Good morning God how are you today?
Just wanted to say Hi. That I love you, and want to thank you for all the wonderful things you have done for me. I apologize for being a hot-tempered Jerk sometimes, for thinking about my will instead of yours, and for not acknowledging the wondrous roll you play daily in my life.
I know I don’t talk to you nearly enough but today I would like to try and change that. Please help Paule to become the Paule that YOU envisioned me to be O Lord.
Thank you,
Paule
Our Father, Who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdome, and the power, and glory forever! Amen.

It is still a fairly new Round of ammo. A back issue of American Rifleman had a write up on the new Ruger ammo, however that is the only written material that has come my way.

7 weeks until Alaska. I am starting to prepare my equipement. I remember you looking through my backpack on the pig hunt and throwing out half of the crap I wanted to take with me. The friend that I told you about, is only allowed 75 lbs total weight including food. How much will we be allowed to carry? Do you want to meet somewhere and discuss this over drinks..wine..beer?
And finally the wife and I would like to take you and yours out to Tads Chicken and Dumpling for dinner sometime. Nice place that overlooks the river. You can eat inside or outside on a porch. If I remember right they serve a good selection of wine.
There is also this hole in the wall place out in Milwaukee that is currently on the yuppie "A" list. Babe tells me it real gooooood!

Veneration
The Catholic approach to the Shroud has always been that the image should be "venerated" as an example of Christ's suffering. As a Protestant, I had a difficult time with this concept. But I now find it to have valididity as a spiritual exercise. The Protestant fear of the Shroud or any other Catholic or Orthodox icon is that the image would be worshipped instead of God. This is essentially unfounded. In over 20 years of studying the Shroud, I have never met anyone who worshipped it like some pagan idol.
There are many cult groups that seem to be able to worship anything from crystals to goddesses to animals to tarot cards. I suppose that same troubled psychology can find its expression within the church and be manifested through image worship. The Reformation condemned such extremes found within the Catholic Church that were often expressed through excessive focus on Mary or certain Saints. The Catholic Church now acknowledges those excesses. The most common error among my Catholic and Orthodox brethren today is that some may use icons as good luck charms. This is obviously wrong and is not the meaning of veneration.
I discovered the meaning of veneration, at least from my Protestant mind set, when I viewed The Shroud in Turin this year. Even as one having studied and lectured on the subject for years, my initial reaction was…"Is this Memorex or is it real?" At first I scrutinized the cloth and the markings. I gazed at the burns and the water stains. I studied the image to compare it with all the photographs I had seen so many times before. I had my scientific hat on and I didn't like it. Why wasn't I feeling anything?
I didn't know how to venerate. After standing in line for an hour and passing before the cloth to get my allotted two minutes to view it, I went back inside the cathedral and sat down in the back and viewed it from afar. Why wasn't I feeling anything? It was only as I recalled from my memory verses of scripture that it began to move me. "Know ye not that you were bought with a price". "I am the resurrection and the life". "He was wounded for our iniquities and by His stripes we are healed". Verse after verse flooded my mind and spirit and then I understood the meaning of veneration. The Shroud and the icons that are based on it, simply represent these wonderful spiritual truths. They allow the scripture to come alive visually. In a sense, the Shroud is Scripture in a Picture!
So as you think about the Shroud and its meaning, allow yourself to recall the scriptures and your experience will be greatly enhanced. Below I have selected key scriptures by theme that I have found to be quite helpful in my attempts to venerate this most wonderful image known as the Shroud of Turin. Further down the page I have synthesized the account of Christ's passion from the Gospels of Mathew and John.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Verses For Contermplating the Shroud
The Sacrifice
1 PET 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
2 COR 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
1 CO 6:19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; [20] you were bought at a price.
Prophecy
ZEC 12:10 "And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. ISA 53:5
The Resurrection
JN 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; [26] and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"
REV 1:18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.
Resurrection Energy?
MT 17:1 After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. [2] There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.
Our Own Resurrection
1 COR 15:51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed-- [52] in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
The Image of God
COL 1:15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
HEB 1:3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
Looking at Jesus
JN 6:35 Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. [36] But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. [40] For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."
JN 12:44 Then Jesus cried out, "When a man believes in me, he does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. [45] When he looks at me, he sees the one who sent me. [46] I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.
Does God Use Evidence?
JN 14:11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.
AC 1:3 After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive.
1 CO 9:22b I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.
The Reason For It All
JN 20:30 Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. [31] But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Passion
MT 26:67 Then they spit in his face and struck him with their fists. Others slapped him [68] and said, "Prophesy to us, Christ. Who hit you?" MT 27:22 "What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called Christ?" Pilate asked. They all answered, "Crucify him!"
MT 27:26 Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged (scourged), and handed him over to be crucified. MT 27:27 Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him. [28] They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, [29] and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand and knelt in front of him and mocked him. "Hail, king of the Jews!" they said. [30] They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again. [31] After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him.
JN 19:16 Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified. So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. [17] Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). [18] Here they crucified him, and with him two others--one on each side and Jesus in the middle.
MT 27:34 There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it, he refused to drink it. [35] When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots. [36] And sitting down, they kept watch over him there. [37] Above his head they placed the written charge against him: THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
MT 27:50 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. MT 27:51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. MT 27:54 When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, "Surely he was the Son of God!"
JN 19:31 Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jews did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down. [32] The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then those of the other. [33] But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. [34] Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus' side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water. [35] The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe. [36] These things happened so that the scripture (prophecy) would be fulfilled: "Not one of his bones will be broken," [37] and, as another scripture says, "They will look on the one they have pierced."
MT 27:57 As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. [58] Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus' body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him. [59] Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, [60] and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away…
MT 27:65 "Take a guard," Pilate answered. "Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how." [66] So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard.
MT 28:1 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. MT 28:2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. [3] His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. [4] The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. MT 28:5 The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. [6] He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.

