True Contrarians...?
I believe that after 2008 crash too much emphasis is placed on finding contrarian positions.
To the point that being contrarian is now common.
Thus, the word contrarian in terms of market participants is in fact it's own antithesis.
If the shorts in this stock did basic math they wouldn't be short.
BTW ----short interest is 0.17%
Short ration = 0.18
ahhh...I guess they can surely claim the title of being contrarian.
Congratulations on your new title.

Two great quotes
Rauch said that its current financing is different from the others, which he termed “rescue” efforts. “This gets them to full operational potential and to realize the inherent value of the property.”
But Clarke said the new money plus the agreed changes to previous debt financings shows “the support we are getting from our two largest shareholders. It also recognizes the stage we are at and that this is how we make the company more successful.”
GRAMERCY AND BLACKROCK ARE THE TWO LARGEST SHAREHOLDERS
THEY ARE THE LARGEST BOND HOLDERS ALSO.
CATALYZING EVENTS !!!."
Robert Rauch, a portfolio manager with Gramercy, said after the initial investment, “we have worked with the company as part of a plan to unlock value by catalyzing events."

I believe the next catalyzing event is the updated NI43-101 for Twangiza.
It is already far past when management said it would be released which is slightly frustrating yet is likely a good sign in this case IMO. Possibly more material being included. It has been documented in two press releases that we should expect this updated NI43-101.
April 6, 2015 (Q1 Production PR)
The Twangiza operation processed up to 28% transition material currently in the measured and indicated categories. This material performed well when mixed with the oxide reserves and hence provides the basis for some non-oxide material to be incorporated into the on-going updated NI 43-101 reserves and resources statement that is expected to be released later this month.

NSU would not exist if it were not for Clark.
exciting to own a nice chunk of this miner.
Hope CEO follows his history and eventually provides a dividend like they did with NSU...
probably 3 years out.
Once they are more stable with Namoya we should enquire as to what their timing is with a dividend.
100%
99% as of April 2014.
Forward progress should be swift now.
They just needed a little bit of cash and the drum to really move it forward.
It provided us with a golden buying opportunity.
...they simply did not have the cash to fix the operational problems they encountered. Higher fines content and subsequent determination of the need for an agglomeration drum.
"As part of the pre-commercial gold production, the Company recovered 3,362 ounces of gold (129,372 tonnes of material stacked at 1.91 g/t Au) from its semi-agglomerated heap leach operation in Namoya during the first quarter of 2014. As of the end of Q1 2014, project completion at Namoya stood at approximately 99 percent."

They felt they had the extra cash in November 2014 when they procured the drum.
We should be getting higher production rates currently....as we speak.
"We are also very pleased with the progress at Namoya, where the commissioning of the agglomeration drum has led to improvements in the quality of stacked material, which in turn is supporting the ramp-up towards commercial operations," commented Banro CEO and President John Clarke."
"With the commissioning of the agglomeration drum in the first quarter of 2015, Namoya's focus is on ore delivery in order to increase the stacking rate towards commercial levels as well as optimizing the stacking process with the agglomerated heap leach in order to improve percolation and gold extraction. Management will continually assess the optimal utilization of the Carbon-In-Leach ("CIL") circuit as ongoing ore extraction enhances expectation with respect to fines content and the heap leach circuit is optimized."

Side note:
Obviously now that we've seen Q4 and Q1 (2015) they would have survived as a company without the financing, but it would have been a situation where they were going to be cash strapped continuously for another year.
ung is a pretty unpredictable one we might get the full 100+ retracement.
but they have been dropping drilling rigs like crazy and it is likely to filter through soon
long sds too since yesterday.

what do you think about being long UNG into next week.
It's at the 78.6% fib level...seems to be holding.
bottom of the Bollinger bands too.
I'm a little bit of the opposite. Did technical trading for 2 years and didn't get that far. Certainly not enough to make it worth my time. Now I do ultra - deep value in semi-distressed company investing.
I do technical trading (a little) on the side now...keeps me in tune with the day to day action.
Worked out very well with BAA...I own 1/500 the company.
So I am talking my book.
but...
... if you read those PR's and do some of your own Due Diligence on it.
You might find it interesting.
By the way they are now financially sound and have a below $600 AISC. on one mine and a second coming into production
Might be worth your time to check it out.
Natural Resources.
I assume you're a technical trader since you made the same trade i did except with options.
Don't know if you do investments but this is an ultra deep value play I've been in since January...it's moved a lot but I feel there's still a lot to go.
the recent PR's provide all the critical information. Read them thoroughly and you'll gain a lot of info.

