No Collapse Here!
Gold's a buy at $600
And DECN is too at $0.15
But both of those prices are about half their current price.
What's your point?
I wouldn't.
The point I was trying to make was that half-price is compelling, no reason to build expectations of one-quarter price.
Misunderstood post - I removed it.
pluto,
I don't think it's a good idea to set an expectation for GenStrips being one quarter the price of One Touch. There seems to be many other suppliers on Amazon that supply One Touch strips at a much lower price than Sal's example.
That said, I looked at Walmart and for One Touch strips the site said "This Item is no longer available.
I'm not a diabetic, so I don't know if this is new, or old news.
I agree with ksuave on this one. Genstrips are about half the price of the oneTouch strips, not a quarter of the price.
"Someone made a phone call."
And who do you imagine that was? And why would they have manipulated the OTC classification down, and then up again.
Conspiracy theories are seldom accurate. Elaborate ones are almost always designed for FUD, in the OTC market.
Rich,
Perhaps, I've misunderstood. What did you mean by the quoted sentence?
"Keith Berman was a defendant in a lawsuit"
And how much did the court order him to pay? Oh - he didn't have to pay anything?
Does Note 6 from the 1Q 2016 Financial Report help clarify?
"NOTE 6 – Acquisition of Certain Properties
In March 2014 the Company agreed to acquire certain properties from Shasta Technologies LLC. The agreement
covering this acquisition is now the subject of two litigations, one litigation related to the remaining proceeds of an IP
defense insurance policy, the other litigation concerning damages the company is trying to collect from Shasta
Technologies LLC owing to Shasta’s subsequent undisclosed issues with the U.S. FDA. The original purchase price
for this property was expected to be $2,000,000 (cash). The company is anticipating offsets much higher than the assets
purchase price and will pursue collection of these additional offsets at an appropriate time. The Company has not yet
recorded this acquisition on its books because the acquisition terms have not yet been fully determined and the final
acquisition price to be determined by the court. The company did register this FDA cleared product with the U.S. FDA
in 2014 and 2015 and reregistered the product again in 2016 knowing that a new registration process would be required
to adhere to the U.S. FDA UDI mandate to go into effect in September 2016.

I do not know Keith Berman well. I've spoken with him twice this year for a total time of less than an hour. It turns out we share some common background, but that's irrelevant for discussions about DECN. We did discuss message boards very briefly. My impression was that he occasionally scanned message boards, but does not post on them. But that is just my best guess.
I did not know what "lickspittle sycophant" meant. I looked it up and got a chuckle. I am not Keith Berman (hint - I live in CT, am retired and older than him). Other than owning DECN stock, and the two brief phone conversations mentioned above, I haven't had any contact with him and do not even know what he looks like (though I'm sure I'm better looking
It's OK that we disagree, but it can be a delight for me to share something that someone else finds interesting too.
Thanks (BTW, not my field of study either)
Did you know that KB actually personally met one of them?
No, you don't get it
"Everything you disagree with or can't explain must be small picture. I think I get it."
A big picture perspective (in my case ENTP - google it if you don't know what that means) isn't better or worse. I tend to ignore most of the short-term details and focus on the longer term potential. To me, the short term stuff is just noise (unless it is really bad or good).
I respect that others have a genuine desire to do DD on concrete facts. But my strategic decisions are based on my assessment of likely futures.
We are probably wired differently
I have no idea what you are asking
Look at Myers-Briggs personality classifications to see what I meant by big picture.
In my experience honest questions do not include pejorative terms like weasel. So I choose to not respond to the details of the question.
Thanks - giggling at our differences in perspective
I find all of your reply irrelevant
"How likely is it that "it was filed with the SEC as confidential" at a time when the company wasn't even filing its financials with the SEC?"
I have no idea. As I've said, I have no legal or accounting background and I'm a big picture kind of guy.
But I'm not ignorant either. The logical transformation of your quoted post is:
It's unlikely that "it was filed with the SEC as confidential".
That is a clear opinion without any facts to back it up.
You have more work to do.
In my experience, shooting the messengers is not a productive path.
Can you tell us WHY?
Sure, confidential agreements among companies are routine, as you know.
I worked for IBM for 32 years. In my last 5 years, we had over 20,000 new agreements each year. None of them were disclosed to share holders.
DECN is certainly in a different league than IBM was, but the principle is the same.
Confidential agreements are not share-holder hostile. Some other evidence can make them so, but none has been provided, and I don't expect that there will be.
So, I'm sitting pat on my 350K shares.
And that is an unbiased question?
And how is this okay?
It may not be OK, but I don't care.
To me, this is accounting trivia. I'm a big picture kind of guy. I recognize that details matter, but in my experience that potentially very big things matter a lot more. The potentially biggest thing for DECN is to establish a substantial, and rapidly growing presence in the glucose strip testing market. If they do, all other things will pale in comparison.
Personally, I expect them to do it this year. If they don't by the 1H of 2017, I'll consider my investment a total loss.
Industrial Espionage on DECN
JNJ did all they could to sue DECN into oblivion and lost what looks to have been the big battle. They have shown that are ready to fight dirty (threatening to sue most of DECN's 1st and 2nd level customers using information obtained through court disclosures) and I see no reason to believe they wouldn't do it again if there is an opportunity that will benefit them, regardless of the impact on DECN share holders. JNJ is an enemy and they've earned that.
Industrial espionage can cause heavy damage to shareholders. Given the potentially lucrative market that DECN has targeted and it's strategy to undercut the current market leaders, this is a very hostile environment for DECN. And all 4 of the major players have deep pockets and certainly want to protect their cash cows.
So as a DECN stockholder, I'm alarmed that a confidential document was posted here. What other information was collected and what might be available with persistence.
Where did the document in the post come from?
Birds of a feather?
Lame attempt at guilt by association with no evidence
Great post, and I agree. Not!
I agree - key question is sales revenue
Nice clear and simple post which happens to mirror my thoughts exactly.
Yep, I think you're right
I just scanned scoop's note and didn't see the context. I'll try to get my mistake removed.
"Answers like this speak to a dismissal of what's important"
OK. I accept titles are very important to you, but they are not to me. Let's let others make their own decision about what is important to them.
99+% of Pharmatech and DesionIT shares are owned by DECN
I have no idea and don't care
It means Principal Executive Officer, which you have probably read before in DECN documents, but perhaps forgotten.
I agree, it is not a common title, in my experience. But I don't care about titles.
You can chose to consider my word honest, or not. That is up to you.
Yeah, but they're 99+% owned by DECN
"Too bad more people aren't asking even more questions."
"This is what should be discussed here."
LOL!
What else is management guilty of? Huh - LOL
Your response wasn't even vaguely connected with my post.
What were insights you gained from your call?
I just addressed it - there is no issue
I can't. But decided real-time in the conversation that if the super-majority number was over 99%, it wasn't worth pursuing to me.
I believed him
Rich,
I've never suggested that people call the company. Not a single time.
Unlike many others, I don't encourage it unless there is a very good reason.
