Bob - BWLRF will be my "Freeze" play in the pick 6.
TGB and BWLRF were among the most hated stocks in the metal world as recently as 3-4 weeks ago. That sentiment is changing in a hurry. Check out the laggard zinc charts at kitco:
http://www.kitcometals.com/charts/zinc_historical.html
I am close to the zinc market and I see no quick fix to supply/demand picture, nothing short of global economic melt down will turn prices around in the short term.
Hope your Canuckers treat us well aye!

TGB Best/Worst
Arnie,
I jumped all over TGB at a buck. Best move I made of late!
I had it all set for the Pick 6 #2 and it is up 55%. Oh well, I may lose the contest, but I still feel like I'm winning the Lotto!
The other one is BWLRF, up 89% on that one in real account, still may put it in contest as I see a buck for it soon.
Good Luck!

TRMA Forward P/E 5-6 2006 pps $60 is possible.
TRMAZ warrant has $25/share strike on 3/15/08. TRMA stock is currently trading at $30 and warrant at $8.35 so stock could be a double but warrant near 4 bagger. We shall see. I am betting new management will "Rock the Boat"!

TRMA and TRMAZ Big Move on Volume. Apish brought this one to the board on Nov 7 I believe. I was buying the Warrant TRMAZ (3/15/08 $25/Strike) on weakness in high $4's low 5's and now have around 80% gain. Anyone else buy this one and have comments. I think they could explode higher due to backlog and pricing power. Also pouring money into new ships and upgrading fleet. SEEMS LIKE NEWS MAY BE LEAKING????

DNO is one of my largest holdings for all of the reasons spelled out in the presentation. Additional reasons for holding are the strength of the NOK, here is a link to the Norges Bank and everything you ever wanted to know about the NOK and Norwegian monetary policy:

Political reason for owning: Have you ever seen anyone burn a Norwegian flag and cry "Death to Norway!"??? Me neither!
Many think it is too late to be in DNO but I think it may deserve a harder look. The next big quarterly presentation is Feb. 15th and I am looking for a big pop on recent drilling reports. Basement oil is a new term I have learned from DNO and you will be hearing more about it.

Don't understand big selloff on MVCO. Stock was approaching $6 yesterday morning (where I thought it was undervalued). Now at $4.50 on no news??
Without the $5.2M loss from a project in Utah (which will not recur in 2005), they would have earned about $1/share last year. Balance sheet has almost $3/share in cash. Backlog of $93.6M, up from $70.6M. P/E could be less than 2 this year net cash?
I hope someone can find the terrible news I'm apparently missing.
Harry, as usual, you didn't miss a thing!!!!
Thanks!

Anyone still following MVCO? They had a good Q4 earnings report, but the earnings were mostly from other income. The kicker here is they recognized losses of $1.5M in Q4 and $5.2M for the year from a single project in Utah. There should be no more losses from that project, which could cause a big jump in EPS this year.
Yearend backlog of $93.6M, up from $70.6M last year. Solid balance sheet with nearly $3/share in cash. Low float. They also filed to spin off their Ready Mix division as an IPO. Stock shot up to $7.74 recently, but is now back to the $5.60's. I bought some and will accumulate on weakness (easy to do these days!).
Hweb - Thanks for TGIS! BOOM!

Researcher - MVCO
I have been in MVCO since early summer. I am going to have a hard time controlling the itch in my trigger finger on the sell button. I'm going to let the price catch up to the stock and then take some profits. I think higher interest rates and the possibility of less government spending may take a toll on construction. When you get 300, 400, 500+ % gains it's hard to resist taking profits.
Have you ever watched big profits slip away by falling in love with a winner?

Hweb - RUSHA - Remember the delayed reaction days when a stock would open flat then rocket 2 or 3 points on this kind of report. I was even betting on the Hweb effect, your mention was worth an easy 10%. I think RUSH will cash in on the mid-sized heavy trucks as companies and utilities decide they can get by with more fuel efficient smaller trucks. Should also be demand for the re-building of the Southeastern US. We shall see.

