What I like that you have a "grounding" effect on me every time I get excited.
Something is a bit suspicions in this correction. Did someone in management check first PR before it was released ? So which numbers we supposed to believe ? And how mistake was made ? What if they made a mistake again and will issue correction on Monday Hmm , Now I don't know what to believe - is this will be typical thing to come?
DB's gold is part of overall production numbers, but who cares ? I like our munbers, they look great to me ; we passing 80K and approaching 100K, and with Hl fully implemented we will increase our production and decrease our labor to aprox. $450.
Lo, your numbers are right on the money, but we cannot control the market- that is fine opportunity to add shares. Jal, look forward and I am glad you are changing your mind about PDI, - will last 30+ years.
"For the current first quarter of Fiscal 2012, the Company anticipates producing 35,000 to 37,000 ounces of gold and expects to pour and sell 20,000 to 21,000 ounces of gold during the period. Looking forward, the Company intends to produce 115,000 to 125,000 gold ounces in Fiscal 2012 and 135,000 to 145,000 gold ounces in Fiscal 2013. Cash cost per ounce of gold is expected to reduce..."
Yes... yes... yes...yes..- I just about to have an orgasm.. ha-ha..
Remember a scene from that movie where older lady asked a stewardess : " Can I have what she is having?" it was Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan doing it a "hot"...
A group of Indians and peasants of the region Ngäbe Bugle and the northern province of Veraguas arrived in Santiago after walking for six days in protest against the establishment of mining and hydroelectric projects in these regions.
The demonstrators, including men, women and children, departed on Friday from the community of Valle Bonito, in the border region between Veraguas and indigenous, and after his arrival in the city of Santiago where they set up camp to spend the night yesterday to participate in a march commemorating the 40 anniversary of the disappearance of the priest Hector Gallego.
Etanislao Ortega, spokesman for the group of indigenous people and farmers, said the message of this long walk is to make the government understand their opposition to mining projects, hydroelectric and wind power will be installed in the north of Veraguas and the region Ngäbe Bugle.
According to the leader, in rural areas the groups are committed to the conservation of natural resources and therefore will continue to fight against the establishment of these projects.
After the long journey on foot, the protesters received support from some people who helped in the food and potable water for consumption, while serving the route.
Yesterday, Thursday, participants held a march to the governor of Veraguas, where after a meeting delivered a formal request to the governor, Ernesto Martinez.
The document calling for the abolition of the mining, hydropower and wind power granted in these areas.
Lo, that is a game breaking correction, OH MY... I don't know where to start... still trying to digest this... ChOO - CHoOO !! goodbye mark..
Show about to begin..

Promotion of Panama in seven countries
Mary Triny zea
mzea@prensa.com
Through conferences will promote the benefits of Panama in seven countries around the world in a tour called Panama Invest 2011.
The meetings, with which it seeks to attract investment, to be agreed with representatives from sectors such as maritime, logistics and transportation, mining, tourism and financial services, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The first event was held in Brazil on 16 June. Later will go to Toronto, Canada, on 17 June.
The third stop will be in Madrid, Spain, July 12, then go to Tokyo, Japan in September.
Munich, Germany, will be the destination for the month of October, and then visit Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and London, UK, in November.
The event is organized by the Agency for Investment Promotion and Export (PROINVEX
So what Panamian mining company do we know ?
What's up whis this ?
COCLÉ. Residents of the community of miners, the village of Pocrí in Aguadulce, ask the company Edemet Edechi them improve electric service.
Leisa Ridges, who has 17 years of living in this sector, said they are constant power outages, causing damage to appliances and the company is not liable.
We attempted to know the position of Edemet Edechi through its regional manager, Eduardo Garcia, but said they would comment later.
BARRIA ZABDY
You are hitting nail in the head..
The numbers are good. Why ?
30% increase in production… just think one more 30% will place them over 20K oz. They are very well prepare for the rainy season.
HL will drastically reduce labor cost plus increase the production.
