Possible reason why it has/is taking so long the MONEY! impact. Back in 1982-83 a gentleman
approached a friend and myself about a new item he needed marketing for. The item was new and
he had imported several hundred here to the USA. He said that he had not received the ok for him to sell them yet, but wanted to get ready. We had to sign disclosure agreements before he showed them to us and we did. What they were... an amazing new form of television that was only 3 to 4 inches wide, it blew me away. Remember now that at this time Atari was the hottest thing, and no one but the very rich had a portable phone. Months/years went by and he still was not giving the ok to introduce the new technology then he received word that he had to remove them from the States, the reason was it would destroy companies like Curtis Mathes and and other big players with a backlog of CTR type TVs along with retail stock here in the USA. Jobs would be lost and tons of money also.
It wasn't till many many years later that they came out for sale and if you remember starting prices were close to $20,000 each for one. Five years ago I looked at a company, actually number 3 in electronic sales in China, they had some new electronic automotive products that would impact the auto world. I'm just starting to see some of the features in high end cars just very recently. First a system that assisted you in keeping your car in your lane, another that would not let your car hit an object in the road by analyzing your speed the speed and path of the collision object. This worked even in fog or night. Think about it! A system that constantly analyzed the road the object in front of you, even a deer heading your way and would take evasive action by controlling your braking. It would constantly in micro seconds figure at all times what it had to do to stop your vehicle from any form of collision. Oh and it works! Do you think the insurance agencies and body shops like this, bet not. Money and the impact of products are huge deciding factors.
