I read someone's best guess about the next month or two and thought it made pretty good sense.

In the past, tax selling extended into the holidays as most investors plan to abandon parts of their holdings all together, or get back in for the lows of January/February. This year most investors have already taken all the tax losses they can stomach, and really don't need any more. So, savvy investors are looking to get back in at current lows and certainly in the coming weeks to take advantage of an early Santa effect and end of year rally as short covering sets in. Here you need to think manic/depressive as we have seen for almost a year now. Early January selling on "more bad news" will be followed by the Obama rally that will set in with high expectations that can't be attained in the first 100 days. Ooops, look for a May peak on a last wave of exhuberant buying and then the summer slide. The first changes in policy won't really set in until after the first quarter of the fiscal year. The real story of whether or not the Obama policies will work will unfold next fall.
Of course these dates aren't set in stone, especially after the first of the year, but from what I can gather we will follow that pattern fairly closely and roughly within that time frame, give or take a week or two.
I've read that story a number of times before and each time it cuts me right to the heart (aka tears).
I've had the same experience with Genesis 22. If you're not familiar with it, give it a read before bed.
Randy
Lebed has been pumping the heck out of the stock...but most of what he points out seems on track. Cash and future development could make all the difference.
Randy
Thanks O2....thas was pretty fun to read....I just copied it and sent it to my kids. :)
Randy
tenac, Yeah...I think you pretty well answered your own question.
However, perhaps a couple thoughts might help. It is clear that the Holy Spirit was always present and always working. Think of Genesis 1:2 and the spirit of God was on the face of the deep....Or with Samson who was empowered by the Spirit with great strength.
Perhaps the most telling OT verse about the Spirit and inspiration is found in II Samuel 23:2, David says of himself, "The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me, His words were on my tongue."
As for the New Testament in John 7:37ff
"On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified."
So, there's a sense in which the Spirit was not yet given...until after Pentecost (Acts 2), in terms of his fullness and continued presence, and another sense in which he has always been the One who works in our hearts and accomplishes God's will within.
If you want to think of it visually, I think the principle shift if you will is that while the "Presence" of God, the glory cloud, at one point inhabited the tabernacle and temple....it has now come to indwell believers and especially the assembly of God's people in worship....hence the visible sign of tongues of fire coming and resting upon the church in Jerusalem...and subsequenting on Cornelius' household (gentile believers) in Acts 10. ().
This indwelling is also the presumption of I Peter 2:8ff where we are called living stones being built into a spiritual house (where God dwells).
This good stuff to think about. Certainly some mysteries...but clearly realities. I think this is part fo the reason we all have to continue seeking the fellowship of our brethren for worship.
I've been reading some children's stories of the French Hugonauts in the 1700's. Their faith and perseverance were simply amazing.

Randy
Too Funny. I might just be kidding myself...but if I play my cards right, I just might qualify for a bailout. I'll let you know if I hear anything back.
RK
Hey PL, I think I saw these same verses arranged in the shape of a bell....
Let me see if it works...Yep...it does....
copy and paste into Word....you might have to page set your margins just a little wider (or shrink you font)....but it will be a bell once again.
Best regards all. May the Lord bless and keep you and yours.
Randy
Yeah...and so far not too much bickering. :)
Oh that's right...it's a prayer board.
Randy
For anyone with available capital....(unfortunately not me)...I thought the post MikeS put on his swing trade board is with a keep (for future reference). It's like a best of post for the due diligance from Mike and Rawnoc. Enjoy.

Why Mumbai, India?

Dear RK,
What makes a terrorist choose one target over another
when planning to machine gun and grenade attack
innocent people in a crowded public place?
Is the target selection based on some perceived
geopolitical transgressions against the terrorists'
demented cause? The terrorist would like the world to
think so, but if that was the case, why didn't the
latest attack happen in a place like Israel? Why
Mumbai, India?
Here is a letter I received from someone who knows the
real reason why terrorists would strike Mumbai, India
over Tel Aviv, Israel or even Houston, Texas.
You won't see this talked about on the evening news...

Haiwaiiguy...thanks for all the great links.
Westefer put me onto some pretty good Peak Oil stuff...
Are you familiar with him?

