puzzlecraft question:
"Do they have terminals at the bar yet?"
Answer:

My Road Trip thoughts:
Nolan is a Great Speaker / Promoter.
Some Patience is Required for Proper Play.
The stock price Will be a relative effect dependent on measured and speculated results. It has been, and is Currently still floating on mostly speculation.... At this point in time, they are still dealing with the prudent process of the First uWink Location Operation.
Before they get the Real PR Pumping, AND Before they get to more locations, they clearly want the FIRST uWink to be fully gratifying to it’s customers. Remember..., they have created an "ordering/pay/play" system that has never been done before. The reason they opened with little fanfare was that the only way they could "see" what worked and what didn't, was by live fire. The overall concept goal is to generate "a great customer experience" (it’s best to test and tune before replicating such a concept in future locations). Any problems found now ("nuances" in the software) are worked through by the software guys who are dedicated and very, very smart. This is how and Why they are operating as they are, until the Official Grand Opening Event occurs. Of course some additional tuning will continue, and those adjustments will be of and serve a different purpose then the current stage…
As far as publicity, right now the traffic is all walk-by. For example, there are quite a few large office buildings very close that don't even know they exist (yet).
I myself am impressed by the amount of progress that has been made over the last 2 weeks. Wait and see what happens when they start the local PR push, which should be soon…
Note: I try to base my own trading decisions on my own DD, research, evaluation, constant re-evaluation, insight and observations. Current UWNK action is short-term price action trading in the overall scheme of things (try to think longer intervals with stock reactions with perspective to the company results and company/products potential). I believe most of the true FMV of this diverse company has yet to be priced in.
Of course, everyone else has to do their own DD, and then draw and constantly evaluate their own conclusions and then place their own bets accordingly. All just IMO (not advice), we all make (and live with) our own investment and/or trading choices. I Wish You All the best in your own investment and/or trading decisions, I've obviously made mine...
Full Disclosure: Currently Holding (Long) 80,000 UWNK Shares.

uWink Stock Exercise (for those that need it)
A friend just shared this suggested exercise for Stock Holders to build up their Confidence in holding UWNK Stock Shares throughout the Trading Week.
It's so easy, I thought I'd pass it on.
My Friend suggested doing it five times a week.
Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. Try to deal with any distractions and focus on what you are doing.
With a 5-pound potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can…
Try to reach at least a full minute, then relax.
Each day, you'll find that you can hold your position for just a bit longer.
After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-pound potato sacks.
Then use 50-pound potato sacks, and eventually try to get to where you can hold a 100-pound potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute.
After you finally feel Confident at that level,
put Some Stock Shares in each of the empty sacks.
I Know it was an exaggeration...
BUT I still liked it!
Most interesting Bushnell answer to the interviewer was
IMO: "Billions and Billions of Locations"
(yes guys - I Know it was an exaggeration)
Nice how uwink.com opens with "Now Open" Picture

uWink Casual Games
"All the games are casual. None takes longer than 2-3 minutes to play." Bushnell said. The games run toward things like trivia contests that can be played against other tables across the restaraunt and simple, cellphone style games. You won't be able to rock World of Warcraft at uWink, but that's the point.
"We want all the games to be social," Bushnell said. New content will be added all the time, whether in the form of online quizzes, rateable videos or new mini-games, so return patrons will have a different electronic experience everytime they lunch.

