Bravada and Fortune River Settle Ratios of Amalgamation
Resource Corp. On Thursday September 16, 2010, 1:58 pm EDT
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 16, 2010) - Bravada Gold Corporation (TSX VENTURE:BVA - News; FRANKFURT:6BG - News) and Fortune River Resource Corporation (TSX VENTURE:FRX - News; FRANKFURT:RG7A - News) report that their respective Boards of Directors have agreed on the ratios for the proposed amalgamation after considering advice from external advisors relative to the preparation of a Fairness Opinion addressed to the Amalgamating Companies.
The ratios are:
FRX: 0.85 share of the Amalgamated Company for 1 share of FRX.
BVA: 1.00 share of the Amalgamated Company for 1 share of BVA.
Previously, as disclosed in a common news release (NR-10-10 for BVA and NR-13-10 for FRX), the Companies had agreed on a preliminary basis on ratios of 0.5 shares of the Amalgamated Company for 1 share of FRX and 1.0 share of the Amalgamated Company for 1 share of BVA.
The new ratios acknowledge a higher value for FRX's Wind Mountain gold resource than is currently being reflected in FRX's share price and results in the Amalgamated Company being owned equally by shareholders of FRX and shareholders of BVA. The proposed Amalgamation is subject to appropriate approvals of shareholders and of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, and acceptance by the TSX Venture Exchange, to merge into a single Amalgamated Company, which would retain the name Bravada Gold Corporation.
The Amalgamated Company will focus exploration activities on its combined 20 Nevada properties (approximately 13,000ha), located in the Battle Mountain-Eureka trend, the Walker Lane Trend, and the Northern Nevada Rift. Both companies are currently drilling exploration properties and both are well advanced toward acquiring other strategic properties in these prolific Nevada gold trends. BVA is drilling the PH Carlin-style exploration property, located along the Battle Mountain-Eureka Gold trend 6 km east of the Tonkin Springs gold deposits and 13km northwest of the Gold Bar satellite deposits. FRX and partner Christopher James Gold Corp are drilling the Buz low-sulfidation exploration property, located along the Walker Lane Gold trend 3km northeast of the partnership's Highland property.
In addition to the extensive package of exploration properties along Nevada's long-established gold trends, the Amalgamated Company will include an existing mineral resource at its Wind Mountain property, a previous Amax Gold open-pit/heap-leach mine. The project contains an estimated 406,000 ounces of gold in the Measured plus Indicated Resource categories, 33.7 million tons averaging 0.411g/t Au, using a cutoff grade of 0.257g/t Au, plus an additional 92,000 ounces of gold in the inferred category, 9.8 million tons averaging 0.308g/t Au, using the same cut-off grade (see FRX news release dated January 8, 2008). The company recently commissioned an independent NI43-101-Compliant Preliminary Economic Assessment and associated Technical Report by Mines Development Associates (MDA), a well-respected engineering group based in Reno. MDA modelled an open pit using $850 per ounce of gold and $14.50 per ounce of silver. MDA's report indicates the project will have an NPV@5% of US$13.2million (IRR=15%) at $850 per ounce gold and, assuming a 20% increase in metal prices, an NPV@5% of US$43.7million (IRR=38%) at $1,020 per ounce gold for the same pit design (see FRX news release NR-05-10 dated April 13, 2010). MDA recommends work that could improve economics further and advance the project through pre-feasibility at a modest cost.
President Joe Kizis commented, "Although valuing junior exploration companies is difficult at best, we feel we are providing both groups of shareholders with significant upside. BVA shareholders participate in an established resource, which we feel is underappreciated in the market and will improve with further optimization studies. FRX shareholders participate in an excellent portfolio of exploration properties that have potential for very large Carlin-type gold deposits. Both groups of shareholders will benefit from a more steady flow of news as the properties are advanced by the Amalgamated Company and its partners."
It is anticipated that Special meetings of both Companies will be convened during the month of November 2010 for resolutions of the Members of each Company followed by Court application and submissions to the TSX Venture Exchange for listing of the shares of the Amalgamated Company.

