OOO,
I didn't hear anything that gave me a "feeling" of revenue for the coming quarter, no reference to 2-3 million of anything.
I did hear the part about not giving any guidance on yearly results.
I like the leadership style of under promise over deliver.
I hope I'm wrong about pain today.
That is good logical analyses. AAPL will not be held hostage by any one supplier in any one part of the world. Split your machine count between two companies far apart and I think your right.
I have no idea what one of these machines cost but will find out.
I still have little hope of LQMT realizing more money from this deal but would love to be wrong. Time will tell. If ( BIG IF) they do get any back end royalty this stock will explode.
Goodnight All
OOO,
You can listen to the CC again by dialing the original CC number and asking the operator for a replay. He/she will give you a new 888 number to call and a pass code to hear it again. I just did this and recorded it for my own archives.
That and I'm a little slow and sometimes it takes a few listenings for me to processes all I hear. Especially when my head is exploding with adrenaline.
I've read it many times also.
I didn't post it for me but as a reply.
Goodnight all
Understood
On August 5, 2010, we entered into a license transaction with Apple Inc. (“Apple”) pursuant to which (i) we contributed substantially all of our intellectual property assets to a newly organized special-purpose, wholly-owned subsidiary, called Crucible Intellectual Property, LLC (“CIP”), (ii) CIP granted to Apple a perpetual, worldwide, fully-paid, exclusive license to commercialize such intellectual property in the field of consumer electronic products, as defined in the license agreement, in exchange for a license fee, and (iii) CIP granted back to us a perpetual, worldwide, fully-paid, exclusive license to commercialize such intellectual property in all other fields of use. Additionally, in connection with the license transaction, Apple required us to complete a statement of work related to the exchange of Liquidmetal intellectual property information. The Company recognized a portion of the one-time license fee upon receipt of the initial payment and completion of the foregoing requirements under the license transaction. The remaining portion of the one-time license fee was recognized at the completion of the required statement of work.
but..
Under the agreements relating to the license transaction, we are obligated to contribute all intellectual property that we develop through February 2012 to CIP. In addition, we are obligated to refrain from encumbering any assets subject to the Apple security interest through August 2012 and are obligated to refrain from granting any security in our interest in CIP at any time. We are also obligated to maintain certain limited liability company formalities with respect to CIP at all times after the closing of the license transaction. If we are unable to comply with these obligations, Apple may be entitled to foreclose on our assets.
big but...
and are obligated to refrain from granting any security in our interest in CIP at any time.
Define "interest".
Until we read the entire agreement this is LQMT only hope in realizing more from AAPL.
BTW It was 20ml not 30ml.
The answer to your question about AAPL is unknowable for now but...
Jobs was a brutal negotiator.
AAPL would not put them selves at LQMTs mercy.
I believe the only thing left to come out of the AAPL agreement is the prestige of association.
I have not read the entire agreement. I don't believe anyone has except the parties involved. This is only a guess.
Look forward to your postings on the 10K.
I have not looked at the 10k yet. My guesses were based on years of following this company. I've watched it for eight years. I only bought in now because of the actions of management. That 10k should show no debt per the CC. Cash on hand of 122k is more than I expected.
My wife and kids are going skiing this next week and I'll take that opportunity to drive my 1988 c900 Saab over to Denver and see the machine at Visser. I've got an address and I love road trips.
I'm sorry to hear your swinging on this one but I wouldn't cut loose here. Just relax and average down. It could be worse, look at my share count. I would be surprised if many here have the skin in this company that I do.
Have a good weekend, it's beautiful here in Atlanta.
That was my reactive statement based on income compared to the last two years expenses. ie: office, R&D, salaries. Now I will base it on the CC.
Tom said, "They have one machine running Beta @ $100 minimum per part price." You have to admit this is a long way from producing for any big player. Tom said the lead time for new machines is 26 weeks. He did not state that anymore machines have been ordered nor was he asked.
