Electron Beam welds are the preferred method to achieve a hermetic seal. Microwave electronics use many small hermetic packages, I always believed Liquidmetal is the perfect metal for such applications. The housings are usually small and very intricate with walls and cavities to channel the stripline and place diodes, caps etc. the blocks therefore are expensive to machine. A perfect application for an intricate mold; the biggest plus would be dimension as the unit walls could be thinner due to LM’s strength. Space and weight are paramount in the electronics compartments (nose) of our military jets.

Well, at least you didn’t buy 50 shares of LQMT (@.28). Liquidmetal fans are no strangers to pain. Could you imagine if (like Phil Michelson) you were suspected of insider trading? for buying LQMT no less! we are safe from that! Have Fun.
How about a golf club with an accelerometer in the head and transmitter in the handle? Your golf bag could have a charge amplifier to convert picocoulombs to millivolts per G displayed on an oscilloscope so you could determine from the spectrum how you are hitting the ball? The club head would have a liquidmetal contact surface, of course. Wouldn’t that be cool?
There was some alphanumerical document where LM stated they had not negotiated with any other contract manufacturers; I keep thinking P. Hauck did just that during the seven months it took him to join the company. This is significant because no matter how we speculate, sales orders are all we are waiting for.
Therefore, I think there will be news of a signed contract as early as this month and wouldn’t that be happy. The recent news has been good, Gorgol has returned to bold optimism from despondency and who couldn’t help but notice Watts cautious optimism? If it goes below .20 without news I’ll buy more; I was a minute late depositing money last week, unlike Watts and Gorgol who stated they increased their positions (I’m jealous).
As far as arguing facts goes, it is wise to consider Immanuel Kant’s metaphysical arguments. He attempted to prove nothing is a fact except a body at rest stays at rest unless acted on by a force, everything else is just conjecture. Tolstoy, in “War and Peace” suggests the truth changes based on how much time has gone by, how many people are involved and the bias of the author of said truth. Objectivism interprets Aristotle by stating “There are no contradictions, if you believe there is a contradiction check your premises, one of them is wrong.” My point is, to be aware of the probability that putting too much emphasis on “facts” risks not being able to “see the forest for the trees.” Why this board is so much fun is you have Watts (for example) relying heavily on metaphysics and Gorgol (for example) on epistemology. They both tell you where they are coming from, Watts “Wrestles” with the “facts” and Gorgol speculates on the potential of a garden. Liquidmetal is in motion, will it bear fruit or be stopped by another force? Only time will tell.
Looks like the E-Motion 100 is in RSM, when did that happen?
MY DD is actually based on Tolstoy’s theory on people en masse. He analyzed Europeans in the early 1800’s and suggested it was the will of the people not so much Neapolitan himself, he was thrust in front of the movement; culminating in his defeat in Russia, depicted in “War and Peace.” I’ve suggested that’s how Hauck ended up at Liquidmetal and will be the catalyst that disrupts industries with LM alloys. The huge volumes of trades, even the quantity of visitors to this board lead me to believe the time for application is near, if not now. It would be foolish to argue with Watts on his assessment of management but using that same logic I argue the success of Paul Hauck, just like the management will again under perform Mr. Hauck will add to the accomplishments of his stellar career. The hardest part for Hauck will be to keep the suicide gun away from the children in the conference room.
Oh, McWatts, you’ve done it again! Out of the way road hog! I misinterpreted your quote, but I get it now; we’re long, Liquidmetal is hot and your prediction summer is coming is inevitable! I took it as a bad thing but look at us now.
Excellent job Mister Watts. My contention is, Hauck understood the terms of the settlement with Barney Rubble and agreed to it as it wouldn’t interfere with his plans. The JPL article in the WSJ could be viewed as Marketing as opposed to PND.
“One thing I am now absolutely sure of:
My shares bought at 18 cents are very secure.
There is absolutely NO WAY that the PPS could ever go below 18 cents. “
I feel better, you feel better! That a way man! Could there be a better sign of a meteoric rise in the stock price than absolutely giddy posts from Watts?! Stranger things have happened, but I don’ know what they are. “Dream until your dreams come true.” Does this mean you’ll give us investment advice now? Don’t tell me, Invest in astronomy, it’s looking up!