Trades need to sell now, this is not going to be up and down SP swings anymore, but a steady increase in production, PDI will take a year , IR- two years, Portugal..— I love it, got plenty of time .. this one is a keeper.
See the woods behind two trees.
The way I read it - first they have to form the company, issue us the shares and then apply for listing on TSX, I see us be able to trade early in 2013 . And yes, production update is coming soon and company will advertise in the future.
Did anyone notice that Mr. Dieguez is from Spain ? Do you see a future post for him ?
VB
Al right , let not get so picky, at least we have a time- table of spin-out. (smile).
You will get a production update very soon.
And it is steady improving - that is important.
Good morning boys and girls. Even thou some of you criticized "May 31 PDI rumor", announcement about PDI future spin-off did come out.
It was just six days late, never the less prove that source was correct.
So while some of us sweltering in 100F heat or trying to dry-out from flood, or getting ready to snow-ski in Hawaii, I have something else to ask you:
How would Petaquilla benefit from Chinese involvement in Minera-Cobre?
Let chew on this one.
There is no rush here. It is a two part announcement.
First part describes PDI is in the process of obtaining lucrative contracts and work
value approximately US $ 72 mil.
Second part is conformation of intention to spin PDI:
"By the end of the first quarter of Fiscal 2012, the Company intends to present a Plan of Arrangement, or some other tax favorable mechanism, for approval by the Toronto Stock.."
By the time it will be approved and figured-out , you are looking into mid-2013.
It is not just " give me my shares now". The Company has to consider huge financial and tax consequences of such a spin.
Everything is getting done by the Plan, " getting ducks in a row ".
Sorry Lo , I was in such a hurry to post a news , did not see that you already did. Well, at least my rumor was partially correct – news about PTQ ,- just content is different, ha-ha… This is just a beginning. We will have to see what would follow..
Great news !
Petaquilla Minerals Ltd. (the “Company” or “Petaquilla”) (TSX:PTQ)(OTCBB:PTQMF)(FRANKFURT:P7Z) is pleased to announce that its infrastructure subsidiary, Panama Desarrollo de Infraestructuras, S.A. (“PDI Panama”), in a joint venture with Constructora MECO, has been awarded a contract by Minera Panama, S.A. (“MPSA”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Inmet Mining Corporation, to construct a 3.9 kilometre road. The road will bypass the Company’s Molejon gold mine and, thus, provide MPSA with direct access to their copper project in the District of Donoso, Colon Province, Panama.
The joint venture between PDI Panama and Constructora MECO, one of Costa Rica’s leading infrastructure development companies, is part of a previously defined strategy to develop alliances designed to take competitive advantage of PDI Panama’s construction experience in the Petaquilla Mining District and its access to aggregate material at Molejon.
To further develop its business in Panama, PDI Panama has identified numerous opportunities including the development of mini hydro (i.e. run of river) plants, the construction of heap leach pads and roads as well as the manufacturing and sale of construction materials. To this effect, PDI Panama has entered into a contract to sell 1.8 million cubic metres of construction aggregate within the next five years to a Panamanian construction company and is in the process of evaluating other agreements with a combined value of approximately US$72 million.
By the end of the first quarter of Fiscal 2012, the Company intends to present a Plan of Arrangement, or some other tax favourable mechanism, for approval by the Toronto Stock Exchange and subsequent submission to Petaquilla’s shareholders, to spin out the infrastructure arm of the Company. The exchange ratio for the proposed future spin-out, as previously announced, will be one (1) share of PDI for every four (4) shares of Petaquilla.
About Petaquilla Minerals Ltd. Petaquilla Minerals Ltd. is a gold producer operating its gold processing plant at its 100% owned Molejon Gold Project in Panama. The Molejon mine site is located in the south central area of the Company’s 100% owned 842 square kilometre concession lands, a region known historically for gold content.

Nothing wrong with passing a rumor, we have nothing else to do during this boring days of summer, and maybe date was correct just a different year , ha-ha.
