Chowderhead-You're not stupid, it just looks apparently like this person you are responding to here strangely and mistakenly thinks that there are people here that pay any attention to what they say. That's the message to pass along to the poster, not to argue with them. They try to make you feel stupid, that's what they do. They just don't get the point that no one listens or cares anything about what they have to say.
Bustario-Thanks for your report today. We appreciate it. Good Luck.

Milplease-I agree. This appears to be an Odyssey clone, branded by Gateway. I think there is another player all together that is redesigned, smaller, sleeker as they have said. I think that particular player, whomever the branded company is, is the one that is being made by a major Asian OEM. Imo, this Gateway is something extra. All, jmo.

I would wait till the volume hits 10 million shares before it means a lot to me. We need the outsiders to come in. If we get into the thick of things, it will happen.
As far as I know Nobucks, it was 33 1/3 which is rpm's, 33 1/3 revolutions per minute. That's what I always thought. If it says 33, it is probably 33 1/3.
They were, you just weren't listening.
Niz, thanks for the post.

IFE-DigEplayer mention.
Hot Topic: IFE & Connectivity Big At Orlando NBAA Show
With slumping commercial airplane markets, IFE and connectivity vendors flocked to the National Business Aircraft Association annual show in Orlando this past October. Folks who pooh-poohed bizjet opportunities in the past have obviously taken a closer look at the size and budgets of business jets and decided that they can provide value to these fleets. While Rockwell Collins and Honeywell, usual suspects at the NBAA, offered new and innovative solutions to inflight entertainment systems, the Cedar Rapids company announced a hookup with broadband and launched a deal with Connexion by Boeing. New and bizjet IFE offerings were displayed by the following; Thales, Matsushita, TEAC, DigEplayer, and Lufthansa Technik to name a few. The Lufthansa solution featured optional Wi-Fi LAN connectivity and, gets this, an Ethernet-based network, complete with hardware from Cisco Systems. In fact, we contacted Cisco systems about their foray into IFE and they refused to comment…as did Lufthansa. You may want to watch these two players? Why the business jet world for IFE veterans? Honeywell notes that the business jet fleet will grow at 4% per year, averaged over the next 10 years. A period of “slow but sustained” growth is expected to begin in 2005. Not withstanding, the existing fleets have limited IFE and connectivity which may make an interesting retrofit program as well. Corporate charter and fractional ownership seems to be growth markets according to the sources we talked with. As might be expected, new business jet deliveries peaked in 2001 with some 769 planes. However, 125 commercial transport aircraft configured as business jets are expected to deliver in the next 10 years, not to mention the 2250 medium and large bizjets in the same time period. Honeywell sees a whopping 8000 ultra light jets to be added to the fleet in that period as well. Executive jet owners demand state-of-the-art solutions and connectivity is becoming as necessary as radios. Thus, satcom solutions such as Swift 64, the Inmarsat-based, global data offering, has penetrated the corporate market far better that in commercial airliner but higher speed demands will drive Iridium, Swift 64 and Ku-Band solutions. Slim IFE pickings in the airline world this past year have forced vendors to seek other markets and many at the NBAA admitted as much. Soon perhaps, we may even see efforts directed toward ships and trains!

