LOL! I like that idea! Problem is a win this week would put me in great position to almost be guaranteed a playoff spot.
MINE TOO darn it! If I were a Cubs Fan, I would be SKILLZ mad at Maddon for continuing to play the over the hill Zobrist over Happ. Maddon's reasoning is Happ's slump, but even in his slump, he was hitting better than Zobrist and fields far better at every position than Zobrist.
I screwed myself in my fantasy league this week. Did not realize Cubs were facing five lefties, which means Schwarber probably only gets one start. Happ hits lefties better than Zobrist, but Maddon is doing his Mets' Manager impression and playing the over the hill Zobrist over him. Avi Garcia is going on rehab assignment, so probably only gets 3 maybe 4 starts this week and I picked up Taylor instead of Fowler, thinking Taylor better player for rest of season, but not coming off DL until later this week with Fowler off today.
For now, I am thinking of rolling with Happ and crossing my fingers????
I have hit 17 and 12 and both times Altuve went hitless to end me??????
LOL! I am actually excited about this year's preseason for my Bears! Have a couple of exciting rookies I want to see, along with our new QB's.
Can someone tell me just when our sportswriters became blinded by Liberalism? Argue as you may back and forth if Kaepernick should be on an NFL team this year, but please keep Miami out of the equation! I just spent the past couple of hours listening to the local Chicago geniuses talk about how Kaepernick would have been a better fit for Miami than Jay Cutler????? Can someone tell me just how it would be a good idea to put an ardent Fidel Castro supporter in as the QB for a team that happens to be in a city with the USA's largest Cuban Exile population that risked life and limb to escape his oppressive regime????? I was screaming at my car radio like a mad man there!
Like I said, argue point counterpoint for any other city, but to suggest him for Miami is just pure stupidity!
If Frazier can get back to where he was a couple of weeks ago, he will get his time for sure! Love the comment when Giradi was asked about him and he called him a "Tool Shed"! You know they love his talent, but he has to be producing in a pennant race.
I am a bit worried about Frazier right now. I need him at least for this week, but would love to have the Frazier of a couple of weeks ago in my lineup! With Holiday still down, should be OK for now.
Hicks should be about ready to come up. This may be a way to give Frazier a chance to break out of his recent funk? If he does not soon, he may lose his PT. Yesterday was a good start.
NO, it is a real cluster F there in NY! The only thing I do know is if they do not play Rosario every day, they know they would be burnt at the stake, so he will get his time. Other than that, impossible to tell!
Got gun shy about adding another Met after the Flores debacle earlier this season. Went with Hoskins for now. While Joseph may be in front of Hoskins, Mets, unless they trade Bruce, Reyes and Flores may put Smith in a time share as well. Joseph has been slumping again a bit, so if Hoskins comes up and explodes on the scene, there is a chance he dominates play at 1B for a wiser Phillies team, as they know he is the future if he can perform.
Lee, let's put a qualifier on that statement!
The Sox are starting to hit
Stash D. Smith, or R. Hoskins?

WOW! This Devers kid is something special! Just threw Hawk Harrelson for a loop with that HR. Hawk was calling it, "High pop up, well long pop up, wow, it is out of here! This kid has some kind of power!" Paraphrased a bit, but still fun to watch!
He was already never getting in with Baltimore! As soon as Ozzie and Harbaugh started talking about the possibility, the fan base flooded Baltimore's owner with threats to walk away from supporting the team!
It was amusing seeing the sportswriters immediately link him to Miami though!
How long before we can start calling Rosario "Mr. Triple"????
Darn! I was wanting to see the mayhem if Dolphins were dumb enough to bring on Kaepernick! That could have turned scary, as Ex-Cubans do not take kindly to Castro lovers!
That is why they are talking about Kaepernick.
Ridiculous was the called 3rd strike to Schwarber to end the Cubs game last night!
While Flores may walk a few times less than Rivera, his overall line is better than Rivera's and being a real prospect, should have had the playing time in front of him:
Rivera: BA .290 OBP .330 Slug .430 OPS .760
Flores: BA .284 OBP .319 Slug .480 OPS .799
Most people will look at Slugging and OPS as the two most important stats and Flores has him by a longshot in both of those categories.
The Flores situation is mind boggling! It looked like this former top prospect was starting to have a breakout season at 25, which is where many prospects finally get it, yet The Mets have seemingly done everything in their power to prevent the breakout??????
Talk about train wreck waiting to happen! Hopefully Miami's ownership is smart enough to realize Kaepernick proudly wore shorts celebrating Castro to press conferences last year? Can you imagine bringing that bum into a city that holds the largest population of Cubans that risked life and limb to escape Castro?????
ESPN's Josina Anderson reports free agent Colin Kaepernick's "name was raised" in the Dolphins' front office as a potential Ryan Tannehill (knee) contingency.
Per Anderson, the Dolphins have discussed Kap as "potential insurance" in case Tannehill's knee injury proves to be serious. Kap would not start over Matt Moore. No matter how serious the talks actually were, it's notable the Dolphins' front office is already putting out a Kap trial balloon. Of course, it could also be Kap's team trying to put pressure on the Ravens to make a decision.