Yes, they are not paying to manufacture parts but they have little coming in and appear to be burning at 1.2ml for R&D( confirmed on the call) and 1.45ml general office expense. They will not break even till they are shipping 1ml a month or 12ml a year in finished parts. New customer to finished part is 18 months+. Prior customer to finished part is 6 months. Projected margins are down to 35 - 45%. He is not looking to license anymore so the only source of revenue I see is the one machine in Denver. (All per the CC)
You are right that we haven't seen a balance sheet but when asked about cash on hand Tom did not answer directly but instead said they are not paying for production. I would have felt much better with a cash on hand figure. He was proud that everything so far has been done without incurring new debt but we won't know if that's sustainable till Q1 shipments totals are released with P&L.
I'm not trying to talk the price down. I believe it will tank without me. I will buy more because I like looking over the horizon but realize in this "traders" world most won't be patient and many will bail on this next week. As I've clearly said before, put nothing in this stock you're not ready to completely lose.
I don't know you and you don't know me but re-listen to the call and look at the last two years expenses, backing out coatings, this income statement and help me reconcile them. I'm honored that you would think highly of me but all I try to do is speak fact and I'll be the second to say I may have jumped the gun on seeing that income statement. I would not be shocked if they need to take on debt. If past performance is any indicator they will issue more stock. They have authorization for 300ml shares.
I will buy more because the tech is amazing, because Tom is clearing out most of the dead wood, because the new business model is the only way they survive, because I love long shots with a chance. I don't care how low the price goes as long as they stay in business and make progress. If they do that the share price will take care of itself.
I've make may case rebut at will. PDP
This may push the price down to .05 to .1 Monday morning. It will wash out all weak hands and should. There is a chance that LQMT will run out of money. That said I will finish building my position this quarter. 1/3 there 2/3 to go. This should get me built out at less than .1 pps. Good luck to the real longs and goodbye to the day traders.
OOO,
Thanks for the private replies, I just found that feature. Best to you.
.plus, we got that guy hiring his own Bud Foxx to stake out the LQMT offices so he can be right on a pick.
Please give me the skinny. I'm in th dark.
We can only hope Tom sneaks up to the door and kicks it open.
About this Materion filing, it's from 2010.
Are you saying on page 59 that this is the first time Apple has been included and is that the same for HonHoi = Foxconn.
Great find and goes a long way toward explaining why all the insiders have been converting options to shares in the last month. Mostly Salas who now has 11,000,000 + shares. (What a Asshole.)
I am also AAPL consumer and investor. I agree with most of your points. Especially: "The unknown is LMs radio wave transparency." This is a true wild card.
I can't ascibe to knowing AAPL's ethic.
BTW I've bought an old LQMT tennis racket by Head and am going to use the Dremmel tonight to cut it apart. It is supposed to have four pieces of LQMT in opposing corners.
OOO,
Checking GLW the quarter before an iPhone release may give a clue as to what can be said. I would be shocked and worried if LQMT said anything about AAPL. My is fear related to non disclosure. Reading the Jobs' book was the first real confirmation that GLW was involved. I would expect for AAPL to confirm nothing before a product launch.
If LQMT is used in the case there will be no hiding it. I still have the SIM card ejector that came with my third iPhone and it's clearly LQMT.
Many of the same rumors from last years iPhone update are being recycled this time around. I think one of the best things APPL could do is to make the back of the iPhone from LQMT. I've broken four iPhone 4's this time around. Three myself and one for my wife. I always buy the AAPL care and they replaced the first two with no charge. That's warranty cost for them and all that would have been saved with a stronger case. Jobs never liked the cases that people buy for the phone and neither do I. It hides a beautiful design with a bulky piece of plastic. Some speculate that AAPL would not want to give up the revenue of case sales. I think that's bull and that they couldn't care less about selling cases. Even if they made it indestructible many would buy the cases anyway. The back of my iPad is badly scratched and my wife's lap top case is also scratched. I think AAPL would love to solve this issue.
The greatest hope I have for LQMT is that during the intro of the next iPhone Cook says that the new case is made from LQMT. He could do this without worry since no other electronics maker can use the material.
Thank you, Stockgreen
Please post some facts on the sale of this division because it's still listed in the products section of the LQMT website. Thanks PDP
I think your on the money about the last day of the quarter.
He's what I worry about with LQMT. Anyone still with the company that was with Kang. Specifically Mr. Ricardo A. Salas who has been in trouble with the SEC before. He was also part of the accounting issues during Kang's tenure. If I saw him leave or fired I would increases my share count greatly.
