Oil weapon raised
The deputy head of Iran’s volunteer Basij militia warned on Monday that pressuring Iran could result in the disruption of international oil flows through the strategic Gulf waterway.
“We control the strait of Hormuz. It is the only way for the flow of 40 percent of the world’s energy,” Commander Majid Mirahmadi told the semi-official Fars news agency.
Iran controls one side of the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow waterway at the mouth of the Gulf through which about two fifths of the world’s globally traded oil passes.
He did not say how those flows would be affected but some Iranian officials have previously hinted Iran, the world’s fourth largest oil exporter, could use oil as a weapon in its nuclear standoff with the West.
Mirahmadi said any aggression against Iran could stir trouble for the United States or Israel, which Iran refuses to recognize.
Israel has refused to rule out pre-emptive military action against Iran along the lines of its 1981 air strike against an atomic reactor in Iraq.
“We can endanger the Zionist regime’s security ... Iran’s message is security for everyone or no one,” Mirahmadi said.

ot ~ High Tech Bartender ~ joke
Priceless...
A man walked into a very high-tech bar. As he sat down on a stool he noticed that the bartender was a robot. The robot clicked to attention and asked, "Sir, what will you have".
The man thought a moment then replied, "A martini please".
The robot clicked a couple of times and mixed the best martini the man had ever had.
The robot then asked, "Sir, what is your IQ".
The man answered "Oh, about 164."
The robot then proceeded to discuss the theory of relativity, interstellar space travel, the latest medical break-through's, etc.
The man was most impressed. He left the bar but thought he would try a different tact. He returned and took a seat. Again the robot clicked and asked what he would have. "A martini please".
Again it was superb. The robot again asked. "What is your IQ sir".
This time the man answered, "Oh, about 100".
The robot started discussing Nascar racing, the latest basketball scores, and what to expect the Dodgers to do this weekend.
The guy had to try it one more time. He left, returned and took a stool. Again a martini, and the question, "What is your IQ".
This time the man drawled out, "Uh... about 50".
The robot clicked then leaned close and very slowly asked...

'Carbon monoxide epidemic' kills 14
POSTED: 4:43 a.m. EST, December 19, 2006
Story Highlights• NEW: Four family members found dead in Seattle suburb
• NEW: Death toll now 14 from Thursday storm
• Temperatures on Monday in low to mid-20s in affected area
• 200,000 homes and businesses still without power
Adjust font size:
SEATTLE, Washington (AP) -- -- Four family members were found dead Monday in their home of apparent carbon monoxide poisoning, bringing the death toll from the Northwest's worst windstorm in a decade to 14.
The four -- one woman and three males -- were found in a home in Burien, a south Seattle suburb, along with another relative who was clinging to life, said King County sheriff's Sgt. John Urquhart. Like many in the area left without power after the storm, they had been running a generator in their garage, authorities said.
"Other family members had last talked to them around Saturday," Urquhart said. "They called us to make a welfare check. We broke into the house and found them."
Carbon monoxide -- an odorless, colorless and highly toxic gas -- was also responsible for killing two men over the weekend. One had been using a portable generator in his living room; the other was using a charcoal grill to heat his bedroom.
At least 100 people have developed symptoms of exposure to carbon monoxide since the winds knocked out power to more than a million homes and businesses late last week. Dozens were treated in a hyperbaric chamber that re-oxygenates the blood at Virginia Mason Medical Center, officials said.
Of the 14 storm-related deaths, 12 were in Washington and two were in Oregon.
"We're dealing with a carbon monoxide epidemic in Western Washington," said Dr. Neil B. Hampson at Virginia Mason's Center for Hyperbaric Medicine. "This has the potential to be the worst case of carbon monoxide poisoning in the country."
The region's worst windstorm in more than a decade struck on Thursday, knocking out power to more than 1.5 million homes and businesses. Wind gusted to 113 mph during the storm near Mount Rainier and to a record 69 mph at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
About 200,000 customers were still without power in western Washington, utilities reported, as temperatures were in the low to mid-20s over most of the affected area early Monday. Authorities said it could be days before power is restored. (Watch residents cope with downed trees, long lines for gas )
Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire declared a statewide disaster and the state National Guard was mobilized to help get fuel and supplies to hard-hit areas.

yeah, ctb...i'm all over the map w/work, rb, here, and emails... i just scanned the search results under calendar and i did not look at everything.
pg 15 calendar days before the date of the co's. proxy statementreleased to the shareholders: (2) The deadline is calculated in the following manner if the proposal is submitted for a regularly scheduled annual
meeting. The proposal must be received at the company’s principal executive offices not less than 120 calendar
days before the date of the company’s proxy statement released to shareholders in connection with the previous
year’s annual meeting. However, if the company did not hold an annual meeting the previous year, or if the date
of this year’s annual meeting has been changed by more than 30 days from the date of the previous year’s meeting,
then the deadline is a reasonable time before the company begins to print and mail its proxy materials.
ctb, multi~tasking w/work. what pg and i'll try to copy and paste it.

good morning. Oil jumps after OPEC sets fresh supply cut
Cartel has agreed to cut oil output by 500,000 barrels a day, or 2 percent, but not until February.
December 14 2006: 7:22 AM EST
LONDON (Reuters) -- Oil prices jumped on Thursday morning on OPEC's decision to cut oil output by 500,000 barrels a day beginning in February.
Front-month January contracts for U.S. light crude climbed $1.07 to $62.43 a barrel in electronic trading, on top of a 35-cent gain on Wednesday.
CNN's Kristie Lu Stout reports Abu Dhabi is primed to become a top business and tourism center. (December 13)

In London, Brent crude for January delivery rose $1.09 to $62.42 a barrel.
The U.S. government reported Wednesday that crude stocks fell 4.3 million barrels last week as imports declined, while the International Energy Agency said industrialized countries' crude stocks fell 40 million barrels in October - a trend that continued last month as well.
The numbers strengthened the position of OPEC delegates who preferred to enforce the last cut before adding a new one.
"We are satisfied with the decision we took in Doha," Kuwaiti Oil Minister Sheikh Ali al-Jarrah al-Sabah told reporters, referring to OPEC's emergency gathering in October.
Oil has fallen from a mid-July peak of $78.40 but is still historically high at triple the price at the end of 2001.
Higher Asian demand coupled with worries over supply from Iraq, Nigeria, Iran and Russia helped fuel the rally.
shoot, i have shares that i'd bought @ .9's, .10's, and .11's ....hanging in there :)
yeah, just sent an email saying if this was going to blow past .06 now's the time to do it. guess what!?!