Did Jesus Renounce Marian Veneration? (Luke 11:27-28)
Someone wrote to me, asking:
I am in the midst of an internet newsgroup debate with a Fundamentalist regarding the Catholic teaching on Mary. This man claims to be an ex-Catholic, and apparently graduated from Catholic schools. He recently attempted to use Luke 11:27-28 as a proof text against Catholic veneration of Mary:
While he was speaking, a woman in the crowd called out and said to him 'Blessed is the womb that carried you and the breasts at which you nursed!' He replied, 'Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it.'
In response, I explained that the woman was actually complimenting Jesus, not Mary. In effect, she was saying "Your mother is so lucky to have a son like You!" Clearly, this is a compliment directed at Jesus. If a neighbor lady were to say this to you, obviously you would take it as a compliment directed at you, not your mother.
My Englishman's Greek Concordance shows that the word for "rather" here, menounge (Strong's word #3304) is used four times in the NT: Lk 11:28, Rom 9:20, 10:18, and Phil 3:8. Apparently, it can mean a contrast; however, this contrast need not negate what came before it. A clear example is Phil 3:8. In Phil 3:7 Paul says (KJV):
But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
He goes on to write (menounge in blue):
Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord . . .
Other translations:
"Indeed" (RSV) "What is more" (NIV) "Not only that" (Jerusalem) "I would say more" (NEB) "More than that" (NRSV / NASB).
Clearly, the word in this passage does not negate what came before, since the comparison is between "gainful things" and "all things." The second didn't undermine the first, but merely expanded upon it, making the category even broader. Likewise in Lk 11:27-28.
My New Bible Commentary (ed. D. Guthrie, rev. 1970, Grand Rapids, MI: Eerdmans, p. 906), a reputable Protestant source, states:
The woman's rather sentimental benediction on Jesus' mother meant, 'If only I had such a son as this.' Jesus' reply is that something else matters far more, to hear the message He proclaimed and to obey it (cf. 6:46-49).
This verse has no bearing whatever on the veneration of Mary, let alone undermining it. One must understand the Jewish "literary technique" of comparison and contrast, and it is improper to regard all instances of that in terms of an "either/or" approach, as Protestants are so often prone to do