My thousands of dollars deposit cleared TD today. .17 looked good to me, now what.. am I a day late ? or fooled again. What a crazy game this is. It’s encouraging to see Watts in a good mood. All these pop up posters when there is a spike in the PPS makes me cautious. Maybe I can catch the second half of the show on the BBC… or did that start at seven. How many times have I seen companies buy a product, repackage it and sell it to their customer? Retail can be sweet. Liquid Metal can do a lot of that. “we love the prototype, when can we have a thousand of these?” Wow, LQMT, not boring that’s for sure. Too bad Watts doesn’t give investment advise. Stay Tuned!
Fair enough and I did ask. Thanks for taking the time. If I worked at RSM I’d be excited to bring disruptive material to fruition, more than I’m excited by money. According to your posts we should be clearing the way for success. I’m not looking forward to a long hot summer but I am cognizant of the facts you are rarely wrong. P.S. you’d miss G if he left, he’s a big player in this saga.
Thanks. I guess your suggesting the creep up to 20,5 was a slow pumping. Therefore the good news scared them out. It still seems like a lot of transactions.
Seriously, and I am absolutely a newbie, how does 13 million trades make the PPS go down? Not to mention good news. I’m long and I transferred money to buy more LQMT so bringing my PPS down is fine but what’s the logic behind heavy volume after good news and the price goes down? I’m miffed.
It’s good to be the King. Apple will make the big splash of using liquid metal. Their marketing dept. might decide it’s best if Liquidmetal is introduced on center stage by Apple, not liquid metal lands big contract and Apple saying we use that too. After Apple does what’s best for Apple only then will liquid metal get some crumbs or squished like a bug. Of course crumbs to Apple could launch LQMT right off the OTC. Recently I’d say the stars are aligning in Liquidmetal’s favor. Paul Hauck is probably having a great time working with the Apple guys.
For example, if Apple has 10 machines running 24/7 to build cases for the 6 release at some point the demand would decrease and they’d only need 5 machines to fill orders after the initial spike. That’s when LQMT can use the other 5 machines to fill it’s orders. After all what are business partners for?
That’s a good deal for both. I don’t know how happy VPC will be competing against apple’s manufacturing capabilities but apple will be happy and more so liquidmetal.
LQMT is the only stock I sold at a loss this year, when I bought back in and started losing again I just felt dumb. The potential of the product intrigued me so much I couldn’t believe it had no future. When we can’t tell the difference between Watts posts and Gorgols we’ll be able to get our money back and then some.
The pieces keep falling into place, slowly but surely. Of course only revenue will move the PPS, as we are not allowed to forget. The path for said revenue keeps getting clearer with every event that’s occurred over the recent history. Today, for the first time, I didn’t feel like Ahab chasing the white whale and considered increasing my position. I hope the price stays low until revenue is realized in case I do decide to buy more. I actually believe this is going to be fruitful, up until now I’ve just been messing with Watts with my pipe dream posts.
When polled only 4 percent of people believe their IQ is less than average, but that would have to be 49.9 by definition. Many people will visit the board while deciding to invest in this stock or not, they should be encouraged. The path Hauck plans to take this company has not been hindered by the terms of the agreement, if Hauck quits I’m wrong. Keep it simple, this is good news; think occam’s razor.
The way I see it, this is Hauck unleashed; he probably brokered the deal. LQMT is busting at the seams with info they’ve kept secret until this day. Forget he said she said, Hauck isn’t after small potatoes. This is disruptive technology and it’s ready to explode. It took aluminum 10 years to catch on, now it’s liquid metal time. LQMT and VPC will end up helping each other out if need be. What’s has been right all along and never gave us dreamers a moments fantasy, he knows what this means and if you’ve followed his posts so do you. Think Hauck Mr. Watts, it’s the only thing that has impressed you in six months. Let’s all do the wave!
I was always frustrated by the war of the roses scenario, I’m glad I’m not crazy. Mr. Watts you are much more attractive when you smile and I couldn’t be happier for Sandy, you two are the odd couple on this board and keep us all interested. Whatever may come, please enjoy this moment; this is part of our lives.
How did you know? How cool is that? You got it!
They were tough on you yesterday. You can laugh last.