Fortune River and Christopher James Begin Drilling at Buz Gold/Silver Project in Nevada
September 15, 2010, 1:32 pm EDT
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 15, 2010) - Fortune River Resource Corp. (TSX VENTURE:FRX - News; FRANKFURT:RG7A - News) and partner Christopher James Gold Corp. (CJG.V) reported today that drilling is underway at their 240ha, low-sulfidation Buz gold/silver Project in the Walker Lane Gold trend in western Nevada. A four-hole, reverse-circulation drilling program is planned, approximately 1,000 metres total.
Grab samples of vein material from dumps of small historic workings contain anomalous gold up to +10g/t, with relatively low concentrations of silver and very low concentrations of base metals. The gold-bearing veins formed in a small graben and related volcanic eruptive center within the southern margin of a large Tertiary caldera. Vein mineralogy and textures in surface exposures are typical of the upper level of a low-sulfidation gold system. Economic accumulations of gold, if present, would typically lie deeper in these systems. Only one shallow historic drill hole has been found on this minimally explored property.
Christopher James may earn a 51% interest in the Buz property by spending US$2,000,000 over a six-year period, which will include paying underlying annual minimum royalties and claim-holding fees. Christopher James may earn a further 19% interest, for a total of 70%, by producing a bankable feasibility study by the end of year six. This option may be extended for up to two years by paying Fortune River US$50,000 and spending a minimum of US$500,000 per year. The project is subject to an underlying royalty of 3% NSR, of which 1.5% can be purchased for US$1,500,000. Fortune River will be project manager initially, continuing as long as mutually agreed.
Highland project update
Permits have been received and a bond has been posted for drilling at the Highland property, which is also being managed by the company and funded by Christopher James Gold Corp. During the past few months, previously planned drilling was postponed while the existing ground magnetics survey was enlarged and 21 new claims were added to cover projections of geophysical targets, bringing the total to 141 claims (approx.1,100ha). Christopher James has met required year one expenditures at Highland and will determine a drill schedule once their budgeting process has been completed.

An then burn a book?

"Don't burn the koran.
Soak it in a beaker full of pig's urine and call it art."
I wonder if when they build this Ground Zero Mosque if the National Guard will be there to protect it??
Koran Burning And Bible Burning Treated Differently In America?
WKOV.COM ^ | 08 Sept 2010 | Adam Kirk
Posted on Thursday, September 09, 2010 14:16:03 by FourPeas
In a matter of weeks, a small Gainesville church holding services in an unassuming steel building has become a national phenomenon; and the national media can't get enough of it.
Pastor Terry Jones did not gain international stardom until recently despite a long list of controversial protests. His playground, a city of 125,000 covered by the sprawling University of Florida campus and one-time home to college football hero Tim Tebow, Gainesville is hardly a backwoods 'burb. But Jones and his 50-or-so followers have routinely been seen on the side of the road, holding up signs reading "Islam is of the Devil" and even targeting the city's newly elected openly gay mayor, Craig Lowe.
In fact just last year this same church gained attention in Jacksonville for handing out t-shirts with the same slogan. A student was even sent home from school for wearing one, yet the needle on the dial of the national media barely moved. It wasn't until Jones threatened to burn the Muslim holy book that he drew the ire of people around the world, dozens of religious leaders, the New Black Panther Party and the Obama administration.
Now at least two dozen Christian churches, Jewish temples and Muslim organizations in the city have mobilized to plan events _ some will read from the Koran at their own weekend services. A student group is organizing a protest across the street from the church on Saturday.
But just last year, when the pastor of a 14 member church in Canton, N.C. promised to burn all translations of the Christian Bible it considered evil, only a handful of reporters showed up. The church did gain national attention, but never to the degree of the Dove World Outreach Center. And as far as we can tell, the top General in the war on terror, the Secretary of State, and the President never weighed in. The church backed down in the end, after threats of fines for violating local statutes, but their ultimate ceremony was even ignored by the local paper that covered their area.
This increased amount of media coverage puts the Obama administration in a tough political position. Just a few weeks back the President said he supported the "right" of an Imam to construct an Islamic community center just blocks from the site of the World Trade Center attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, but would not comment on the "wisdom" of doing so.
However, the President's spokesman hasn't said whether the President supports the "right" of the Gainesville church to burn a Koran.
This disparity may highlight a sharp break in the way different Americans think about the virtues of turning the other cheek. Were the President to come out in favor of the church's right to burn the holy book, he could be criticized by Republicans and Democrats alike in an already contentious election season. When the President made his statement on the proposed Islamic center, even some top Democrats expressed their opposition to that position. However, if he stays silent on the issue he could be attacked for being biased toward the constitutional rights of Muslims and not those of other faiths.
This morning on NBC's "The Today Show" senior political advisor to President Obama David Axelrod said when asked whether the Gainesville church has a right to burn a Koran, "it's not a matter of whether they have the right, it's a matter of whether it's right."
Burning a Koran is considered by Muslims among the most offensive actions taken against Islam. 15 people died and scores were wounded in riots 5 years ago in Afghanistan sparked by a story in Newsweek magazine claiming that interrogators at the Guantanamo Bay detention center flushed a Koran down the toilet to get inmates to talk. Newsweek later retracted the story.
Just this week a group of 500 protesters chanted "Long live Islam" and "Death to America" a world away in the streets of Kabul, Afghanistan.
In a blog on the website of the Dove World Outreach Center, writer Fran Ingram offered the groups' reasoning for burning the Koran, arguing that it is not God's word and denies Jesus is the son of God, that Islam is totalitarian and that the religion teaches idolatry, paganism, rites and rituals.
Jones said he now carries a .40-caliber pistol on his hip, because of the level of response and death threats his church is taking seriously. He also said he's praying about his decision to go forward with the burning, and that he could change his mind if he gets a sign from God.