Casual Games get Serious
The game industry appears to have found its answer with so-called "casual games," a category of software-based entertainment that includes word and puzzle games, board games and even some classic arcade titles. While not new, the casual-games industry is enjoying a renaissance driven by advertising dollars and the ubiquity of mobile devices.
"The video game industry year after year is exceedingly good at pumping out action films," says Alexis Madrigal, an analyst at market research firm DFC Intelligence. "Casual games are a step in the direction of coming up with (the equivalent of) comedies and romantic comedies."
Casual games like "Bejeweled" and "Zuma" still don't attract much attention at the annual E3 trade show here. While people will wait for half an hour or more just to see a short trailer for big games that in some cases are months from release, casual games are little-mentioned and hard to spot on the show floor.
But what casual games lack in hipness, they make up for by being cheap to make, addictive and highly profitable.
The North American market for casual games is expected to grow from an estimated $281 million in sales this year to $1.15 billion in 2011, according to DFC. Globally, thanks to the popularity of these games in China and Korea, the market is already closing in on $1 billion in annual sales.
Traditional games appeal to a very lucrative segment for advertisers--young men--but a lot of advertisers want to reach other segments of the population. Most importantly, casual games allow advertisers to use the medium to reach women.
For example, two thirds of those playing at MSN Games are female, with RealNetworks drawing upwards of 60 percent women.
"People that don't even think of themselves as gamers are playing these games," Schutzler said.

Fast Casual Magazine
"It wasn’t long ago that you had to look up the definition of “fast casual” to understand the meaning of this unique restaurant concept that is a hybrid of the fast-food and traditional sit-down eating experiences."
"Not only is fast-casual food delivered in a fast, high-quality dining experience, but fast casuals also have been in the fast lane of growth — the entire segment is expected to exceed $70 billion in 2006, with more than 300 brands fueling a new restaurant explosion."

'Casual' attracts audience
Online business lures new gamers
Allison Linn
Associated Press
Jul. 29, 2006 12:00 AM
SEATTLE - Anyone desperate for a break from crunching numbers, minding the kids or studying for exams knows how easy it can be to find distraction in the simple brain teasing of computer games like Sudoku.
That's exactly what online game services from companies such as RealNetworks Inc. and Electronic Arts Inc. are banking on. As more people get hooked on playing such "casual games" online, providers are seeking better ways to make money off the phenomenon.
"The challenge has really been monetizing that audience and getting them to pay for it," said David Cole of research firm DFC Intelligence.
Defined as easy-to-learn, one-player games that someone can play for five minutes or five hours, casual games are alluring to companies in part because they tend to attract women and people 35 and older. That's quite a different audience from the young men traditionally associated with video consoles and other types of computer games.
The business also is attractive because, if the right sales model is found, companies say it can be highly profitable.
That's especially true for those who produce the games in-house, and then easily and cheaply can modify them for multiple countries and languages.
"A few things are wonderful about the games business," said Rob Glaser, chief executive of Seattle-based RealNetworks, whose casual-games division represented 21 percent of the company's overall revenue in the first quarter of this year.
One big challenge is that many of the games are available free.
To make money, companies are trying out a number of ideas, including embedding advertising into free games, selling all-you-can-play memberships devoid of ads and using free trials to entice people to purchase downloadable versions.
"There's been a lot of trying everything to see what tracks, to see what works, a lot of experimentation," said Anita Frazier, an industry analyst with NPD Group.
Still, many expect the business of selling casual games online to only get stronger.
DFC Intelligence estimates that revenues from casual games worldwide will grow to $953 million this year, from $713 million last year, after steadily rising from $228 million in 2002.

Nolan Bushnell’s Rules for Social Games
uWink is creating a new genre of video games – what we call Social Games. They differ dramatically from today’s video games and have different constructs and rules that need to be followed to create them.
Bottom line: It is death of the complex controller, as uWink puts the power back in people’s hands!
Nolan’s Rules for Social Games:
1) The game must increase or stimulate conversation not stifle it.
2) The games must cross gender and age. Can Grandpa and his 8 year old daughter play and have fun? If not, then it isn’t a social game.
3) The rules of the game need to be immediately perceived.
4) Games must “fail soft” The worst player in the room must not be made to feel stupid. (Losers have a score of 89 — winners have a score of 99.)
5) The game controller must be as easy to use as a fork.
6) The intensity of the game can not override the social atmosphere – NO GAME ZOMBIES.
7) In longer games there must be breaks for food, drink ordering or non game activities.
8) Games must be “classy” or funny. Not coarse or vulgar.
9) Construct the game so that something in the game can be learned, so that next time their score improves.