I was unaware of the slip in the ETA of the emotion machine, since June is only days away the reality became clear from the fog if midst. I believe if LM came out with some large contracts no one saw coming you’d happily admit you were wrong about your predictions. I also believe you are confident that you won’t be happy anytime soon. Personally I’m giving LM all of 2014 to change the trajectory of the company and I believe they will. Relatively, selling millions of liquid metal parts is easier than dreaming up sizzle or creating midst for this board, look what it’s done to Sandy. Our day will come and I can’t wait to read your post and Sandy’s which will be absolutely apoplectic. As we wait.
The machine comes in next month, that’s when things will start to get interesting. Until then the big fish will be liquid metal flounder. Make or break in 2014.
Fabrication of miniature parts and molds from bulk
metallic glass
OCR Number: OCR 4897
Description:
Advances in the precision net-shaping, micromolding, and fabrication of high-aspect-ratio metal
structures have greatly expanded the range of applications for micro-electromechanical and
nanoelectromechanical systems (MEMS and NEMS). Bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) have unique
properties that make them ideal for micro- and nano-structure applications. However, they have been
limited by the types of master molds available. Yale University researchers and their collaborators at
the University of California have developed a system to fabricate precise molds and microparts from
bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) using low cost carbon molds (BMG*CMEMS). Unlike silicon or polymer
molds, these carbon molds are stable at the high temperatures which required for the thermoplastic
forming (TPF) of BMGs.
Field of Application: Applications include the use of BMG parts and molds in MEMS, NEMS, precision
tools, watch movement components, surface patterning, nanoimprinting, and data storage. Additionally,
many BMGs are biocompatible, so this technology can be used in biomedical implants.
Advantages: The unique properties of BMGs confer a number of advantages. They exhibit high
strength, large elastic strain limit, and high corrosion resistance owing to their amorphous nature. They
are isotropic, homogenous, and free from any crystalline defects down to atomic scales. Surface
roughness is not dependent on mold finish, since it can be reduced by heating. Thus, BMG parts and
molds produced by TPF are much superior in mechanical, chemical, and surface properties compared
to metallic parts produced by LIGA (Lithography, Electroplating and Molding), an existing fabrication
technology for producing high-aspect-ratio microstructures. In addition, the process described here
using carbon molds contains important advantages over LIGA in terms of cost, complexity, and
versatility. The electroplating step in LIGA is complex and limits material selection. Additional
drawbacks of LIGA which are not a factor with BMG*CMEMS are limited geometric complexity,
inconsistent pattern transfer, and residual stresses.
Stage of Development: Low cost carbon templates have been developed that are stable at high
temperatures and have sufficient mechanical strength. These have been used as master molds to
produce high quality BMG parts. The BMG parts can be as a final product or as a further mold for other
materials.
I looked into the Vertu, it can’t hold a candle to Samsung on performance, the phone actually sucks as a phone; Apple’s not going to have that problem, it’s still a viable scenario. Maybe at $1200.00 Apple could make a lucrative profit and sell every phone that becomes available. The Nokia was way over priced and was technologically inferior to its competition. If they made it out of LM maybe fitch wouldn’t have just declared nokias stock to Junk Status. I’m just sayin’.
Why I’m still here is because I believe the company will be successful in the near future.
The companies that would benefit from using LM won’t make the investment without more proof that it is viable and without hidden pitfalls; nobody wants to be first.
Paul Hauck must have as non disclosure agreement with LM that he will honor the NDA from apple, therefore he became privy to information proving apple will utilize LM in a significant way.
For the time being Paul is lining up all the dominoes behind the apple domino.
Once it’s a proven product selling it will be easy.
The shattering golf clubs created too much risk for other companies to follow with an investment.
Apple experimenting with LM was promising news.
Apple using LM is the game changer that will start the chain reaction.
That’s why, I think, Paul Hauck took the job. He wouldn’t have considered taking the job if he didn’t know apple’s intentions. Like everyone in the know, I wait.
I remember (a long time ago) my rich aunt telling me she had to wait two months to be able to buy her Mercedes Benz, there was a waiting list; she spoke with all the snobbery it would imply. Since they can only make so many cases out of Liquidmetal the prestige value of owning one will keep the backlog of orders high despite the exorbitant cost; that’s ballsy marketing “We have the best phone in the world but you’ll have to wait in line to buy one, if you can even afford it.” Therefore a must have for the upper echelon and why is it so rare and expensive? It’s made out of Liquidmetal. Paul Hauck’s job will become effortless, the product will sell itself.
