, subject to exclusion of one of the SDM licences, by the issuance of 2.4 million shares of Euromax. In order to exercise the options, Euromax must fulfill all concession requirements, fulfill a certain minimum volume of drilling and complete a $1.5-million (U.S.) exploration program in each of Macedonia and Serbia over three years. PDX retains a one-time only back-in right on each concession, whereby PDX may elect to earn a 70-per-cent interest, after Euromax has completed 10,000 metres on any such property. In order to earn its interest, PDX must repay Euromax twice its exploration expenditure on that property and finance the property though completion of a final feasibility study.
Euromax is commencing an exploration program in each of Macedonia and Serbia. In Macedonia, the initial program includes 1,500 metres of diamond drilling at Ilovista and 1,000 metres of reverse circulation drilling and 1,000 metres of trenching at Kazandol. At Ilovitza, a large copper-gold-bearing quartz stockwork variably exposed over an area of 800 by 400 metres and has been traced to a depth of 500 metres. PDX drilled seven diamond drill holes at Ilovitza, five of which intersected mineralized porphyry. The mineralized stockwork is centred on a dacite porphyry stock central to a 1.3-kilometre diameter volcanic diatreme. The stock is pervasively altered and stockworked at surface. Included in this drilling was an intersection of 363 metres grading 0.25 per cent copper and 0.36 gram per tonne gold.
In Serbia, the initial program includes 900 metres of diamond drilling at Rudnitza and 800 metres of diamond drilling at Ceovishte. The Rudnitza copper-gold porphyry prospect consists of a large quartz vein stockwork zone outcropping over an area of 400 metre by 300 metres. The quartz stockwork, with vein density greater than 30 veins per metre, is developed within a quartz-magnetite alteration zone with biotite at depth. This is surrounded by larger argillic and advanced argillic alteration zones. PDX drilled seven holes at Rudnitza. Included in the drilling was an intersection of 144 metres grading 0.4 per cent copper and 0.37 gram per tonne gold in a 244-metre drill hole which graded 0.28 per cent copper and 0.37 gram per tonne gold over the complete length of the drill hole.
Euromax also announces that it has granted 195,000 stock options to directors and employees. The stock options have an exercise price of 72 cents and a five-year term. All of the work reported herein was undertaken by PDX. Samples were assayed at Eurotest Control AD and American Assay Laboratories, Nev., both ISO 9001-accredited laboratories. The company understands that PDX used industry standard quality-control procedures and believes these results to be reliable. John Menzies, a qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101, supervised the preparation of the information in this release.

Smells fishy... Outlook gets busy refurbishing Arctic char farm
2007-07-12 09:11 MT - News Release
Mr. John Bottomley reports
OUTLOOK RESOURCES INC.: CORPORATE UPDATE
Outlook Resources Inc., following the final closing of the brokered and non-brokered financings reported in Stockwatch June 29 and July 11, 2007, has now begun the process of refurbishing its aquaculture production facility at its Arctic char farm in Gunton, Man.
Specialized biofiltration and water treatment equipment to allow for increased capacity is now on order from the manufacturers and is expected to arrive on site within the next 10 to 12 weeks. Modifications and refurbishing of the existing infrastructure is under way in the interim. Additionally, the grow-out farm being constructed at Dugald, Man., is also nearing completion at the time of this writing and is expected to begin receiving its first fingerlings from Agassiz aqua farms in early August.
Once the modifications are completed in two to three months and after giving time to grow the existing fingerling inventory to market size (six to eight months) the combined yearly production of the two farms will be approximately 150 metric tonnes of antibiotic free Arctic char yielding approximately 90 metric tonnes of fresh, filleted product on an annual basis.
Through the existing distribution channels the company has already established, combined annual sales will generate revenues in the region of $1.3-million dollars with roughly one-third ($357,000) of the total being paid to the grow-out farm operators.
Discussions are now under way with other potential grow-out farm operators and the company is also looking into expanding its brand offering to include yellow perch and an organic trout.

