World graphite market
Graphite becoming a critical, strategic material. The importance of it on the market will grow with green technologies. For the market of electric car, demand by 2020 could require more than is produced globally today. Then also add the electronics market and nuclear energy.
The restricted and unstable supply in China (70% of world production) give us the opportunity to increase supply outside China.
For the graphite used in the battery application only, demand is expected to increase from 125,000 tons in 2010 to 320,000-640,000 tons in 2020; a growth rate of 10-18%.
Apple Inc.AAPL +5.32% hired a top researcher in virtual and augmented reality, the latest sign that the tech giant is studying the rapidly advancing technologies.
Apple confirmed a report in the Financial Times that it hired Doug Bowman, a computer-science professor at Virginia Tech who leads the university’s Center for Human-Computer Interaction.
Mr. Bowman has won awards for research into virtual and augmented reality, with projects such as “VR for Sports Anxiety” and “Llamas vs. Kiwis,” an augmented-reality game that lets users manipulate digital characters in a tablet’s view of the real world. Mr. Bowman was also a member of one of five teams in November to win $100,000 grants from Microsoft Corp.MSFT +3.59% to conduct research with the company’s augmented-reality Hololens glasses.
Apple declined further comment. Mr. Bowman didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment; his university email address said he was on sabbatical leave until August 2016.
Virtual reality uses headsets and headphones to immerse users in experiences that seem to be all around them. Augmented, or mixed, reality places digital objects in user’s view of the real world via smartphones, tablets or glasses-like devices. Investors and tech companies have poured billions of dollars into the technologies over the past several years, and analysts predict both could be transformative for entertainment and industry.

POSCO Chemtech Ramps up Anode Material Production Capacity
Korean companies, including Samsung SDI and LG Chem, are vying for the world's No. 1 spot, the anode material market has been dominated by Japanese and Chinese suppliers. In this segment, accordingly, the demand for localization has increased acutely. With the latest capacity expansion, POSCO Chemtech expects more than 30 billion won worth of import substitution effect in a year.
South Korea’s LG Chem may well be on the verge of becoming the dominant global supplier of lithium ion cells for electric vehicles. A report this week from Japan’s Nikkei news service claims that LG is close to finalizing a deal to supply its cells to Tesla Motors TSLA -27.23%.
Since the birth of the modern electric vehicle industry with the launch of the Tesla Roadster in 2008, Tesla has purchased virtually all of the hundreds of millions of 18650 cells installed in the Model S and Roadster from Japan’s Panasonic . However, as Tesla has continued to lose money every quarter and burn cash at a prodigious rate, the Silicon Valley upstart desperately needs to cut its costs. Tesla just launched the Model X crossover a month ago, but is now only now getting started on full-scale development of its first mainstream car, the Model III.
That third model which Tesla has claimed will offer a 200-mile driving range and $35,000 price point will need to be much less expensive to manufacture if Tesla is ever going to be profitable. Tesla’s current approach of packaging as many as 8,000 cells into a battery pack makes for a complex and expensive assembly even if the cost of the individual cells is relatively low.
ADVERTISING
About a year from now, General Motors GM +0.00% will launch its own 200-mile EV at about the same price point as the Model III. GM is collaborating closely with LG Chem on the development of the Chevrolet Bolt EV, with both companies building on the lessons learned over two generations of the Volt, plus the Spark EV and the Cadillac ELR and CT6 plug-in hybrid.
GM has made significant progress on reducing the cost of its battery packs thanks to developments from LG. Compared to the first-generation Volt, the cells used in the new model, the Spark and the CT6 are thicker and offer more energy capacity, now at 96-wh each. That has enabled GM to increase the capacity of the Volt pack from the original 16.4-kWh to 18.4-kWh while reducing the cell count from 288 to 192. Eliminating one-third of the cells has enabled GM to similarly reduce the part count of most of the components in the pack, reducing the total assembly cost.
TER: How soon could Western Lithium be in production in Argentina and Nevada?
CL: It has the Argentina mine shovel-ready. It is finalizing financing with a Korean partner that has already committed to providing 100% financing for the mine and the production. The recent rise in the lithium price probably gave the Koreans more urgency to start the lithium mine as soon as possible because, unlike China, Korea cannot produce any lithium. All its lithium has to be imported, so it was probably hurt the most from the recent lithium squeeze. That means Western Lithium is in a very good position to negotiate the best terms, enabling it to move into production as soon as next year, 2017.
TER: What about Western Lithium's Nevada project? What is holding that up?
CL: That one is two to three years behind the Argentina one. The company is probably focused right now on getting Argentina into production, and then it will focus on Nevada again. It's a little bit behind, but again, it's a nice property and it's in the same state as the new Tesla Motors Inc. (TSLA:NASDAQ) battery gigafactory. Tesla last year was looking for partners to supply lithium for its gigafactory. It already signed some memos of understanding with a number of companies, including Pure Energy Minerals Ltd. (PE:TSX.V). I wouldn't be surprised if Tesla is interested in this property as well.