GDP surges 7.2%, fastest in 19 years
By Rex Nutting, CBS.MarketWatch.com
Last Update: 8:40 AM ET Oct. 30, 2003
WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- Powered by tax cuts and low interest rates, the U.S. economy expanded at a 7.2 percent annual rate in the third quarter, the fastest growth in more than 19 years, the Commerce Department said Thursday.
The first estimate of real gross domestic product was considerably stronger than the 6 percent consensus forecast. The economy grew 3.3 percent in the second quarter.
The growth rate is a testament to the power of monetary and fiscal stimulus to boost final demand. Final sales of domestic product grew 7.8 percent, the best in 25 years. Real disposable income increased 7.2 percent. John Maynard Keynes would be proud of his disciples, Alan Greenspan and George W. Bush.
Real GDP is adjusted for price charges. In current dollars, nominal GDP increased 9 percent to $11.04 trillion.
Growth was balanced in the quarter, with strong contributions from consumers and businesses, spending and investment. Government spending and net exports also added to growth. The only negative forces were inventory accumulation and investments in business structures.
Fiscal and monetary stimulus peaked in the quarter. Tax rebate checks and lower tax withholding increased disposable incomes, while 40-low interest rates reduced borrowing costs and fueled cash-out refinancings, healthy increases in auto sales and record home sales.
The question now is how sustainable the growth is. Will job growth resume to give consumers more income to replace the boost from tax cuts and mortgage refinancings? Will capital spending keep expanding at a rapid rate? Will higher interest rates choke off the recovery? Will the weakening dollar reduce the large current account deficit and bring more production back to the United States?
Consumer spending surged ahead 6.6 percent, the best in more than five years. Led by strong auto sales, purchases of durable goods rose 26.9 percent, the best in 15 years. Spending on non-durable goods rose 7.9 percent, the best in 27 years. Spending on services increased 2.2 percent.
Consumers also increased their investments in residences by 20.4 percent, thanks to record low mortgage rates during the summer months that boosted housing starts by more than 30 percent.
Businesses did their part, as well. Investments in equipment and software rose 15.4 percent, the biggest swing in capital spending since the first quarter of 2000. It's the fifth increase in capital spending in the past six quarters following six straight quarters of declines.
Investments in business structures fell 2.4 percent, the seventh decline in the past eight quarters. In all, nonresidential investment rose 11.1 percent.
Businesses remain cautious, however. Inventories were reduced by $35.8 billion, subtracting about 0.7 percentage points from growth. Once businesses decide to replenish their stocks, production and employment should rise, economists say.
The nation continued to run a large trade deficit with foreign economies. But the gap shrank in the third quarter, so net exports added about 0.8 percentage points to growth. Exports rose 9.3 percent while imports increased 0.1 percent.
Government spending increased 1.3 percent, with equal contributions from the federal government and state and local governments. Defense spending was flat.
Inflation accelerated slightly during the quarter. The gross domestic purchases index rose at a 1.9 percent annual rate after rising 0.4 percent in the second. Energy prices accounted for much of the increase, but even the core rate accelerated to 1.5 percent from 0.8 percent. The personal consumption expenditure index rose 2.4 percent with the core PCE index up 1.8 percent.

Another well known name in the infotainment industry-gratis D.inkie.
Q- Has Fijutsu 10 expressed interest in our IFE device for automotive applications?
While Eclipse by Fijutsu 10 has experessed interest in this platform we are also looking at numerous other companies that are looking for audio/video solutions for the home and automotive environment.
In fact we are also working with another well known name in the automotive infotainment industry on this type of particular device.
MicroOS core Q & A from webcast, gratis D.inke.
Q- Among the opportunities we are working on is the licensing of our MicroOs core. Please define what is meant by the use of the word “Core”?
The MicroOs core is highly flexible software that enables the integration of audio, video, and soon wireless applications into multiple platforms and technologies.
Basically its strength also is to take the different technologies out there and the different applications of those technologies and turn them into a customized product that can be differentiated from in many cases competitors out there in the market place. So that is where our core is.
So that is where our core is. Many of you have heard us talk about this for the last 3 1/2 years to 4 years At this point with content evolving slowly but getting there , and certainly wireless applications coming on strong , video becoming more and more important out there we believe that our technologies have a very, very bright future and hence also the people looking at our core technology (MicroOs) the inquiries have picked up and the opportunities are substantial.
By actually licensing this core a company could develop an audio/video product in a significantly shorter amount of time with all of our enhanced features and this is what makes it so attractive by the companies we have been working with.
These companies have much, much broader visibility than e.Digital does and having their endorsement behind this technology out there can get it to a number other companies very quickly and have these companies also help support us.
BD-The point is that the 1000 is there with the other biggies. We're not invested in Samsung or Dell here. We're invested in a little company called e.Digital. Risks are high, but if they hit it, the rewards are high too. Also, I think people have to understand NDA's. Nothing will be announced until the time comes to announce, and possibly in certain situations, there will never be an announcement. The revenue will show up in the financials. The Dell platform has not been claimed by anyone yet and the player is already for sale.
So, we wait hopefully for the good times to come. Good luck.

