is that normal to release some kind of bullet point findings? terrible, sloppy work if you ask me, his interns must have written this up for him at the last minute--
The company as executed on its plan and is doing so...there's no need to change the model...it hold key licenses with many very large companies including Apple, yes Apple and other, they resort to litigation to move companies to license and it has worked that way in the past--and the last I looked so does most companies in the world---
simply a win on all counts in fantasy, it doesn't mean the patents are not any good--it probably means the legal interns for ALJ Shaw who did 80% of the work , I'm sure have Zero understanding in these matters---and this will be appealed...or the commission will over turn----
what about generating some public response to the ruling on behalf of US citizens seeing our courts used by foreign corporations and their legal quagmires to delay and defer fair rates for US Owned technology..NOKIA especially....some better writers , write the letters we print them and bombard the ITC and its oversight committee in congress for 2 mo....daily they get letters---
Every member of the commission....
Every respondent is a foreign corporation..makes me sick
Then Nokia as the b-lls to ask A US commission to stop another foreign corporation for selling in USA...
Management is ahead of this one, I predict, they will file another investigation on the LTE patents very soon against the same....they are proactive in having a conf call, on Tuesday...my guess, Monday to conference with legal team to see what went wrong----any case, risk-----we all knew..
NONE of this potential $$ would have been realized for 10-12 mo anyway---or longer, so the $$ impact is nil...for now...
I think we have to take magment at their word, they are driving this company, sorry we don't , nor do a few very active shareholders--simply mgment believes they can create $800mil in licensing revenue over time..Time may get pushed out but they set a target-BM said he thinks is not a win all, they don't have to win ALL, but ONE ,ONE will move the others to settle--the Nokia remand is one we could WIN any day...this latest deal moves from claims construct to prior art defense, you can rest assured this will be challenged...most would discount Nokia now ever paying us a "penny", and the endless legal avoidance with them has shown it--so you have others, but ONE if it cracks , the others go----Nokia has written the book on avoidance and delay for the others, and offering a last minute prior art defense is shameless----
its an initial determination, remember there's more to come, there's 4 cases no , plus the Federal Cases , the prior art will be challenged on the one patent, only need to win one--none of these companies contributed a dime to IDCC in the past several years, the upside is ALL OURS, we win money, they defend getting to sell phones without paying IDCC for NOW---I still say we are on the offense---
hang tight, story is sill in tact...
"If for whatever reasons we do not prevail and when you think about litigation we don't need to win everyone we will just need to win one against someone. But if it were to go against us then it becomes a timing issue. Then you have to restart litigation." BM CEO IDCC source Barclay's, you have to win ONE....
Friday's a terrible day to take medical test, a terrible day to get a convoluted ITC ruling, the conf call , why Tuesday? is that to digest the ruling? Any day the other Nokia could put all this to bed....friends, investors---I can make just as strong of case for this company today , before and after the ruling....LG , we are not sure what's going on but something is or will happen...and you can rest assured this ruling of , valid and not infringed will be challenged...we all have time on our side--BM said we just need to win ONE---
Leak, and no postings on the EDIS, so a law firm leaked this before it was posted on the EDIS? amazing? we don't have any postings of the ruling on the EDIS as of this time---?
so the LG settlement is it just sloppy journalism or did they settle-----the Nokia remand is our ace in the hole--if that patent holds the entire chain of domino's start to fall...NM said we only have to be right in ONE case---ONE---
How do they make this up "LG Settled" with no source?
its in the reuters:
This could save the day Monday
LG Electronics had been named in the original complaint but settled with InterDigital.
yea, they must be confused....so round 1, is over, is it a lot of over reaction---as always--well all, this was one sad day for justice--its hard to see how Nokia should ever prevail in our court system--
for sure
wasn't the ZTE addition added during the SA like in Sept? and someone's suggestion?
IDC reports sales of phones in China: http://tinyurl.com/oc6jbzm so when does China Mobile give up the stand alone standard for more universal standard? 97mil phones in 1 qtr is amazing
yea, let justice roll like a mighty river--Nokia is headed to be "one of us" they are headed to sell, Jettison or trade the handset business and become a NPE--I predict---IDCC could be a key play for them to make this transaction---they cannot continue to burn cash making handsets in the 5% market share range---simply will not fly---
Controversial would mean a Chinese company involved, what's the source of the MA tweet?