Wind power industry
Harvest has an agreement with Deta to manufacture approximately 200 million renminbi ($28.1-million (Canadian)) worth of wind power products, including turbines, blades and towers, and an expression of intent for the placing of additional orders with Harvest for wind power products in the amount of 600 million renminbi ($84.4-million (Canadian)) in 2008 and 900 million renminbi ($126.6-million (Canadian)) in 2009, subject to satisfactory completion by Harvest of the 2007 order. For details on the terms of the agreement, please see the company's news in Stockwatch dated June 1, 2007.
According to a report by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), a wind power industry association, in 2006 approximately $23-billion (U.S.) of new wind power generation equipment was installed throughout the world, representing a 25-per-cent increase in global wind power capacity to more than 74 gigawatts. The GWEC report estimated that in 2006, China's wind power capacity grew by more than 100 per cent, or 1,347 megawatts, to 2,604 megawatts. In February, 2005, China published a renewable energy law, that came into force on Jan. 1, 2006, under which national targets for renewable energy were established, to be supported by various measures, including subsidies, cost sharing and requirements that provincial power grids purchase certain amounts of renewable energy. Recently, the Chinese government proposed a target of 30 gigawatts of wind power generation by 2020. Inner Mongolia, including the Durbert Mongolia autonomous county, where the equipment Harvest is producing will be installed, is forecasted to host about 33 per cent or 10,000 megawatts of China's wind capacity by 2020.

Seashore mallow seen as biodiesel source
By RANDALL CHASE, Associated Press Writer
Tue Jul 10, 5:15 PM ET
John Gallagher pinches a pod from the long-stemmed plant in the greenhouse next to his office, cracks it open and pops the BB-sized seeds into his mouth.
"They're not going to compete with peanuts, but they're good," said Gallagher, a University of Delaware researcher studying the plant, which is native to salt marshes stretching from the Gulf of Mexico to the mid-Atlantic coast.
While the seashore mallow might be handy for a quick snack, the sturdy plant has provided Gallagher food for thought in addressing a smorgasbord of environmental problems, from global warming to the disappearance of coastal farmland.
Gallagher, a marine biosciences professor, says the seeds are a promising source of biodiesel, with an oil composition similar to that of soybeans and cottonseed.
Unlike soybeans and corn, which require annual plantings to feed the growing appetite for biofuels, the pink-flowered seashore mallow is both a perennial and a halophyte, or salt-tolerant plant, that grows in areas where other crops can't.
"You don't have to divert land that is presently used for producing food and feed to the process of making biodiesel," said Gallagher, who runs the university's Halophyte Biotechnology Center with his wife and fellow researcher, Denise Seliskar.
With the threat of sea water encroaching on farmland and coastal aquifers because of global warming, Gallagher believes the seashore mallow could help preserve the economic value of arable land transitioning to marshland.
The meal left over after oil is extracted from mallow seeds has enough protein to be used for animal feed, while the stems have potential for use in cellulosic ethanol, Gallagher said. The roots of the plant could be used to make industrial gum.
"It's almost like the pig of the vegetable world; you can use everything but the squeal," Gallagher said, noting that the roots sequester carbon from the atmosphere, making the plant a carbon-neutral source of energy.
Dan Soeder, a U.S. Geological Survey hydrologist studying saltwater intrusion in coastal areas, is among those intrigued by Gallagher's research on the mallow as biofuel.
"I don't know if it's going to be the cure for all evils, but it certainly fills a niche," Soeder said. "It's a biofuel crop that you're growing without tying up agricultural land."
While more than 20 countries are involved in saltwater agriculture projects for food crops, the idea of using halophytes as biomass for fuel is a recent development, said Dennis Bushnell, chief scientist at NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va.
"This is a revolution for agriculture as well as for energy," said Bushnell, who has been advocating the use of halophytes as fuel sources for more than a decade but has been unable to generate much interest among federal agencies.
According to Bushnell, some 250 halophytes are potential food staple crops, while thousands more might be available as fuel biomass.
Gallagher and Seliskar are tending a 2 1/2-acre plot of seashore mallow planted last year at the edge of a farm in Sussex County. While that crop is planted on conventional farmland, plans are in the works for an experimental plot in saline soil elsewhere.
Seed yield would need to be improved before the mallow can be commercialized for biodiesel purposes, but Gallagher and his colleagues say selective breeding, tissue culturing and genetic engineering could improve the crop potential of the plant.

In Hong Kong, the overall market is set for gains of another 10% this year amid earnings growth of 17%-20%, thanks to China’s hot economy, Khiem Do of Baring Asset Management told Barron’s. Attractive H-shares or Hong Kong-based China plays include coal producer China Shenhua Energy (1088, HKD24.90), and Sinofert (297, HKD5), a leader in the domestic fertiliser market, whose market share is expanding, reckons Jing Ulrich of JP Morgan Chase.