Dell DJ for sale-20 gig-$299.00
http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products/category.aspx/dj?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs
Niz-No, if we are in the Dell player, Hitachi is just the supplier of the drives, imo. I think the OEM would be a company like Wistron, as Sentinel, Murgirl, Tenderloin and others here have indicated. It has been told to some that the OEM for e.Digital doesn't brand their own branded items, therefore Hitachi would not be the OEM, just a supplier of the 1.8" drives.
Murgirl & Berge-You all be careful out there.
Just heard that the Monday night football game will not be played in San Diego because of the fires. I think they are using the stadium to house people and supplies. They will play the game in Tempe, Arizona I think.

All ballots must be received no later than noon Pacific Time on December 4, 2003 to be counted at the Annual Meeting.
Summary of Business Developments
Over the past ten months, we have executed our business plan of maximizing our technology and securing new Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) business. We have cut costs, consolidated operations, solidified recurring revenue and landed new OEM business and opportunities. As a result, we have realized our strongest three consecutive quarters in the Company’s history. Based on current business and expected OEM product deliveries, we anticipate that the quarter ending December 31, 2003 will continue this trend.
During the past year, we have announced new business developments that demonstrate we are building our business to maximize returns from our technology, services and products.
Let me detail our progress in our announced areas of business:
Wireless Headset
This summer, we delivered Ears to the World, a wireless, MP3-based headset (personal translation device) for use within Walt Disney World Resort. The Show Translators supply real-time, location-based narrative providing a more satisfying personal experience for guests with limited English fluency. French, German, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish translations are currently available.
The translators utilize our patented MicroOS™ as well as our hardware and firmware. The Ears to the World project was developed as a result of the partnership announced in February between Hewlett-Packard, Softeq Development, and e.Digital. The translators interact with many key attractions in all four theme parks in Orlando, Florida (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom). We expect further business and future opportunities for this product and from these OEM relationships.
Automotive Infotainment System
When we announced our relationship with Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten in 2002, the project consisted of developing an automotive infotainment system based on MicroOS that would be integrated with one of their popular in-car CD/Stereo models. As the project progressed, Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten requested additional functionality to accommodate a greatly expanded range of product models. After several modifications to the original specifications at their request, and based on their updated schedule, we expect to deliver the automotive infotainment systems to Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten this quarter. Because Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten is a tier one supplier to major OEMs such as Toyota, if this product proves successful in the automotive aftermarket, we expect further business for this system and subsequent generations.
Odyssey 1000™ Digital Jukebox Platform
In January 2003, we launched our Odyssey 1000. The original 20 gigabyte model was supplemented with 15 and 40 gigabyte models in September. This present combination of offerings addresses the needs of a variety of consumers, from those who find cost to be the most important factor to others desiring larger capacity.
As current demand for digital jukebox products is focused on smaller form factors with increasing functionality, we reported in September that we licensed the Odyssey 1000 platform for a 1.8” hard disc drive-based form factor to a major Asian OEM for third party branding and distribution. We are pleased to report that the Asian OEM is in production and we expect the first branded units to be released to consumers in early November. We expect this new 1.8” HDD version of our Odyssey 1000 platform will be the basis for future Odyssey models.
To augment the new smaller 1.8” HDD configuration, we have enabled digital rights management (DRM) support, full ID3 tag support and Windows Media Player compatibility in order to interface with many of the new content sites that have recently come on line. A firmware upgrade with these enhancements will be released for Odyssey 1000s sold to date.
Because of the flexibility of our MicroOS we have developed a wide range of feature sets for the Odyssey 1000 platform, providing many choices for OEM customers. This a-la-carte model allows OEM clients to customize the Odyssey 1000 platform for their individual specifications and product needs.
Personal Video Platform
We are pleased to report that the first version of our MicroOS-enabled personal video platform launched this month as APS’ digEplayer™ in-flight entertainment system. The digEplayer was officially unveiled by APS and e.Digital at this year’s World Airline Entertainment Association (WAEA) Conference and Exhibition in Seattle in early September. Meetings held at the conference have yielded new opportunities and potential business from major airlines beyond the initial order placed for Alaska Airlines.
Video quality, ease-of-use and content security are the primary components of our personal video platform. We have partnered with DivXNetworks to create robust content protection utilizing their patent pending video encryption technology and our proprietary firmware and hardware encryption.
While APS’ digEplayer provides an excellent example of one of the many uses for our proprietary video platform, the business opportunities extend beyond airlines and represent potentially millions of dollars in revenue to e.Digital through expected royalties, new orders, refurbishment and upgrades.
We are currently pursuing licensing opportunities with OEMs interested in customizing our personal video system for a variety of specifications and products including in-home and automotive applications.
Other Business
We continue to work on new business opportunities for our technologies and product platforms with announced and unannounced OEM partners. Among the opportunities we are working on is the licensing of our MicroOS core. We look forward to detailing this and other new opportunities at December’s Annual General Meeting.
Summary
The past year has been one of significant growth for e.Digital as we overcame many challenges and worked to position your company for success.
Atul Anandpura and our team of engineers have worked diligently with our OEM customers and partners to customize and enhance our technology platforms for new products targeted at emerging markets. Our ability to integrate new technologies and support the security concerns of content providers combined with the proliferation of secure content availability is creating greater demand for our MicroOS technology, engineering services and product platforms. We are well positioned to capitalize on current and future opportunities in the audio, video and wireless products industries.
We thank you, our shareholders, customers, board of directors, employees and partners for your continued support and look forward to meeting with many of you at the Annual Meeting.
Sincerely,
Alfred H. Falk