Burning Platform: strange that Elop has called a board meeting for Nokia on a "Burning platform" this year, it did so much for moral the last time he used the metaphor...carp will be served
since Microsoft/Nokia are in some way "together" remember that Msft has an investment in Barnes and Nobles NOOK--this news today should be a reminder that building technology products sold at zero margin is not for the faint at heart: http://tinyurl.com/oskdb2u, Amazon has yet to face its "Lisa" moment--they are buried in the Utah desert under sand and rock today---they will have a Lisa moment--
This Nook was a $150mil flush for MSFT---
Good Buddy, that's a good thought---it would be---MSFT is in somewhat of a problem if they don't get a mobile strategy going pretty fast--Apple is about to make big inroads into gaming, which MSFT has been all over for years---I think the Apple TV could well be a game console for game apps---and the mobile devices would provide a lot of innovation around what you could do with them---
this would be great for IDCC to be in this space with MSFT--we are in it with Sony---but the more the "Money'r"
Your right, but they are joined at the hip to Microsoft and all our roads lead to Microsoft, having their phones banned in USA would certainly get a call from Redmond--washing a $1billion investment down with Balmer juice would cook his Balmer--he's about cooked as well--the Media is playing up the Microsoft is up 25% this year, of course anything the Media can do to bash Apple they love it--my guess Microsoft will have to get this one cleared up--the phone investment will go to zero value if they get a ban order------
Eloft would be forced into perpetual unemployment for life in Finland---at about 90% of his current pay--and dining on carp soup all his days---
For them to lose the USA market now would be the final straw---
so lets hope they settle this thing soon
thanks, It is a very good...these are different days for the legal profession.... we should be getting a better rate and we should be having an outside firm audit the bills....my question was pretty straightforward, do we have an outside entity that audits our legal bills?
Interesting how they lived off GM/Lehman for a few years on the remains--cleaning them up--huge fees--off the back of shareholders..not bond holders or banks---at the end...the secured pay lawyers to clean up the mess and send them a check..the last thing anyone wants to do is get their hands in it---
Nokia's problems just beginning: http://tinyurl.com/kcdgj6a or about to come to a head...I hope we get some $$$ or patents from them before they dive off the plateform--
you know the story, there's m2m, we are entering the full global marketplace for high bandwidth smartphones or whatever we end up calling them, devices...m2m has not been factored in since the market doesn't exist yet---I believe they're conservative , and the suits we have show that they are not going to license the IP for pennies anymore--the Sony deal is inception and will grow....I could throw out some valuation number but what do I know or anyone else-----there's a certain amount of chance in this game---I would hate to hold for 2 decades and miss the biggest 3-4 yrs ahead of us---hope is desire plus expectation, so hope in the fullest sense is what we need....
these are the days that the zombies rule the market, they manipulate with longs, shorts, options , fears---amazing how this game works--and the mice who play
Good ones, like the big book that codifies mental disease we need one for the legal troll profession, when they get in the book they are fair game---that's why China is going to be harder and harder to compete with, we're wasting valuable resources on all this crap, look at how much pNokia has wasted on its C-P--here in our case---of course its the way the "system" works---
Rick Perry here in Texas limited mal practice to $250,000, guess what---more claims and more pay offs---easier to pay than court--and insurance companies just spread the risk---
been proven that limits like this cost more than jury awards--sure there's a few crazy 4million dollar hot coffee's but very few----
I agree, there's going to be no limits on lawsuits in this country, in fact Universities are turning out more lawyers today that can't find a job...but that's not stopping them, government loans are backing them up......what is the difference from a:
Traffic Troll
Insurance Troll
Nursing home Troll
Medical Mal practice Troll
WorkersComp Troll
Somebody Done somebody Wrong Troll
Breast Implant Troll
Asbestos Troll
like Bill Gates wearing a Zune labeled jacket the other day..I wonder how many they have in storage?...this is not the PC world and they are totally out of step with the way the world works in mobile--given a few months and MSFT would have missed the Internet-
We had a license , Oh its expired, Oh lets arbitrate, same song, lets end this endless dance---come On Nokia if you'd like others to play by the rules start playing by the rules---only fair---if they....fail to do this, they can kiss their patent license program good bye--others can hire the same legal teams---
The stock woke up, someday , someday my friend, the shareholder since 1982, I applaud you my friend, hang tough--our best days are ahead of us---
what does Nokia have on Ford?
thanks for the great report---I find this interesting "We have only sued 6 companies in our history" pNokia would account for 50% of our legal bills, I'm sure, and they must have some huge ones---
what was the fiasco with Moto?
Great job, high fives--
see any lawyers? my question, do we use an outside legal bill auditing service?
Clontz reminding us what they are doing for us,
I wonder how many are there? the crowd appears subdued, Facebook crowd was not, they UNLIKED Zuckerburg
Great
any good questions---?
Finish treats? Frozen fish soup from Finland---our legal firms should provide caviar for the ASM as much as we spend with them---?
Freebies at the ASM? do they giveaway signed autographed copies of our patents at the ASM or some shirts/hats/pins? food? anyone going--show the spoils---
