Haha agreed. I'm tempted to flip my current position and buy calls that expire today and flip them but you know I think I'll just let her play out. I think we found the bottom at $600.50. We will test $610 by the eod. I think $620-$625 is likely for next week.
I'm personally betting that Apple will go green by the end of the day or test that pin at $610.
I'm interested to see why you think AAPL will fall to those levels. The earnings report was the biggest blowout, there's no reason it should drop back to $580 imo. It had the biggest move in it's stock's history after the earnings $50 gain. There is bound to be some profit taking.
Those are just my opinions. I'm holding May $610 call
GDP data out in T-minus 15 minutes. Let's go bulls!
Yeah would have been a big play but they are so far out of the money for me it's so risky.
Currently the only thing I'm holding are APPL May $610 call. I bought today at $14.45 when the stock dipped to $603. So far so good, we will see how Apple does going forward!
It's fun to try and analyze plays. I never thought Amazon would have shot up this much from earnings.
Amazon just crushed earnings. Barring any unforseen circumstances, market should be green tomorrow.
Bernake just said QE3 is not off the table and they are prepared to do it if the economy needs it.
How do you guys find out what the IV was say 30 days or 60 days ago? Is there a website that I don't know about?
Feel better AD
I mean the drop today was due to AT&T's earnings how they made money by decreasing the # of iphones they sold and increasing subscriptions... I'm just not sure about this one.
Apple to report after the bell... anyone have any thoughts on what they think will happen?
I second this. I hate to take time out of your trading day, but it's a difficult concept to grasp and try to teach ourselves. Any help would be appreciated.
NFLX... Yikes down almost 20% from yesterday's action. -15% PM after earnings
Thanks DA I appreciate that
I hear ya Break. Normally I like to try and stay away from earnings plays but they don't report for another two weeks. I'm thinking it has some upward action over the course of the next few days to setup for the earnings as everyone here already pointed out that it was oversold. I thought it would drop a little more based on the news that came out last week but looks like it was possibly already priced in.
All: This is my last post for the day, it's been a long time since I've run out of posts in a day haha.
Good luck and remember to take profits! See you tomorrow - I'll still be reading posts just won't be able to respond.
Stock is at $18.17 and I'm just breaking even (45 cents higher than where I bought it) - Expensive lesson to learn but I appreciate your insight penny. Definitely will help in the future.
Favoriting this post. This is something that I've always had a tough time understanding. Time to do research and learn as much as I can about this.
Oh I completely understand that and I take all of this into account everytime I play them. But for the options to be effected by that huge of a discrepency within 10 minutes boggles my mind.
$17.73 @ 1.24
$17.91 @ 1.11
Even with volatility, I would have expected the options to be at least even with the $1.24. I didn't think the delta or volatility would change so drastically ina 10 minute window.
Thanks for the explination penny. As much as I trade options, I'm happy to learn something new every single day. I appreciate the explination, it's the first time I've seen things like this happen so quickly.
I'm not going to lie, this is getting me extremely aggrivated. The stock is up over 20 cents from the point that I bought the calls. The calls are now down over 14 cents per contract. That makes zero sense at all, May $18 calls, this is absolutely absurd.
Earlier this morning. It's not like it was running when I picked them up. It was stagnant in a range and I picked them up. Just frustrating as they aren't weekly options which I expect price action like that.
Question on the CHK options...
I havent seen much of anything like this before. I bought $18 May Calls. I purchased when the stock was around $17.73 @ $1.24 each. The stock is now around $17.83 and the options are worth $1.11 - HOD on option is $1.30
How the F does that work? I'm down 7% because of someone holding the price down?
Thanks bud!
Agreed it might be a bounce play but looks like a lot of us are on the same page.
Yeah that was the news last week. I think it might have been an overraction. We will see, I grabbed some skin in the game though.
I bought CHK May $18 Calls @ 1.24
CHK turning the corner and going to start making $ back?
SOLD LVS Puts
LVS May 19 '12 $57.50 Put
Bought to open @ 2.32 Sold to close @ 3.30
LVS Apr 27 '12 $55 Put w
Bought to open @ .62 Sold to close @ 1.10
Bought LVS puts into close on Friday. May sell those and switch roles and pick up some SPY puts or FAS puts. Still eyeing CHK, I know you guys are saying you're looking at buying calls, but I'm still thinking it drops a lot more especially on the whole CEO fiasco that's going on. Also keeping an eye on LGF to bottom out to scalp some calls before their next big blockbuster.
Looks like I sold my APPL puts too early again. Missed out on Thousands. Would have made back almost all of my losses on the year =\
Absolutely true words AD. You taught me that about a year and a half ago (can you believe it's been that long). Specialize in something. That should be something we all live by, I'm going to watch silver for awhile and try to understand how it fluctuates. It's always fun to learn though!
I'm still down quite a bit overall this year, but it was nice to have 3 back to back profitable trades.
Thanks for the tip - where do you see silver going this year? I'll be honest, my expertise isn't in commodities. How does it actually work - Silver I mean. I saw the gold run up and top out and on it's way down. Does this mean that other minerals such as copper and silver should take over?
:)
Thanks bud! I'm trying to find some options plays that are a couple of months out. Got any gems that you're looking at?
Flipped Apple 3 times today...
Bought $590 puts yesterday @ 2.00 sold @ $3.20 today (Bad trade had several chances at more 9.00 being the high got greedy)
Bought $585 puts today @ $1.25
Sold $585 puts today @ $2.17
Bought $580 puts today @ $1.00
Sold $580 puts today @ $1.428
Damn I played Apple wrong.
I bought $615 puts yesterday. I sold way too early. Would have been good for a 5-6 bagger, instead took 25% :\. Then misplayed the bounce and broke even on the trade. Doh!
This recent move in the market just killed me. I thought we'd have one day green then continue downward.
Trying to find some new plays to get back into it.
Hey bud nice to see you too!
I'm not sure which chart you're looking at. When looking at silver, I normally just look at SLV. Maybe I will learn something new today :)
If you tell me which chart I can give you my input on it!
What did you pick up? I'm guessing you're playing SLV?
I came up with this saying today, what do you think?
"A good trader is like a good pitcher or a good goalie. You are able to forget about what just happened and focus on the next play."
This can be used when you make a bad or unprofitable trade or if you feel like you sold too early. Hindsight is 20/20
LOL
Hindsight is 20/20!
Speaking of which I sold everything today once S&P couldn't hold the 50MA. Lost all of the profit I made the day before.
Purchased FAS Puts $92 April. Things are looking bleak right now.
That's the way to do it!
