Anyone know of any company(s) that provide temporary housing, after watching considerable footage of the Katrina devastation it is easy to see there are thousands of homes that are inhabitable. And most of the motels, hotels etc. sustaining tremendous damage there is no place for these people to go.
The water damage is incredible, even 3 to 4 feet of water gets into the electrical wiring with in a home making in unsafe. And from what they are showing up till now, most people will have no place to go to work for months.
IPII, certainly getting some attention from Katrina..em
If there is major damage to this there could be some very serious problems.........the link at the bottom gives more info.
LOUISIANA OFFSHORE OIL PORT
Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP) is the only offshore oil terminal in the United States. It is located 18 miles off the coast of Louisiana in 115ft of water in the Gulf of Mexico. It allows for the safe offloading of tankers too large for inland ports.
From the offshore platform, the crude oil is then transported to shore at Port Fourchon by a 48in. pipeline. The crude is then pumped inland 25 miles to underground salt caverns, which have a capacity of 40 million barrels. From storage, five connecting pipelines tie LOOP to over 30% of United States refining capacity.
LOOP transports approximately one million barrels of foreign oil a day and approximately 300,000 barrels of domestic crude from Gulf of Mexico OCS. LOOP is estimated to take in 13% of the United States imported crude.
This link gives a lot of info. as to what is in that area and under the gun....

yup now that you mention that mirror I recall it. My Dad was a Mopar mechanic/body man all his life, well actually about 45 years of it. The dealership (garage) was about 3/4 of a mile from where I grew up, so I was down there quite often from the time I could walk.
One of the coolest things was when the new models were coming out. The cars were shipped by train to a freight depot about 4 miles from the garage. Three or four of the employees would go there to unload them, they were in box cars so no one could see them. After unloading they would cover them with what I recall as being a tarp, covering the whole car wthin a few inches of the ground. In the tarp was a slot where the driver would look through the windshield (windscreen) and they would return to the garage under a vail of secrecy. Back than the new models were kept as secret as possible and all dealers reveled them on a certain date.
And I got to ride in them and see them before most of the world, Wow was I a kid with a secret or what...LOL
Back than as you know you could climb in with the engine close the hood to keep the rain off and do a complete motor job.
When those guys did a motor job "they" did it, honing the cylinders, grinding and seating the valves and much of it by hand. I still have most of my dads tools and the one and only tool box I ever knew him to have. They repaired and fixed, today it is remove and replace.
Enough rambling,
That Pic just brought back some memories and I had been meaning to ask you about your car.
Thanks,
eagle, nice move.....em

