WATTS..
I'm curious what your thoughts are on this. Could LQMT be used to create batteries for hybrid cars? We already know that Apple has the patent for the collector plates on fuel cell batteries. I'm curious if due to it's properties regarding the transfer of energy, if it might be possible to create a sealed cell that would be rechargeable when braking similar to current battery technology.
Imagine the mileage that would be possible if this could be accomplished.
Also, I was reading an article earlier today regarding Tesla Motors and how much money it took for them to get started. Including government subsidies and private and backing, it was around one Billion dollars. Do you feel that a company like Apple, once they have taken over the living room with an actual television set, would venture outside of the realm of consumer electronics and try their hand at either selling energy or an automobile? At some point, they will be forced to enter a new market.
Remember... After 30 days at $5, it becomes Nasdaq listed. THAT will be a great piece of PR. I have seen that exact news provide a big boost to the stock price of numerous other companies as it validates it on a legitimate exchange.
I really hope they don't dilute this further. Let it breathe a little Mr. Steipp..
35 million this quarter. If it were possible to launch globally on the same day, then it would have been 35 million consistently. Keep in mind this is only iPhone 4S. Apple is still selling the iPhone 4 and even iPhone 3GS in emerging markets. So if you consider those numbers, they are selling a shitload of phones.
I don't think the iPhone 5 will be made of liquidmetal. Apple moves incrementally. If this phone isn't Liquidmetal, then it wont be made from Liquidmetal until the seventh generation. Sinew will have to wait two years for a full redesign. You better believe THAT will be a crazy phone. Maybe it will include a Liquidmetal hinge with a bendable glass.
It could theoretically be an iPhone flip phone that would be tiny, yet full sized when open. I'm just saying, I actually think Peker might not be far off with his opinion. This gives Apple to build out the infrastructure and continue researching potential uses for the alloy. This would also come to fruition as the new agreement with LQMT expires. Then we will hopefully get a small royalty or license per phone sold.
Lets just assume 200 million phones at $0.50 per phone. Not bad.....
That makes no sense!
What is a Laptop "cover"?
The # of sim card removal tools produced by liquidmetal is irrelevant as it was only the 3G and maybe a few 3GS sim cards removal tools. We weren't full blown in China yet. 36 million per quarter sounds about right buy that number will jump a lot when the iPhone 5 comes out. Also, the head of HonHai publicly stated the iPhone will put the Galaxy III to shame!
they will sell more than 180 million iPhone 5
How much time do they have before they have to release the 10Q? Also, how much debt do we currently have? How nice would it be if we could pay off all of our obligations?
A million dollars is NOT a lot of money. I meet 30 year old millionaires every day. Set your goals higher buddy. You'll get there.
This has a lot of potential. It's all in the clues. Just connect the dots.. The dots are the multi-billion dollar partners who are siding with LQMT to change the way we engineer the future.
How nice would it be if there was more revenue from this deal which meant the need for dilution was null and void.
This is the same stock that it was in August 2010. It is a rehabilitated drug addict with inner demons. Fortunately, it has kicked the habit (Kangs) to the curb. Now it is just struggling to earn the trust of those who saw it at its worst.
Apple-Engel-Materion-Visser = the new LQMT.
Institutions haven't figured it out yet. That is because it's in OTC hell. Once we get a legitimate order via injection molding process and revenues start coming in, we're off the the races. This is the ultimate turn around.
Imagine if you were one of the early investors in Starbucks. Well, this could be THAT opportunity. We are on the ground floor of a NEW company. We happen to be getting in at $0.29/share. How crazy is that? If this thing ever hits $5, I'm a millionaire.
Possibly the dumbest question EVER.
Hello, so here goes..
If Apple and LQMT just agreed to extend their agreement for two years and if there must be consideration... Then does this mean that if Liquidmetal had a fully operational manufacturing operation and had Apple not renewed their agreement, that Liquidmetal could start producing for other Consumer Elextronics companies?
What exactly does Worldwide Perpetual Rights mean if the agreement expires? Also, does this in fact mean that Liquidmetal will be receiving money from Apple in the form of purchase agreements if and when the contract expires in the future? This is all I want to know!