Is Your Hut Burning?
The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a
small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for
God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the
horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.
Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little
hut out of driftwood to protect Him from the elements,
and to store his few possessions. Then one day, after
scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his
little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky.
The worst had happened; everything was lost.
He was stunned with grief and anger. "God, how could
you do this to me!" he cried.
Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the
sound of a ship that was approaching the island. It
had come to rescue him.
"How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of
his rescuers.
"We saw your smoke signal," they replied.
It is easy to get discouraged when things are going
bad. But we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at
work in our lives, even in the midst of pain and
suffering. Remember, next time your little hut is
burning to the ground-it just may be a smoke signal
that summons the grace of God.
For all the negative things we have to say to
ourselves, God has a positive answer for it.
You say: "It's impossible"
God says: All things are possible (Luke 18:27)
You say: "I'm too tired"
God says: I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28-30)
You say: "Nobody really loves me"
God says: I love you (John 3:16 & John 13:34)
You say: "I can't go on"
God says: My grace is sufficient
(II Corinthians 12:9 & Psalm 91:15)
You say: "I can't figure things out"
God says: I will direct your steps (Proverbs 3:5-6)
You say: "I can't do it"
God says: You can do all things (Philippians 4:13)
You say: "I'm not able"
God says: I am able (II Corinthians 9:8)
You say: "It's not worth it"
God says: It will be worth it (Roman 8:28)
You say: "I can't forgive myself"
God says: I FORGIVE YOU (I John 1:9 & Romans 8:1)
You say: "I can't manage"
God says: I will supply all your needs
(Philippians 4:19)
You say: "I'm afraid"
God says: I have not given you a spirit of fear
(II Timothy 1:7)
You say: "I'm always worried and frustrated"
God says: Cast all your cares on ME (I Peter 5:7)
You say: "I don't have enough faith"
God says: I've given everyone a measure of faith
(Romans 12:3)
You say: "I'm not smart enough"
God says: I give you wisdom (I Corinthians 1:30)
You say: "I feel all alone"

This scroll was discovered in 1956, when a group of Ta`amireh Bedouin happened on Cave 11, but it was first unrolled fourteen years later, at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. Inscribed in the scroll are parts of the final chapters (22-27) of Leviticus, the third book in the Pentateuch, which expounds laws of sacrifice, atonement, and holiness. This is the lowermost portion (approximately one-fifth of the original height) of the final six columns of the original manuscript. Eighteen small fragments also belong to this scroll. The additional fragments of this manuscript are from preceding chapters: Lev. 4, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18-22.
The Leviticus Scroll was written in an ancient Hebrew script often referred to as paleo-Hebrew. The almost uniform direction of the downstrokes, sloping to the left, indicates an experienced, rapid, and rhythmic hand of a single scribe. The text was penned on the grain side of a sheep skin. Both vertical and horizontal lines were drawn. The vertical lines aligned the columns and margins; the horizontal lines served as guidelines from which the scribe suspended his letters. Dots served as word-spacers.

The Songs of the Sabbath Sacrifice, also known as the "Angelic Liturgy," is a liturgical work composed of thirteen separate sections, one for each of the first thirteen Sabbaths of the year. The songs evoke angelic praise and elaborate on angelic priesthood, the heavenly temple, and the Sabbath worship in that temple.
The headings of the various songs may reflect the solar calendar. Although the songs bear no explicit indication of their source, the phraseology and terminology of the texts are very similar to those of other Qumran works.
Eight manuscripts of this work were found in Qumran Cave 4 (4Q400 through 407) and one in Cave 11, dating from the late Hasmonean and Herodian periods. One manuscript of the Songs of the Sabbath Sacrifice was found at Masada, a Zealot fortress.