Yes I do a lot of charting and we just had a Hammer then a DOJI then we broke a level of resistance and we are above the Ichimoku Cloud on a daily chart and .24 should be a strong support level to look at to see if it holds.
In order to understand the effects of low oil prices on the Russian economy as one has to know is there's already been a 56% drop and Russia's currency value. As for this company it will climb out of this, the future of payment collections has gone through a paradigm shift and net element stands to capitalize within the next few years exponentially.
With dilution came a lot of consolidation if you look at the charts it becomes extremely harder for the stock to penetrate through certain levels of resistance. But with an extremely high higher buying volume in conjunction with good news earnings forecast we could see a spike over a dollar in a single day trade
Yeah this stock would skyrocket if they got trench funding

Graphene Offers Emission Tunability for Terahertz Lasers
Now researchers at the University of Manchester in the UK have demonstrated that they can tune a terahertz laser so that there is reversible control over its emission. They’ve done so by combining a graphene sheet with a terahertz quantum cascade laser. The key to this control over the laser’s emission is manipulating the doping of the graphene layer to change the concentration of charge carriers.

Revolutionary new graphene elastomer exceeds sensitivity of human skin
A new sponge-like material, discovered by Monash researchers, could have diverse and valuable real-life applications. The new elastomer could be used to create soft, tactile robots to help care for elderly people, perform remote surgical procedures or build highly sensitive prosthetic hands.
Graphene-based cellular elastomer, or G-elastomer, is highly sensitive to pressure and vibrations. Unlike other viscoelastic substances such as polyurethane foam or rubber, G-elastomer bounces back extremely quickly under pressure, despite its exceptionally soft nature. This unique, dynamic response has never been found in existing soft materials, and has excited and intrigued researchers Professor Dan Li and Dr Ling Qiu from the Monash Centre for Atomically Thin Materials (MCATM).
According to Dr Qiu, "This graphene elastomer is a flexible, ultra-light material which can detect pressures and vibrations across a broad bandwidth of frequencies. It far exceeds the response range of our skin, and it also has a very fast response time, much faster than conventional polymer elastomer.
"Although we often take it for granted, the pressure sensors in our skin allow us to do things like hold a cup without dropping it, crushing it, or spilling the contents. The sensitivity and response time of G-elastomer could allow a prosthetic hand or a robot to be even more dexterous than a human, while the flexibility could allow us to create next generation flexible electronic devices," he said.
Professor Li, a director of MCATM, said, "Although we are still in the early stages of discovering graphene's potential, this research is an excellent breakthrough. What we do know is that graphene could have a huge impact on Australia's economy, both from a resources and innovation perspective, and we're aiming to be at the forefront of that research and development."
Dr Qiu's research has been published in the latest edition of the prestigious journal Advanced Materials and is protected by a suite of patents.

Ascent Solar (ASTI) Stock: This Is a Steal
scent Solar Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ASTI)
In general, I advise against investing in penny stocks. When a stock trades at such a low value, there’s too much up in the air, and in many cases, losses can be very big, very quick. However, in the case of Ascent Solar, I have to change my opinion. The reality is that at current levels, ASTI is providing investors with an incredible discount. Today, we’ll talk about what we’ve seen from Ascent solar as of late, and why I’m so confident that at today’s value of $0.07 per share, this is a strong opportunity for investors.

Augmented reality won't hit consumers until 2017
SAN FRANCISCO - Augmented reality hardware and software - which employs glasses to overlay a virtual world over the real one - isn't likely to hit consumers until 2017, according to tech advisors Digi-Capital.
Last year, Digi-Capital projected that AR and VR, virtual reality, would represent a combined market of $150 billion by 2020, with AR taking $120 billion of the pie. But on Tuesday, the firm released a report that revised AR's number downward to $90 billion by 2020, as a result of existing technology being largely focused on enterprise solutions and consumer applications not expected for another year.
"VR's top line remains unchanged at $30 billion," writes Digi-Capital founder Tim Merel, who also is in the AR/VR software game as CEO of Eyetouch Reality. "The timing change also moves the tipping point for AR passing VR from 2018 to 2019.
