Added some at 68.02 - enough to bleed some from a falling knife, but not enough to be fatal :)
YABO yet? eom.
Do you think that loyalty has been earned by the company? em

Put on your thinking hat lango,
then post something other than soph0moric rants about Jim Jones and quality issues with the Cube. Sheesh.
That's right, let us not pay any attention to the reported experiences of customers measured by a survey. That would just be wrong.
JimisJim,
check, got it factored in.
The Caridad mine has been on strike since March 24. There has been some violence, I think maybe a death. It has not been pretty. It is a pretty good sized producer. There are threats of strikes in Chile.
Copper is not the main play in the mine I wrote about, it is a polymetallic property that is still being explored, but it seems that zinc is the main thing, with good amounts of copper and silver also.
CWPC et al. Yes, it seems to be breaking out.
Bought a starter position in MMGG today, zinc/copper/silver in bankable feasibility study and mine plan stage - property in Mexico.

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
It's not warm when she's away
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
She's gone much too long
Any time she goes away
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
Wonder if she's gone to stay
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone
And this house just ain't no home
Anytime she goes away

There could have been some uptake by central banks as well - to the extent that there is diversification away from the USD, some small portion of that could be going into gold, do you think?
So, gold breached the $700 mark, making at least a temporary entry into the 700 Club. Where now?

To be honest, there haven't been many big losses over the past year. The last time I lost much was back in late 2004/ early 2005. Made some bad decisions then, and I think I learned from them.
I've been shaking my head lately over performance that is weaker than yours :), 54% YTD in our IRAs, approaching 100% for the past 9 months. One factor has been reducing losses. I tend not to be as patient with positions, having a quicker trigger finger for those that are heading down. I'm not in much of a mood to give much back to the markets - to the extent that I can avoid doing that.
core guy, do you think their lying?
I mean their numbers will be out and folks will know iffen they was.
Dell's warning was due to their pricing policies, according to something I read.
Why doesn't Apple Computer just buy
Apple Corp and put them out of their misery :).
Congrats spitsong!!
That is strong performance. Approximately how much of that do you attribute to options trading?
As the yield on money market funds (MMF) has increased, I am leaving much of my non-trading money there. I am starting to tilt toward a bearish view of the general markets, and have moved 80% of the money in my 457 plan to the MMF option - keeping only the international equity funds - but also keeping the monthly allocation to various segments the same - so that the money in large cap growth and value and small/mid cap will slowly grow again. When/if we see the 10-20% haircut I think the major indices could take sometime in the next year, I'll decide on moving money out of the money market fund back into equities.
Fortunately for me, another pot of money I have is managed by the Oregon Investment Council. Their returns have been good, and they were in the top 5% in pension fund returns in 2005 - but I do not have much influence over that :). An amount equal to 6% of my salary goes there each month as the defined contribution part of my hybrid pension plan. My union negotiated for the college to pick up that contribution, so it is nothing outta pocket for me.
In the meantime, I'll keep banging away with the IRA money till the metals/gold/AAPL/energy combination stops working - and it has been an incredible run for that combination.
Jimbo is buying foreign companies - he believes the dollar has a long way to drop. A long way. Me too.
¿Anyone have any comments on Massey Energy (MEE)? EOM
One day at one store does not a year make
But I think AAPL are in for a monster year going forward. I have started putting my money where my mouth is, increasing my Apple position 3 fold over the past couple of weeks
When the MacBooks become available, I'll add my little bit to revenues - in addition to my regular Apple tax :).
Shaping up to be another good day
In equities land. I continue to be amazed and continue to be pleased.
PMs good, Oil bad, AAPL blah
Whole Foods are good for you.
OT tomm
If by Gigi you mean GG, yes, but it is a temporary situation :). Here is the current portfolio allocation in our IRA accounts:
Apple shares and calls 17%
Energy (CWPC, PBW and RSNRX-about 2/3 energy in RSNRX) 24%
Base metals (copper and moly) 19.5%
Precious Metals 9.5%
Whole Foods 14%
Cash 16%
Recent moves
Sold a bunch of precious metal stocks yesterday, part of profit-taking strategy and I suspect they would go down for a while in the short term.
Bought some AAPL Jan 80 calls on May 3 and some Whole Foods (WFMI) yesterday - read a recommmendation on it , I took a quick look at it and bought.
Life is pretty good in just about every aspect.
WFMI
Thanks Frank
sold a bunch of PMs this morning and put some of the money there.
Hope you are having a monster year.
¿Anyone making money? *grin*
OT: Gold sitting over $672 an ounce as I type this.
Hope some took advice to put 5-10% of portfolio in gold and mining stocks given some time ago.
That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read
Pedophiles don't go for guys with facial hair.
AAPL going into second half of the year
I expect Apple to be higher in early January than it is now. I am not sure what it does in the interim. Hope so anyway - went over 50% ytd today and hope the hot hand holds up for the rest of the year :).
AAPL, CWPC, GG, GRS, AZK all pretty fair today.
I just watched all the ads.
I hope there are a lot of unkempt young white guys with enough money to buy a Mac. I think that character will turn off a lot of demographic groups.
So, while I like the content - the guy playing the Mac - sheesh.
I think it is about bloody time Apple took this marketing approach. The main question is why did it take them so long?
Sure there are risks, but it is a message that I think will resonate with consumers much more than the switchers campaign did - but I did enjoy that stoner girl's testimonial :).
OT: Some more photos up, of San Miguel de Allende and Ajijic

OT: A good shot of tequila
I prefer a copa de tequila en roca (on the rocks) rather than a shot. I have long been a devotee of Gran Centenario Añejo, but grew to appreciate Herradura Añejo on this trip. I also like the fact that a copa is significantly more than a warm shot. At home, I keep the bottle in the freezer; my tastes have grown more refined since college days :)
Museo de Momias
We were there for two nights. Sat at the VanGogh restaurant at the Jardin de Union one afternoon people watching, drinking coffee, cervesa negra, tequila and eating antojitos instead of running about pell-mell like tourists with their heads cut off.
OT: There are some photos of Guanajuato here:

Awesome city, great university, home of an international Cervantes festival, long live Don Quijote
AAPL position
Whilst in Mexico I went to core plus 50% of core shares on April 21. Paid 68.17 for those additional shares.

That is wonderful music to this investors ears. Other's mileage may vary :).
OT Bootz,
Yes, we stopped at Guanajuato on the way to San Miguel, but didn't get off the bus then. We spent 4 nights at Ajijic, followed by 3 at San Miguel, followed by 2 in Guanajuato. Got home late last night. Photo link will be forthcoming.
Gosh, we are having a good time here. Have even executed a couple of trades from the internet cafe at our little hotel in San Miguel de Allende. Absolutely love this city. Photos and stories to follow at another site for those who want to see/read them.
Another couple of years as a salaryman and there is a good chance we are here full-time