Broke!
Apish - Do you think the 80 day may be broken this time due to the factors Len has articulated in recent posts. Interest rate pressure on home builders/byers/speculators, energy costs sapping consumers, deficit spending out of control, inflation (reporting numbers "ex food and energy" should be a criminal act), bird flu probability, natural disasters, Iraq, and so on.
I have a hard time thinking up a scenario that doesn't have a near term sharp decline in stock market indexes.
I know you are in a group of very sharp investors, will you share some of your groups observations with us?
Thanks in advance.

OT - 6% increase in cardboard price coming.
In my real world job I buy cardboard boxes that hold 2 2.5 gallon jugs of liquid fertilizer (Zn, Fe, Mn). I emailed my Smurfit-Stone sales rep. and asked for current box pricing because I am working on bids. Here is the exact quote from his email:
"There are announcements made in September by all the major paper mills that paper will be increasing $30/ton in November. This equates to 6% if that happens.Let me know if you need me to fax you pricing. Thanks,Dave"
The jug price has gone from $.965 to $1.28 each!
We also use natural gas to spray dry and granulate liquid zinc sulfate to produce powder and granular product. Compared to last year our gas cost is up 65%, sulfuric acid is double due to long term contract expiring, and freight was up 30%. I have had to increase finished product prices 4 times and the total increase is about 35% over last year.
Now you guys tell me how the CPI core is up .1% Ex food and energy. What will a 6% increase in all paper cause prices to do? No wonder the size of the Wall Street Journal is going to shrink!
Anyway, from where I sit, I just don't see how we can have a robust, rosy, spend like there is no tomorrow winter.
I also read this article on credit card debt, holy smokes!
http://www.fool.com/news/commentary/2005/commentary05101311.htm?ref=foolwatch
I will ask my Smurfit-Stone rep to email me the paper price increase announcement if possible.
How can we just discount food and energy? Seems like sticking your head in the sand to me.
Sorry for getting off topic.

Dear Mr. Sporns.
I am an individual investor that concentrates on microcap companies, and have invested in the stock of HQ Sustainable Maritime. I read the attached press release on September 6th. I have a very influential friend that lives in Seattle and is interested in visiting your new offices and helping a large group of individual investors understand your business. Would you please furnish the phone number and address of the new office and perhaps the name of someone that could meet with my friend. I will forward the information to him and let him schedule the appointment himself.
Thanks in Advance!

SEATTLE, WA--(MARKET WIRE)--Sep 6, 2005 -- HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries, Inc. (HQ) a Delaware corporation engaged in integrated aquaculture and aquatic product processing, announced today that it has approved the expansion of the functions of its International Sales and new corporate offices in Seattle.
In addition to its International sales staff as well as the North American based senior management, the Company will diversify its sales strategy allowing the sale to retailers and service industry outlets of boxes of its products as opposed to the shipment of containers of products as is currently the case. Management believes that this higher margin business will add at least 15% profitability to its current sales. The Offices in Seattle will serve as well to import other seafood products so as to provide to its US clientele a more complete range of products.
Said Norbert Sporns, CEO of HQSM, "The new HQSM offices in Seattle will further vertically integrate our sales allowing our message to go more directly to important ultimate consumers of our products who do not currently accept delivery of container loads of products. This will play hand-in-hand with new branding and market education initiatives which will be announced shortly."
Len, Bobwins I have a gasoline theory?
I think the gasoline numbers got twisted around after Rita!
Here goes:
After Katrina gas prices spiked big time. When the press said Rita was going to take out all of the refineries as a cat 4 or 5 consumers went to the gas station and filled up all of their vehicles, and in some case spare cans. (I confess I did). On top of that every gas station from TX gulf to Mobile was sucked dry. In the past 2 weeks all of that gas was either burned and people had to fill up, and gas stations filled up. This would cause low consumption right after Rita followed by increased demand now.
How many cars are on the road every day, 125 million? 125 million times an extra 5 gallons is 625 million gallons. 10 gallons is 1.25 billion total!
Just a thought.
