I agree,Silversmith. The big money won't buy at 0.11 because they don't have to. They'll pay more per share for a solid company with more of a guarantee of return based on their secret formulas and they have deeper pockets than most of us. That's why they have $$$$$$$$ and most of us have $. We are hoping that we can outguess them and get in on the ground, ground floor.
Staying long....Now back to turning over those sofa cushions....
Go Sigma!
Hope all is well with you and your family rOund3r. Photos and stats of your new little "AM product" are expected here!
Nice!! Lotsa dough!
The industry is booming in WA state--I live here and see it. Other states will look to WA to work out the bugs with regulation and then follow suit. I'm not in Seattle, or even close and it's obvious here, too. The big issue is the crackdown on the illegal/forest grows because of the nonsustainable, sometimes really damaging grow practices. So self- or commercial cultivation is the push. As marijuana becomes more accepted (just for the record, I'm horribly allergic to the stuff) I think more people will want to grow their own. At the current price per gram (in the newspaper here every day in some story or another), people will want to cultivate it like orchids. I can see it taking off like the wine industry here. Washington, the (mellow) Evergreen state.....I'm long a few thousand, don't stand to lose much, but still holding a bit in my portfolio.
Ah, thanks so much Sailboat1! This helps. He looked good on paper, but this is out of my field.
Sailboat1, could you help us out and tell us what this means? I don't have the background to interpret but you can see something important in this that I don't want to miss.
Thanks, MDuffy, this is very good information.... but my question is, can he make coffee? :o)
So they are hiring someone with talent, training and who already has a tangible presence in the field ...and I am sure c-o-n-n-e-c-t-i-o-n-s in the industry. It seems like a person with this extensive of a background (from this layman's point of view) could work just about anywhere but he chose to join "our" Sigma cult...er...firm.
I also like the SPLAT acronym.
Congrats in advance! Sigma Louise is a nice name ;o)
Thar she blows...we must be getting close ;o)
Nonetheless, I remain long and strong on SGLB. Go Team!
Thanks for the clarification!
Reasons to keep things under wraps and play close close to their vests: corporate spies who would just love to copy PrintRite or Deform and offer an alternative to SGLB's programs and/or GE's plans. Reasons to get their commercialization going soon:corporate spies who would just love to copy PrintRite or Deform and offer an alternative to SGLB's programs and/or GE's plans. They can't keep the competition away forever. Nobel prizes are awarded all the time to the researcher who gets it done first although not the only one working on the same topic. Enough info on this technology is out that this has to be a concern.
They need to show us the nozzles. When they do, it will turn around quickly.
It gives us something to do between PR's....You're right....Maybe we all need to get out more...or diversify ;o)
I went through this with another company years ago, with it moving from privately held to IPO ...it took 4 years of laying foundation and behind the scenes negotiations that absolutely were not going to see the light of day. I agree with Canuck that more tidbits of news here and there would help investors see even small progress. I do hope SGLB gets a good marketing director because the brains of the organization are not hired for charisma...they do "okay" but I think they need a full time person out front.... I don't believe--and I will repeat--that this is a ripoff company that is going to bomb. It just takes time to get everyone moving in the same direction.
Remember the PR that is due on the 14th. These things take time, I'm sure you know. There are a lot of moving parts to this alignment between GE, EOS, Materialise and Sigma....including some spelled "A-T-T-O-R-N-I-E-S" who have to make sure agreements are in their client's best interests and I am sure GE has a boatload of 'em on retainer..lots of behind the scenes activities that aren't necessarily going to be talked about because the process isn't "sexy"...like putting in a hot water heater in your house. It is essential, but who wants to say to the neighbors "wow, look at my new hot water heater, see how well I'm doing?" I think we see the same here..who wants to say "our fleet of attorneys and business managers are drawing up the contracts right now so we make sure that we don't get ripped off by the companies we want to work with?" I don't expect anything for at least another month and another 6 months wouldn't surprise me. So, staying long here...
Getting that whole stadium area and the city itself, really, together for the World Cup was nothing short of a miracle. If you haven't read The Devil and the White City, you should. RE: the Brazilian wife and the sound trouncing of her team: Some truths are best left unsaid. It's good to remember that it is a game...but hard to convince entire countries of that fact. You should pick up tickets to your local A level pro baseball team...you get lots of practice in graceful losing!
Like stocks, it's a gamble! Now we are back on track!
Goin' to one of those payday loan places right now...
Just kidding.
It's always a gamble.
I did my best to help out. Having exhausted the sofa cushions I found enough change in the pockets of winter coats (along with pocket fuzz and a wintergreen lifesaver) to get another thousand shares at 0.115 ;^)
I think this is Sigma being wisely discrete. If you are trying to connect with a big name, you let them tell you when you can drop their names and you don't make claims beyond what you can prove. Remember that SGLB is made up of scientists and researchers. Think Cold Fusion debacle...no one wants a repeat of that. And no cowboys allowed or Ge will forget they ever knew SGLB. Smart move. Very smart. The more I follow this the more I think SGLB knows what they are doing.
Looked under those sofa cushions....squeaked out another 3K shares...little guys like me ride on the big guys coattails :o)
RE: hostile takeover...Argh! I was on the receiving end of one of those once. It was not pleasant. My standard of living fell considerably....so hope SGLB mgmt is doing something about this very situation.
I've got to give Sigma credit, they seem to know what direction they want to go and are moving ahead one proper--albeit glacial-- step at a time, at least to us on the outs. Their connection with big names is still a good thing and the fact that the big companies will associate with them is also a good thing despite the MM's bargain basement PPS.
A agree with silversmith and have wondered the same thing: news, news, news and name-dropping to boot. So why these stagnant prices? My speculation--and I am not an expert--is that Sigma has yet to produce a "real" product, it's in Beta but not yet a final product. I think some of the bigger investors may be willing to jump on board when the product has been through beta testing and pronounced absolutely viable. Bigger players can can pay .25 a share on the way up when they're looking at a 200% return at .75 a share. Not hard for them to come by a few hundred thou when they're investing OPM (other people's money)! Just like commodities, follow the big money, they know things most of us small investors will never be able to find out. The MMs are some of it, but there is likely more. Nonetheless, if Sigma was a shaky company, the likes of Honeywell and GE wouldn't give them a second look and sure as heck wouldn't let their names be associated with any fly-by-night outfits! They can buy whomever they want, very deep pockets with those two companies. So they vouch for Sigma's validity in my eyes. So, we wait!
