Overall APDN shows the character of a well regulated disciplined company and not a typical rogue penny stock.
The growth in revenue has to step up but otherwise we seem to be in good shape.
Hope the market sees it that way and we continue our steady upward momentum.
The Dr stated that DLA mandate expansion was a distinct possibility, in response to a specific question posed by someone.
Hence it is not a part of the transcript.
Hi A1- The complete call transcript is already there on the APDN website.
Here is what Karol said about the MDA project. Not clear what she meant. Does it mean that they have Phase II??
During the quarter ended December 31, 2013, the Company renewed three contracts and executed four new contracts with DLA suppliers, compared to three contracts executed during the same period last year. This increase is also attributable to the mid-term reporting of revenue from the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I Bridge Option award extended from the Missile Defense Agency. We continue to look forward to building our revenue as we close contracts in all of our vertical markets particularly in the areas of security, textiles and cash-and-valuables in transit.
Hi TCMB,
Here is what she said.
Due to the increase in our unaffiliated market cap exceeding $75 million, we are no longer considered a smaller reporting company and have been classified as an Accelerated Filer. This change in filing status requires the company to follow different guidelines such as the decrease of time for the filing of the 10K and 10Q. We will now be subject to an audit of our internal controls, which will be conducted by our independent auditors at the end of our fiscal year. You should also expect to see
expanded disclosures on the narrative for both the 10K and 10Q. This change went into effect with this 10Q filing.
The call transcript is now on the APDN website.
The only thing that can save us is some announcement on the DLA or MDA front.
Or else it is another long and miserable wait for the next qtr. They are participating in a military conference from the 18 - 20th of Feb. Hope that brings us some news.
Obviously market not too happy with the figures. I hope it does not go down too much.
Wish revenues could gave been more. Also, this whole confusion on the number of customers is a cause for worry. I hope that it does not mean that some of the customers who signed on are not renewing now.
Yes I guess so. He talked about 4 verticals as their areas of focus, Military, Textiles, Cash-in-Transit and a fourth which I could not register.
But he made a separate mention of Pharma and Health & Safety.
Yes A4. Thus for us there was not much to gain.
The Dr. mentioned that Pharma was a strategic priority.
Expansion of DLA mandate a distinct possibility.
Karol mentioned something about SBIR but I did not hear about the MDA Phase II award.
Nothing very substantial on the call.
I was just concerned as the number mentioned now is far lower than what we have been talking about. We have been talking about more than 50 and were harboring hopes of reaching 100.
Not sure how this works.
Hi A1
Do you have any answer to my question in my earlier post, about number of customers?
Thanks.
Hi WT,
Thanks. The extract is from their latest report for the 1st Qtr of 2014. There is only a comparison with the 2012 end Dec figure.
I agree, A1 should have an answer.
Hi A1, A4, WT, Yip,
Noticed the following para in the PR released by APDN.
Renewal of three contracts and initiation of four new contracts with DLA suppliers, compared to three contracts executed during the quarter ended December 31, 2012;
• To date, twenty eight (28) customers in the Military Electronics Anti-counterfeiting Program, including seven Original Component Manufacturers (OCMs) and two electronics distributors have signed and/or renewed agreements.
Is this count right?? I thought we had more signed on right? Or is it that all of them had to renew their contracts and some have not done so. In short is there a decrease in the customers??
Yes A4. I think it is critical that the Dr. brings out such positive elements in his call tomorrow.
Very disappointing A4. Unless we were overestimating based on last qtr.
The only way is to harp on the 88% growth over the same period last year and hope that the market buys that.
But more than that only an important PR like what SP said, can save the day tomorrow.
The fact remains and now more so, that APDN revenue stream is a mystery. Never very clear.
No. I am not clear about what deferred revenue means. Either way, I do not think that will cut ice.
The best way would be to harp on an 88% revenue growth over the same qtr last year.
But the fact remains that we are all shocked with thus revenue figure. After 640 in the previous qtr, I was pretty sure we would do at least more than that if not a million. Just beats me.