The World of the Scrolls
In 1947, young Bedouin shepherds, searching for a stray goat in the Judean Desert, entered a long-untouched cave and found jars filled with ancient scrolls. That initial discovery by the Bedouins yielded seven scrolls and began a search that lasted nearly a decade and eventually produced thousands of scroll fragments from eleven caves. During those same years, archaeologists searching for a habitation close to the caves that might help identify the people who deposited the scrolls, excavated the Qumran ruin, a complex of structures located on a barren terrace between the cliffs where the caves are found and the Dead Sea. Within a fairly short time after their discovery, historical, paleographic, and linguistic evidence, as well as carbon-14 dating, established that the scrolls and the Qumran ruin dated from the third century B.C.E. to 68 C.E. They were indeed ancient! Coming from the late Second Temple Period, a time when Jesus of Nazareth lived, they are older than any other surviving biblical manuscripts by almost one thousand years.
Since their discovery nearly half a century ago, the scrolls and the identity of the nearby settlement have been the object of great scholarly and public interest, as well as heated debate and controversy. Why were the scrolls hidden in the caves? Who placed them there? Who lived in Qumran? Were its inhabitants responsible for the scrolls and their presence in the caves? Of what significance are the scrolls to Judaism and Christianity?
This exhibition presents twelve Dead Sea Scroll fragments and archaeological artifacts courtesy of the Israel Antiquities Authority as well as supplementary materials from the Library of Congress. It is designed to retell the story of the scrolls' discovery; explore their archaeological and historical context; introduce the scrolls themselves; explore the various theories concerning the nature of the Qumran community; and examine some of the challenges facing modern researchers as they struggle to reconstruct the scrolls from the tens of thousands of fragments that remain.
The Dead Sea
The Dead Sea is located in Israel and Jordan, about 15 miles east of Jerusalem. (A map of the Dead Sea Region is available). It is extremely deep (averaging about 1,000 feet), salty (some parts containing the highest amount of salts possible), and the lowest body of water in the world. The Dead Sea is supplied by a number of smaller streams, springs, and the Jordan River.
Because of its low elevation and its position in a deep basin, the climate of the Dead Sea area is unusual. Its very high evaporation does produce a haze yet its atmospheric humidity is low. Adjacent areas to it are very arid and favorable for the preservation of materials like the Dead Sea Scrolls.
The Bible's description, in Genesis 19, of a destructive earthquake near the Dead Sea area during the time of Abraham is borne out by archaeological and historic investigation. While no evidence remains of the five cities of the plain (Zeboim, Admah, Bela or Zoar, Sodom, and Gomorrah) their sites are believed to be beneath the waters at the southern end of the sea.
Archaeological sites near the Dead Sea include Masada, Ein Gedi, and Qumran (where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found). The Qumran Library
The scrolls and scroll fragments recovered in the Qumran environs represent a voluminous body of Jewish documents, a veritable "library", dating from the third century B.C.E. to 68 C.E. Unquestionably, the "library," which is the greatest manuscript find of the twentieth century, demonstrates the rich literary activity of Second Temple Period Jewry and sheds insight into centuries pivotal to both Judaism and Christianity. The library contains some books or works in a large number of copies, yet others are represented only fragmentarily by mere scraps of parchment. There are tens of thousands of scroll fragments. The number of different compositions represented is almost one thousand, and they are written in three different languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
There is less agreement on the specifics of what the Qumran library contains. According to many scholars, the chief categories represented among the Dead Sea Scrolls are:
Biblical
Those works contained in the Hebrew Bible. All of the books of the Bible are represented in the Dead Sea Scroll collection except Esther.
Apocryphal or pseudepigraphical
Those works which are omitted from various canons of the Bible and included in others.
Sectarian
Those scrolls related to a pietistic commune and include ordinances, biblical commentaries, apocalyptic visions, and liturgical works.
While the group producing the sectarian scrolls is believed by many to be the Essenes, there are other scholars who state that there is too little evidence to support the view that one sect produced all of the sectarian material. Also, there are scholars who believe there is a fourth category of scroll materials which is neither biblical, apocryphal, nor "sectarian." In their view, such scrolls, which may include "Songs of the the Sabbath Sacrifice", should be designated simply as contemporary Jewish writing.

Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with,A that we should no longer be slaves to sin--because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.
Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.
In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.
What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey--whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
I put this in human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness. When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6: 3-22

When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Matt 28:17-20

Jesus caused a fig tree to die because it could not produce fruit. I sometimes think that this scripture was almost humorous, picture Jesus and His followers walking a long time, very hungry and they come upon a tree that is supposed to bare fruit. Off in the distance they see this tree and are excited, they want the nice, juicy fruit of this tree. Jesus is obviously disappointed as He finds out the reality of this tree. What good does a tree serve if it is supposed to have fruit and does not? Does it bring relief from the torture of hunger? Or does it deceive? Ultimately this tree ends up as dried up wood, food for the insects.
In the same way, what good is it for a person who claims to be a Christian and has no fruit to prove that? Will this person end up in the same predicament as the tree? Dried up and eventually nothing but dust? That is surely not the way God wants His child to live as. The fruitless Christian is nothing but a waste. To claim himself as a child of God, and to turn around in a lifestyle of selfishness and sin is dangerous! I know this from first hand experience. I did this for years. I claimed to be a Christian in front of other Christians, but when I was in my usual setting, I forgot who I was. I forgot that I belong to God. That I am saved by Jesus' precious blood. This fruitless Christian needs to remember His family. He needs to cry out to God, and remember that God is a gentle, forgiving God. One day at a time. That is the way to handle life, one day at a time. When I get caught up in everything that is going on, I start to feel overwhelmed. I think to myself: How will I ever get anything done? I become distracted, which then causes me to grow frustrated, which only leads to more sin. I remember that I am light in darkness. I don't want to disappoint those who do not have the light, who think I may have the answer. If I am not close to my Father, how can I show others the truth in Christianity? It is impossible for me.
If you are a Christian and struggle with sin, get on your knees and ask God how to change you, to direct you into His will again, He will. He loves you.

