The gaps hardly ever get filled after a buyout as you say. However over 90% of gaps do get filled even with that. It's something I'm always wary of because I know the history and the numbers. Let's face it, the vagaries of the market are very often puzzling. If this was easy we would all have unlimited wealth. As you know it's hard and it takes a lot of effort. One of the most valuable tools after the research has been completed is knowing how to wait. Even though I learned that a long time ago and I'm pretty patient, sometimes I still get restless with an investment and have to slow myself down. The fundamentals took a huge leap with the Altria deal. More doors are swinging open every day. Altria had to be very impressed with the science. Others will be too and maybe soon. It's just a matter of time until the stock reacts. When it does it could be fast and sharp.
If you're trying to imply someone or some entity is trying to put a lid on this thing, I would intend to doubt it. When it's ready to run it will run.
Unfortunately, stocks don't always do what we think they should do, or want them to do.
Looks like it's trying to fill the gap created by the news last week. I think that's around 1.26-1.27. Also don't forget all the technical barriers Knife pointed out between 1.50 and 1.70 as well. Not to mention testing the old 1.00 resistance to confirm that as support and finally kiss it good-bye. He's been spot on lately with analysis. I think everybody thought (hoped) it would run after the Altria news, but that news as positive as it was, wasn't enough to get the stock through strong resistance. Probably the most productive thing now from a technical standpoint would be to fall back to around a dollar to validate that support and emerge technically stronger with more energy for the inevitable move (run) higher.
The big takeaway from last week is now there's some real substance behind the glitz. Altria getting involved here is a major, major positive. We all know that. Now when the stock drops we all know there is substantial underpinning under the stock. More eyes on this every day. More deals on the way. So many potential applications. So much promise. Things have never looked better for this company. All it takes now is patience to hang in until the big rewards start coming. Everything is lining up nicely. Now we watch and wait.
Yeah, no volume today. Only 25,000 as of 12:30. Just took a look. Usually when there's a holiday here, Canada is quiet. Hopefully Lexy gets her mojo back this week.
Nice find man! Last week was arguably the most significant in the history of the company. Now the exposure comes. The word is getting out and the buyers will come.
Keep banging against the wall. Softening it up. Then BOOM!!!
Pretty much confirms what Knife has said a few times. Hopefully the Altria news will give it the strength to break down the wall soon.
400,000 in the first hour. Haven't seen that in a looong time.
Let's blow the roof off baby!! Got that 1.60 and more with a nice slug of volume.
Yeah, bid's a little elevated. Let's roll!!
I'm thinking the longer the halt, the more important it will be, but who really knows.
I think it's significant that it held at Knife's final support level in the high.70's. It was painful to watch that unfold, but it's bounced nicely off that low. Albeit with low volume. It wasn't an explosive "V" bottom, but encouraging so far. I'm happy to ride the coattails of the new year sector recovery until that much anticipated (hoped for) mega deal occurs. I know everyone is frustrated, but I do believe it's coming. Buckle up.
It came out of the gate hard today and held its gains into the close. Past breakouts with heavy volume were not one day wonders. Price moves like this with low volume were mixed bags in regard to follow through. Hoping to see a gradual build in volume the next few days to validate today. Encouraged by the volume and price action into the close.
Yeah, the volume is paltry, but after what we've been through, I'll take it. Hope it's real.
Still in a coma. Stirring a little. Every penny is like a mountain to this thing.
According to a conversation Ted Ohashi had with Bunka, Lexy had chrgd+ in their back pocket for a few years before they unveiled it. WTF??
One thing that's bothering me is relatively early last year they were talking about 6-12 new deals by the end of last year. Said they were talking to several companies. Classic case of over promising and under delivering. It's time for something tangible.
That was a gut punch!
Three things have happened here. Some may have had more impact, but all have influenced the share price. The sector has been in the crapper for a while now, the general market has entered a bear phase and as you mentioned, tax loss selling which is pretty much done has also impacted the price. This decline has been far from Lexaria specific. I think the sector struggling as well as tax loss selling have been the primary factors. Unless there is something negative going on with the company that we're not aware of, prices should start to rise in January. What we need is some fundamentally powerful news that will trump all the negativity out there. I think everybody understands that. Seems easier said than done. Just have to wait and tune out the nonsense every day.
We tend to get a little myopic watching this every day. In truth the whole sector has been slumping badly and many stocks are down and way down. Tax selling has been a factor, but is almost done. Lots of good fundamental news filtering out now and much of it right in the Lexaria wheelhouse. We should expect to turn higher in January.
Thanks for your response. I hope the downtrend will end when tax selling subsides and be over at the end of the year. Hope we don't see that next support level. That would be ugly. Yes, this company looks to have explosive potential. One big deal will serve to eliminate all the doubt that has been building recently. I also think that one big deal could open up the floodgates, so to speak. At this point banging on the 1.60 door of resistance looks pretty appealing to me. When that deal comes I would like this to be at a higher valuation for blast off. Thanks for the good information you provide.
That's the hook that keeps us here. It's always a worry, but I don't think I've ever sold anything whether up or down that's ever exploded higher right after I sold it. I've bought a stock where the bottom fell out not long after I bought it. One in particular comes to mind. Them's the risks always inherent in the markets. On another note, support at around a buck seems to be strong. I remember a while back Knife gave the various support areas based on his charting and $1 was one of them I think. Don't remember if $1 was his last stand or if he has another one lower. Hope we don't see any lower than where we've been recently.
Any idiot could have told you that 1.10 print was bogus and would quickly reverse just by looking at the tape. Anybody who makes a judgement during the first 10 minutes of daily trading is a sheep waiting to get fleeced.
Amen!!!!
Finished unchanged for the week. Considerable accomplishment considering.
The problem is we don't know if anything has changed. Good or bad. Personally, I wasn't hoping for a pullback. I'm in deep enough to ride it up. Won't buy here because in spite of what you say, stock's not acting right. Of course when you watch every day, the perspective is different. Hard not to look though.
There are still plenty of companies down today in the sector. Some down hard. Still, this whole situation is emitting a foul odor. Bunka has not made good on what was supposedly in the hopper by years end. Very little tangible information even though tangible progress has been made on some fronts. The most important, revenue growth has been absent. Stop with the puff pieces and bragging how good you've been to shareholders and start delivering meaningful substance! It's beyond time.
The whole sector has been getting slammed recently. This is not Lexaria specific. Of course a meaningful, substantial revenue generating alliance would do a lot to overcome the current beat down. It's taken a lot longer than many have anticipated.
That 1.35 buy looking mighty sweet!
Read his old posts. He's got issues with just about everything.
Are you out of your mind? He's under no obligation to tell you how many share he owned. Everyone has their own standard when it comes to giving out that information. Some people are more private than others. That should be respected without attacking the guy.
Thanks for sharing your take on the technical possibilities and for sharing your sell.
Hit $236 this morning. Now sinking fast. Amazing run. Waiting for our turn.
Not unexpected. Gaps almost always fill. Better to get it out of the way now. Almost there and the gap should completely close in the morning.
Finally some news that resonated. I'm a little concerned about today's gap though. About 90% of them eventually get filled. Maybe this will be one of the illustrious 10% that don't.
Here we go again. Let's see if today is different.
We've had a few of these false breakouts at the open before. Let's see if we really run this time.
Tough to watch. Some volume comes in and down she goes. This won't last much longer.