Watts,
I like you. Sure, sometimes you can be abrasive as can I. But I do truly enjoy having you and your opinions on this board, even when they go against me. :)
Watts,
I never really looked at it like that but you clearly have a point. I like the fact that Apple is our poison pill. :)
I'm curious if the dilution is just a major poison pill. Why wouldn't Apple just buy the entire company? How much could it possibly cost? I wonder if this is the sole purpose of the dilution.
HAHAHAHAHAHA.
Chris,
This is the funniest post you have ever posted.
Awesome!
Just voted! :)
Thanks guys..
Where do you go to vote your shares?
I haven't voted mine. I have almost 200k
Watts,
What do you base your opinion on?
How many shares as a percentage of the float do insiders carry to vote in their own interests? Usually, when I see this type of vote, management gets what it wants due to a major stake in the vote. I hope you're right but I'm just curious how you came to this conclusion.
I don't understand the point you are attempting to make regarding finding the source I the spinoff. What a waste of time. The source of the alloy is known. This is the source. Materion is the source. Engel is the source. Visser is the source.
By trying to identify which company ex: skyworks, will manufacture speakers for a product, is just retarded and clearly you're missing the point. That would be like saying you would rather invest in the aerospace company that might use LQMT one day because they will be placing an order in the future and clearly must be in business in order to capitalize on said order..
Buy the source!!!!
I am not finding any information regarding arc working with LQMT. I may be wrong but I don't see the connection.
I do not see Apple wasting their time on the unique acoustical properties for "sound" when their current speakers sound very good and based on the physical limitations of speakers the size of which are used within laptops and mobile phones. I also have better things to waste my time on.
When it comes to hearing, current speakers sound phenomenal. They are not going to reinvent the 2" speaker... There is no profit here. These speakers probably cost apple $1. I do not see Apple dedicating engineers to this project.
Batteries are a different story.
Casings, we can touch, feel and see. That is also a different story as they protect the internal components which are fragile.
I do agree with you that nano components and chips are also a very distinct possibility. :)
I don't know what ARCW is?
Paul,
We're on the same team! I'm a long. I've been waiting for almost two years and feel things are happening but this is definitely the calm before the storm.
I actually hope that we fall short term. I do not want dilution because that will be painful. At the same time, I would love to add to my position in December when I will have another $9k to put in. So ideally for me, we teach $0.28 per share or even better (lower) so that I can add at a lower level.
I understand that investing involves risk but I agree with you that a lot has been happening over the past two years. The orders will eventually arrive. They haven't because it is an unproven technology. Unproven is the key word. Nobody wants to be first to try something. Well, nobody except Apple as they are typically first to market and are literally the company most likely able to bear the risk as they have more money than both God and Full4God ;P
My advice: if you think this is the future and have a long term horizon, keep buying. If you can't risk the potential losses, sell. This is a long term holding for me. One million dollars is a lot of money but it's not a lot where I live. With that said, if it stays above $5 for 25 days straight, then you leverage an hope for 5 additional days. If they announce they have been added to the Nasdaq, it will more than likely jump another 10% at which you are leveraged. Then you close out the leveraged position and take a vacation.
When Full4God states that PR could come "any day", he is not saying that it "will" come.. He is only stating that it "could" come. The meaning behind those words is important as he, Watts, Chris and I do not have any inside knowledge of what "could" come out any day now. I have been in this investment for over a year and a half. I add when I can. My original goal was to get to 100,000 shares before the big news. The big news never came. Now I'm approaching 200,000 shares. I hope for big news. If it doesn't come and I have the opportunity to continue adding, I will. Maybe I will be able to get to 250 or 300 before the big news. I am unconcerned. It may be 3 years before Apple starts using this, I could care less. WHEN it happens, I will benefit to a tremendous degree.
I am in this more for the OTHER industries which we are approaching. These industries are a huge opportunity. If we are able to get this technology moving, by the time Apple starts using us, we will already be a $2 plus stock. Then watch out because this could jump very quickly. If we can hold $5 for more than 30 days, we're back on the Nasdaq. Generally THAT re-listing causes another jump.
This could potentially be very lucrative. But, then again, WATTS has been in this for a lot longer than I and he knows the other side.. It can also take a long time for this technology to advance. Luckily, we have some amazing partnerships with multi-billion dollar multinational conglomerates who can support us with technology while opening the doors to bigger clients who trust in THEM.
Chris,
I'm not trying to convince you otherwise. You're going to be disappointed when the iPhone 5 comes out.
I will eat my words if I'm wrong.