Top Marine Says Afghan Deadline May Help Taliban
By ELISABETH BUMILLER
Published: August 24, 2010
WASHINGTON — The commandant of the Marine Corps said Tuesday that President Obama’s July 2011 deadline to begin American troop withdrawals from Afghanistan was “probably giving our enemy sustenance.”
At War
New Case of Civilian Deaths Investigated in Afghanistan (August 25, 2010)
It was by far the most sharply worded public remark from a senior military commander about the White House’s timetable for starting to wind down the war.
The commandant, Gen. James T. Conway, also said that “if you follow it closely, and of course we all do, we know the president was talking to several audiences at the same time when he made his comments on July 2011.” The general apparently meant that Mr. Obama’s deadline was set for a domestic political audience as well as for the Afghans.
But the general, who is retiring this fall, said he thought the deadline might not ultimately comfort the insurgents, who could find that only a small number of United States forces leave Afghanistan next July, a possibility increasingly set forth by Pentagon officials and senior commanders. He predicted that Taliban fighters, who he said have been told repeatedly by their commanders that the Americans would leave en masse, would be demoralized when they realized that the United States was staying.
“What is he going to say to his foot troops,” he said of a Taliban commander, when, “come the fall, we’re still there hammering them like we have been? I think it could be very good for us in that context, in terms of the enemy’s psyche and what he has been, you know, posturing now for, really, the better part of a year.”
General Conway, who spoke to reporters at a Pentagon briefing, also made clear, as he has in the past, that he remained personally opposed to overturning the “don’t ask, don’t tell” law that requires gay men and lesbians in the military to keep their sexual orientation secret or leave the service. Mr. Obama and senior Pentagon leaders, including Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, have said that the law should be changed to allow gay men and lesbians to serve openly in the military. The Senate is scheduled to consider legislation next month.
“We will follow the law, whatever the law prescribes,” General Conway said, adding that the Marines “cannot be seen as dragging our feet or some way delaying implementation.”
Based on his information from Marines, he said, “I can tell you that an overwhelming majority would like not to be roomed with a person who is openly homosexual.” But because some Marines do not object, he said, perhaps having those Marines share rooms voluntarily with openly gay service members “might be the best way to start, without violating anybody’s sense of moral concern or perception on the part of their mates.”
Asked what he meant by moral concern, General Conway said, “We have some people that are very religious.” He added: “I couldn’t begin to give you a percentage, but I think in some instances we will have people that say that homosexuality is wrong, and they simply do not want to room with a person of that persuasion because it would go against their religious beliefs.”
Gay rights groups counter that most active-duty service members, who are decades younger than many senior commanders, do not passionately care one way or another about overturning the ban or serving with openly gay men and women.
General Conway, echoing other senior American commanders, said that it “will be a few years” before the Marines can turn over their operations in Afghanistan entirely to Afghan forces. About 20,000 Marines are based in the southern province of Helmand, Afghanistan’s breadbasket and the Taliban heartland, where they continue to battle insurgents in Marja, the site of a major Marine offensive this past winter.
“They’re sniping at us, they’re throwing a few odd rounds here and there, they’re shooting at our helicopters, but mainly they’re intimidating the people, O.K., so as to maintain a presence there and keep Marja from being, again, this strategic victory on the part of the Marines in the south of Helmand,” he said.
Nonetheless, General Conway said that over all in Helmand, “We have the momentum, we have the initiative.” Even though the American public is tired of the war, he said, “our enemy is getting tired, too.”