New Automatic High Beams Illuminate Age-Old Safety Concern
8/23/2005 5:06:30 AM
ZEELAND, Mich., Aug 23, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Admit it, you've done it too. At one time or another, you've accidentally left your high beams "on," only to blind another driver and find yourself "flashed" as you pass the oncoming vehicle. The experience is enough to make you hesitant to use your high beams the next time you drive at night.
(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20050823/NYFNSY01-a
http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20050823/NYFNSY01-b )
But a new, intelligent high-beam control system recently introduced on several new Chrysler and Jeep vehicles is about to change all that. Known as SmartBeam(TM), the system uses a microprocessor and tiny camera-on-a-chip to automatically turn your high beams on and off according to surrounding traffic conditions.
"High beams are one of the must underutilized safety features on vehicles today," said Garth Deur, executive vice president of Gentex Corporation, the company that invented SmartBeam. "Whether it's out of fear of blinding other drivers, annoyance at constantly turning them on and off, or just plain forgetfulness, studies show that drivers use their high beams less than 25 percent of the times in which conditions justify their use. SmartBeam optimizes forward visibility by automating high-beam usage, essentially eliminating this age-old safety concern."
During nighttime driving, SmartBeam's camera acquires images directly ahead of the vehicle. If it's dark enough and no other vehicles are present, the system automatically turns on your high beams. When it detects other vehicles' headlamps or tail lamps, SmartBeam returns the headlamps to their low-beam state.
Gentex believes SmartBeam can go a long way toward making nighttime driving safer.
well I'll admit I'm still sitting on my brvo @ .82
21stcentury, If I recall the 14 mil was related to the 81 mil shares that CCE was going to purchase in the original deal.
Right now IMO everything would be pure speculation. I think we just have to wait for the "final" deal to be announced.
I will not be surprised if the pps drops,
one thing I have learned is not to try to out think market sentiment especially in the penny stocks.
Baidu.com gives quarterly outlook
By Bambi Francisco, MarketWatch
Last Update: 6:23 PM ET Aug. 23, 2005
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Chinese Internet company Baidu.com said late Tuesday that it expects sales of as much as $10 million in the third quarter.
Baidu (BIDU: news, chart, profile) , a search engine that just went public and ballooned to a market valuation of roughly $5 billion, said it expects to generate between $9.6 million and $10 million in the current quarter. This would represent growth of as much as 151% above last year's sales, but only 19% from the previous quarter.
The company offered its outlook at the same time that it released its first earnings report since going public earlier this month, at $27 a share.
In the report, Baidu reiterated its second-quarter results, which were first publicized in the company's prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Baidu said it estimates that it generated a total of $8.4 million in total sales in the second quarter, up 53% from $5.5 million during the previous quarter. The rise was due to a "substantial increase" in online marketing sales, Baidu indicated.
The company also anticipates that it earned $1.5 million in net income, up 384% from a profit of $300,000 in the first quarter of 2005.
Baidu ended Tuesday's regular trading session at $82, up 12%. But shares fell slightly in after-hours action, partly due to concerns the third quarter isn't as robust as some investors would like.
The third-quarter outlook suggests a growth rate of 19% quarter over quarter, down from 53%. See Net Sense: Baidu's wake-up call.
Either Baidu's business is decelerating quickly, or the company is being conservative. For the full year, Baidu is expected to earn 42 cents a share on sales of $32 million in net revenue this year.
While Baidu is often compared with search giant Google (GOOG: news, chart, profile) , the Chinese search firm has only a small percentage of the revenue and net income that the Silicon Valley Internet company did when it went public last year.
According to iResearch, the number of online-search users in China is projected to grow from 115 million in 2005 to 187 million in 2007, as cited in Baidu's IPO prospectus. Total online marketing revenue in China would amount to approximately $130 million in 2004, according to a study by IDC.
"The paid search market is expected to be the fastest-growing segment of online marketing in the Asia-Pacific region (excluding Japan) through 2007," Baidu.com said in its IPO filing.
Redskins,Snyder,Six Flags, Bravo could they flow together?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hmmm, wishful thinking on my part,
Lets see.....
1. Bravo (shelf stable Flavored milk) makes deal with Redskins
2. Dan Snyder owns Redskins...........
4. Snyder Seeks Control of Six Flags (pks) Board
Rooky say's....
"He's pretty much a marketing genius and has proven that again and again over his short lived self made business carreer"
excerpt from the PKS pr.
"Snyder and his investment firm, Red Zone LLC, also disclosed a plan to acquire a total of up 34.9 percent of the company's outstanding shares, subject to conditions that include the selection of Snyder as Six Flags' chairman"
and...........
"Shortly after Snyder's disclosure, Cascade Investment LLC, the >>>investment vehicle for Microsoft Corp. co-founder Bill Gates,"As of June 30 this year, Cascade Investment reported holding 10.2 million Six Flags shares. Snyder's group has reported holding 10.9 million shares."
PKS outstanding shrs.........93,110,000
Snyder looking to get.........39.4%=32,495,390
Cascade Investment LLC................10,210,600
.............................................._____________
...............................................42,705,990=45.875%
Hmmm....just 5% shy of controlling interest
So again, wishful thinking and a bit far fetched.........
Could Bravo's flavored milk flow to a family oriented theme park overseen by a marketing genius !?!?
Now I wonder who supplies soft drinks to six flags,
tinyurl.com/6zmja
And yes soft drinks are being pushed out of favor by the Federal Government, as unhealthy to our country's youth.
Arnold Schwarzenegger looking to ban soda in schools...a trend moving across the country.