How much better would the speakers sound? How much better would they be? Would the entire speaker be made from Liquidmetal? If any part of the speaker is not made from Liquidmetal, then how much would it cost to ship the Liquidmetal parts to the manufacturer who makes and assembles the speakers? Would this be cost effective?
If you think about all those factors, I don't believe Apple would go to the trouble. Speakers are not a structural component, the current speakers sound great, and Apple is in this to make money and more importantly to protect their margin. I think the speakers would cut into their margins and doesn't make a lot of sense. The casings on the other hand would make sense and the fuel cell batteries would be such a technological leap that it would be a huge milestone in the energy sector.
I don't believe Apple cares if their products are made from Liquidmetal. All they care about is the perceived value and I don't see the value in Liquidmetal speakers. By the way, I am an audiophile.
Paul,
I read another private message you had sent to me stating that I am just posting without posting links to facts or other articles. First, let me state that I have been following Apple as a company very closely for the past six years. I know how the company operates internally via their management structure and via their philosophy. As Watts seems to understand the history of Liquidmetal, I understand the history of Apple. Therefore, I don't need to post articles to convince the masses of what Apple does as I'm here to learn and glean an advantage. I am not here to convince strangers that I know more than them.
Now, it appears you have a problem with my post regarding batteries. You are correct that there is a company called Liquid Metal that is making batteries with funding from Bill Gates. That is a different company. If you dig, you will see that Apple had patented a liquidmetal fuel cell collector plate. This was a very big deal when the patent arose as the biggest foundational issue surrounding fuel cells is that they need very stiff charging plates that are strong, will not damage upon physical impact, and that are "NON CORROSIVE". The non-corrosive aspect has been one of the biggest challenges. Our liquidmetal alloy has all of the properties to advance this technology. Considering Apple now owns the rights to the consumer electronics market and considering battery life is a major performance metric, it would make sense that Apple would invest a lot of money in bringing this technology to their products. Here is a link so that you don't try to accuse me later of posting gibberish.
http://www.cultofmac.com/75486/apple-is-granted-its-first-liquidmetal-patent-exclusive/
Also, if you read my past post, I never said it would be too expensive to make a casing from liquidmetal. I think the casing will eventually happen but I think Apple will wait and update all of their products to a liquidmetal casing in the same year which is why I believe Atakan Peker was correct in stating that it will be three years before this occurs. I am happy adding to my position between now and then and I think we will get many controlled leaks and pumps in the next few years as this stock slowly rises due to the other industries in which sales will be occurring. (aerospace and medical).
My point of contention regarding the speakers being manufactured is that the speakers don't really do anything for Apple. The speakers in their computers are so light and take up so little space right now that it isn't worth the money or the perceived benefit for Apple to make them out of liquidmetal. Consumers won't be like, "WHOA.. THESE SPEAKERS SOUND AWESOME, MUST BE THE LIQUIDMETAL". It's not going to happen. That was my point. Apple patents a lot of different ideas. Many of them never come to fruition. Just because Apple has worked on a patent and patented it does not mean it is pursuing that as an idea. I just means they stumbled upon something and they may patent it just to own the rights assuming a major discovery later.
My post to Full4God was intended to be tongue in cheek. People got really sensitive and I don't really care. This board is a place for knowledge and we have a bunch of people preaching religion and I never say anything. I'm not going to continue addressing it because you and everybody else needs to get over it. It was a joke. Maybe it was tasteless and if I offended anybody, that's too bad. I already apologized once. That's all you get. Maybe you can look past that one joke and realize that I too contribute to these boards in a legitimate way. I can tell you that Chris is probably going to be very disappointed when the iPhone 5 comes out because he is convinced that it will be made from Liquidmetal. It looks like anodized aluminum to me and the cases are floating around. It is not liquidmetal. If you believe in anything the experts say, Apple will first use Liquidmetal in a revolutionary product. The iPhone 5 is not revolutionary, it's Evolutionary.
I hope that clarifies my positions and hope you learned something. It will be a while before Apple uses us but that's ok. Lets get sales in other industries and get our stock price to $2 per share on our own merits. Then "if" Apple does jump in and start using us, we can get a big jump to $4-5 per share and I'll probably jump out. Then again, I'll have more than a million dollars if that happens and I will be very happy.
Speakers are too inexpensive to waste their time and money on. Maybe a fuel cell battery, hinge or casing. But the speaker, I doubt it. They just patented that because they could.