If it makes you feel better, I am starting to get a little riled with Hahn here in Chicago. Pelfrey clearly cannot last more than 3-4 innings before he tires out. Time to move him to the bullpen and see how he does in relief. While Hahn has said he does not want to rush anyone to the majors, he needs to start slowly working in our young arms. Reynaldo Lopez is going through the type of streak right now where he is primed to be called up. Last five starts he has a 2.10 ERA, 38 KO's and a WHIP just above 1. He at least right now seems to have solved his control issues and is clearly the most ready of our young arms to get a shot. It really would be nice to get him up, which would allow them to move Kopech to AAA to continue his progression as well!
I am all for you sweeping my White Sox this weekend! We need to get below Philly and San Fran for that top pick! I will start worrying about winning next year when more of our future is up!
As a side note, Hope Devers goes off on our pitching this weekend!
AGREED! There are a few umps out there that seem to want to taunt the players into altercations and that is getting tiresome!
Also made a very nice diving catch of a line drive. He should be fun to watch he rest of the way. Now, why is Smith not up this week too? If they plan on contending next year and having both of these players as part of that, they should be learning the ropes now.
I wonder what the ruling on Bird would be if he came up and lit it up in September? Technically he is on the DL, but wouldn't it be Minor League DL? IF so, I do not think Bird could qualify for the post season.
Frazier needs to kick his batting back into overdrive with Hicks getting ready for his rehab assignment!
It begins! The Revocable Waiver Dance is just getting started. Fun to watch every year. Skillz has to be watching ever so closely for Bruce, Grandy, Reyes and Cabrera to hit!
Peter Gammons of GammonsDaily.com reports that the Braves have placed Jim Johnson and R.A. Dickey on revocable trade waivers.
It's a common thing this time of year and waiver trades are sometimes difficult to pull off, but these two players could very well be moved if the right pieces fall into place. Johnson, 34, holds a 4.09 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 52/16 K/BB ratio over 44 innings this season as the Braves' closer. He is under contract for $5 million in 2018. Dickey, 42, has a 4.08 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 21 starts. He carries an $8 million club option for 2018.

The lack of interest in Bruce was more to do with current fit with the main contenders. His skills really were not what was needed by any to "put them over the top". Melky has a different skill set as a switch hitter and history with KC that made him a fit there. I guess if it were not for the super rooks this year in the OF and Bellinger at 1B in LA, Bruce would have been highly coveted. That said, I would bet he is going on waivers any minute now and should a contender have an OF injury, you may end up getting far more for him than you think. If not, then at least make him the offer, so worst case you get a 2nd round sandwich pick.
And Reed thanked Boston by giving up a dinger to Carlos! BTW, Rosario just had his first hit.
Makes no sense.
OK then, so while Choo's .361 OBP will pay anywhere, Rutherford with just under a .350 OBP is a flop? Anyway, as I was stating, Choo with his $21M Contract is an albatross with his numbers. What he is producing is not what the Rangers are paying for by a long shot.
He is getting worse by the season.
Any word if Calhoun will get a crack at it this year? Would say he could replace Choo, but that albatross of a contract is only beat by The Yankees' Ellsbury Fiasco!
Moncada escapes with only a bruised knee and will probably miss a couple of days.
Well, the voters disagree with you. While Kershaw won with a sub 2.00 ERA, Verlander had a higher ERA than Sale currently has.
Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander (pictured) had a season to remember in 2011, throwing a career-high 251 innings, winning a career-best 24 games, striking out a career-high 250 batters, and compiling a career-low 2.40 ERA. That was enough to beat out Jacoby Ellsbury and Jose Bautista for the AL MVP.
Moncada had to be carted off tonight after a collision with Willy Garcia. Moncada's knee hit Willy in the head. Hoping it is just bruised and they are being cautious. Looked like it hit Willy on the skull at full speed though, so it could be worse than it looked.