Being that it is what it is I have a cap of no more than 1/4 of a million on this stock. My position is 1/3 complete and I hope for turmoil this week and after earnings to build out the rest of my position. In a perfect world I would have 1.8 million shares at a .14 cent average.
Time to watch Federer and Roddick in Miami. Great match going on with Roddick taking the first set in a tie breaker. Good night fellas.
Many companies release before the markets open or after they close and considering it's a west coast company I would be surprised if they went into the office at 05:30 their time to do a conference call and release before the markets open. I read little into the time of release and more into the release being done before the March 30 deadline extension of year ending earnings release.
Who knows what we'll get but as most of you I hope for good news on products produced and shipped. Best to all longs and I look forward to the 15% who are short getting their faces ripped off.
Todays action made me buy 100k more @ .18 on the nose. Volume turned out not to be too bad.
Short answer, No
If you find yourself unable to sleep this chestnut should help.

I'm sure these are nothing new for most of you.
Yamma, I reread my last post and your post on your conversation with Tom and realize that you said he didn't say anything. I would love to know specifically what he did say and apologize for insulting you by saying I don't believe your post. Truth is I don't know.
OOO,
Understood. I read that a few days ago about Tom and my eyes popped too. When I thought about it I wasn't sure I liked it or believed it.
I have to ask why Liquid Metal is spelled as two words instead of as Liquidmetal? This is the same company that used a surface paint on the seats of a concept car back in 2010 called Liquid Metal.
Also as far as talking to CEO is concerned, how much could he say it is the quite period. If you did speak with him I'm not sure that's a good thing. The last thing we need is any CEO issues. Lastly, I echo OOO comments and would like to know everything said.
Thanks PDP
To all LQMT longs I'm posting my shares for sale in order to lock them out from short sellers. I only have 600k but it's a start. I've placed a sell order at $4.00 Will it help? No but they're not shorting my shares and if I get sold out I'll cry on my way to the Porsche Dealer.
Part of his package, I would be surprised if he wasn't also receiving a salary. His interest seem well aligned with ours.
I read in one of the filings that CEO compensation is 1 million shares+/- a year for 5 years with a exercise price of .49c. Same for CFO.
One more thing in the long line of things I don't understand.

It should also be noted that Apple's patent actually presents very little reference in respect to what end products Apple is aiming for. The only reference in the patent of an end-product range is as follows: "This increased efficiency is particulary useful for the application of fuel cells in mobile devices and equipment, such as automobiles and the like because the less bulky the fuel cell, the easier it is to provide storage for the device on such a mobile device." Read into that as you will.
I'm not smart enough to know what this means and the info is old.

That was a really good prayer breakfast speech. The summation of Jesus being either a lier, crazy or God is something to ponder. Thanks for all the DD. If anyone deserves to make good on this you do. All the best. PDP
I read in the last earning statement that the CEO wanted customer shipments out by the end of Dec 2011 and according to the press release they didn't start shipping till March. I maybe wrong on this but that was my impression.
I've now read all the post here and there are a few things I would like to correct. " I've got a friend who's golf club cracked..." This was given as a reason for Liquid Metal clubs not being in the market anymore. They are not in the market because the USGA banned them. Why? They are too hard and hit the ball too far!
We could spend days speculating about Apple and what it means but we'll know when we know. The only thing I know is that Apple's devices get smaller, faster, and cheaper. If LQMT fits into advancing any of these areas it will be used. Apple to date has made small acquisitions that are integrated years later and I expect the same here.
This is an amazing tech advance. The coatings, fabrication and powders are revolutionary. If they find a market beyond 20 million a year the world will come after them.
I bought in because they finally shipped product, even though it was 3 months late. Shipping product is all any of us should care about. I hope that's all LQMT management cares about. If they don't I don't believe they will continue to get second, third, and forth chances.
Happy hunting. This is a long term hold for me ...if it surrvives.
I've read all of your posts for the last year and thank you all for your DD. Good luck with LQMT. I personally bought 440k shares today to add to my 60k. The only other penny stock I've touched in 12 years of investing was SIRI and that has been great. BTW I still have a flash drive made from Liquid Metal. The drive casing still looks great and shows no wear. Also gave my wife a bracelet of LM and she gets compliments on it all the time. It's one for the few metals that doesn't make her skin rash. Happy hunting all.