Watts,
I never said Apple will RELEASE all the products at the same time, only that they will all get the major update during the same annual update cycle. Therefore, I think Peker may be right. But who cares? Let's launch aerospace and medical now and get a healthy stock price so that when Apple launches, we go into the stratosphere.
I think mat of the 20% increase in CNC devices is probably the increase in Apple demand, more than the PC demand. I still don't think it will happen until Apple decides to upgrade their ENTIRE line.
I honestly don't think Apple will use liquidmetal in a big way for many years. I think Peker is right. Here's why:
1. Apple uses their cases as a way to brand their devices uniformly. When they made the switch to aluminum, every device made the switch to aluminum. It was a way to distinctly brand the entire line of Apple products.
2. Apple has no need to change from aluminum to any other material at this time as they have all the CNC devices on lock and Samsung, HP, etc. can't get access to these machines in high enough quantities to manufacture laptops or other devices as I expensively as Apple. This is one big reason why Apple's margins are so high.
I only think Apple will make the move once these companies either:
1. Procure enough CNC devices to lower their own margins to make aluminum unibody computers in large quantities.
2. Start making computers that look and feel like Apple computers.
Apple has a patent on the MacBook Air clamshell casing. They are going to sue the pants off of all other computer manufacturers who enter this space which will also buy Apple some time.
Now here is the good news. If Visser and Steipp can start getting Aerospace and Medical customers and make this company profitable in the next few years, by the time Apple starts using Liquidmetal, we will already be worth over a dollar per share, maybe more. Then we will get a HUGE shot in the arm from the Apple news and THAT could push us over $5/share. That is the scenario that I am hoping for.
Under Tom Steipps LinkedIn Profile..
It says his specialties are: synchronication and time.
What does that mean?
Oracle,
I meant no offense in my original post and honestly didn't know it was tongue in cheek. Regardless, I value all you contribute to these boards. At the end of the day, we're both here for the same reason.. :)
Oracle,
Put your Patriotism aside for a minute. I work in the most innovative market in our country. I work with many of the youngest, brightest minds in our country. Most of the people I meet either work for a startup or just started a start up.
With that said, if you look at our citizen's educational scores and results as compared to many emerging economies, we are in trouble. Our math and science scores are really bad. Once again, put your patriotism aside and you will see this FACT. This is because our youth are lazy. They get this example in large part because of their parents. We as people must set the example for our youth and the youth today who were born in the late 90s didn't need or want for anything. Now they feel entitled to everything.
I am American. I was born here. I am patriotic but that doesn't mean that I have to blindly follow that line of reasoning. I say this respectfully, but our country is lazy.
There are a lot of jobs available but a lot of the available jobs suck and hardly pay. So people would rather collect unemployment or worse (welfare) than work for a nominally greater amount. Lastly, though Apple would like to bring manufacturing home, it'll NEVER happen because we don't work as hard, can't push our employees as hard and that will push the price ever higher.
So don't take offense to the facts I provide because I wish things were different myself. It's telling when one company's growth is the difference between a rising or falling market. Last year the S&P 500 closed within 3/1,000ths of a percent from where it opened. If Apple hadn't been up as much as it was, last year would have been a very bad year. This should concern people.
Most people don't know!
Question for Watts.
I know this stock has a mind of its own and is not necessarily correlated with the stock market. BUT. The S&P 500, DJ and Nasdaq were all down a lot in May. LQMT stock also got hammered. What I want to know is.. Would LQMT stock have corrected so painfully if the market hadn't corrected at the same time? Is it possible that if the market had been trading flat, that we would have lost less than the 35% that was lost last month?
Oracle,
They will NEVER bring manufacturing back to the states so please stop wasting the space on this boarding hoping for that. American's are lazy, we have too much red tape and it would cost more. Rioting in China doesn't affect Apple. They will fire those Chinese workers and life goes on.
LQMT will most likely not be used to a huge degree in the new Apple designs. Apple will wait until they can use it across all lines for branding purposes and for casings. This will give them an unmatched competitive edge that no company can acquire. This will happen in 2-3 years.
Hopefully we start producing parts for medical supplies or devices and for aerospace which will carry us forward until Apple jumps aboard in a very big way.
When will the vote results on dilution be made public?
When drill the vote results on dilution be made public?
