A few sources described some problems for Mike Johnson’s potential run for speaker in a post-Emmer world: two Louisianans in leadership, he’s already in leadership (right doesn’t like this) and moderates might flinch at some of his policy preferences.
Well- now that Trump has sent out his tweet attacking Emmer:
@JakeSherman
House Republicans are minutes from convening here in Longworth for yet another closed door meeting.
Emmer’s bid for speaker is just a few hours old — but it’s on the ropes.
Will he drop here? Stay in and try to wait out the night?
Even emmer allies, supporters and insiders think his candidacy is over.
Yes. She banned Latinx from state documents and she also banned what she called "woke words"

IT'S OFFICIAL -- Roll-call vote is over. 26 House Republicans said they would vote for someone else besides Tom Emmer for speaker on the floor.
A gigantic pool of nos.
..............................................
Looks like another goat rodeo upcoming.
maybe- but since Emmer did vote to overturn the election, it's not too likely.
CNN —
In the aftermath of the 2020 election, Tom Emmer, a leading Republican candidate to be speaker of the House, baselessly said there were “questionable” practices in the 2020 presidential election.
Later, Emmer signed an amicus brief in support of a last-ditch Texas lawsuit seeking to throw out the results in key swing states.
Though he would vote to certify the results on January 6, 2021, the comments and actions show Emmer flirted with some of the same election denial rhetoric as far-right members of the Republican caucus.

Interesting question, isn't it? I would have thought that he might go down with the ship, but he might not want to go to jail for the rest of his life.

I have no idea. Is there a way for them to pay someone to take the Bar exam for them?? Or bribe someone to give them a passing grade?

Not surprising. Only thing they actually know how to do is "obstruct" and not having a speaker certainly accomplishes that......................

House Republicans will soon huddle behind closed doors for a candidate forum with the nine members running for the job. First real test will be a secret ballot vote expected tomorrow.
Definitely agree!
Might also be a disinfo campaign too............
No actual confirmation though.
Well that's no fun! Glad no one was seriously hurt. Stay safe.
There have been a lot of protests/demonstrations in Seattle and and also Bellevue and Redmond which are closer to me, but no disasters yet. We are too rural for them to close.
OK, why did that never happen for me??
Will they announce the results from each ballot, then?
So how is this going to work? Do each of the combatants get to give a speech in front of the whole house? Or just the GOP? or what?
Yes he was! Not the chair's fault the panda was too big for it, though.
They have a lot of choices, but not any good ones.
NINE GOP candidates for speaker.
House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, Republican Conference Vice Chair Mike Johnson, RSC Chair Kevin Hern (Okla.), Reps. Byron Donalds (Fla.), Austin Scott (Ga.), Jack Bergman (Mich.), Pete Sessions (Texas), Gary Palmer (Ala.) and Dan Meuser (Pa.)
PALMER a new name.
How nice! The almond Kringle is the one generally offered at the nursery. I see several others that I would like to try.
Yes. It's a "fruitcake" that is actually good to eat.
A local nursery serves coffee and international dessert samples during the Christmas season. Stollen is always included and my favorite which is Danish Kringle.
It's actually a German Christmas Bread, and quite good.
Most cats like ham. 2 of ours do and the third probably would but he won't take any people food. Since I adopted him in July and he's 7, I can only figure he was trained not to.
They all like fresh cooked chicken- but my oldest cat (14) absolutely adores Costco chicken. I think she would eat the entire thing, given the chance! She also likes Chinese BBQ pork and pretzels, among other things. She's very small- only about 6 lbs. so she can have whatever she wants.
We could use a few more Unicorns..............................
Sure- just like with some brood mares they have their tails cut short. When they retire, they let them grow back out again,
Yes. Actually, a lot of horses would have quite long manes if they weren't kept trimmed.
Gorgeous indeed!
We have a cat that can do that.
The children continue to be children (I don't know the why of this- it just amuses me)

Scoop: Sources in the orbit of Donald Trump and Tucker Carlson tell me those around them would work to crush a speaker campaign by Tom Emmer.
The rift between Emmer and the right wing establishment run deep.