Ground Zero Mosque Imam: US Bloodier Than al-Qaida
Tuesday, 24 Aug 2010 01:58 PM
The imam at the center of the debate over the mosque and Islamic center being built near ground zero said the United States has more Muslim blood on its hands than al-Qaida has in its murder of non-Muslims, according to a provocative new tape that has surfaced on the Internet. Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the leader of the effort to build a mosque near the site of the 9/11 terror attacks in New York, told an Australian audience in July 2005 that U.N sanctions against Iraq had led to the death of more than 500,000 children.
But the group that procured the tape, the Investigative Project on Terrorism, counters in its fact check that studies have generally showed no more than 50,000 deaths could be attributed to the sanctions, which were brought on by the dictator Saddam Hussein.
In a taped speech now available online, Rauf makes a number of statements that would seem to counter his image as a moderate in the U.S. Muslim community.
"We tend to forget, in the West, that the United States has more Muslim blood on its hands than al-Qaida has on its hands of innocent non-Muslims,” he says at one point. “You may remember that the U.S.-led sanctions against Iraq led to the death of over half a million Iraqi children. This has been documented by the United Nations. And when Madeleine Albright, who has become a friend of mine over the last couple of years, when she was Secretary of State and was asked whether this was worth it, said it was worth it."

Obama had facts wrong about visit here
Finance director: Stimulus dollars didn't aid project
Friday, August 20, 2010 02:50 AM
By Mark Niquette
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
President Barack Obama spoke at the North Side home of an architect during his visit Wednesday.
President Barack Obama spoke at the North Side home of an architect during his visit Wednesday.
A local project that President Barack Obama cited during a visit Wednesday to Columbus as an example of how the federal stimulus package has worked isn't actually being funded with stimulus dollars.
The president spoke at the North Side home of architect Joe Weithman, and both Obama's comments and information from the White House touted Weithman's work on a project that the president said was being at least partially funded by the $787 billion stimulus bill passed last year.
"What we've been trying to do is to build infrastructure that puts people back to work but also improves the quality of life in communities like Columbus," Obama said in his remarks. "So Joe is an architect, and he's now working on a new police station that was funded in part with Recovery Act funds."
But although federal money is being used for the project in question, there are no stimulus dollars involved, said Columbus Finance Director Paul Rakosky, a Democrat.
Rakosky said the project is not a police station but rather the renovation of an abandoned warehouse that the city purchased on the South Side in 2007 to house the city's police crime lab and property room.
Weithman's firm, Mull & Weithman Architects, is handling the $300,000 in design work for the crime lab as part of the project, and the $300,000 is coming from a congressional earmark, Rakosky said.
When White House spokesman Matt Lehrich was asked about the discrepancy, all he would say is: "The president's trip to Columbus was, in part, to highlight the role that small businesses, like Joe's, will play in creating jobs in communities across the country. That's a fact, and it's why he's been urging Republicans to stop blocking a proposal to cut taxes for small businesses that are looking to grow and hire more workers."
Background information the White House provided before the president's visit didn't identify the stimulus bill as the source of funding for the work, but it said the architectural firm that Weithman runs "was able to keep two of their employees that otherwise would have been laid off due to work on a police station renovation that received infrastructure funding."
It also said Weithman hopes to hire an additional employee as the economy improves and as "additional projects, some of which could be funded by the Recovery Act, are secured."
The White House did properly credit the stimulus bill for tax subsidies that Weithman's wife, Rhonda, used to maintain the family's health-care coverage after she lost her job last year.
Rakosky also noted that Columbus has received $70 million in stimulus money for infrastructure work, which he said is freeing up capital dollars for other projects such as the warehouse renovation.