But I am glad that your pessimism is turning positive: calling .70 a bottom.
Actually I worried when everyone on this board is beginning to be so positive.
I like to be optimist, but do enjoy reading posters who have questions and legitimate concerns, that keeps all angles in check and gives me proper perspective.
Suddenly, when everyone is happy and full of optimism- I might have to switch camp and start asking well deserved questions:
Are we happy with production luck of update?
Are we satisfy with drilling results in ODN?
Why we do not hear anything about IR lately ?
And where is DVM and rest of Canadian friends? What do they know we don't?
What would happen to the price of gold in 2012 if new President and Congress address a fiscal policy , rectify our LTD which will lead to a strong dollar.
I don't like to be in this " camp", but when the Board's pessimist turns optimist- I worry.
Bubble's head wiggles in one direction , only.
I don’t know about 0.05 but last summer it hit 0.35 , so you might get lucky if SP will pull back some.
OK, but don't forget we have to pay 1100 oz. per month to DB also.
Mark, a lot of us here not traders either, but rather buy/hold/sell = profit kind of guys, so you are in the right company. This stock does not follows technical analysis as well , but right PR or news can do a lot of good .
Just like you, we all concern with a stock price and would like to see it at least over $1 for now and going up… why it does not happening – your guess is as good as mine , but Q report is on a way and we will see if “ they just barely making it “. But you are also correct - they have only 10 years to make a buck unless other resources will add-on.
So as you said : they ‘d better “let that iron move dirt to make a gold” or we all will be making the gold somewhere else.
Mark , I did not know you have a mining experience . We can definitely use your experience to raise all concerns known and unknown . Don’t be a stranger , post more often.
Never under-estimate salvo/effect... it is time to buy .
If I can find a solution in 5 sec. Don't you think they can ?
By the way you are always welcome to post opposite view,
Heap Leach Pad Raincoats
Monday, July 30, 2007
The water balance of a heap leach pad may be detrimentally affected during the rainy season by excessive infiltration from heavy rains. Rain falling on the pad infiltrates and becomes part of the seepage from the base of the pad. Too much rain and you get too much dilution and a build up of excess water in the heap leach pad circuit.
One way to limit excess infiltration during the wet season is to put a temporary plastic cover over part or al of the pad. Such a cover sheds the water and precludes the water entering the heap leach pad circuit. A new paper by Breitenbach and Smith, both of Vector Engineering, describe the use of such covers which they colorfully call raincoat liners. They list these advantages of using raincoat liners:
•Protect weak ore and agglomerates from degradation and fines migration due to the impact and seepage of excess rainfall
•Reduced surplus water balance management
•Less dilution of process solutions for improved metal recovery
•Reduced reagent consumption in recirculated barren solutions
•Reduced likelihood of accidental spills due to excess storm pond water accumulation.
The authors list projects where liners include HDPE, PVC, and LLDPE. Which means, I suppose that whatever you have on hand can be used. In theory, the following criteria may be formulated:
•UV resistance for at least five years
•Flexibility to facilitate placement, removal, and relocation
•Puncture strength to resist damage by the rough surface of the heap leach material
•Sufficient strength to deal with anchorage stresses and wind loadings
•Some seam strength, although this is of lesser importance than it would be in a basal liner.
This is a fascinating idea. It appears to be practical. And it may be useful even in arid climates. The bottom line is cost. If it is cheaper to place such a cover than it is to deal with the wet season excess infiltration, this may work for you.
Panama rises another level in the risk rating
Economic Dynamism. The rating agency Fitch projected that Panama will grow by 7% in 2011 and 2012. LA PRENSA / Ana Rentería1563260
ROBERTO GONZÁLEZ JIMÉNEZ
roberto.gonzalez @ prensa.com
One year and three months after giving Panama investment grade sovereign credit rating, Fitch Ratings raised the note yesterday another step in the country, from BBB-to BBB in a ranking that measures the creditworthiness of countries and ability to repay debt.