A1 - we should ask this question tomorrow.
Only a few things can save us:
1. Compare revenue growth with same qtr last year and not the previous qtr. ( as is normally the case )
2. Harp on some reduction in expenses
3. Make some announcement about the expansion of DLA mandate and
4. Make an announcement about the MDA project phase II
Or else we are doomed for another qtr till something sensational happens.
Most disappointing revenue figure. This is shocking. Just fail to understand how this company generates revenue. Almost impossible to guess.
How could they be lower than the last quarter with all those announcements and added contracts.
Tomorrow will be hell.
Only the good old Dr. knows why. Tomorrow will make it clear to us all. Maybe guys trying to load up cheap.
Good luck.
Hey GD!! 2016 - that's way too much into the future. I would like to see some pps growth much before.
We need that steady rise into the dollar territory. Can't bear to see this languishing in the teens anymore.
I have decided not to watch it today at all.
Am stepping out and will take a peep towards closing time.
Hope it works out for all of us tomorrow.
Hell SP, I have the same lurking feeling.
Either this is not going anywhere or there is some group which does not want it to go anywhere and will ensure that it does not, good results or not.
I am bracing myself for the worst.
Look at the way they brought it down from .1750 to .1650. Where did all the Asks above .1730 disappear.
Maybe this week itself.
Hell Pasta, you got me all excited and then boom! or rather doom!
Thanks A4. Let's hope so.
Maybe this is a good question to ask on the CC.
Also A4, I read in some post elsewhere that the warrants have been exercised by Crede. Is that true??
Thanks A4.
Not very encouraging then. We might therefore see another huge non-cash element again in this qtrs report. APDN also talked of this expense being related to the stock price. They said that if the stock price goes up this expense element goes up and if the pps is low, the expense is lower.
Does this provide any incentive to keep the pps low?? Also why not, as you said, amortize the expenses over a period so time.
WT, Yip, A1, A4,
Any comments on my query related to expenses in my earlier post.
Hi Mike,
I later traced it. I was referring to WT's post 28098.
Thanks for your input though. Yes I am hoping that Tue will be a day to remember for all of us and for good reasons.
God Bless.
APDN is participating in the CMSE ( Components for Military & Space Electronics ) conference in LA between Feb 18 - 21, 2014.
Someone had a question about an announcement being made on the 19th of Feb. Agora had also mentioned it. I feel the reference was to the above conference.
APDN Expenses.
Last qtr, APDN reported $10 million of non cash expenses of which $ 7.5 mn were related to the fair market value of the warrants.
It was also said that once these warrants are fully exercised, this expense will not be seen.
Can anyone throw some light on this. Has Crede exercised all its warrants. If so, expenses could be significantly lower this qtr and coupled with higher revenues, we could see a healthier P&L statement.
Thanks. Hope the DOD expands the mandate.
We also need to get some more insight into their revenues from their private partnerships. That has always been a mystery
Would love that to be true. Just hope it happens.
Thanks A1. I am pretty confident that your estimate will be very close.
I guess A1 we can add revenues from Supina cotton deal to this.
I like that Mike. Thank you.
Pardon my negative rants but that's how I am. Get easily frustrated. Also because I believe this is a great company or at least a great technology that I feel we have all latched on to.
We all deserve better. I am a bit tired holding on to this for the last 6 years. I know that some on this board have been here longer.
But hell!! Let's enjoy the week-end and wake up to a great Monday/Tuesday.
Go APDN.
They may not have talked about Defence contracts in the last few months but there have been a number of significant PRs.
A lot is happening on other fronts like textiles, cash-in-transit, etc. Even on the MDA and DLA front there is a lot on the horizon.
Under normal circumstances, this should have been enough to move the pps handsomely. I have seen some penny stocks almost explode with nothing really happening. Can't name those stocks here but that is what leads me to believe that we are being manipulated.
I too believe in the technology. In fact I feel that APDN has done almost all that it needed to. There is nothing to prove out there. The stock price should have been much higher by now.