CAT 777s on the way!!
Curious...anyone know how many they purchased?
@ what cost?
From Q1 script
"with the closing of the gold sale agreement and the streaming transaction, the required mobile fleet has been procured and we expect first delivery of the CAT 777s in the beginning of Q3. In the interim smaller 40 ton trucks have been acquired on a rental basis for Namoya to increase tonnes moved until the larger fleet arrives."
OUTSIDE DAY FOR GOLD -- GLD1.7X VOLUME
BAA has held in there quite well and will trade higher on increasing gold prices.
Set up to be an accumulation day also (volume higher than previous day and a close higher)

Will do.
I've noticed that the shorts in this stock talk gibberish.
It's hard to convert them to bullish based on Logic (statistics and research).
Just send them the latest earnings and production reports.
They probably will not even read them.
Time & facts are on our side.
Long trade 1000 @ 19.22
Banro is all about margin!!! We have 100%+ AISC margin last Q
You're A little optimistic on the gold market in dollar terms.
Gold tends to base for long periods of time.
From 1998 to 2003 gold based around $450 that's a 5 year base.

inflation is not existent...literally
there is currently deflation in 2015

That being said gold is holding its own vs the dollar quite well.
2nd best performing currency in 2014
gold in other currencies going up. Look at the 10yr charts.
http://www.goldpriceoz.com/gold-price-europe/
last time dollar index was near 100 gold was at $450
We all make off the cuff statements.
He's typically more precise than 95%.
We all have to do our own DD, have our own foresight into the future, there's nothing wrong with asking for a little direction to the next opportunity.
I'm here to make sure I'm right about BAA, that's why I will ask Bears what they know about the company (typically not much) or if someone sounds like they know nothing about BAA, even if they are long, I try to point out why they should to read up and do the math.
the more we know the better.
US$90 Million Financing (non-dilutive)

Perhaps in your case is F is for Fagg**
Who calls themselves fabulous...
What do you know about this company?
Tell us...we're very curious what you see.
You know how to read a short term chart...
a break of a wedge/triangle/flag...
Technical trading 101.
What are your fundamental bear points.
Knowledge & Patience.
And yes some Fortitude, but the knowing this company there is a clear path to much higher prices.
Some are flipping and flopping around based on very short term technical dynamics. Perhaps it will win them a couple extra bucks... perhaps not.
Clearly it's paid big bucks to just be long.
&
The clearly trend is up and pointing to much higher prices based on all metrics, fundamental and technical.
The guess work has been taken out with the increased production and financing. And we are all getting paid well for being right and seeing the path to higher prices before the market (ie. other investors). We will continue to get paid because the path is still quite obvious to us. We have to keep in mind that some only see PPS and the recent Q without being forward looking.
Patience is difficult for many, we'd all like to see book value tomorrow. But the fact is we'll have to wait patiently, fortuitously with our knowledge and understanding watching the ebb and flow.
Keep in mind that metrics will improve dramatically with next Quarters report. Institutions are still looking at pre-financing data with the Q1 numbers. Banro may not meet their criteria based upon reported quick ratio and current ratio. Not all of the institutions can invest based upon the assumption that those numbers will be drastically changed. Even though we know that they will be vastly improved upon.

Take Me Higher - Looks like we may need the next news item to bring us above the 0.40 level.
Still under the Radar.
I would have liked to have bought more but our home was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy and were are rebuilding. Quite expensive.
We also have 4 little girls so.
We can only risk so much at this time.
Currently BAA is about 16% of my liquid assets.
It's been good to me.
Started out as 7% of liquid assets.
Still quite risky given our complicated situation.
Congratulations- you'll be quite wealthy.
If I had the capacity and time for envy you'd be at the top of my list.
Congratulations you are post #30,000 on BAA board.
You're a winner.
437,000 That's about 1/600th of the company.
You need to buy more to match me.
Hey Bo-Bo
How many shares of BAA do you own now?
I bet I'm more of a BAA bull than you are.
Obviously some aren't thorough enough to interpret a conversation properly.
Hi. Tex.
Hope your doing good.
Go BAA
Go Go...
Look at that I'm a cheerleader now.
Perhaps that's because I own 437,000 shares.
Haven't even looked into it yet.
Libertarian Statistician is pretty sharp.
And He gave lots of do your own DD warnings. I asked him what else he was looking into and He was very kind to provide some information.
I'm grateful for that.
I don't own it yet and haven't done the work on it.
But if he says it's worth a look...I'm gonna look at it.
It is not comparable to baa just on the basis of scale and it is not comparable on an AISC. If I took a position it would likely only be a fraction of that in BAA.
Also it is highly illiquid in the US and I believe the management team is not proven, and not comparable to BAA at least at first glance.
