Quantum Dot Luminescent Concentrator:

Hal...that company appears to be primarily focused on the QD-battery/charging sector, having already produced a prototype 5min quick-charger for cellphones & they recently stated they have additional aspirations for quick-charging E-vehicles. I don't particularly see them as being anything to worry about.

Anti-counterfeiting in 3D-Printing w/ QDots[?]
"Indeed, the 40 or so professionals queried as background for this story all pointed to older distributed media as illustration of the current problems in 3D printing – and as possible shared solutions. "Look at all the counterfeiting in DVD copies earlier," GE's Johnson said. "Maybe we don't need DRM exactly, but we will need something similar. We can learn from the past and perhaps use that knowledge in digital threads, digital DNA, microdots, quantum dots, or some other protections. In any case, it is the same evolution."

JB...I take the modern generic usage of the popular (PR) term 'next-gen' as being comparable to the prior generations use of the terms; 'the future is now' , 'cutting-edge' &/or 'ahead of its time'...being one step ahead of 'state-of-the-art'...just eye-catching adjectives with no particular timelines intended.

"google alert for "quantum dot" and posting links to new papers" is now considered a bad thing ? Who-knew ;) This isn't about 'you'...I wasn't discrediting you but merely putting things in perspective to standards you-yourself professed in post#40937 "pointing out things that are backed up by cold-hard facts"...I would consider a 3rd-party validation of credible sources & statements a 'cold-hard fact'. Anything less than that is just misc board-chatter as far as I'm concerned.
And 'products' is one thing , 'revenues' & eventual prosperity are quite another. To be clear, I don't begrudge Nanosys or QDV for their achievements, more power to them, but that's not who I'm invested with or who I really even care about...there can be more than one winner in this game...QMC will either make it on its own merits or not, as it should be. The whole picture hasn't even really begun to unfold & until it does, I have no intention of declaring competitor's to be winners-or-losers or calling QMC a lost cause.
"you know about color gamuts and QDs from a technical stand point" ? I guess we'll just have to take your word for it (or not) , just like the 'claims' coming from Nanosys, QDV, Nanoco and by extension, QMC. Fact-is that the only way of doing a fair comparative (& authenticated) analysis between the competing parties is to have an impartial-recognized leading scientist in the field of QD's have access to all the tech IP specs from all parties involved & do a comparative study , which would in-turn (by scientific protocals) be subject to accredited-peer review for accuracy...& then be open-source published for public consumption....none-of-which is going to happen. All of which brings us right back to where we started...in the meantime, ('PR's and-all) I'll continue to do my own DD & exercise my personal prerogatives & be my own judge of just exactly what is pertinent , valid & relevant (to me) and what is not. In the absence of an impartial 3rd-party study , the only thing I would completely agree with in this dialogue is the assertion that the 'absolute proof' (from an investors PoV) will be realized in the form of 'revenues'.