Just wishful thinking..........
Photon, sorry thought all had that link, also notice in the drop down that it changes at 4 pm from yesterday to today.
PLAY, interesting, insiders bailing and yet IBD shows it as where the big money is flowing, supposedly a good sign.
Looks like the insiders in PLAY don't have much confidence, insider selling is high over the last 3 months. From the looks most have few shares left, even JP Morgan is bailing
and recent awards and options do not come close to equaling the selling.

downtime, yes agree, but at least two of these selloffs I have been involved in flipping to gain shares.
Am I correct in that, amount of shares traded (shown) actually is divided by two (seller/buyer)?
I'm also assuming that many had held on from the earlier stages.
I dunno just thinking out loud.....

downtimepg, PANC do you have a bottom in mind, and a possible bounce?
eagle, BIDU, I do now, hope you got some, good thought..em
mypointz,
When and if the deal is finalized there (imo) most certainly will be a spike as long as the agreement is not a total disaster to the brvo shareholders. How high the initial spike might go I have no idea.
After the initial move and the terms of the deal are digested, I look for it to settle around 1.80- 2.00, than as cce gets going on their end the stock may move accordingly.
The things that I think Bravo has going for it is
1. cce's recognition
2. shelf stable product
3. schools looking to find other products to replace soft drinks, and here it would be great if they could come up with an even healthier product, less fat etc.

Eagle, agree with your statement "When stocks trading in the .0000s go crazy, I think that the market is a little frothy"
To say the least
This is the way I recall the L. B. report
July 14, 2005
Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE - $22.16) 1-Overweight
Company update
Broadening the Portfolio
This morning CCE acquired options to buy shares of Bravo Foods (BRVO-not rated-$1.25) with the intent of purchasing a majority stake and gaining master distribution rights. While this is a relativity small ($38 million) total investment from a financial point of view (our estimates remain unchanged), we view it as a positive for CCE & the Coke system to enter an emerging category at such an early stage- an exceptionaly rare occassion. We view this move as a symbolic gesture that the red system is willing to step up and broaden it's product & delivery portfolio into potentionly fast growing new catorgories using more creative delivery platforms. Coming on the heels of the distribution agreement with Rockstar (an energy drink), we are increasingly confident that management is finnaly taking action after years of apathy.
While it is still premature to assess the numbers,we estimate BRVO will generate revenues in excess of $17 million (an estimated 1.5 million unit cases) this year 2005 and about $90 million (7.7 million cases) in 2006 based on planned capacity additions. While this is not a huge number for CCE, it is an emerging category (shelf stable dairy), with health and wellness attributes and precious little coke-drink channel penetration (which CCE brings to the table). Importantly, BRVO already has an FDA approved co-packer, which would be a long and expensive process if undertaken independently by CCE. BRVO currently has 14 SKUs, but the majority of revenue is generated from 3 Masterfoods licensed brands--3 Musketeers, Milky Way, and Starburst. That explains why KO is not participating in this particular deal (as CCE will take the Slammers brand, for now) We would note that the total dairy/milk category is $11.3 billion, the shelf stable dairy-based drinks category is barely 1/20th that size--with estimated total retail sales of $563 million in 2004 (a 16% jump over 2003 sales)
Clearly, xxxxxx xxxxxxxx does and seeks to do business with companies covered in its research reports. As a result, investors should be aware that the Firm may have a conflict of interest that could affect the objectivity of this report.
'Been_Burned_Before' , How very true,
"Isn't it interesting that you never hear any members of the Bravo management team complain about what's happening to the stock price in the short-term. In fact, I think the seemingly unbearable silence is just about as good as having Roy Warren say what kamoa has said - namely this":
"the numbers will speak for themselves, that the company is doing what we set out to do."