Niz-
Yes we have seen this and discussed it. RP has told us that the OEM does sell anything as their own brand, so therefore the OEM can't be Creative. That doesn't mean that the insides of the Dell DJ is not from e.Digital, it just means that the manufacturing OEM is not Creative. A lot of folks here think the OEM is someone like Wistron, the company who manufactures the Dell PDA's. Good Luck.
By the way, word is that the NFL is looking at the digEplayer to use during the games on the sidelines, instead of using pictures that are taken while the game is going on. This was mentioned by the anchor lady on the tv station piece that Boyer was in. I think the station is in Seattle. We are getting closer all the time, imo.
Of course, no one is willing to say that until it's announced. I agree with you.
Don't forget, Disney also has a cruise lines. Cruise lines are looking at our IFE product per some of the stories that have been written. Headsets and IFE, interesting.

Hot Topic: Digital Content – A New Standard For IFE (Or Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About MPEG 4)
This week's Hot Topic is one that should intrigue everyone from the novice IFE'r to the most seasoned veteran (who has already seen plenty efforts to standardize IFE).
The WAEA Technology Committee's DCMWG (Digital Content Management Working Group - try saying that in one breath!) will be meeting at the Long Beach Airport Marriott on October 22. This group is lead by Michael Childers (IMDC) and Julian Levin (Twentieth Century Fox), and we think they've got this group headed for success at a new digital standard for IFE content delivery.
The meeting will be a great place to get educated about MPEG4, as the DCMWG plans to focus on this codec for a future IFE standard format. Here's a thumbnail list of topics:
MPEG4 demonstrations
H.264 vs. ''legacy'' MPEG4
ISMA (Internet Streaming Media Alliance)
AES encryption
Key Management System
Reference Model
Call-for-Contributions document
If you need to know about MPEG4's future in IFE (and who among us doesn't), get on over to this meeting. Or check it out by webcast (send email to bryan_rusenko@waea.org or instructions). You can see the whole meeting agenda on the website at www.waea.org
Sent-This says the Napster/Samsung YP-910GS is launching soon.
http://www.i4u.com/article715.html
Napster 2.0 as announced earlier will launch October 29th. The Napster Player and Service could be a real competition for Apple's iPod.
The Napster branded Samsung YP-910GS comes fully packed with features. Some of them are accessories you have to buy for the iPod, like the FM Transmitter.
The Mercury News has a very positive review about the Napster MP3 player:
"However, to Samsung's credit, its new player isn't just another iPod copycat. It has a line-in jack so it can record by itself. It can tune into and record FM radio stations. And, with an included antenna, it can transmit FM signals, allowing its music to be picked up by any nearby radio, such as a car stereo."
Amazon.com is taking orders for the Napster MP3 Player already. It will ship October 20th. The Samsung YP-910GS is selling for $399.
The Napster MP3 Player is also directly available at J&R Computer and Music World!.

Lickily-I suppose he did make a splash, so far. I would think he would try to get as much of the music business as he can, because he surely couldn't get the computer business. The last figure I heard was that he had 3% of the business. I figure in time, Gates will defeat this too.