Brent and Bre....
I've not looked too closely...but don't put too much weight on the acquisitions you're reading about here. The phrase (not open market) means the shares are freebies or received as compensation for serving on the board or directors.
Randy
Me either....this isn't actually my car....but I have the same bumper stocker on mine.
Randy
Me either....
Week 13 I'll take Tennessee.
I received an email over the weekend from Manny Tecson <supermannytecson@greengoldenergies.com>. I had signed the guest book on their website quite a while ago and just now received a reply....as I think about it....this might be a second reply.
I'm not sure exactly what he was trying to say...but thought you all would be mildly interested to read it.
Regards,
Randy
Hi Randy,
Thank you very much for checking out the company that we have, it's our pleasure to have you, background and knew our group in saving this ailing planet and make profit.
thank you very much!

I'm sure you've heard the news about Citibank being bailed out....
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081124/ap_on_bi_ge/citigroup
Fromy my perspective it is hard to say whether it will be enough or whether this will be good money after bad....with more needed down the road.
RK
Wow. Pretty scary scenario. The numbers are almost beyond comprehension.
Regards,
I didn't do as well. I got average.
Grrr.... Some of the questions I got wrong I should have gotten right.
Randy
eelfland...
Are you still around. If I recall you had posted quite a while ago that you were going to be out of pocket for a while.
If you read this, do you have any insights or expections for the current market?
Hope every is going OK with you.
Randy
Funny.
You must be a little older than me. I didn't recognize some of those.
RK
I guess you're kind of on a roll today Mick. Bunch of amazing information out there.....
Unfortunately, nobody seems to care.
Randy
I'll second that Wyatt. Even hoping for the best isn't so easy in times like these.
Hopefully, it'll be a wake-up call for the masses.
Randy
Hey Brent and others....isn't it just a little out of character to do this shareholder update via a press release. If memory serves most of the updates we've seen in the past...or was it the QA Forum....was just done on the website.
Maybe I should rephrase my statement into a question. Are shareholder updates via press releases normal for MDMN?
Randy
Hey Joe, am I interpreting the price of the TZA's that the market is expecting lots more pain.
While the markets have hovered around even to even slight up....it has continued appreciating. Might be putting to TNA's a bit at risk....though the movements are not as spectacular do to the lower price.
Randy
I don't have time to read all that. Can't you give us a summary....a Cliff's Notes or something. :)
Randy
Only from an unbelieving and evolutionary standpoint.
The irony is that you can't even see your bias. :)
Randy
Yeah....I had the same experience. At one point I thought I owned around 3 percent of the company. It ended up first that it was 1 percent and then .01 and now who knows. :)
Randy
lowman....I also used TDA and noticed that their Level 2 was wierd today. I wasn't actively trading anything so didn't have anything immediate to gain or loose. However, I've never seen my Level 2 screens black out.
In a way I hope you're right about the gap up tomorrow... perhaps it will be Market-wide. Who knows? However, I remember reading about the big bear market declines in 1929-'30 that most people through the bottoms were being reached long before the real bottom was even close.
I'm going to remain skeptical until I see a viable reason for the market turning a corner.
All the Best.
Randy
Yeah, yeah.....the only problem in irreducable complexity. You can't evolve something that is irreducably complex. Take for instance the way that wounds heal...the clotting sequence couldn't have happened by chance. If even one element of the whole wasn't there or wasn't working the first one cut would simply have bled out....According to your theory back the whole evolutionary clock back and start over. Silly.
MSC290, I hope you take this article to heart and begin attending a gospel preaching church from now on.
My criteria for a sound church.
1. You should be reminded that you're a sinner who needs forgiveness...that if you get what you deserve from God you go to hell for all eternity. We are all spiritual dead in sin.
2. You should be pointed to, invited to trust in the only Savior Jesus Christ. We are saved by faith along through grace alone.
And 3. You should be challenged to live according to your new nature...that is in obedience to the will of God. God saved us so we would do good works...we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works.
There will probably be some preferences for various styles of worship and singing...but these three elements are indispensable--essential.

Randy

Brent,
The way I look at a lot of these experiences is they all add to further one's education. The school of hard knocks can be a pretty severe teacher....but often teaches lessons we wouldn't learn any other way.
Also wishing everyone the best.