Poll: 46% of GOP thinks Obama's Muslim
I have a new story up tonight about the latest polling on public views about President Barack Obama's religious beliefs. There's a lot of startling news in these polls--from the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life and Time Magazine. But one number that could catch significant attention is this: in the Time poll, 46 percent of Republicans said they believe Obama is a Muslim.
In the Pew survey, that number came in somewhat lower: 31 percent.
The Time GOP number isn't posted on the web, as best I can tell, but a spokeswoman for the magazine shared the breakdown of the data at my request.
There are a couple of possible explanations for the Time Poll finding that belief to be more prevalent, both in the public at large and the GOP. First, the Time survey was done Monday and Tuesday, at the height of the controversy over the mosque near ground zero in New York. Second, it used different wording from the Pew survey, which gave respondents a smorgasbord of choices for Obama's possible religion.
Pew asked:
Now, thinking about Barack Obama’s religious beliefs… Do you happen to know what Barack Obama’s religion is? Is he Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, atheist, agnostic, or something else?
Time asked a question which gave more prominence to the possibility Obama is Muslim, but also may have drawn out more subjective feelings from respondents:
Do you personally believe that Barack Obama is a Muslim or a Christian?
For what it's worth, the Pew sample was substantially larger: 3003 respondents including 842 Republicans. Time had 1002 respondents, talked to 295 Republicans and reduced that number to 272 to reweight the poll.
If my math is right, that gives the Pew poll a sampling error for the Republican group of +/- 4.5 percent and the Time poll +/- 5.8 percent.

Obama disapproval hits all-time high in Gallup poll
By Michael O'Brien - 08/16/10 01:26 PM ET
50 percent of voters said they disapprove of the way President Obama is handling his job, according to Gallup's daily tracking poll.
Half of voters, the first time voters have registered such an opinion during his presidency, said they disapprove of the way Obama is handling his job. Forty-two percent said they approved of the president's job performance.
The approval number is an all-time low in the daily tracking poll, a rolling average of surveys of registered voters over the last three days.
By contrast, Obama's highest ever approval rating came in late June of 2009, when 69 percent of voters said they approved of the job he was doing.
The Gallup numbers come as Democrats debate internally whether the president is a boon or burden on the campaign trail ahead of elections in which the party is expected to fare poorly.
The poll, conducted Aug. 13-15, has a 2.5 percent margin of error.

Obama backtracks over Ground Zero mosque after furious 9/11 families label him 'insensitive and uncaring'
* Friday: 'Let me be clear: As a citizen and as President I believe that Muslims have the same right ... to build a place of worship and a community centre on private property in Lower Manhattan'
* Saturday: 'I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making a decision to put a mosque there'
* Hamas: Muslims 'have to build everywhere' so they can pray like Christians and Jews
Barack Obama has backtracked over his support for plans to build a mosque near Ground Zero.
The U.S. President was hit by a furious backlash from victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks after he backed the highly controversial plans in a speech on Friday.
The proposed site for the 13-storey building is close to where
almost 3,000 people died nine years ago after Muslim hijackers flew two jet airliners into the World Trade Center.