It’s supposed to stop raining here on the east coast but it should start back up again after the conference call, metaphorically speaking.
Not to fear, the next chapter of this long and tortuous saga is “Paul Hauck makes his move.”
“They say the darkest hour is right before the dawn.”
With all the Joe Friday “Just the facts man” requests it is interesting how much rumors, innuendoes and inferences move the PPS of stocks, look at yesterday. Therefore positive posts help move the PPS in a positive direction, which is important since the company itself isn’t doing anything to increase the share price. Use your imagination, Liquid metal toothbrushes or toilet paper, there’s your LM sheets right there. While we wait.
This certainly is an interesting stock, I’ve been invested since January which you might not consider long; but with all the twists and turns it sure feels like it. I don’t believe it will be much longer until the PPS moves drastically in one direction or the other but it will probably feel like it. Oh well, I always liked roller coasters. Hang on!
I hope they announce a resolution to the Visser debacle this week, before or during the CC. I can’t think of anything else they can say but, hurt. Let us pray.
You gotta believe Paul Hauck had some sales lined up before he took the job. Once they make Barney happy with some liquidmetal parts for his race car so he can drop everything and go play; things will start to get better.
In the defense industry most orders are for low quantities (how many F-22 Raptors are there?) Quantities’ are usually small and required over time. If LM made a prototype that the sub-contractor wanted to purchase, LM would end up making all the parts and that would bring in revenue. The emotion machine will have plenty of down time in between prototypes to fill orders. When they have two emotion machines then they’ll be cooking with fire. I hope they are considering doing some manufacturing; they need the revenue.
It’s May! Apple Launch? Arbitration finalized? Will it be Contracts or Bankruptcy? Time will tell and there’s not much left. It’s coming down to the Liquidmetal wire.
I try to remind myself, Liquidmetal is stronger and lighter than steel. Parts can be made smaller which is even lighter and less obtrusive. How advantageous would it be if Rockets, Aircraft, Sport Cars even Stock cars where made of LQMT, think of the advantages engineers could incorporate with the extra space created and energy saved; an aircraft carrier of liquid metal. Mechanical engineers would wet their pants. Oh by the way it has very high plasticity. You could almost hear their ejaculations. Someday.
I think it’s safe to say Management believes they are right and they’ve kept the situation from getting worse; simple human nature. If Hauck’s ideas conflict with their own opinions, they are likely to resist instead of admit they are wrong. If they believe Hauck will get his way and it will screw up the company some might have decided to sell shares. Of course this ship of fools makes one bad decision after another and selling those shares added to the list. Hauck didn’t want to dilute, management diluted (3 more bad decisions). Stiepp knows Hauck will win and he’s hoping he’s not going with the rest of the house cleaning that Watts believes is way overdue. VPC settles, Management shakeup and Hauck get’s the confidence from customers LQMT will competently handle their sales order. VPC first then it’s Popcorn, soda and watch the show!
Research “Bulk metallic glass applications” over the last month, scientists are discovering a lot of exciting possibilities with amorphous metal, this technology is ready to touch down. With all respect to WIAN’s posts, up until now the technology just wasn’t ready to be embraced; it is ironic, he, OOO and others had the foresight to invest when it has been way too much foresight and proved to be a painful wait. I suspect Hauck joined LQMT because he believes the technology is ready to be applied where it is the best fit. It would have been wise for Hauck to consult Apple, Engel, Materion and 27 years worth of customers before he took the job at LQMT. Heck they probably told him “You better take the job, we need a guy in there who knows what he is doing!” Right Mister Watts? At this point I don’t know if I want a ROI more or hearing Watts sing Zippity Do Da; I think we’d all like both.
It’s safe to say all involved want arbitration to be over. I believe there are many win-win scenarios available. If liquidmetal is valuable to it’s partners maybe they can intervene on LM’s behalf.
Dd you see this? It seems Hauck made a nice impression at Corona Medical days.
http://www.ptonline.com/blog/post/injection-molded-metals-have-their-say-at-medical-event
I was thinking.26 but hey, the more the merrier!