Thus, Panama is at the same level as Mexico and Brazil, and is only surpassed by Chile in Latin America.
Economic dynamism and the evolution of debt behind the improvement. Fitch believes that tax reform and growth increase the flexibility of government to finance the investment plan of $ 13,500,000,000.00.
I don’t think it that simple. As you say : “ past performance …” and I am agree, that is why next summer ,for instance Petaquilla will gets everyone attention ( maybe it is a plan ), just in time for Cobre – Minera to start heavy development and just coincidently to spin PDI – perfect timing : Summer 2013 … and PTQ goes to $ 3 per share, and you are “ out”… past performance – no guarantee..
Of cause it is just one scenario, IMO.
Back to this summer : rains will have very little effect if any as a company is well prepare for it , unlike last year.
I anticipate all numbers to be much improved.
“ Glass half full . “ – but not for long.
More good news for PDI :
Inmet Mining has confirmed that the possibility of extending the operations of its future mine in Panama.
Copper project in Columbus, through its subsidiary Minera Panama, originally planning to do for 30 years or until 2045. However, the discovery of a high mineralization in the areas of grant changes planned.
Inmet announced positive results from the exploration of the site of Balboa product of drilling discovered during a geophysical survey in August 2010, says a company statement dated 31 May.
This deposit is not expected to be part of the initial plan of the mine, which intervene 5 000 900 hectares within its grant of 13 000 hectares in which there are three pits.
"The site of Balboa provides a significant increase in the expansion of production and mine life," explains the note of Inmet.
Minera Panama, meanwhile, declined to specify how much more will extend operations. For now, do studies to clarify the potential of Balboa, which has better grades of copper and gold, and located a thousand 500 meters west of the other tanks.
We believe that the contract is predatory Minera Panama for the country and it is unfortunate that it has been approved, said Alida Spadafora of the National Association for the Conservation of Nature. "We are vulnerable because the government lacks the capacity to enforce environmental laws fully," he added. The environmental impact study that evaluates took 28 months of work, involving over 100 scientists and their cost was $ 17 million.
Copper Project
ANNUAL PRODUCTION: removing an estimated 255 000 tonnes of copper, 90 thousand ounces of gold, 1.5 million ounces of silver and 3 000 200 tonnes of molybdenum.
BALBOA RESERVOIR: 19 holes have been drilled, and invested $ 9 million to drill 20 thousand feet.

Rock is rocking :
Lomero Poyatos closes this month
TheRock071
6/1/2011 8:26:05 PM | |
Conditional approval by TSX of the transaction has already been received.
It requires the Company to provide a variety of documentation including filing with the TSX a NI 43-101 Technical Report for Lomero Poyatos and a formal valuation of Iberian, each in a form acceptable to TSX prior to closing.
Final closing is expected later this month, subsequent to which a 15,000 m drilling program will be mounted.
Based on average POG for Q4 and assuming a 20 % increase in gold sales ( to 17,000 oz ) , PTQ's gross revenues for Q4 will exceed a record $25 million and set a pattern of sequential increases in quarterly revenues which should exceed $50 million ( $200 + million annualy ) by mid-2012.
Salman should be burping by now....
Welcome aboard Tim, don’t be a stranger and post more often ;0)
Why do you like PTQ ?
Thanks Lo, does it mean they can be 30 days late and report in September and November ?
I was just figuratively speaking and quoting Warren. Of cause I intent to take some profits of the table, still I am Long.
Jal, I was replying to acanuck on the news about Inmet drilling results. The way I see it – when we discuss Inmet – it brings PDI to light because as you know that how we are going to benefit from one of the biggest copper resource. And even thou chicken did not hatch yet – I like to get as many eggs as possible, (smile).
