Id say if it is a deal between Universal and Coke, its a one time deal for C&A. Other deals may be cut with Coke on other movies, but IMO Platinum has to cut their own deal and I dont think they were involved in this but that is just my opinion.
I would have loved to see a C&A pepsi can on store shelves. Hopefully Scott can negotiate something like that.
Buyout is just that: rumors and speculation for now. No one knows for sure what Scott has planned. IMO

Yes, Platinum's name is getting out there, but for some here, it is not fast enough.
Now we wait for a revs pr or some good news.
IMO
Lets hope so. Would love to see a picture deal come out of this.
IMO
Me too. Well, it should be fun for Platinum. Who knows, they may find the right script that could lead to the next movie big movie. I hope Scott also talks to some of those other execs there and spreads his card around for future contacts, maybe even a quick lead. At least a PR after the event to give us an update on it.

Cowboy Comeback
Can A New Posse Of Westerns Spur Viewers?
A Western renaissance of sorts, led primarily by the big-screen success of the 2010 Academy Award nominated film True Grit and this summer’s $96 million box-office hit Cowboys and Aliens, has helped lead several cable networks to saddle up to the Western genre with new series and shows.

Oh, I know they are working on alot of things, but it seems to be all C&A related right now. This is all we see. We still have not heard anything about any new sales of movies. Are they doing deals or working only on C&A? We dont know.
I do agree we are the last to hear about it. If we can find a good link, say James Wan said in an interview, he was starting to film in Sept (speculation) then we would at least know things are moving for that film. unfortunately, it is up to the individual companies to say when they will start production, maybe a pr or in their SEC filing, then they give Platinum the permission to go ahead and PR it, and we all know for sure.
On AR, we dont even know who the director is or which company is producing the film, no budget, cast, anything. We got no details and thats what we need.
IMO
What we hear and what we know are two different things. Nothing is in production until Platinum says so and we have not seen those prs yet. If you look at all the IMDb titles, you will see very little to no cast or crew listed, a few directors or maybe some writers listed. Of course IMBd is also not that great, their info is sometimes misleading and wrong. When we find out more, I will be the first to post it here (well maybe: some of you do good searches).
IMO
I enjoyed the movie and agree that it is great and all with all the merchandise, cash, publicity, and other things that it will bring to Platinum,
BUT
This is not a one horse town. Platinum needs to start getting off the horse and start working on other projects and showing other things in process with C&A. We have no other projects in work that I know of other than C&A related things. That is not the way a business should be run, using only one product and running with it to death. Scott needs to show diversity and enthusium that this company will succeed or all Platinum will be known for is C&A and nothing else. That will run dry eventually too.
IMO only

Digicel IMAX
The first IMAX movie-house in the Caribbean and the largest screen in the world, is definitely worth the $65 cost ($75 for 3D). I wouldn’t recommend it for an ordinary night out or a random movie viewing. For a special outing, however, I would certainly recommend it. A mind-blowing, high-definition cinematic break-through, Digicel IMAX shows their films on a 40- by 70-foot screen. The 3D is absolutely nothing like anything I’ve seen in the Caribbean and the surround-sound audio makes you feel like you’re in the movie. Cowboys and Aliens was not in 3D, but the quality was still way above the bar of any other cinema in the country.

FEEL THE DIFFERENCE Special Screenings - COWBOYS AND ALIENS!
Coca-Cola Plaza will continue to host FEEL THE DIFFERENCE special screenings this upcoming Thursday, September 1. Once again a movie fan has a chance to experience the best sound and picture quality in the city and why not in the country. The film that will be presented on the FEEL THE DIFFERENCE special screening this time is an original, gritty action-adventure „COWBOYS AND ALIENS“!
Blockbuster filmmaker Jon Favreau directs Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford in an event film for summer 2011 that crosses the classic Western with the alien-invasion movie in a blazingly original way: Cowboys & Aliens. He brings an all-new action thriller that will take audiences into the Old West, where a lone cowboy leads an uprising against a terror from beyond our world. The script is by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci (Star Trek) and Damon Lindelof (television's Lost), based on Platinum Studios' graphic novel created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg.
The FEEL THE DIFFERENCE special screenings of „COWBOYS AND ALIENS“ take place on Screen 1 of Coca-Cola Plaza on this upcoming Thursday, September 1 at 7:30 p.m. and 10:10 p.m.!
You can book or purchase tickets to these special screenings HERE (7:30 p.m.) and HERE (10:10 p.m.)
The purpose of the FEEL THE DIFFERENCE screening series is to introduce movie fans to a enhanced sound and picture quality available on Screens 1 and 2 of Coca-Cola Plaza that will turn a simple movie-going trip into a full-blown movie experience.
All those who come to the FEEL THE DIFFERENCE screening, can enjoy the sound system of the Screen 1 of Coca-Cola Plaza which means 100 decibels of sound volume, 28 kW of sound technology and 16 kW sub-woofer! This all can help turn the car chases, fire fights and explosions like the movie gods intended them to be! But this is all just empty talk and you won’t feel the difference by reading those words. You can really feel the difference when you are at a screening! So come and enjoy!
Have a great time at the movies!