It's Good to read you Sir Brian.
I too started small, with 3K - 6K,
which has magnified a bit from there.
(and still can't seem to stop buying it)
As I said, I get that there are a few real folks here. I too believe that this OP has Grand Potential to it and I too have wagered a fair sum of $$$ based on my own DD and also the past & present insight / knowledge of a few select close friends of mine (friends that have been in on other stocks, along with me).
Perhaps this is some folk's first (perhaps their only) stock experience (and I should consider that thought in reading the majority of the posting here...). I have been playing stock / market chess since my 20's and will be reaching 32 years of the grand game come next month... will try to be more tolerant in my subsequent posting... (...perhaps...).
Have known the uWink story for over 1 1/2 years, and it's tough for me to grasp the pure lack of patience some people have with UWNK, now that the uWink money train is finally rolling and picking up steam, but all the tracks have yet to be laid...
Kids-R-Us OR Real Players Here?
WAS Curious if the majority here are bored kids, or Real Players in uWink.
After reading the board messages for awhile now, have a fair feel as to who is really into the stock and who is not… Seems there are only a Few Real Players posting here, which is a shame, as I had hoped for some more serious uWink players to be posting on this board.
Personally, I am quite serious about uWink, and am interested in what some others have to share from time to time (like Rawnoc for one, WHEN He wants to tell the board). Am not so keen on sifting through some others every odd or random thought that apparently must be expressed to the board as it occurs to them…. Jeeezzzzz
Couple of Personal Points I shall share.
For All you characters that feel you have to call the Restaurant to hear background noise or ask how many people are presently there… give it a rest already. If you do not know what you are into, spend some time & money if needed (and do some DD of your own) and find out. Why the hell you are bothering / hindering the uWink staff (that is working for your own Indirect benefit) is beyond any investors reasoning.
For all you folks that Do Not seem to understand that this stock price is Not going straight up daily or regularly to please your base interests and to grant you instant $$$ gratification. - Please either learn how this game is played or stay the hell away from stocks (for your own, and also our well being). We all must have had enough of the WTF is going on (regarding ten cents to a quarter movement) posts already…
For all you posters playing with scared money or your life savings or just monopoly money. I sure hope you know what you are doing… But hardly any of the rest of us really want to read that you are in panic or praying mode now, or again 10 minutes from now. Telling the board over and over about your fear really makes us want to skip your future posts.
For all you people that have something to say Regarding uWink itself – THANK GOD!
Now – Chill Out, it’s not a Market Day, it’s Sunday. Do something fun and come back tomorrow at 9:25am when the Market is about to open. Meanwhile Please Chill Out, uWink has a long way to go and it’s not getting there real soon, they just opened up ya know? The Grand Opening of the restaurant is Only the first XL step in the overall process. The Real-Time Calculators have yet to be turned on at this point. Providing that their gross 'take' is near (or better) their yearly CC projections (which can be initially calculated / fairly estimated from the average weekly gross over Some Weeks of actual operation) then the stock in turn will respond accordingly... When they figure out what they really have to deal / work with, then additional expansion plans will likely follow later on after that tme. Until then board buds, expecting mojo growth or any thing but rationed effects on the stock price is just wishful thinking (unless a S-Load of heavy hitters show up suddenly one afernoon).
I myself will be around Tomorrow looking to add 6,000 shares more to my 69K. What better point can I make that really says how I feel about uWink stock shares.
FWIW: When I first posted on 9/25/06, I was holding 28,000 UWNK shares. I purposely then posted subsequent Buy’s amount and price just before each trade, and a Filled Note right after each trade so any Real Players would know (by checking time & sales if you cared to) that I was not one of the typical Full of BS message board posters you always find everywhere…, as this boards members could see my Long stock position grow to it’s current 69,000 UWNK shares. – This was the simple point to that posting, nothing more.
Note: I try to base my own trading decisions on my own DD, research, evaluation, constant re-evaluation, insight and observations. Current UWNK action is short-term price action trading in the overall scheme of things (try to think longer intervals with stock reactions with perspective to the company results and company/products potential).