An ungodly sea-captain lay dying in his cabin in mid-ocean, death staring him in the face. He shrank back in the presence of "the King of Terrors", and the dread of Eternity took fast hold upon him.
Captain Coutts sent for his first mate, and said: "Williams, please get down on your knees and pray for a fellow. I have been very wicked, as you know, and I expect I shall go this time".
"I am not a praying man, Captain; so I can't pray. I would if I could".
"Well, then, bring a Bible and read me a bit, for my rope is about run out".
"I have no Bible, Captain, you know, I am not a religious man".
"Then send for Thomas, the second mate", said the Captain – perhaps he can pray a bit".
The second mate was soon in the presence of his dying Captain, who said to Him: "I say, Thomas, I am afraid I am bound for Eternity this trip; get down and pray for me. Ask God to have mercy on my poor soul".
"I would gladly do it to oblige you, Captain – if I could; but I have not prayed since I was a lad".
"Have you a Bible, then, to read to me"?
"No, Captain, I have no Bible".
Alas! for the poor Captain. How awful his condition – on the brink of Eternity and without Christ. They searched the ship over for a man who could pray, but they searched in vain: and for a Bible, but one could not be found until one of the sailors told the Captain he had seen a book that looked like a Bible in the hands of the cook's boy, a little fellow named Willie Platt.
"Send at once", said the Captain, "and see if the boy has a Bible".
The sailor hurried off to find Willie, and said to him – "Sonny, have you a Bible"?
"Yes, sir, but I only read it in my own time".
"Oh, that's all right, my lad; take the Bible and go to the Captain's cabin. He is very sick and wants a Bible – thinks he is going to die".
Away went Willie with his Bible to the Captain's cabin.
"Have you a Bible, my boy"?
"Yes, Captain".
"Then sit down, and find something in it that will help me, for I am afraid I am going to die. Find something about God having mercy on a sinner like me – and read it to me".
Well, there was one chapter he and his mother loved – Isaiah 53 – and often had they read it together. So Willie turned to that blessed chapter that so fully sets forth the love and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ, in dying for such as John Coutts; and began to read.
When he got to the fifth verse – "He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and by His stripes we are healed" – the Captain, who was listening intently, said, "Stop, my boy, that sounds like it; read it again".
Once more the boy read over the blessed words, "He was wounded for our transgressions".
"Ay, my lad, that's good – that's it for sure".
These words from the Captain encouraged Willie, and he said, "Captain, when I was reading that verse at home, mother made me put my name in it. May I put it in now"?
"Certainly, sonny; put your name in it just as your mother told you, and read it again".
Reverently and slowly the boy read the verse: "He – Jesus – was wounded for Willie Platt's transgressions – He was bruised for Willie Platt's iniquities" – and so on.
When Willie had finished, the Captain was half-way over the side of the bed, and reaching toward the lad he said, "My boy, put your Captain's name in the verse and read it again".
Then the lad slowly read the verse again: "He was wounded for John Coutts' transgressions"; "He was bruised for John Coutts' iniquities", "The chastisement of John Coutts' peace was upon Him", "and by His stripes John Coutts is healed".
When Willie had finished, the Captain said, "That will do, my lad, you may go now". Then the Captain lay back on his pillow and repeated over and over again those precious words of Isaiah 53:5, putting in his own name each time, and as he did so, the joy of heaven filled his soul – he was saved! Yes, praise the Lord, he was saved! Another poor sinner saved, for whom Jesus died.

Busy day today. I only have time to check in and say Hello All...
Hello All.
Carolyn I decided to match the cabinets correctly this time so no I have not yet completed the kitchen yet. I will have to order two cabinets 1 1/2 inches shorter than the ones I currently have. Soon as they come in I can mount the range hood and then finish the tile backsplash. I will then put the upper and lower trim on the walls and be finished. I am having trouble finding Black switches and outlets. The closest I can find is dark brown. Just a bunch of little things left to do.
Pre I'll look at those maps tonight. I am very interested to see what the new maps will give us. As for employees, I use slave labor and just don’t tell anybody. LOL... Last night someone had me show him my Chevy. He was a young person looking for a hot rod to restore. Just the fit I thought. I dropped the price down right there in hopes that the car would just find somebody to love it. I think he'll be back.
Chas interesting handle. My sons name is Chase. Which was also going to be my alias however all the combinations of Chase were taken Chas, Chase, Chasers etc. I look forward to chatting with you in the future. We can throw back a few and make fun of Pre ;O)-
Well going to take the boy to the arcade. See you all later.

North American wild turkey populations increased from around 500,000 in 1959 to almost 3.5 million in 1990. Five years later, the National Wild Turkey Federation recorded populations of an estimated 4.2 million birds. Alaska is the only state to not have a huntable wild turkey population.

In order to become a licensed Stock Broker or Registered Representative you must pass your series 7 exams. Series 6 exams allow you to manage mutual funds etc…
At one time I harbored the idea of becoming a broker. However after watching how people reacted during this down market, I don’t think I wish to handle other people’s money. I know that’s where the big bucks are nevertheless I can trade online for little money and do just fine for myself.
Combined with a new sales rep job for a HVAC company and I might be able to afford these hunting trips I’m going on ar ar ar ar.
And how are you lately?

What type of trader. Are you studying for your series 7? I have the study on my computer. I have been studying it for quite some time now. It has helped my trading immensely.
I have no education. That is unless you put value into a public one ending at high school. I guess natural genius is all one needs to prepare one to overcome adversary and achieve excellence throughout life.