Cowboys & Aliens: The Year's Most Underrated Blockbuster?
As tempting as it is to label Cowboys & Aliens a genre mashup, that path leads to confusion – which goes some ways to explaining the mixed reviews and box office performance. Viewed as a seemingly irresolvable chimera, reactions to the film are akin to the befuddlement that the Saturday Night Live’s “It’s Pat!” sketches exploited for laughs, only with less amusement and interpretive acuity. For reference, consider Firefly, a bona fide mashup of two genres that the San Francisco Chronicle’s Tim Goodman, in his review of the cult TV series, described as “alarmingly opposite.” Here we were presented with an aesthetic that jammed together Western and sci-fi tropes, leading to scenes that played out as Westerns with ray-guns and hovering vehicles. Whedon’s blending of visual vocabularies from two strongly defined genres yielded results akin to the Spanglish that comes from the meld of Spanish and English. It worked, albeit very creakily, but the show’s appeal ultimately emerged from the strong storytelling and compelling character archetypes drawn from Western rather than Science Fiction sensibilities.
Though our eyes might lead us to conclude otherwise, Cowboys & Aliens surprises as a straightforward piece of speculative fiction, positing the admittedly popcorn scenario of an alien incursion into the Wild West. Director Jon Favreau – whose cinematic instincts belong in the same class of traditional filmmaking home to the likes of Clint Eastwood, despite Iron Man 2 – understands how a film's visual presentation is as much, if not more so, a manifestation of characters and their environment than the plot itself. Although Western plots tend to emerge from moral dilemmas in the barely-there-civilization of a growing country, their nature is ultimately defined by their character of period pieces set during a particular time and place in American history. This is why Westerns have a slower style and pacing; without whiz-bang technology to provide for instantaneous long-distance communications or fast transportation, life doesn't occur at an accelerated rate.
Science fiction, for its part, is about asking “what if?” and speculating on the effects of science and technology on society. Although it’s easy to assume that science fiction is necessarily fixated on the future, there is nothing truly necessary about it and the speculation can just as easily use the 19th century as its starting point as any other. Cowboys & Aliens, then, is a science fiction story that plays out like a Western because its subject is the Wild West Era. For anyone expecting Independence Day or any other loud alien invasion movies, this may come as a disappointment; such is the influence of expectations over enjoyment of a film. Nevertheless, it would have been the hallmark of a lesser effort to squeeze familiar sci-fi and action-movie accoutrements into a Western setting to give us a spectacle that devolves from speculation to mere anachronism. As it is, we are mercifully spared the likes of a mad professor's wacky inventions suddenly made into instruments of salvation or some other steampunk affectation. After all, this isn’t The Adventures of Brisco County Jr., where such indulgences are appropriately (and effectively) encouraged.
It’s unfortunate that the fuss over the film’s identity obscures its many strengths, beginning with Favreau’s deft visuals and building up from subtle but rich character moments that might escape the attention of thrill-seekers. Harrison Ford, as a hard and ruthless rancher, gets the best of it as the story gradually builds on his character’s tender side to convincingly portray a complex man who ultimately does not live down to our initial impression. The film reminds us why Ford has been such a compelling actor, one who is far more than the sum of Indiana Jones and Han Solo. In a smaller role, Sam Rockwell gets the zero-to-hero treatment, but it persuades because we see hints of something more than meekness from the moment we are introduced. Favreau’s measured and masterful pacing lets us study the characters – or squint at them, in time-honoured Western tradition – when the dust settles and look back to see that their resolve did not emerge from a writer’s deus ex machina. The only disappointment is --
that Olivia Wilde’s role as an enigmatic woman who comes to help Craig’s amnesiac cowboy is not offered more than a tip of the hat.
And what of James Bond himself, Daniel Craig? Handsome, but not conventionally so or with the cloying style of a pretty boy, here’s an actor who has the classical presence of a Hollywood leading man, an actor’s actor, capable of layering the muscular physicality of his roles with emotional intensity and razor-sharp cleverness. Where Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull awkwardly attempted to pass a torch from Ford to Shia LeBoeuf, Cowboys & Aliens successfully presents Craig as the man who can assume Ford’s place, in his own way, within the current Hollywood generation. That’s especially good for a film that ranks as one of the year’s most misunderstood and underrated.
Cowboys & Aliens. Directed by John Favreau. Written by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, Damon Lindelof, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby. Based on Platinum Studios' “Cowboys and Aliens” by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, Adam Beach, Paul Dano, Keith Carradine. 118 minutes. Rated PG-13 (for intense sequences of Western and sci-fi action and violence, some partial nudity and a brief crude reference).

Aspiring writers and artists nationwide are invited to submit their work to Platinum Studios in the search for the hottest comic book concept - the Comic Book Challenge. According to Variety: Platinum now controls the rights to that property after a film version was initially set up at DreamWorks with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci on board to produce (they also co-produced "Cowboys & Aliens"). So the rumor here is that Atlantis Rising is not with Dreamworks any more. This info has not been confirmed by Platinum Studios in a PR.

COMPLETED MOVIES:
Cowboys and Aliens:
Blockbuster filmmaker Jon Favreau directs Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford in an event film for summer 2011 that crosses the classic Western with the alien-invasion movie in a blazingly original way: Cowboys & Aliens. Joined by an arsenal of top moviemakers-Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci-he brings an all-new action thriller that will take audiences into the Old West, where a lone cowboy leads an uprising against a terror from beyond our world.
PLOT: 1875. New Mexico Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don't welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It's a town that lives in fear. The town of Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known. Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents-townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors-all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.
The screenplay for Cowboys & Aliens is by Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman & Damon Lindelof and Mark Fergus & Hawk Ostby, from a screen story by Fergus & Ostby and Steve Oedekerk. It is based on Platinum Studios' "Cowboys & Aliens" by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. Grazer, Howard, Kurtzman, Orci and Rosenberg produce. Spielberg, Favreau, Denis L. Stewart, Bobby Cohen, Randy Greenberg and Ryan Kavanaugh executive produce.