Going back to gold: Jal, I believe that we did huge improvements, compare with last year. We have a huge stockpile of ore right beside the loading facility, we are expanding our crasher and processing capabilities, and we here in mid-west pull all rain away from Panama due to some al-Nina/ butterfly effect. I hear some local Indians doing ritual rain- dance, praying to a Great Spirit to send the rain their way, as rivers and local wells are going dry, which will help our mining folks.
We are due for production update this month, 4Q and 2011 FY sometimes in September ( Lo can correct me on those dates ) .
Large investors like what they see - they have a long interest, they see a huge potential. They are not selling.
Of cause for you guys who want to trade this stock – you live and die on the “news”.
For those who have a long term horizon, like Warren Buffet said: “Some stock you keep forever”.
Let's put a thinking hat on , and try to imaging all those future contracts to build infrastructure... and don't forget about shipping port. Yes a lot of activities two years from now and Panamanian company gets a first bit.
Lo calls this a " gravy", I like a lot of gravy on my potatoes.
I just bought some more potatoes , don't think they'll get any chipper.
Salvo, you'll get your wish - update is coming this month.
I like how you playing it out for us Lo. ;0) Production update is coming in June.
Now you are talking ! I am fully agreed with you. To add: properly control greed is a positive thing.
We finally got a great weather in Mid-West , good time to spend with family and friends, celebrating Memorial Day.
Happy Holiday everyone and as they say :
Freedom is not free.
You are making it sound worse than it is. It is all chatter,- when Martinelli and Valera come back - they will be” friends” again. People ( just like sheep) will follow their leaders.
And I am not ” hopping” – I know PTQ is well prepare for the raining season and do much better than last year.
Geesh – all that negativity.
Gabbs, tell Lotte – she has a friend in USA.
Hi FWH, as you know statistically speaking only 2-3 % juniors will make it to the full production.
And yes- may be you will find twenty or thirty juniors like PTQ, but I don’t have money, time to invest in them all, so I personally choose this one.
I like uniqueness of this company – the only Panama mining company with a friendly government ( yes , at the end of the day ) and PDI – is a big plus – it gives me chance to participate in one of the biggest copper development.
But that’s me- each to its own.
A bit of OT ,this can be published in our press also :
A call for unity

I am a lady, nationalized Panama, 87 years old. Living in Panama since 1938. This is my home.
I was born in Germany and was fortunate to escape from there in 1938, with only 15 years old with my mother, father and brother. We managed to avoid the worst of the Holocaust, one of the worst and most gruesome moments in human history. Many of my family was exterminated in concentration camps.
As we embark on the town of Hamburg in 1938, our destination was the Republic of Panama. There lived a great aunt, Zelia Toledano. Panama welcomed us with open arms and the humility of a great nation.
I love Panama. I consider myself part of its people, customs, manners and I admire the love that shows respect for foreigners and the variety of races that comprise it.
We geographical landscapes with beautiful beaches, rivers, mountains, beautiful forests and nature rich variety of animals and plants. There are modern cities and picturesque villages. There are great universities and a healthy economy. The progress seems to us blessed. There is much hope for the country and its needy.
I am writing this because I am worried about my country and the damage that irresponsible media are doing to our wealth.
I see every day when I get the paper, a different reality to the beauty that I have described above. I see and read about hate and more hate, murder and alleged corruption, rights violations and more.
Justice does not seem to now be in the courts, but in newspapers and television. The media seem to encourage disrespect for the institutions, call the disorder, public lynching without respecting the principle of presumption of innocence.
Our politicians, elected leaders, opposition and community leaders seem to spend all the time fighting and accusing each other of wrongdoing, and society is drawn into this trouble.
What happened to mental health, spiritual and emotional? "They forgot the blessing of the beautiful country we live? Where are the good manners to applaud the good things, the work done and finished? Where we speak of good plans for the future? Did not the media understand that our leaders are people like everyone and need to be encouraged and supported? The newspapers always seem negative and sad.
I learned from hard experience the value of freedom and the blessing of living in a country without major natural disasters or wars. So we are fortunate in Panama.
We have politicians and leaders educated in good schools, children of good parents and caring of many religions.
They should use their knowledge, wisdom and good manners, not to destroy each other, but to help improve the situation of the country.
I called to assist the country with one or two good deeds a day. Granite granite contributions, we built a great country.
Think I'm old. Listen to me. I say this with all the force of my 87 years: Do not despise the power of smiles, good morning, the please, respect and good listening, be generous and give the hand to the needy.
Do not underestimate our potential to serve the world and show that we are a good country. Cultivate our fortune.
No tarnished our image and our good energy. Be healthy example for our children and the world. So we will live better. I guarantee it.
Nothing wrong with some fishing and drinking together and T@A show:
The president, Ricardo Martinelli, and Vice President Juan Carlos Varela, left yesterday on a "private visit" in the midst of the political earthquake emerged in the Assembly after the breakup of the political pact between their respective parties, Democratic Change (CD) and Panameñista .
The State Secretariat of Communication and Varela said Martinelli left the country with their children, which suggests that it is a pleasure trip. Target was not reported and the reason for the trip, only returning on Sunday night.
Mireya Moscoso, former president and party colleague of Varela, said that he has left the Panamanians "in a political limbo" since he left without explaining the future of the alliance government.
The Panamanian Antonio Dominguez said this is an "insult" to Panama.
On CD, his deputy, Rep. Roger Baruch, said the trip he found it "incredible."
See political uncertainty continues
by Alexander Green, Chief Investment Strategist
At the Investment U Conference in San Diego last week, I gave a talk called, “The Secret of the World’s Greatest Investors.”
What is that secret? I’ll give you three hints:
•Lord Rothschild said, “The time to buy is when there’s blood running in the streets.” He added that the way he got rich was he “always sold too soon.”
•John Templeton, the man who almost single-handedly pioneered the field of global investing, said the best bargains can only be found “at the point of maximum pessimism.”
•Warren Buffett, the world’s most successful investor, says, “You want to be very fearful when others are greedy and very greedy when others are fearful.”
In other words, the great investors have a contrarian spirit. They draw their own conclusions, not caring about the consensus…
Going Contrarian: The Difference Between An Investor and a Trader
...
Contrarians know that fear and greed cause people to push prices too high or too low. So the key is to look at market fluctuations as your friend rather than your enemy. You want to profit from folly, not participate in it.
But there’s something else important to note here…
•True investors think long-term.
•They often hold their stocks for years.
•Indeed, Buffett says his favorite holding period is “forever.”
When you have this long-term perspective, you can sit comfortably when things are going against you.
But a trader is in the game for short-term profits. He doesn’t want to wait years for profits. He wants to generate them quickly.
If You Want Short-Term Trading Success, Don’t Be Contrarian…
For this reason, he should not use a contrarian approach. Here’s why …
Some analysts make a big deal of investing against “the consensus.” But the average investor – who is following the major market trend – is actually right most of the time. It is only when the stock market goes to extreme highs or lows that the consensus opinion is wrong.
So if you want to be a good short-term trader, buy the best companies that are moving up (always using trailing stops, of course), or short troubled companies that are breaking down (always using a buy stop, of course).
I know some analysts, for example, who have been resolutely bearish on the market not just for years, but for decades. They relish the fact that they’re outsiders and that they get to call equity investors “chumps, patsies and fools.”
They relish this point of view even when they have egg on their faces. That’s because they’re really more interested in being contrarian than in being right.
That’s not the way to make money.
A smart trader invests with the trend, always strictly limiting his risk with trailing stops. A smart investor goes with the trend sometimes and against it only when the market is experiencing extremes in both valuation and sentiment.
As Warren Buffett famously said, “You’re right not because you agree with the crowd or disagree with the crowd, but because your facts and reasoning are right.”
I see your point, but it is always easy to be " Monday morning quarterback", wish I traded my GPL when it was $5 thou...
